    Cannoli Cake

Special order for a cannoli cake and cupcakes for my daughters Birthday. The cake was AMAZING!! True New York style cannoli cake! Special instructions followed and excelled! The cupcakes were huge compared to what I thought it would be! Also purchased Italian cookies, and several other pastries while I was there- pricing was extremely reasonable- quality A++ and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff?? Top notch! I drove here from Gilbert, and it was DEFINITELY worth the trip! We will be back!!

I want to order a cake to try from here next I tried so many different items and everything was fresh. Everything tasted great. I can't wait to try more different items. I'll try to look at the names next time.

Oh my... if you want something sweet... this is the place. The employees are so helpful and nice. My birthday is in January and I can't wait to come and get my cake!!

    Cheesecake with strawberries

We just put our forks down from devouring Dawns cheesecake and WOW! It's my husband's birthday and I called to order a strawberry cheesecake as cheesecake is his favorite. Hands down BEST cheesecake we have had...even better than the ones in NY!! Creamy, yet firm, sweet but not overly sweet. Perfection! Bakery staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and we will be back! 5 star all the way!!! Yum!!!!

Just a PORTION of frosting from HALF of the yule log
    Teresa E.

This is a sugar dump. Everything is way too sweet. I just bought a yule log. I ended up cutting it up to fit it in the fridge. Just got through taking off ALL THE EXTRA SWEET frosting off of this cake. In addition to all the sugar in the frosting and cake, this yule log also had jelly in it. There was more frosting and jelly than cake. This yule log is approximately 10" long. The frosting thst I removed from HALF of this log was over 10 ounces. It was actually closer to 13 ounces but I didn't safe the first purge. Anyone who knows me, knows I have a sweet tooth, but there comes a time that it becomes gross. This bakery consistently crosses that line. I was in a pinch and ended up wasting money. These pictures are of half the yule log sliced, the frosting pile removed and weighed and what little cake was left.

Came here while I waited for my salvadoreno order to be ready and was very pleased! I had been to this spot before but not sure if it changed owners or something since I see grand opening pics from like a year ago? I got four cookies, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, a sprinkle cookie, and an iced shortbread type cookie with a cute smiley on it! The display case is loaded with delicious treats, it was hard to choose. With the 4 cookies I got my total was only $8 which is awesome for good quality stuff like this! I would totally come here again! Good service as well!

    "Just a taste"

This is a dangerous place! When I spotted this bakery, I thought I would just pick up a small cake or pie for dessert that night (family was coming for dinner). Upon entering, it immediately reminded me of the Italian bakeries I knew on the East coast especially when I saw the selection of delectable goodies--various pastries, muffins, Danish, cookies, etc. It was hard to contain myself and I left with a box of different items. Everyone liked the selection but there was one delectable layered chocolate cake item (I think they called it Radiowave) that everyone wanted more of. A lot of care and good quality ingredients go into their products. While some might think they are pricey, I'm noticing it's not that much cheaper to do homemade these days--especially with the price of chocolate so I am happy to pay for something perfect. I appreciated the friendly service and good suggestions and cannot wait to come back and taste some of the things I missed.

    Gelatinous cheesecake

I wanted to love this place but I don't! I purchased some pastries and they were dry as dust. I also ordered a cheesecake, it was also DRY and the fruit topping that I requested to be a sauce was instead a totally gelatinous glob of unknown that looked and tasted like it was a low-quality jam from a grocery store. This was to be for a special occasion but instead everyone took one bite and it was tossed in the trash. A total waste of time and money! We have used Banham's Bakery in the past and they were excellent every time; sadly this time they were booked solid so I couldn't order from them. Next time I'll get a cheesecake anywhere but Dawn's!

There's no place to sit inside, but there are two nice parking spaces out in the front since it's a busy parking lot by a gym. They have several cases of sweet options, cakes that you can customize on the spot, and pastries that are topped fresh to order. They also have so many cake pop flavors. I didn't even know how to decide! The owner, Melissa, was so sweet to me! I asked her questions about the business, and what they do for catering. I love supporting local businesses, especially bakeries because I'm a baker myself. I talked to her about customizing an order for my place of employment in the next couple of months and she was totally on board to customize it how I wanted. Aside for my too good bag, I ended up buying an ube cake pop and a Boston cream tart, and both are out of this world! On Fridays and Saturdays, they do buy one get one free cake, pops, so it's a perfect opportunity to try all of the flavors! Definitely try this place, you will not be disappointed!

I was so excited because I heard about this place a long time ago and had yet to visit. It's fairly small inside with a small glass case on the side with cookies and one main one filled with both sweet and savory options. There were also a few loaves of bread on the counter. Everything looked great, but it was a such a warm day so my mom and I opted for something light. The Coffee Cake was indeed as light and airy as it looked. The cake layers tasted like a sponge cake with slightly dry edges (a little over-baked). I think the espresso layers were mousse and not too sweet. It was topped with a chocolate covered espresso bean that was tasty as well. Overall it was a nice afternoon treat. I would like to go back sometime and try their Japanese cheesecake, and their raisin bread loaf too.

They offer a variety of cakes by the slice, specialty breads, and other pastries. I was tempted to get a slice of cake, but I was able to fight off the craving, lol. You can also order a whole cake, but I would assume you'd have to place that order in advance. Prices seem fair, the service is fast and friendly, and the shop is clean. They don't have any tables inside, so it's a grab-and-go kind of place. It's located in a corner strip mall with decent parking. I would come back again, and when I do, I'm getting a slice of cheesecake!! =)

I can't speak on the customer service as we never left our table and our waited just walked over and got what we needed. We were pretty stuffed from our massive meal, but we decided on sharing a cup of gelato just to satisfy our sweet tooth. I peeked inside as our table was right at a little walkway from the restaurant to the bakery. Gelato is just one of many things they serve here. They also have all your typical Italian desserts. Cakes like tiramisu, pastries like Italian flag cookies, cookies like Italian wedding cookies, cannolis of different varieties, and of course gelato. What was suggested to us if we wanted gelato was the hazelnut flavor. I was expecting a little cup for the 6 of us just to get a taste, but what he brought over was a massive serving. I don't know how many scoops it was or even how much we even paid, but we all got plenty with some even left behind. Now this gelato was life changing. Probably the best I've had in the states. I know it's gotta be way better in Italy, but I'll take what I can when I can. Think of a Ferrero Rocher but in gelato form. It was delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. It wasn't overly sweet and it had a little crunch with bits of chocolate and hazelnuts. My sweet tooth was extremely satisfied after having dessert here. I have literally been thinking about that gelato since I left Phoenix. Luckily this company has locations in Texas so I will definitely be seeking out this gelato soon.

Have a meal at The Sicilian Butcher and then follow that up with dessert at The Sicilian Baker. There are several locations in town, with this one being in North Phoenix. On my most recent visit, I stopped by on a Thursday. Parking tends to be busy in their complimentary lot, but you'll find a spot. Ambiance (4/5): The Sicilian Baker is connected to The Sicilian Butcher. It's a small bakery, with only a few seats. More of a grab-and-go type of spot or the source of your dessert if you're dining at the restaurant. While small, the decor and ambiance is nice. Service (3/5): A little bit of bad luck, but on my most recent visit, they were having trouble with their refrigeration so no gelato was available. While interacting with the staff, it was an average experience. I will say that the service was much better in the restaurant. Drinks (N/A): I only got dessert, but they do have coffee and a few other beverages available. Food (4/5): The Sicilian Baker is known for its cannolis, tiramisu, gelato, and lobster claws (dessert, not real lobster haha). On my most recent visit, I had a cannoli. They have your classic cannoli but also a nice variety of other fillings including pistachio, Reese's, and more. A+ for creativity, though I decided to stick with the classic. Solid. In fact, all of the desserts I've had here over the years have been quite good.

There were also a number of employees working behind the registers helping customers. I walked around and looked at the self-serve section, the options behind the counter, and the menu. I decided to order a sourdough turkey melt. It came out nice and toasted and quite tasty. There was a wait until it was ready, but that was to be expected as it was weekend lunch-time. The employees were so helpful and walked me through how everything worked and how to come back and take advantage of special offers.
