I don't understand why hotels and motels do things seemingly deliberately to piss of their guests. This was a comfortable and convenient place to stay, BUT: 1. Why charge $10 a day for self-parking? There's one parking lot, it's adequate, and it's not like people have a choice to park off-site somewhere. This is literally along a suburban highway. 2. We requested and got housekeeping on day 2 of our 4-day stay, but having a room cleaned seems like it should be part of a hotel stay and not something you have to ask for in advance. 3. Provide free coffee in the lobby for God's sake, like every other midrange hotel in the world. Charging $4 for a cup of meh coffee is unacceptable, and when the hotel isn't even replacing the room coffee pods due to not making up the rooms, those of us with a caffeine addiction don't have many choices. Propinquity to whole foods was a plus because we could keep breakfast in the room fridge and never eat the hotel's gross not-free breakfast. read more

I've stayed at this location twice now for a little staycation, and both experiences were great. Check-in was quick and friendly. As a Marriott Bonvoy member, I was offered bottled water at arrival, which I appreciated. The hotel is clean and modern. The bed was comfortable, and the sheets and blankets were cozy. They also provide nice bath products (shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel), which was a nice touch.The room itself is a good size and includes a pull-out couch, which worked well for our stay. The water pressure in the shower was great too. We thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The first time, we did the Bed & Breakfast package and had breakfast downstairs--French toast, bacon, and home fries--which was pretty good. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, but both times it happened to be closed, which was a little odd. The hotel also has a pool and a gym, though we didn't get a chance to use them. The price was fair, and the location is tucked away nicely off the highway, so it feels quiet and private. It made for a perfect little escape. We've officially named this our "staycation headquarters" for when we need a reset away from home. There are plenty of food options in the area too--there's a local pizzeria that delivers, and the pizza is phenomenal. Overall, I have no complaints. Highly recommend and we definitely look forward to returning again. read more

Really not good. We did not have wifi - wouldn't even connect. I requested daily housekeeping on check-in, and they never came. They have a tiny little trash bin ... So I had to call them to empty it. Lady said "they're too busy to do housekeeping for everyone who wants it". Then, I prepaid for a family breakfast. They gave us the limited menu upon check-in. Ok. But then they wouldn't honor it and said our kids had to choose from a different menu. Well, why wasn't that given to us on check-in. They only gave us one menu. At least they took it off the bill when we refused it. Jacuzzi is broken, the pool is tiny, and the gym is over 20 years old. Only gave 2 stars because it was relatively clean. Came here since a friend has Marriott perks and we needed a quaint place to stay for two nights. It did it's job. Right off the highway, it's pretty convenient to supermarkets (Whole Foods and ShopRite) and restaurants. Parking was adequate, though the ones close to the door get taken quite quickly when it's below zero degrees outside! The rooms were clean, and it was pretty quiet. No complaints on my end. I know there's a gym and a pool, but didn't get to explore as I was tired both days of travel. The lounge area was pretty nice with a fire. read more

The hotel customer service is the worst for all my experiences with Marriott. 1. I stayed there for 3 nights, but I don't get any housekeeping services for the first 2 nights. So I requested to clean my room on the 2nd day, so I hope I can enjoy for my last night, but I have been told I have to request that 24 hours ahead, meaning l won't get any housecleaning during my 3 night stay! The associate insist this is their policy but no one ever mentioned that to me when I checked in, nor states in their website description. 2. I asked for a bottle of water on my 3rd day, but been told I am only eligible for 1 bottle of water for my entire stay. Then I told the associate that I'm a platinum member can I receive just one extra bottle. He refused and told me 90% of his hotel guests are platinum member as this is nothing to Marriott. I'm very upset that this is the way Platinum member is been treated in this hotel. 3. One night I was not feeling good so I texted the front desk if they could deliver some water to my room. I waited for like 10 minutes and got replies that they will response asap. It has been 2 days, they have not responded yet. They don't care and willing to help. They treat customers like homeless people who is trying to use their restroom. So disappointed. read more

Don't walk....run away from this place. If I could give this dump less than one star I would. Lobby smells like garbage. Booked a king room with pull out sofa bed, returned to room around midnight and pulled out the sofa bed. Disgusting stains and lord knows what excreta on the mattress (see photo). I wouldn't put an any living creature on that mattress. The sofa was also torn so there is no way they didn't know that the piece was in poor condition. Went to the front desk, showed the photo, and asked for another room for two members of my party that were supposed to use the pull out. Clearly explained that two members of my party needed another room and the other two would stay in the original room. Initially was told that the room was just a "king" room - um no, not according to my reservation. They did give us another room - It's about midnight at this point in time . About 30 min later maintenance tried to enter the original room, waking me up, so they could "fix" the sofa. Then, maintenance went to the other room and banged on the door, waking and scaring the two members of my party who had just relocated there. Called the front desk and was told they didn't understand that part of the party would remain in the original room. Instead of owning their crappy furniture conditions and failure to understand the needs of their guests they were unwilling to accept responsibility, accept their own misunderstanding. My party would have been better off sleeping in our car. read more

Facilities were clean and in good shape, and service was better than average, but we were looking forward to using the pool and it was underheated and uncomfortable. The hot tub was out of commission entirely (they try to hide it under a bunch of mats). There is one thing that makes it certain I will not return to this hotel: they distribute the Epoch Times, a propaganda rag from the right wing Falun Gong cult, in their lobby, instead of a legitimate paper. I stayed two nights this past weekend on a business trip down to NJ. Overall it was a bit below my expectations given the price rate but I suppose it wasn't all that terrible either. First the good parts, it was definitely very conveniently off rt 46 and very close to I80, I love how close it was to all the different restaurants and shops in the area. My room itself was actually pretty nice, the furniture are relatively new and I have no complaints about the bathroom. I only wish I wasn't given the ground corner room at the end of the hotel on the opposite side of the ice machine. The second morning the trash pick up truck was definitely a bit of a nuisance since the bins are right outside of the rooms window. But I guess that room must have been the lowest rate when I booked hence I got stuck with it lol. The TV system is nice that it works with most of the internet TV streaming now but I hated how I couldn't adjust the brightness and color of the TV making it hard to see at time. And lastly of course is that the pool was still closed when I visited which was disappointing, it seems to be working fine too but I'm guessing its a COVID related restriction. I didn't have any major issues that needed to reach out to the staff but the check in process was relatively simple and quick. You can't go wrong here if visiting Parsippany NJ. some other hotels in area are outdated etc. you get what you need here; a good room, bed, functional A/C, clean and fresh. Beautiful new lobby with pay Bistro. No free breakfast buffet. But had really good breakfast burrito from buffet. Service was super friendly, fitness center and pool are small but sufficient. I wasn't impressed at all. The hallways/stairwells were dirty like they haven't been cleaned since COVID started. My room was hot when I opened the door. The bedspread has a spot of blood on it. The bathroom had hair on the floor. The table/desk had something dried on it (milk? Ice cream? Booger?). I almost asked for a different room, but it was late and all I wanted to do was go to sleep. Plus I didn't have a good check in experience and didn't think the night auditor would be receptive. She didn't inform me about anything. No internet access information, no food status, pool or gym status, nothing. I won't be staying at this Marriott again. I have it saved as a favorite to make sure I avoid it. One thing I forgot to add. The last several Marriott's I've stayed at had seals on the doors showing they were cleaned and sanitized. Obviously something new due to COVID. This room didn't have that. We stayed there on our way to NYC, I booked the room through the hotel website by applying AAA rate for like $81, it's was well worth it. The staff was friendly but they didn't go out of their way as we asked for one hour late checkout as I didn't check in till almost 9:00 but they declined it, there was a oriental guy working the morning shift. The rooms were roomy, they had coffee maker, mini fridge etc only one soap for sink and the bath tub but general very clean, we got the balcony room on third floor, their restaurant in the lobby or more like a lounge closed at 10:00 but there is a TGIF on walking distance so we went there. In the morning they serve Starbucks coffee out of their lounge with breakfast but no free breakfast, the jacuzzi by the pool wasn't working. Overall a nice and clean hotel, I will say there again if I go by there. read more

Good morning! As I said every day to the parking lot paving guys. Every night I'd get a special letter, please move your vehicle from the parking lot before 8am. If I worked all nite and had to get up at 8am to move my car I'd be livid. That being said, The Courtyard Parsippany was a welcomed hotel during my stay in New Jersey. They don't offer free breakfast and the hot tub wasn't hot!? But it sure was nice to take a dip in the pool and relax after a long day. So! I play hockey and booked this hotel because it had a whirlpool/pool. After a week of being slammed into glass walls by 6'5 defensemen and hours in freezing cold arenas, I needed a nice soothing whirlpool and a small pool to do some flexibility exercises. There was a less expensive Residence Inn a few towns over with free breakfast but that hotel did not have a whirlpool/pool and after verifying with the hotel by phone that they had a working whirlpool/pool, I paid the extra to stay here at the Courtyard. When I got to the hotel, less than 48 hours after my call to verify that they had these amenities, after I checked in I noticed a sign that said 'Closed until further notice' on the whirlpool/pool door. The only reason I booked this hotel was for these amenities. I am not the type of hotel guest who makes demands for free things, etc. for little issues. If someone leaves a gum wrapper under the bed or the maid leaves a hair or two on the sink, I am not the type to complain. Its a business that operates based on people, so there will be minor mistakes. But, this was a major issue revolving around the very reason I booked this hotel and took the time to try to verify that these amenities were functional. I had stayed at a Marriott property in a different state a few months before this stay where the internet kept going out while I was there. They saw me leaving the hotel to go to the McDonalds down the street in order to do my work using the McDonalds wifi and without my even asking gave me 10,000 rewards points because of the inconvenience. I did ask for some points in compensation for the whirlpool/pool fiasco at this Courtyard upon checking out. The front desk agent told me that he was not able to do that but he would talk to his GM and he was sure something could be done. He took my name/number and a week went by. I called back and asked to speak with the Manager. I was told she was out so they again took my name/email. A week went by. I called again and this time got the Manager or GM's voicemail. I left a message for her about the situation and never received a call back. Customer Service from the top level here is lacking which is why I will not stay here again while in the area for business. Take care of your customers and they will return. Ignore them and they'll stay at the less expensive Residence Inn down the road with free breakfast and less amenities. read more

This is a decent Courtyard Marriott hotel. Rooms were fairly recently renovated, they're on the large side, and the beds are comfortable. I've found myself really liking the Courtyard brand over the past year or so. In many cases it's because the hotel is predictable- comfortable rooms, Bistro restaurant and bar in the lobby, and a pool with a hot tub. While this particular location has nothing truly unique about it, the hotel does conform to the Courtyard brand which is nice that I know exactly what I am going to get. While the bar/restaurant does have typical Marriott pricing (like $16 for an 8 ounce glass of Chardonnay), I've come to expect that. Really the only thing that I don't like about this particular location is how strongly they chlorinate the pool. Each time I've used it my skin is left extremely dry- once it was so bad that my hair got bleached after being in it for a half hour. read more

We had a great one night stay here. Had to book last minute using points the night after Christmas. It was great value for the amount of points used. The room was not renovated superrrr recently but updated enough. It was clean and the staff were pleasant. I was particularly happy that the rooms were soundproofed well and overall was very quiet. Didn't eat at the bistro but grabbed coffees at the bistro in the morning and they were good as well! Didn't use amenities but room itself was great for a short stay. read more

Wow, what a difference a few years makes! Everything I whined about in my last review has been fixed. They have completely remodeled this hotel, from the lobby to the bistro to the guest rooms. The guest rooms have new wallpaper, furniture, carpet, and bathrooms. The hallways and common areas got the same treatment. The staff was very nice, from check-in to check-out and the room was very clean. This is now my new go-to hotel when I am visiting North New Jersey. read more

Love this place. Super convenient...right off the highway and close to tons of shopping. Staff is always nice and accommodating (special shout out to Jackie at the front desk! She went out of her way to make my stay easy and comfortable). Beds are comfy, rooms are clean. Love the option of getting Netflix, Hulu, etc on the TV. If you luck out getting a balcony (and don't mind a little noise from the passing cars), it makes the already decent size room feel much bigger. Do not be deceived by the a regal exterior of this facility! This castle falls as far short from royalty as a mean troll on a bad hair day. My only comparable Hotel Horror experience was some dungeon in NYC where the roaches ran deliveries for the drug dealers and the local yokels partied hardy 'till the crack of dawn. The fact that this facility does not appear to have anthropods scurrying about its aged carpets is perhaps its one redeeming feature. Our tale of woe began upon our arrival when we were denied our wedding gift bag and only rolled downhill into crypt from there. I was kept awake all night by an infernal background hum that I can only imagine was used as a form of torture in the gulag. Then, I stagger sleep deprived to breakfast ( that is not complimentary by the way!) and return to my room with a cartoon of milk only to have it pour into my coffee in cheese-like clumps. And no, I'm just getting started! The key to our 6th floor room glitched out ( also for numerous other residents). Okay, so stuff happens right? Tell that to the rude room attendant nearby who refused to assist my partner who was suffering with a back injury forcing him to limp down to the 1st floor for assistance. Now please don't go away just yet - I'm on a roll! We returned from the wedding reception near midnight to find the room completely unattended after having been assured this would be taken care of by the front desk. In a nutshell, you will be better off booking the Munster Motel in the dark backwoods of Transylvania then this loser! read more

I did not really know what to expect when flying into a state that I have never been to and to top it off, during a pandemic. As a healthcare worker who volunteered to go help another hospital, it was very reassuring to have the staff at this hotel go above and beyond. Alex in guest services, made sure that my colleagues and I had everything we needed. He also made sure we were able to get our packages after we were placed into an apartment . As anyone who has ever stayed in a Courtyard by Marriott before knows, every Courtyard is pretty standard. This one has a few extra touches which are really pleasant. They have both wired and wireless High Speed Internet Access, they always have coffee, decaf and hot water for tea ready in the lobby and they even have a lounge. The lounge is open Monday through Thursday and for special events. If you are going to be in the area, this place is a good choice. read more

This stay began ok. Front desk guy was very nice. The toilet kept running all night even after is was fixed twice. The bathtub water had no pressure. That wasn't the worst thing. Seems like front desk people have no customer service skills these days. The sunday person was no where to be found when I left at 9 00a.m and called out for someone. Then at 3 30 p.m I came in and again noone came when I called. Again at 5 00 p.m so I went to the back and this arrogant girl came out. I wanted to extend for 1 night. I told her about the plumbing she did nothing. Then she insisted I show her I D which was up in my room. After 3 nights did I really need to take the elevator upstairs after walking down a long long hall to bring it down? The last 2 desk people didn't ask me for it. It was obvious she was trying to give me a difficult time. When voices got loud she threatened to call the police. Can you imagine with all the terrible things going on she wants to bother police? I never stayed at a Courtyard by Marriott before. I really liked it. That bed was the comfiest bed I had ever slept in...Ever! The room was clean and I liked how it was situated. The pool is small and they have a jacuzzi. I liked both. I went in at night and it was empty so it was nice to have some alone time. Everything seemed really clean and cozy. We stayed here specifically for the heated pool and it was broken. Then we were lied to by the front desk as they told us that it was not a heated pool when it is clearly stated on their website. On top of that the hot tub was broken, our room was infested with ants and our coffee pot was broken. When I contacted the front desk the woman assured me that we would be compensated for our stay as she wrote down all of our problems that we had. After finally receiving a call from the incredibly rude manager Kimberly, we were told that they knew nothing about our problems during our stay and there was nothing they could do. I'm a "Marriott Rewards" member and usually always try to stay with Marriott but not any more. This stay felt more like a Budget Inn motel. read more

Problems with room block for WEDDING! Where should I even begin...Lets see, I booked this hotel for my wedding WHAT A BIG MISTAKE!!! DON'T DO IT!!! I'm just going to list the problems it's easier that way 1. Was promised a suite upgrade if 10 rooms were booked...booked the 10 room... suite didn't happen 2. Was promised a free night if no suite available...didn't happen 3. When I mentioned the mix up i was given 4 room keys and told to go look at the rooms and see which one I wanted!! WHAT!! WHO DOES THAT!!!! DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT ROOMS ARE SUITES!!! LIKE WHAT!!! SO NOW I HAVE TO WALK ALL OVER YOUR HOTEL LOOKING AT ROOMS TO FIGURE IT OUT!! UNACCEPTABLE. 4. SEVERAL...SEVERAL (5 THAT I KNOW OF) of my guests reservations were wrong. 5. One guest booked for 2 nights, they only had him down for 1 despite his email confirmation of 2 nights so they put him in one room and MADE HIM MOVE ROOMS THE NEXT DAY!!! 6. Ended up with a King room with a Jacuzzi, which would have been fine, but there were spiders and weds in the Jacuzzi, so it clearly had NOT BEEN CLEANED IN SOME TIME!!! We requested late check out as we were getting married and my husband obviously could not come to my room to get ready and check OUT is at 12 and limo was not picking him up until 1:30 so we requested late check out and guess what...They came to the room at 11 looking for him to check out. No record of the late checkout request. BUT HEY.. But on the Plus side the shuttle was there and back on time......they did refund MY rooms but still not the experience i should have had!! read more

My husband stays at the Sheraton every week, but sadly it wasn't on Accenture's approved list this week because it was very expensive, so we had to stay at the courtyard. Pool is not working, WIFI is very very weak, and the front desk staff suck! The only pleasant and decent staff in this hotel is the cleaning staff!! I'm giving this review because when I was selecting a hotel, I looked for an honest review of this particular hotel. Here's mine: The pros are that the beds are comfortable and is conveniently located on a major road near eateries and a pharmacy. The cons are that the pool is small and has a really strong chlorine smell that will linger. The pool is also really cold, I couldn't stay in more than a minute. The jacuzzi was just okay. The bistro was nothing to be desired. It was just heated pre-packaged food. If you need a quick convenient stay, this place is perfect. Otherwise go with plan B. Great Rate, Friendly Staff & Comfy Beads! I flew from Chicago to LaGuardia (Dec. 19) on the first leg of the trip to bring my college age daughter and her friend home for the holidays from Long Island. I rarely take a road trip without making a reservation, but took a chance because we wanted to get out of the New York traffic that night. We stumbled onto this place when we missed the Hampton off the highway exit. It was perfect. We all needed a good night sleep to prepare for the 14 hour drive home. Two comfortable queen beds, a clean room, a great rate ($99) and very friendly staff: from the guy who checked us in at around 10 pm to the staff who took our order at breakfast. If I fly out to drive back home to Chicago again, I'll definitely book this hotel in advance. read more

Rude front desk lady! The hotel over all looks decent, But when we checked in they gave us a different room then what we booked. When i tried talking to front desk lady about it she got all nasty on me her immediate answer I'm sorry but i "Can't help you" all other room are given out to some corporate guest when I continued trying to bring out my point that i paid for a different type of room she started screaming at me like a maniac that's when i backed off and went over to a different employee who was more understanding kind enough to help us in a few minutes. Being a Marriott platinum member with 76 nights this year alone i was very disappointed by this kind of attitude My weekend wasn't the same afterwords. i dont think i would ever go back there to hotel. read more

Stayed here 3 nights over the Thanksgiving holiday. Check-in was smooth and easy with our reservation and special request. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed. There was a small balcony which allowed for some cool air if the room became too hot. We did not sample the food although I am told the breakfast buffet ($11.95) was pretty good. My wife enjoyed the heated indoor pool and hot tub to work off some of the turkey stupor. Check-out was easy and when a bathing suit (guess whose?) was forgotten in the room, the front desk retrieved it for pick up after our return from one final family visit. For the most part, the staff is rude and unwelcoming. The rooms needed a good cleaning and so did most of the hotel. The first floor by the elevator smelled like rotting fish. The bathrooms were disgusting (my room and the public one) and the internet was slower than slow. There were aslo crumbs on the couch. The bed was clean and comfortable.
