OK, so first off let's start with a good. My boyfriend and I spent the night there because we went to a Viking festival nearby. Yes, you read that right a Viking festival. Don't judge me lol. So this hotel was very close and reasonably priced to Vasa Park, which is where the Viking festival took place. I figured it's a Days Inn not a Ritz, so I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but it is by Wyndham so that makes reputable. Anyway, back to the good... So check-in was easy, the room was clean, bathroom as well. Breakfast the next day was fine. It was a simple continental, breakfast with cereals, muffins, waffles, bagels, yogurt, and coffee. No eggs, breakfast meat or fresh fruit. Staff at the hotel was very nice and the person at the front desk/breakfast area asked several times if we were OK or needed anything else; that shows hospitality. The breakfast room was adorable and very cozy with a nice, warm fireplace. Now for the bad... the tub looked a little bit old, water pressure low, and there were some stains on the sheets and comforter; not huge, but regardless a few little stains. The big negative now....I was not able to sleep very well in that bed because the mattress was very deeply sunken in. I literally felt like I was sleeping on a slide, with my head by the pillow and my body on an incline going down. It was pretty bad. I decided to scoot down into the...I don't know what you even call ...it the sunken part of the mattress, and my feet were nearly off the end of the bed, but I found that was the only way that I could actually sleep. In the meantime, my boyfriend tried to maintain that slide position, but he said that the deep abyss kept pulling him in and he struggled to keep that slide position. I said to him that he should have gone in the hole with me rather than struggle. It sounds a bit funny as I'm writing this but quite honestly it was super uncomfortable and just based on that I would not return. I did not get a good nights sleep whatsoever and neither did my boyfriend. As for the rating, I would give it a two out of five. My boyfriend gives it a three out of five. You can see he is a bit more generous than I am. Though he says I'm being a but harsh. Nonetheless, I would say it's a 2.5 only because the mattress was in very poor condition. If they were to get a new mattress in that room (215) then that would be terrific. I can't say if all the rooms have mattresses in that condition, but that was the case for mine, unfortunately. I found made a reservation reservation for Wyndham Bud Lake NJ through a 800 number from 10-04-10-05 to 10-06-05 for King Suite, but when we arrived at the hotel at 3 PM on 10-04 the only reservation was a queen bed with handicap reservation. The front desk employee was rude and refused to follow the reservation even though we had a written confirmation saying a third party made the resevation. Very poor room and poor employees read more

Everything needs to improve. The service, the cleanliness, and the continental breakfast needs improving. The rooms need an update. The front desk employees were very rude and confrontational. They limited how many utensils guest could use during their stay. They disregarded the ants infestation our first night. And they willingly argued with guest. Absolute horrible experience my girlfriend and I came into the hotel booked a room then we went our room and I was shocked at how dirty it was pizza boxes, bathroom was gross , bed sheets all over the floor looked like someone just left. Then we went downstairs to get our refund and the hotel guy kept insisting on getting us another room and I kept saying no I would like a refund and after the 10th time he finally said we would get it in the morning which at that point I was like fine. Then we went outside and he tried to accuse us of tampering with the room and I said go and check the camera I didn't bring any pizza boxes with me and we were in there for only 1 minute too take pictures. If you want a terrible experience in a run down hotel with staff who are rude to you then you come here I would rather sleep at a garbage dump you probably have a better chance of catching a disease here too be honest completely the grosses hotel I have ever scene. read more

I'm staying at this hotel to be close to the wedding venue where I'll be working tomorrow and I have to say I'm glad I chose to stay at this hotel. The man working the front desk area is so incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating. The room is very comfortable and clean. I wasn't really expecting much since I booked this hotel at the last minute and at third-party discount prices, but it was well worth it and I can say that I got my money's worth. 5 stars because...my stay was great...it began as a nightmare with HOTELS.COM booking my smoking room as a nonsmoking room. The property promptly assessed a $100 surcharge be fore switching my room because I had a few puffs on a cigarette in the nonsmoking room! However, KP Patel was very accommodating and switched my room to a smoking room. KP did check on my stay and asked if the accommodations were now satisfactory 3 times during my stay... The hotel is obviously being operated by those seeking maximum profitability, and this shows up in the shortcuts being taken relative to the conditions of the hotel and service provided. First, the lock on my door was defective...it took at least 20 tries to get the door open. I sought help from the front desk, and the attendant would come to my room to show me some "secret technique" to make the lock work, and even he took 20 or so tries to get the door open. He repeatedly promised me he'd replace the lock, but did not do so for 3 long days. Finally, after 3 days of this frustration, they changed my lock and all went smoothly afterward. I heard other guests complaining about this issue...it seems it is a problem for many of the rooms. The room had an overbearing smell of the stuff they use on the carpets...a really strong detergent-like smell. Perhaps someone had been smoking in the room and they were trying to mask the odor? The bath towels are both tiny and way over their "shelf life." And, most had permanent stains in them that made them unfit for use. Seriously, these towels were mostly old, threadbare and more suited for use as "car rags" than to dry one's body off. Simply put, they were disgusting. Note to owners: INVEST IN NEW TOWELS NOW! The internet signal was very weak, meaning that I could not send or reply to emails while in my room. Housekeeping was erratic, and while they emptied the trash and generally cleaned up the room, they never once made the beds? Perhaps this is some type of rule they follow? The website advertises a fitness center. In reality, there is a windowless room that is empty except for an unplugged treadmill. Finally, the elevator was often inoperable in that it would go up, but not down. I reported this to the front desk attendant, who said, "I know" yet never placed a sign warning guests. Overall, a below-average operation at best. I shortened my trip to New Jersey by two days just to get out of this hotel. I'll never stay there again. read more

This hotel has the worst front desk staff I have ever seen. I've had to be here for an extended stay and will never come back again. The "manager" changes rates when he feels like it. Watches how much you are getting for breakfast. Claims other guests are complaining when they are not. This has to be the worst hotel in the Wyndham chain. There is a toddler staying in the room with me. He complained because the baby was laughing at the breakfast section. Asked are you done? Yeah why? People are complaining about the kid. Really? In 10 minutes while getting breakfast. The room. Filthy. Air works for 5 minutes then shuts off. Holes in the ceiling. Stains on the rugs. Cigarette burns on the blankets. Now the housekeeping staff are very friendly. They just don't know how to clean. There is dust about 2 inches thick in here. And the smell of marijuana is crazy. Pictures to follow. Fitness center? What fitness center? UGH! And the wifi? A joke. Blocked cable channels that should be available too. I do not recommend this hotel. At all. And I've been to other Wyndham locations. I booked a room at this hotel when visiting family. My friend and I were exhausted and checked in around 8pm. I checked the fitness center, before going up as I like to do a morning routine. One treadmill, one elliptical, some medicine balls, I think a mat and that was it. This does not represent what was in the picture the hotel provided, which had a bike, weight machine, etc. Figured I'd just skip the workout. This didn't bother me otherwise. When my friend and I entered our room, it was like a wave hit us. Though this was a smoking room, I figured it would still be decent enough to stay. We could barely stay in the room for a few minutes, it was that awful. The air was thick, the smell was strong, and I started to get sick. We were NOT staying in this room. We went back to the main floor to speak with the front desk, Harry, about the issue and how to fix the situation. Unfortunately, he said that there were no other rooms available and that the hotel was booked solid. There was no way we were going to stay in that room, so we left. I called Expedia to cancel the reservations and to proceed with a possible refund. I was told the manager would not be in until Monday (10/23/17). I found this odd, since it was not only the weekend, but also a booked hotel. Spoke with a friend who used to work at the hotel and she confirmed the consistent awful conditions and poor management. Two weeks of trying to call the hotel to work things out and contacting corporate on the situation. Manager is difficult to reach. Corporate seems understanding, but the Budd Lake hotel doesn't seem keen on talking. Hotel front desk claimed they called me (they didn't), said I get no refund despite not staying at the hotel, and hung up on me. I also suspect that the employee on the phone misrepresented himself as a manager. Corporate issues an apology and states that the hotel in question will contact by 10/30/17. I have still heard nothing from them. I cannot recommend this hotel to anybody. This is the third website where I made a negative review about this hotel and I will continue to warm people about this horrible experience, until we've come to a resolution. Please heed my warning and stay away from this hotel. If you experience any problem, front desk (cause the manager will NOT be there to help) will not work with you to make sure your stay is comfortable. UPDATE (11/1/17) After contacting corporate a few more times and having them contact the hotel for any resolution, the hotel remains silent. They do not appear to care about providing great customer service. Corporate gave me basically two discounted nights at other hotels. I would've preferred getting a full refund. I am still seeking something from the hotel itself. UPDATE (11/3/17) I have been contacted by the manager at the Days Inn property in Budd Lake, NJ and we have come to a resolution in regards to the overall situation where I received a refund for the room in question. Have stayed here a few times. First 4 nights charged $280, needed to stay 3-4 more and they charged $428. Very shady about what they were charging. Just kept saying you are ok. I had also given $190 in cash when reserving the second 4 nights thinking we would settle the balance the day before I would leave. Didn't know if it would be 3 or 4 days. Charged me the entire amount (4) on my card, and didn't want to give me my cash back. Going to credit my card. The toilet overflowed flooding bathroom and part of room. This place shouldn't even be open. The rooms all smell of smoke- even the nonsmoking ones. The front desk staff was pleasant but it doesn't offset the fact that the rooms are practically a hazard. Broken outlets and wires were visible. The cleaning staff knocked multiple times on my door despite the do not disturb sign and it also didn't matter that it was before the required checkout time. Wtf! What is the issue with refunding my money? Got there checked in a little after 7:30pm by 9pm my friend is telling me she don't wanna stay at this hotel because it is dingy! Dark! Everything smells like smoke! Nothing like the picture on their website or Expedia! 9:30pm I was giving the key back and checking out of the room! Not even two hour I got on the chat line with a agent from Expedia he calls the hotel and say "she occupied the room for 3 hours so I can't issue an refund" Do the math does that make any damn sense?!? and the biggest laugh is I called this hotel 3 times to get information about a deposit and it seem like it's always one person answering the phone with a accent I asked him about the deposit for the room he said he will waive it .. so I called back again a week later same person asking about the deposit again, he said he will waive the deposit and all I have to do is pay $25 ... what?!? I'm gunna pay you off the waive something I'm going to get back?? I told him no! How much is the deposit I said I booked thru Expedia .. he said ok you have to pay the $50 .. EXACTLY! Mind you all the same voice. All of a sudden this man accent changes as soon as I get there tellin him the room is dirty .. he was able to clearly tell me that they don't issue refunds! CLEAR AS DAY! I call this hotel back as I writing this review the same man answered! With an accent! It a one man show! They playing with peoples money up there! Terrible experience. I generally like Days Inn, but this one was a wreck. We had to wait 10 minutes for the front desk attendant to come back from a smoke break just to check in. There was mud all over the floors in the lobby and dirty hallways leading to the rooms. Our first room's heater was broken, and the second room had only been cleaned part way (dirty towels and used soap in the bathroom). As a Wyndham rewards member I've stayed in a lot of Days Inn across the country. This hotel, for the price, was great. Not a bad little place! We're visiting family for the holidays, and so far, so good. The staff is friendly, our room is clean and comfy, and the place is located well (right next to a great little 24hr diner and across the street from a 24hr laundromat). The only issue we've had so far, is the STRONG smell of mildew in the elevator, which is probably weather related, and I'm sure they're looking into. We'd consider staying here again. read more

The first room I was placed in, in this hotel, the locks did not work. I requested to be put in a different room immediately due to the fact I had an infant with me and I did not feel safe in an unlocked room. The man at the front desk had no issues putting me in a different room. The second room I was placed in was absolutely disgusting. The floor was covered with blood. There was also blood on the mirrors and the shower curtain. The headboard also was covered in hand prints from the people that stayed in the room before me. The appliances in the room were covered in thick dust and garbage was under the bed. As I was going to the lobby to check out I had to take the stairs because the elevator was not working. When I reached the stairs I slipped and almost fell, while carrying an infant, because the ice machine was broken and leaked all the melted ice on the floor. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. I booked a 2 night stay at this hotel and stayed for only a few hours before leaving. It's been close to a month since my stay with them and I'm still waiting for my refund to be issued. They owe me close to 200$ and refunded me 9$. idk where to even start... the manager is a complete idiot and has absolutely no people skills or concideration towards people. The rooms and hallways not only smelled of smoke (not only cigs) but was absolutely freezing. I found bugs in the beds and stains on the walls,sheets and towles. The tub looked as if it hasnt been cleaned in months and i refused to get in without cleaning it up as best as i could and wear sandles while using my own towles from my house. I was provided with less then a half of roll of toliet paper and it took house keeping over ten minutes to give to the girl at the front desk because their suply wasnt stocked. Not only did house keeping take forever to get it but the guy spoke little to no english and kept arguing with the reseptionist about him getting it. She was exstremily sorry and a very plesent lady. Prob the only one who knew what she was doing. They provide breakfast but do yourself the favor and dont eat it. There is a diner next door. The bagles were squished and some had mold, the cream cheese and creamers werent refridgerated and the cream cheese and yougert had exspired by days. i went to get the only think left that i was intrested in JUICE and the manager told me i already had a glass that i could not have any more and shut the machine off after arguing with me. i then asked if there were any vending machines and i was told that there is one on the first floor only and it was for soda only. I was very disopointed to see that the vending machine only had mt dew available. The other options were out of stock and they had no chips or snack machine. Online it says there is a buisness and fitness room and none of that is true. i was told they are out of use. Then lastely i was walking threw the hall way to leave the buuilding i stumbled upon the reseptionist moping. I thought that was the house keepers responcibility. Neither less the mop was moldy and black and the lady was only told to throw cups of water on the ground and use that n the moldy smelly mop to mop the lobby and hall way. WHAT kind of cleaning is that. When i asked her about it she just said that is what she was provided with and was threatened to be fired if she didnt do it. I would not recomend this place to anyone. Stayed here for a wedding (10/6&7/17)Everyone, including the bridal party and guests had issues with reserving rooms, rates, discounts, not being able to speak with he "contact" person they gave, etc...and basically said something different every conversation. I called to speak with the "contact person", who stated he was unsure if he could have the rate given to us for both fri/sat, and that he'd have to check with his manager and for me to call back the next day. When I did, they didn't transfer me to the contact person and said all the rooms that they had blocked were taken and that I'd have to pay the new increased rate now because they had another wedding party book there...essentially, price gouging us. Also, the rate online differs from what they said which they tried to explain was because non-smoking rooms cost more. Then I had requested to be next to the bride since I was in the bridal party, and upon checking in, I wasn't even on the same floor, so I had to switch rooms... They only had 1 hand cart for the whole hotel, and only the ice machine on the first floor worked. The bathrooms needed a serious scrub as well, the floors were pretty gross and there was some mold underneath the sink on the caulk. Some of the guests hadn't been able to check in right away on Friday and they charged their cards that they were booked with. Would definitely not recommended this for anyone looking for rooms for a wedding, they really weren't set up for it or understood the needs and WAY too expensive for a Days Inn ($140/night with AAA discount, was $330 after taxes/fees for 2 nights). read more

If you're looking for a chain place to rest your head for the night this is it. I second what another poster said that the tv's could be updated, but I'm not too much of a tv watcher anyway. It's a place to lay your head before you travel on to elsewhere. As other posters have stated, I did initially have an issue with the housekeeping staff. They tried to loudly kick us out 5 minutes before check out as we were packing our bags. We talked to the manager and our next visit housekeeping was extremely polite to us. The Wyndnam Hotel group is usually excellent, however staying at this Days Inn in Budd Lake was a horrible experience. The walls were dirty, wallpaper was falling off the walls, accoutic ceiling tiles were badly damaged, all lights were not operational and the wi-fi was not working. When we complained, we were told that our room would be discounted and we would be able to switch our room the next evening. However, they took it upon themselves to "fix" the problems with the room. Upon returning to our room after 9:30pm, we were informed that everything was fixed. However, overwhelming fumes from a open container of contact cement (with the brush still inside of the can) was left on the table in our room. After complaining again, we were moved to another room. We decided not to stay there another night and were told that our credit card wouldn't be charged unless we complained to corporate! Extortion! read more
