I'm in no position to fact-check grim anecdotes that sound like Ralph Wiggum's story about the closet, but I can say my own visits were pleasant all three times I visited, which is surely a record for a tristate area hotel. The rooms have pleasant, the service was friendly and the location was excellent. Geography note: parking price complaints need to be considered in the regional context. Hotels that are actually in walkable downtowns are quite rare in the burbs. Why, yes, you will get a better deal on Route 46. Of my first two Morristown staycations, the first one was mostly occupied by Oscar-watching and the second was during the NJ Transit strike so I postponed my Dover Detour. But this time I did it the right way. It was my first time in Morristown NJ and it did not disappoint. I was here on a business trip and this was the hotel that my coworkers had all set them at so we could carpool to and from. It is pretty big, I got dropped off on the side/back and took a little while to find the lobby to check in. Staffs were friendly and helpful and the room was clean when I got there. There was some sort of laundry cleaning machine above the building or something that was going on into the middle of the night - other than that the stay was what I expected. I really do love the fact that there were many good restaurants walking distance and would highly recommend! I did get to use their gym for one morning session before work and it def got crowded close to 7AM. There is a cafe there and I can see it being a little disorganized - there was a staff there that was just a joy and made the stay a good extra touch. Overall, aside from the cleaning machine, the stay was pretty decent and wouldn't mind staying here again for future business trips. read more

We stayed here on 2/22 during an incredibly stressful situation -- my 86-year-old mother had fallen and broken her leg and needed surgery the next morning. With a storm (ahem blizzard) approaching, we chose to stay close to the hospital. She was wheelchair-bound, and managing everything was not easy. The staff was extraordinary. A young man in the parking area immediately stepped in to help with all of our luggage. A manager (short blonde haircut) personally made sure we were settled and comfortable. The next morning, two security guards dropped what they were doing and kindly helped me get my mother safely into the car. Every interaction was warm, professional, and compassionate. In a very difficult moment, their team made all the difference. Truly grateful for the care and kindness we experienced here. read more

This hotel is tired. I realize it's a downtown, business hotel, but the rooms are old and need to be refreshed. The lobby is okay but it's vast and impersonal. The whole experience except for the TV reminds me of the eighties, maybe the nineties. The climate controls in the room ate dated too. Dining options are limited. Staff were all friendly, competent and professional, which helps make up for a lot. Just don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. read more

I had a good experience at the Hyatt Regency. I was traveling for business and I loved how close it was to where I needed to be plus there are so many restaurants to walk to. There is a crunch fitness gym attached to the hotel that you are able to use if you show your hotel key card. I really wanted to try the hotel restaurant but it didn't open until 4. I ended up walking to a restaurant that was nearby. The room itself was clean and had LOTS of lights. I did find the walls to be very thin. I had a difficult time sleeping because I could hear the entire neighbors conversation on whether he should or shouldn't have another coors light. If you are questioning it, the answer is always no. I did feel the hotel was very pricey. I'm guessing because of the location. I would stay here again when in town on business. read more

This is a difficult review to write because at it's base this Hyatt Hotel is a modern comfortable room, happening bar, right in the center of Morristown--a great town. It's just that the things that happened to us during our stay here for 5 Nights over Labor Day Weekend--I will not book here again. First the good: We booked here because we had Friday meetings and needed to be walking distance to restaurants, other locations in Jersey and New York. Fantastic location. We experienced that Wedding Parties, Conventions, Romantic Couple Getaways all were here in this hotel too with us. I really liked the lobby and bar area. I can't think of a better location to stay in a hotel in this area especially if you want to party nearby and drink and not have to drive. It's perfect. Easy Self-Parking is $25 a day right under the Hotel with a garage entrance into the hotel. The garage is Very dark at night. The Room was quiet like we requested, and the shower and bathroom worked well. Towels: Some new, some stained, some old. You never knew what you were going to get. After hours orders for soap bars and towels came up fast and friendly. -Here is where things went seriously off the rails at this Hotel with behavior I have not seen in 40 years of professional travel anywhere, ever. And the top management here knows all about it--and it has left a very bad taste in my mouth. We arrived back at the hotel after 11 PM one of the nights to find that there were inadequate towels, a cleaning towel left on the back of the toilet, and sheets not properly on the bed and a couple of other things. We just ordered more towels and went to bed. It's annoying, but on our busy schedule we cannot take time to deal with this--it will be cured the next day servicing. The next night we arrive back at the hotel after 11 PM to find that the room was Not Serviced at All! We call down for service and are reprimanded by the from desk clerk alleging that that we left the Do Not Distrub (DND) card on the door is the reason. This lie set me off big time. I want everyone here to be clear: We are professional travelers for many years. We have policies and procedures for checking into and out of hotels and leaving for the day to insure Safety and Efficiency that we never waiver from. One of those those policies is to prepare to the room for servicing, putting all towels in a pile, beds clear of clothes, secure the door upon departure and make sure that the DND card is placed inside. There has never been a time anywhere where we have left for the day with a DND card still on the outside of the door. We were told that housekeeping leaves at 10pm so no one can make up the room now. So we ordered towels and pillow cases, I threw the pile of dirty towels out into the hallway. We put new pillow cases on the pillows, folded the towels, cleaned the sink area, and restocked the bathroom ourselves. The next day I addressed this personally with the Hotel Manager and Housekeeping Manager. They were aware that our room was not made up the day before and I asked that we receive a phone call that afternoon confirming that the room was serviced. Manager confirmed my phone number, said she will call, but never called us! Now, I have enough experience dealing with people in business that I knew that there was a great chance that they were not going to make up the room again and blame it on the DND Card. Because we knew someone was being dishonest or incompetent and covering it up with blaming the guest. So we took the DND card before we left for the day and hid it high up on a shelf in the room where you can't find it or see it. The Manager never called us to confirm that the room was serviced. She totally blew us off! So at 4 PM that day, we called the Hotel to confirm that the room was serviced. After a long hold to check, we were told that room was not serviced because the DND card (that I hid before we left) was on the door! I went ballistic on the phone like never before. Never in my life have I had someone so blatantly lie to me at a hotel. They don't know someone on staff was dishonest or incompetent? They blame it on the guest! The Housekeeping manager told me that she even went up to check to see where the DND card was and could not find it at all! (Because I hid it that morning--I knew they would blame it on the DND again--it's what they do here.) I later received a call back from someone who said he was the District Manager who told me that the whole thing was a miscommunication and that the room was actually serviced but I was erroneously told it was not serviced? I don't know who to believe at this hotel? But it's a really bad sign in hotel operations for a Manager to tell you they will call you to confirm servicing and blow you off completely. All of this caused us to get to bed later than we wanted, more tired the next day, and even miss part of a family event on Labor Day. read more

My oh my, I was expecting a lot more from a Hyatt hotel but this felt below average. Although I was here for only 2 nights, it was not a very pleasant stay. When I got there, I was greeted with friendliness so that was good and the room itself seemed clean. I also liked that it was located near a lot of the night life (restaurants walkable or a short Uber ride to bars). But when it was time to sleep, it was an uncomfortable experience. Since I came here during the winter, I obviously used the heater. Each time it came on, I thought there was a big announcement to be made so I got woken up every 2 hours. Then on top of that, there was construction happening and the dumpster was being thrown around at 3am. No warning from the front desk at all. This happened for both nights so no good sleep for both those nights. I found out later on that I wasn't the only one that experienced this disaster. Got the chance to stay in this hotel overnight. When I arrived, the front desk staff had just walked away going into a room behind the front desk and hadn't seen me. Comfortable, modern and well located. Our room has everything a person needs and the bed is comfy. Really thoughtful lighting including under bed lighting that goes on briefly when you get up during the night. Louis at the Market Cafe is a treasure! The one problem is that the windows don't have good soundproofing. I stayed in NYC on the 4th floor and couldn't hear any street noise. Here at the Hyatt on the 8th floor, i heard thumping bass for a few hours. A wedding? A bar down the street? Love this hotel!!!! It is clean and airy with positive vibe. The location is great- I had an amazing dinner and breakfast at nearby restaurants. And! The movie theater is connected to the hotel. The service was top notch. I love the crunch gym. Its outdated but better than the small standard hotel gyms. It's an added benefit to have a full gym. My only wish is that the gym had lockers with built in locks vs bringing your own lock. It's all in the details! I absolutely love the mirror with the clock in the mirror. I love the lights in the headboard. And the lights at the bottom of the bed are brilliant. The shower was heavenly. Rain shower with different pressure and also a regular shower head. The bed was dreamy. The only negative was the elevator- loud and shaky and sounded like a rocket taking off. But overall, I wish I could have stayed for a week to decompress. read more

I stayed here for two nights and generally enjoyed the property. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. Parking is $25/night. There are some quirky things about the rooms though. The windows are frosted, so you can't look out the window -- probably because there is no view. The bathroom door opens very close to the toilet, which is odd (1 star off). There are two sets of blinds, one of which is a blackout one, so the room is supposedly great for sleeping in. The walls are paper thin; I can easily hear the early morning alarm next door (1 star off)...which defies the purpose of having blackout blinds to help sleeping in. read more

Stayed 1 night in December 2021 for a staycation. Check-in was a breeze and Reese at the front desk was a gem. We needed a few things and she brought them up to our room within 5 minutes of our request. As a Hyatt Globalist I appreciated that my status was immediately recognized. The corner room "suite" on the 15th floor looked freshly renovated (because it was). Lots of space to hang things and store bags. Comfortable bed and responsive heat/air conditioning. We didn't notice any noise from other guests at night, but in the morning we could hear the family and small children in a neighboring room pretty clearly. The bathroom was in excellent condition and I love a shower with a handheld and overhead heads. The breakfast offering was grab-and-go with a few "hot" (pre-prepared and heated in a toaster oven). Quality wise it was good, but I think the staff needed some extra training because it took a lot longer than expected to get a coffee and a warmed sandwich. Parking is $17 and billed directly to your room. A decent value for Morristown and once you park you won't need to drive anywhere. You can pretty reasonably walk anywhere in downtown Morristown. read more

Hyatt Regency Morristown is a hotel with a growing problem: It needs a major refit/overall/reconstruction because it's starting to age. Hotel's biggest advantage is its prime location, near the Morristown Green. Parking garage is HUGE, but closer parking spots to the hotels entrance can be a challenge. First, be aware this is not the hotel to be noisy in. At least one major airline uses this as a primary hotel for pilots and stewardess, who you will often find in the lobby checking in. Second, security at this hotel is heavier than expected, with additional security patrolling from the surrounding complex for various reasons. This can be a problem for events and conferences, because this security can be overzealous. One out of the three elevators were broken and showed no signs of being repaired during our visit. We had a Studio Suit that was smaller than you'd expect, three people could comfortably fit, but no more. Room showed various signs of wear and tear. There were stains on both sides of the pull out couches sofa seats. Bathroom, while having a great shower had stains and rust, but also seemed to build up moisture. Only one side of the bed had plugs to charge devices. The room's blinds do almost nothing to keep out light. By the end of our stay, the door was not always closing and locking. The biggest issue is the walls and doors are paper thin, to the point you can walk past doors and hear moderately loud conversations. The beds were comfortable though, and the rooms do come with a mini-fridge. Convention space is adequate for a small to small/mid-size convention. Space is split between the hotel and the complex. I've never been to an event that used the upstairs ballrooms or meeting rooms, so I can't speak to those, but they do seem hard to rent. Space includes several larger rooms and smaller breakout rooms on the lower floor and in the complex. Several issues exist, with the room across from hotel registration having visible water damage. Bathrooms were also not the most pleasant smelling this visit, with another set having supply issues. Finally, businesses in the complex have issues with pictures being taken in those areas. Food service in the lobby also isn't the fastest, and seems under-prepared and understaffed, but the food is good when it finally arrives. Do your research in the area because Morristown has many excellent restaurants just a few blocks away. Overall, this hotel is about location, location, location. It's the right location when visiting Morristown, but it's out of date and in need of attention. read more

Stayed here for an event this past weekend and except for one thing the place was outstanding. Perfecting located within walking distance to restaurants, shops, the square you name it with ample underground parking was a great start. Place is COMPLETELY redone except for the elevators that have some mileage on them and lobby is nice and modern. Check in easy with friendly staff. Room is ultra modern upgraded with every new amenity, great mattress & linens super clean. Only downside is the vanity in bathroom who thinks of these things? With a modern light up mirror spacious shower, toiletries provided why on earth would they make as sink and vanity area with ZERO space for anything. THERE IS NO SPACE for even a toothbrush on this vanity and no shelves in bathroom, nothing. What do you do walk in and out to the main room? SMH. I don't get it but with that aside the modern look and cleanliness of the room would make me stay here without hesitation. read more

I don't understand what their hiring process is but he was very outrageous . A little disappointing. Not really 3 stars. The convenience shop shuts at 10 and there are no stores open nearby. The air conditioning system was broken and that's really a black mark. Parking extremely confusing and they charge $10 a night if you're staying. Other problems were the in-room coffee and coffee maker which made the coffee taste like fish!!, And if you want to watch a film on the in-house system, it's 20 ******* dollars....for one shitty film. And the selection sucks ! And shouldn't the parking be free if you're a paying guest? If you just want to eat or have a drink, the parking is free. That's back-arsewards where I come from. The hotel is great. Nice rooms, great service and its in the heart of Morristown. If you don't want to partake in hotel food and drink, there are numerous options within a block. I have to tell you... people from New Jersey and New York get a bad rap... I love them, they're friendly and helpful. More importantly, I ate at the bar... left and my check looked normal... Well, the sweet tooth called and I went back down to the Hyatt bar... the two servers said, we think we over charged you by accident so chose any drinks and food from the cooler... I ended up on the better side of the deal. They didn't have to do that, but they have great employees here. Thank You for your service and honesty.... it didn't go unnoticed. read more

Let's start with the good stuff. -The concierge was very nice and very helpful. She switched out my friends room for another one without any hassle. -The room was big and there is a mini fridge. -The surrounding area is cute with some shops, bars and restaurants nearby. The train station into other towns and into The New York City is only a 11 min walk or 5min Uber from the hotel. -They remembered to give us a wake up call in the morning. Now for the not so good stuff... -NASTY bathroom. You can see in the pics I posted that there were three hairs on the toilet seat before i even got to use it, and more hair in the shower! GROSS. I rinsed and wiped them away but I couldn't rinse the icky feeling away. -The mini fridge temp is WAY TOO COLD and there's no way to manually control it. It froze my food solid:( -The headboard on the bed was extremely worn and used looking, not a good look. -No 24 hour gym. Hours are 6am-9pm Also, this did not happen during our stay this time, but my friend warned me that the room door keys has a tendency to fail or not work at all. Families - do not pack your child(ren's) bathing suit because l, even though the direct hotel website advertises itself as "kid friendly" and "indoor pool", children under the age of 16 are not allowed in the pool (!?!). Specifically the reason I chose this hotel. So rather, families - do not reserve in this hotel. Also, be aware that there is no free parking available. Parking is either valet or unmonitored parking garage. Each time you enter/exit, you must bring ticket to front desk, wait in line, and have each ticket validated. Valet is $23 and garage is $16. $50 incidental fee is also charged, upfront. Rooms are not quiet. We travel to this area regularly, and strongly recommend Hilton in Parsippany-free parking, awesome staff, select your own room online, no incidental charge, and kids can actually swim. Once you get a taste of the good life it's hard to go back. This place fucking rocks! The staff, Doug, Dominique, Bruce, Colleen all have blown me away with their level of service, authentic friendliness and chill but "anything you need" vibes. The hotel itself is what I would call classy AF. It's nice, it's comfy, it has everything. The gym is incredible. The cocktails divine. The food superb. I honestly don't ever want to leave. I really want to give this hotel more stars because their front desk team is outstanding and service-oriented, but this Hyatt Regency simply does not live up to the expectations one might have of the Hyatt chain. I have stayed here a couple of times recently because they're close to my company's U.S. office and I will likely continue to stay here on occasion for that reason and because of their proximity to lots of restaurant options. But there are some areas where they have lots of room to make major improvements. First, their rooms, while reasonably big, are not well-maintained. The furniture is in terrible shape and the mattresses are so worn out that after a few nights there, I have a fair amount of discomfort in my back and neck. The cleanliness of the rooms seems highly variable. During my last stay, I arrived back at my room after working all day to find that the housekeeping staff had left the door to my room open. I feel very fortunate to report that none of my belongings were stolen. All of the rooms have refrigerators in them and I usually appreciate that in a hotel room, but during one stay, the refrigerator was loud enough to keep me awake at night. Room service here is just silly. At a hotel chain like Hyatt, you wouldn't expect that room service would be delivered in a disposable plastic container in a paper bag with plastic forks, but it is. read more

My husband & I used this hotel for our wedding block. We're so glad we chose this hotel. Morristown has a special place in our hearts, so we had to go with a hotel within Morristown. The inside of the hotel is even more impressive than the outside, which really wow'ed some of our guests/family. It is very clean & the staff is friendly. We booked a suite for our wedding night, it was roomy & fantastic, and again very clean. I also booked a bridal suite the day of my wedding, it is a conference room that they convert via movement of some furniture & added decor, but that worked just fine for me & I was happy. The hotel is as average as they come. There were a few sections closed off so I guess they are doing construction here. We came for a meeting and you needed to walk outside to go eat. They finally opened up a main dining hall in the hotel so it all worked out. You also need to walk to Crunch gym next door in order to go to the gym. I liked the fact that it was a full gym but you don't have the intimacy of a small gym. The staff were very kind and made the stay pleasant. First of all, their front desk sucks. Not friendly and never super helpful. Second, they tell you there's a business shuttle in the morning but they only take 1 hotel guest at every 30 minutes interval. So just consider it unavailable unless you call them way ahead of your check-in to schedule yourself. Every other hotel business shuttle I've been on was very accommodating and efficient. Third, their rooms are dated. They can charge those room rates because of their location and the lack of competition. This is our go to Hotel in Morristown. The location does not get any better than this. Walking distance to most of everything downtown has to offer. It is an older hotel and a bit dated but clean. The lobby is nice with a bar and a Starbucks stand. I gave it 4 stars because of the friendly staff who always try to make your stay here pleasant. Thank you Ivan for an easy check in process. Had a week long meeting in NJ and liked this hotel. One complaint - if you're looking for a good breakfast, you might want to give up hope - keep dreaming. You order from a Starbucks stand in the lobby and wait for them to bring a to go bag with utensils. There's not much close by - so hotel could do the guests a favor and have a buffet or kitchen for breakfast. Room was nice with newer updates. We had our sons wedding this past week and we had our guests stay at the Hyatt Regency in Morristown NJ. Their Team was fantastic. Beginning with Amanda and Olivia in events, Camille in reservations, Ashley in accounting and Karen at the front desk, they went above and beyond to make our guests feel at home. We chose the Hyatt by chance after getting a sense that many of the other hotels in the area didn't seem to get the part about meeting the customers where they are. Terrible. Terrible hotel, awful amenities, unacceptable service. How does this even qualify as a Hyatt? For starters, each bed feels like I'm sleeping on three springs total, and if I jumped on it, I would probably launch straight through the ceiling. The WiFi is excruciatingly slow, even the premium version, which makes doing work impossible. The room is The front desk staff are polite, and the location is alright, around 3 blocks away from the Morristown downtown, but the benefits just about ends there. The rooms are scarcely furnished to say the least, even with an iHome alarm/dock system which only supports iPhone 4's and earlier. Even the desk chair sloped downwards; have you ever sat in a chair that seemed to want you to slide off? I hadn't... until I came to this hotel. The business center is quite inconvenient, charging you $5 just to use the computer for 15 minutes. I needed to print a few last-minute documents, was willing to pay the 50 cents per page plus the $5 initial charge, and the printer didn't even work. Eventually the front desk staff just printed my 3 pages for me, but still, $5 and 30 minutes of my life just to print 3 pages? The hotel seems to be a common event venue, making the lobby a bit crowded and oddly full of security at every hour. Understandable, considering the mammoth multi-story parking garage situated next to the hotel, charging just a light $26 per night... so much for free parking in the middle of New Jersey, huh? I loved this hotel. Is it a 5-star hotel? No, more like 4. But the experience was 5 stars, with the exception of only one woman I encountered briefly. The other staff was fantastic and friendly, and I loved that I got a daily email from the GM asking about my experiencing. As a guest/participant at a 300--400 person Indian wedding, everything appeared to go seamlessly, which is impressive. My room was spacious and comfortable, and the had the best amenity ever: makeup mirrors! We all know how bad hotel lighting is, so I could not have been more appreciative. The LAZ Parking garage underneath the Hyatt was a complete rip off. When we tried to exit, we inserted our ticket into the automated machine at the gate. It retained the ticket and would not open the gate because it would not allow us to pay with cash or credit card because apparently the credit card slot was broken. There were no signs or warnings about that anywhere. Do, then we pressed the button to get help repeatedly and no one responded. Then we downloaded the LAZ parking app and paid with credit card on the app but the machine still would not let us go. Finally after driving around we found another exit and were able to leave after paying again with our credit card. we paid twice and wasted a half hour of our life trying to get out of that hell hole. read more

Somebody sound the Quality Control alarm because this Hyatt is in serious danger! I've stayed at various Hyatt's throughout the world and this by far is the worst, does not reach the Hyatt standard I am accustomed to. The staff is good and accommodating but the physical building, furniture, and materials used here are extremely dated. The price of this place is strictly for the location, location, location. You're better off going to a cute boutique hotel. Hotel parking is also an additional cost here. One day went to the bar and the bartender clearly saw us but was too busy to help us until we walked to the front help desk. Fridge in room as nice but not enough to make up for all the other negatives here. Breakfast buffet was just ok but way overpriced for the food quality, this isn't Vegas! read more

There are no words to describe how wonderful the staff at the Hyatt in Morristown truly are, but I'm going to try my best. My friend's wedding, which took a year to plan, was scheduled for the weekend of Hurricane Irene. The reception was originally planned to be hosted on a yacht that would sail around Manhattan. With family and friends en route for the Saturday wedding, the unthinkable happened on Thursday at 4pm when the use of the yacht was officially cancelled. A true nightmare for any bride, we kicked it into high gear and tried to maintain faith that a plan b could be accomplished. Here's where the lovely staff of the Hyatt came to save the day. After making several calls to different venues, I was able to get in touch with the Hyatt who not only said they could pull off a wedding reception for 100 people in 48 hours, but went above and beyond to be accommodating, From closing down the hotel restaurant to host the cocktail hour to pulling together a full menu, to fielding a slew of frantic phone calls, to having enough rooms at extremely reasonable rates for guests, the Hyatt was amazing ... and you never would have known that the reception was put together in 48 hours rather than 12 months. Additionally, the hotel rooms were new and modern and clean. The bride and groom were given a suite that was very pleasant and served for an after party for 20+ guests. One thing to note is that the hotel did lose power during the hurricane, and guests woke up to no electricity or running water in hotel rooms. The hotel was prepared and took extra precautions the night before should anything bad happen. Public restrooms in the lobby were in full working order, and everyone was well taken care of. read more
