Day Out With Thomas is a 2 hour event that includes a ride with Thomas, a drop off to the Train Museum that includes outdoor activities for the kids and photo ops with Toppham Man and Thomas and a 20 minute ride to Snoqualmie Falls and back to the train station. After Thomas dropped us off at the museum, we were corralled to the dusty back which had multiple tents adorned with activities for the kids. That said, seeing it was a bit disappointing, especially for the cost of each ticket. However, all said and done, my kids had fun playing with the Thomas the Train toy trains, etc and had a blast seeing a life sized Thomas. It was a dream come true for both of the kids. read more

MY SON'S FINGERS/HANDS WOULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED OR EVEN CHOPPED OFF YESTERDAY AND THEY DIN'T CARE. We had the Thomas train event yesterday at 11a.m. My 5 year old son was sitting next to the window which was already left OPEN. Just within a minute or two of finding ourselves a seat, suddenly, the heavy wooden window frame slid down with a crashing sound. Thank God, my son's hands were not there. THIS IS WHAT WAS EVEN WORSE. We immediately alerted the conductor, and she said "Well, the trains are old, and I have seen this window ALWAYS SLIDING DOWN. Anyways, you are not supposed to keep your hands there." She had absolutely no empathy, and dint care about the severity of the situation. Those windows are super heavy!! Just to be safe, my husband who was sitting on the other side with my younger son held the window up so that it doesn't fall and hurt anyone. The conductor came again and told him not to hold it and that he was making it worse by holding it up. After deboarding the train, we let another conductor know about the same, and we suggested that they should at least paste small stickers on the windows clearly writing that "Keep your hands away from the window as they slide down" or even better have regular maintenance, and fix these issues as it is not a small thing if someone's hands/head are crushed, and kids put their hands heads out all the time while waving out at people. Even adults sometimes do it. And he said "Well, we have it written on the tickets, and the trains are old." He had similar temperament as the other conductor on the train. So, no matter what, they don't want to maintain the trains and ensure safety. But, find it easier to simply blame it on customers. If they don't maintain the trains properly, they should stop running them as they are NOT SAFE. We are never going on those trains again, and we are sure to warn our friends about how unsafe those trains are and even worse how bad the entire staff is. Sure, people do it at their own risk, but the Snoqualmie Train Depot and the staff are equally responsible to maintain those trains to ensure they are safe specially when kids are on the trains. read more

We were so excited to take our 3yo Thomas fan. But, the event ran more than 1 hr behind schedule (which is not toddler friendly as you're herded into tight lines while you wait). And, once we got started it felt like most time was spent standing in more lines. The attendants kept roaming through the cars telling all the kids to keep their hands and heads away from the windows. Activities were outdated and boring for children and adult. And, you don't even really get to see the falls. So, it was basically a total waste of time and money in our opinions. The only redeeming parts were seeing the animated facial features of Thomas - which you can see without doing the tour - and the interior of a couple of the old railroad cars, which little ones don't care much about. read more

The town is really cute with the decor of a train station vibe. There's a lot of parking on the street and the event doesn't start right at four like the instructions mentioned. We probably boarded the train about 405. The train is super cute and our toddler loved watching it come by the inside. The core is really cool. Almost reminds me of Harry Potter Hogwarts type seating. When we got to the train museum, the area for toddlers had a lot of things to do, but it was all pretty hot. The actual museum was awesome going down. I always looking at these giant trains at the end to take a picture of Thomas, which was pretty fun, but also really Rushed. Overall, for a toddler that loves trains this was really fun but a bit expensive overall for what we got . read more

Day Out With Thomas event is a little expensive at $28 per person (free for children under 2), but if you have a Thomas train lover in the family you don't have much of a choice do you? :D The event was only available for a couple of weekends in July, but I just checked and they are currently opening up for another weekend in September. If you do go, there is a decent sized parking lot located at SE King St & Railroad Ave, and if you can't find anything you can always park in the residential area a block or two from the Northwest Railway Museum (where you line up for boarding). The event itself presents a nice variety of activities for the kiddos. Besides the actual train ride on Thomas, there was live entertainment, an appearance from Sir Topham Hatt for you to take pictures with, a temporary tattoo station, a small hay bale maze, and photo opportunities. The highlight for many people is that everyone is guaranteed the opportunity to take pictures directly in front of Thomas, and the friendly staff are more than happy to use your own phones/cameras to help take your family photos. Oh they also have a nursing station too. Depending on which train car you hop on, it may have open windows or shut windows. If you are on a train car with open windows, please watch your kids because the openings are big enough for the young ones to crawl out of which could seriously hurt themselves while the train is moving. At the end once everybody has disembarked, most people probably don't realize this but with another 20 mins remaining before the next session starts up, you can actually loop back around yourself and walk to the front of the train outside if you need another opportunity to take pictures with Thomas on your own. Fun day For the little one! Park at the snoqualmie elementary school and take the shuttle. Kind if nice not having to deal with parking or traffic. The shuttle is free. Get there about 30-45 minutes before your train time. You wait to board the train, it was a little chaotic since they forced us to board the train that we didn't want too, we got decent seats though. The ride was nice, you could see old antique trains, 120 year old turbine wheel and giant large tree trunk. You also see the snoqualmie falls and some sheer cliffs. On the train the Conductor took the tickets and passed out certificates. After coming back we walked around with our treasure map, get 4 stamps at different stations and you get a special prize which was stickers. We had fun getting tattoos and stamping trains, Cole also enjoyed the puppet show. The lines to take pictures with Sir Toppen Hat were way to long. The gift shop had everything you can imagine from shirts to books and trains. Tickets were expensive (21$ per person). But I think it is worth it if your kid likes Thomas. Attractions: Imagination Station: train tables, mega blocks play area. Model Train area: large model trains driven around Storyteller station: storytellers, stamping, coloring, Thomas on DVD. Tattoo station: temporary tattoos Puppetshow station: puppet shows Sir Topenhatt station: take picture with Topenhatt Gift shop station: all your Thomas and day out with Thomas merchandise. My son enjoyed it, he's 3. Place is smaller than I expected and rather expensive for a quick train ride. We paid $26/person for everyone over 2 so it adds up if you're a family of 4. The train was very old some windows didn't go up and nothing much to see. Basically there and back within 20 minutes. Only the head of the train had the Thomas logo. Activities included one small area of toy train station (better at kid quest children's museum), and one story time/TV show Thomas in a tent. There was a small stage with people playing children's songs, and a picture taking booth with Sir Toppenhat. Nothing else otherwise besides 2 food stands. We probably wouldn't go back but it was would be worth it to go at least once for the experience. read more

I was highly disappointed with the event today and it was not worth the $26 dollars. For $20, I could have taken a 2 hour train ride that included Snoqualmie Falls. They had a variety of activities for the kids...A puppet show, bounce house, live music/sing along, pictures with Sir Topham Hat, and of course the train ride. My kids were not into the activities (ages 1, 4, and 8). The train ride was only 20 minutes. Plus side, we saw some of Snoqualmie Falls. The event was definitely smaller than they advertised. In their advertisement they only showed up close images so you cannot see the surrounding. Future reference, they should show pictures and videos of the respective locations because people get their hopes up and the event ends up not being what people expected. The area is not really stroller friendly as they have lots of rocks. Tip to anyone going in the future, get in the left line to sit near the from (away from Thomas) and sit in car 2. You will be able to see the falls and Snoqualmie River from there, otherwise, there will be nothing to see. read more

Very dissapointed. Mostly posters and photos plastered onto old trains. Lines for almost everything you do ftom train rides to tattoo that you could do yourself. Overpriced and pretty much a rip off for parents and kids. Unless your kids are 2 and under, they wouldnt care. Save yourself the entrance fees or tickets and take your kids to the park and buy some toys for them later..... trust me... I love Thomas... but this is a let down and i felt cheated. read more

People sure are awfully demanding. My boys have gone to this event for six years and three years respectively. They absolutely LOVE Day Out With Thomas, and they look forward to it annually. Yes, lines can be long. Yes, it can be hot. (This event is always in July, you know what you're getting.) With those "negatives" out of the way... There's live entertainment all day long on the "main" stage. They have a decent sized electronic track set up in the depot and your kids can drive the trains. You can meet Sir Topham Hatt. They have a hilarious puppet show that shows like five or six times daily. They have a tent set up if your kids want to watch Thomas and Friends. In the same tent they have coloring activities. They have a tent with train tracks set up. Yes, this tent will be super busy. Kids like to play with trains. You can also get a temporary tattoo in this tent. They have a bouncy house to bounce in. They have a little skeeter train car (I think that's what it's called) that zips down the track while Thomas is out, and you can ride it as much as you want. You can get your picture taken with Thomas. Yes, these pictures are a bit expensive, but they actually encourage you to use your own camera if you'd like. Also, if you visit four locations and get stamps, you can show the gift shop your completed passport for a free Day Out With Thomas branded gift. Adults will often find them silly. Kids will love them. Your ticket also buys you a ride on train cars (that appear to be) pulled by Thomas. These are original, vintage train cars that are actively being restored by an all volunteer, non-profit group. Our first year out there, some train cars were rougher than others, but every year they improve, and some of the cars are absolutely beautiful and fully restored inside. The ride is billed as 25 minutes long and travels, according to Google Maps, 1.3 miles to an overlook of Snoqualmie Falls and the Snoqualmie River. Considering the train tracks end shortly westward after this spot, and the logistics of driving to North Bend and back (this would be absolutely impossible), the train drives just about as far as it can. (The Christmas train in December doesn't have to deal with the location of the picture stations or the skeeter train, so you can't compare the two) Is it a bit expensive? Sure it is. However, you'd pay a whole lot more if you wanted to travel from Washington to Thomas Land in Massachusetts. (We've done this, I know) If you don't care about riding on Thomas, and if you don't want to buy a ticket, you can still bring the kids and a picnic lunch and sit outside the event and watch Thomas come and go as he hauls train cars full of people back and forth. For our family, it's worth it to make a day full of memories that they'll remember for the rest of their lives. read more

Sounds great, most of the reviews are great but this was the worst! So it was stifling hot in the middle of July 2021. However, it's not the 1900s and although the train is old and has a charm to it, they could've plugged in - at the very least - a fan. The speakers they had set up in each car throughout the train were of very poor sound quality and way too loud! Once we got to the play destination, I was jaw dropped to be reserved. The entire area was set up on bare , dry dirt and the "grass" area and had only one covered sitting area with a canopy. Almost everything was completely exposed. You could take a picture with one of the characters only if you got in line right away from the train ride and then there's a few stations set up which was primarily geared towards very small or toddler children. there was a bubble station that was disgusting and clearly not the proper homeade mixed solution. A little area for cornhole, life size connect four and blocks. There was a hay stack maze and a man with a guitar singing songs. The coolest part was the actual railway museum. Next time, we will just be doing that. I was also disappointed to see outrageously overpriced toys at the end. I mean some of them more than twice the price of what stores and Amazon were charging. They got a tiny little coloring book with no crayons and stickers and a removable tattoo. There was a thomas mask that was just paper and the view of the falls was not a view of the falls. You cannot see a view of the falls from the train. I am blown away by the positive reviews here and can only think that these people are so pissed at the money they spent they wanted to screw other people too because that's just how the world is. In no way was this a fun trip or even worth the money the one star is only because my kid liked the train ride. read more

If you have a kid who loves trains or even doesn't love trains, A Day Out with Thomas is a must! Even if you don't have a kid! We loved our experience and would highly recommend this event! It's really for all ages! The train ride itself isn't long but still just long enough to inspire a love for trains or to bean Engineer! The staff and employees are nice and friendly. There are many fun activities and photo opportunities with Thomas, Sir Topham Hatt and backdrops, not to mention the breathtaking views of mountains, Snoqualmie River and waterfall! What a wonderful event and a chance to see Thomas and Friends in real life! We hope Thomas comes back soon on another journey beyond Sodor! read more

We took our grandsons to the Day out with Thomas, it was terrible!! The train windows are so rotten there are very sharp edges, enough to hurt little fingers! The train ride was MAYBE a mile long! No music for the kids, no characters and the windows in the train do not open, therefore no air. Most of the kids cried because they were so bored, they do not focus on the children!! We ordered the back packs and have not received them! We went on the train ride July 17,2016 it is now the 25th, still no back pals! I ordered the tickets and back packs two weeks before the event?? I really hope they will improve the train ride but am sure they will not!! Don't waste your money it's not worth it I give one star because we at least got our tickets read more

we drove two hours to strausburg-cuyahoga -akron peninsula oh (where?) there was no scenery. they could of at least had non working trains painted set in an old building as tidmouth shed. and have the gift shop at the end not the beginning. the play tables were nice and the model train tent was nice. I'm just glad we didn't drive six hours to the philly area for what little there was for the 75 bucks. read more
