Having read all of the bad reviews for this place, I was very wary with booking a reservation at this hotel back in late January. However, I just needed a place for one night. This location was very convenient and the rate was the most affordable in the area. It's located on Encinitas Blvd just off of the 5 freeway. There's a vacant restaurant building just right in front of it. At the time, the lobby was closed due to COVID safety protocols. The check-in process was done via the after-hours window. After taking care of the paperwork, I was given a room on the 3rd floor. The room was pretty clean and everything appeared to be in working order. However, in the bathroom, there were some crack floor tiles and the water for the tub/shower couldn't be shutoff all the way. Maybe I lucked out with an okay room. There are plenty of food options all within walking distance.

So here's the tl:dr; NOBODY should have to live, even temporarily, in such terrible conditions. And most definitely not when paying for the privilege to stay there. I understand that sometimes, financially, we all do what we need to. Hence my own reason for staying at the Days Inn in Encinitas. Except the conditions there are so deplorable, so squalid, instead of the two weeks I had reserved, I ended up staying just one night. And stayed that night because I had to find a different place to reserve a room and set that up for the next day. Wow. Everything about this Days Inn was questionable, at best. Concrete floors leading to rooms on 2nd floor were all wet from the air conditioner runoff from every room. Dresser held together by duct tape. See photo of that one. Room walls do nothing to insulate from noise in other rooms. Security latch on door in room I was in - room 215, was free-floating and looked like it could have easily been forced open. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. Bathtub had a continual leak from the faucet. Bathtub stained. The lobby was closed - no entry. To register, or check out, or anything to communicate with front desk staff, I had to stand outside, and communicate with the person on duty through a glass window with a small opening at the bottom for passing paperwork back and forth. Imagine if it's a torrential downpour of rain and you've got to do that? Sure, there's a small overhang. Wouldn't stop rain in wind though. No elevator to 2nd or 3rd floor. Do I go on? Nah. Not worth my time to at this point.

Didn't even want to give this place a 1 star. My job got me a room here on 12/03/22 and I had only 6 hours to sleep before I had to be back on the road at 1:30 am. I woke up in a lot of pain within a few hours of being here. Got out of bed turned the light on and all I see is blood on my bed and welts all over my arms, ankles, breast. I saw bedbugs crawling on my pillows and my sheets. Called the office and was placed in another room. Had to throw my clothes away jump I'm the shower right away.

    Cockroaches

This hotel was horrible. I went there with my sister for my Bachelorette trip. We checked in and as soon as we opened the front door, a cockroach came in the door so I killed it. No big deal. But then the toilet stopped working so we called the front desk and he got to the room super quick. However, he didn't speak any English. Luckily my sister in law who's fluent in Spanish was able to translate for us. The toilet was fixed until later that night when we were going to bed. It kept making this noise like the water was running every 5 minutes so finally my sister turned off the water to the tank. Next day we're getting ready to go out and I notice another cockroach but this time it's dead. We go around the room and find 3 cockroaches all dead in the room and 1 pincher-bug. We let the front desk know because it was disgusting. They said they would send someone up to clean it, although it never happened. Finally later that night, at 5 am when we're sleeping the smoke alarm goes off really loud waking us up and scaring us. It kept repeating every 30 seconds that the smoke alarm was low on batteries. I call the front desk 3 times. No answer. Finally my sister gets on the desk (I'm 5'1 so I'm useless there) and she gets the batteries out of the smoke alarm. No luck. It keeps on going off. I call the front desk again, and finally someone answers. They inform us they can't do anything to help us as they are the only one at the front desk and if there was someone in the room who could help try to detach it. Finally after 5 minutes, my sister was able to detach it from the ceiling. We're both exhausted and annoyed about this problem and the cockroach problem. After an hour has passed we finally are able to go back to bed. A couple hours later, we check out of the hotel and we talk to the manager Gabrielle and he informs us he's unable to do anything discount wise as we booked through Priceline. We're both frustrated because of these issues we had during the whole trip so we call Priceline. The Priceline agent apologizes to us and asks us to please hold while she talks to the manager. She comes back on the line and explains that the manager Gabrielle offered us $50 back which just pisses us off because he never once offered us anything as we booked through a "third party" and he was unable to do anything. Priceline couldn't do much other than give us $50 back. Very disappointing & frustrating. Never again.

Completely eaten alive by fleas. I stayed just one night and I had so many bites on my body in the morning that I had to go to urgent care. My wife Called the hotel and they didnt really seem to care. We tried saying that they need to fumigate that room but the manager said no one is complaining. well we were and I have photos of the bites. on my hand it was so bad that my finger got a massive blood blister. All I can say is yes it's very inexpensive for the area but those bug bites were no joke.

I'm extremely disappointed for my stay here on May 27 , graffiti on the table, pubic hair, still in the shower . I have stayed at this establish numerous times never any issues. Then ice marker was out of ice the front desk told me they can't fill the water until after 8:30 I needed the ice now before leaving for games.

Parking: Valet only $60 overnight Concierge and receptionist table is very simple and 1 person helping only, she is Super duper sweet and helpful. She checked us in, and since we booked via Amex, we received complimentary: - Suite upgrades - early check in - guarantee 4pm check out - daily breakfast for 2 - In room wifi - and $150 resort credit apply for restaurant, spa etc. This place has a e-bike, paddle board an surf board for guests to use anytime complimentary. If you happened to stay in 2nd floor, which they only have 3 floors, where Vaga restaurant is, to find your room is kinda tricky. Look at the signage and the room are through the double door, on your left when you face the restaurant. It requires your keycard access to enter through the double door. The room is so relaxing, the vibe is comforting. It has complimentary coffee, nespresso tea and bottle water. You can ask for more water at concierge. Look at the real life I believe eucalyptus stem on top of the shower head, love it. There's also a gym and spa in 1st floor, also access to beach. We asked for recommended restaurant around the area, she gave a 4 pages list of restaurant and little shops 2nd floor - has venue area with spacious gathering area and balcony overlooking the beach. Evening: you can enjoy cocktails on VAGA restaurant overlooking the beach with outdoor fireplace and patio. Fyi: the room has thin walls. We can hear ppl talking, walking, running on hall way every moment. So on our final bill: They comp all our daily breakfast including tips and room service delivery. They automatically deduct $150 resort credit regardless you spend under. It will apply to any other fees. Like it because they don't Knicks pick every single expenses, that shows their reputation and their hotel guests matter over little charges. Overall, love this place. Will definitely come back. Highly recommended.

While we loved the resort room we were assigned, the water and the sunset, and the VAGA restaurant, we had some challenges with checking in that impacted our stay and made us question whether it was worth our visit. As a Hyatt Globalist, I took advantage of a Suite Upgrade Award in advance to get upgraded to a one-bedroom suite with a nice balcony. Also, as we were needing to depart first thing in the morning, we only had the day of arrival to enjoy the resort, so we also requested an early check-in, which we were told would likely be able to be offered (when we called 24 hours in advance). We requested a noon check-in as we made the reservation using American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, which offered this as a benefit based on availability. Not only were we not offered an early check-in of noon, the room was not available until 4 PM. As such, we ended up being unable to use the resort amenities as we had dinner reservations and then after watching the sunset, had a low-key evening after it was dark out. When we finally got keys to our room, which was a long walk from the front desk, our keys were not even programmed correctly. We were glad that some staff found us in front of our room unsuccessfully trying to get in. They went to the front desk for us to exchange our room keys with ones that worked. The suite itself was wonderful with a nice living room and a spacious bathroom and bedroom. It had a lovely balcony that we watched the sunset on. It was also near the pool and easy viewing of the water and area. Also, we received four chocolate truffles as guests within the American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts program. While we were also celebrating a birthday, Alila Marea Beach Resort doesn't provide additional amenities for the occasion; however, they acknowledged the birthday at check-in, and during our dinner reservation at VAGA Restaurant, they did provide a birthday dessert. We absolutely loved the VAGA Restaurant and the manager and staff there along with the delicious food and drinks. I wrote a separate 5-star review for the VAGA Restaurant on Yelp. We booked a Fine Hotels + Resorts offer that included early (noon) check-in when available and late (4 PM) checkout guaranteed, room upgrade when available, daily breakfast, $150 credit which we used for a nice dinner, and welcome amenity. We were unable to receive an upgrade the day of our arrival nor an early check-in, and we were unable to take advantage of the late check-out. Thanks to my Hyatt Globalist benefits, complimentary breakfast and other benefits like complimentary dishes at VAGA for dinner and breakfast, the breakfast from Fine Hotel & Resorts was not needed. The Globalist access also waived the $55 daily resort fee, which included 2 welcome beverages, 2 water bottles, access to the fitness center, beach access with chairs, umbrella, and towels, a weekly sound bath experience (not while we were there), and local transportation within 3 miles of property. Again, if we only could have enjoyed some of the resort's amenities, this would have included so many ways to spend our time. All in all, this seemed like a wonderful resort, though my wife and I were unable to experience that. I would strongly advise anyone planning to go to Alila Maria Beach Resort for only one night to find another hotel to stay at. On the other hand, if you plan a full weekend or several days, it sounds like this resort could offer a lot. We simply didn't feel it was a place for a "special occasion" or that we were valued as customers, even as Hyatt Globalists and AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts customers.

After breakfast we took a stroll (5 min) to Moonlight Beach and downtown Encinitas. The next day was exactly the same. There are some very extremely minor things we noticed. Parking is tricky. But doable. There were mosquitoes in our room/outdoor deck, but they supply a natural bug spray to help with those critters. There were a lot of spider webs outside on the deck and upper corners and around the lights. Again, we get it. We're in nature. There's bugs in nature. So what. Their doors were also very loud and startled us a few times during the night. Teeny tiny parking spaces in the private parking garage. I wish the bathroom fan was better. The bathroom mirror was unusable for at least 25 mins after a shower because it stayed too humid. There were supposed to be breakfast pastries and juice in the mornings, but I never saw these things. I asked about it when we checked out, and the person at the desk said we just needed to ask for them in the office each morning. My husband had just finished working six consecutive shifts at the fire department, and we were simply looking forward to a nice evening together. As we entered the parking lot, two men in a golf cart crossed in front of our vehicle. My husband honked, and there was later a brief verbal exchange about what had happened. There were no threats or physical confrontation from us, and we believed the matter was over. Later, while we were still seated at our dinner table, a woman we had never met approached us and began questioning us about the parking-lot interaction. She told us that she and her husband were club members, repeatedly referenced their membership, said she had never seen us there before, and told us she "didn't want any problems in the future." I cannot speak to what she intended, but the encounter made both of us feel intimidated, unwelcome, and extremely uncomfortable. We later learned that an Aviara Country Club member event was being held at the restaurant that evening. After dinner, we discovered that our vehicle had been extensively damaged while parked on the property. Carlsbad Police investigated, and surveillance footage from the property documented what occurred. An individual associated with the earlier parking-lot encounter became the alleged suspect during the investigation. Our vehicle ultimately sustained nearly $15,000 in repair costs. I am intentionally not identifying anyone or making any statement about guilt. I am simply describing what my husband and I experienced that evening. What has disappointed us most is Park Hyatt Aviara's response afterward. I personally contacted hotel management and was told that Hyatt was cooperating with police, which we appreciated. We were also told that someone from Aviara Golf Club management would contact us to discuss what happened. That call never came. I understand that a hotel cannot control the actions of every person on its property, and I am not assigning legal responsibility to Hyatt. My concern is how we were treated as guests after such a serious and disturbing experience. We experienced an uncomfortable confrontation during dinner, left to discover nearly $15,000 in damage to our vehicle, and had to involve law enforcement. Yet we never felt the level of concern, communication, or follow-through we expected from a five-star property. That is what has been most disappointing. We chose Park Hyatt Aviara because we expected exceptional hospitality and guest care consistent with the Park Hyatt name. Instead, we left feeling uncomfortable, unsupported, and profoundly disappointed. I sincerely hope Park Hyatt Aviara considers how guests are cared for when something goes seriously wrong during their visit.

We stayed for a few nights during our home fumigation and after comparing just about every motel/inn around the Encinitas and Carlsbad area, I'm really glad we settled on this one. Pros: it is clean! That's not to be confused with showing its age, because it absolutely could use a facelift, but the cleanliness was there. It's convenient! Right by the freeway and yet close enough to downtown Encinitas to walk to dinner or shopping. Conveniently located right across the street from Lazy Acres, a laundromat, Mexican food, and Mr. Peabody's bar and grill. It has a nice little gym. Was there some dust? Sure but the equipment and weights did the trick, and the small gym had a little patio to stand on during cool downs. NO added cost to park cars! Some hotels were asking for $30-40 per night per vehicle and this place had the cost covered in the standard $15 hotel fee. Park as many cars as you'd like. Come and go as you please. The parking lot felt safe, and as a woman making several trips to my car in the evening I felt just fine. It's nice that you're up on a hill so you do feel more secluded from any possible unsavory surprises. No hidden fees! They are upfront about taxes and there were no surprises. WiFi was just fine, though our stay was not during busy season. Continental breakfast is included! Fried eggs and sausage were very average, but grab some coffee, a pastry, some toast, juice, cereal and you don't have to think twice about breakfast. It was basic but not gross by any means. This is not the place for you if you're expecting 5 star service, but it would be a great spot for families visiting town. Note: turn down service and daily cleaning is not provided but this was not an issue for us staying just a few days. Comfy beds and pillows, towels are nice. Front desk staff was helpful when needed, and every room has a nice balcony view. The walls are thin so if you're by the elevator or ice machine, expect to hear some kids running down the halls, but this place has everything we needed at a very affordable rate. We would absolutely come back for a little staycation in the future.

Epic but the point of this review is if you're coming and want to visit Cardiff or Encinitas or any of the north county beaches this is a great cost-effective hotel to stay at. Free breakfast, which is fantastic and then you're off to the beach and everything that North County has to offer. Just a tip from a local, we loved it

We really enjoyed our stay here!! It's not your "fancy" hotel, but it was nice and roomy inside and…read morethe staff were very friendly!! And I love how they have a coffee station for the guests that are staying here, and coffee doesn't taste bad at all...but WAIT there's more... BREAKFAST is included in your stay, and I enjoyed the choices, it is not those typical Continental Breakfast where all you get is croissants and toast. There's eggs, waffles, oatmeal, bananas, oranges, muffins, pork and chicken sausages, egg white frittatas. All the kitchen staff there were also friendly and helpful (they were helping people on how to use the waffle iron...), it's so wonderful to have this type of greetings from them in the mornings too. There is a pool, by the front hotel, but I didn't get a chance to see it. It is outdoor parking, no garage parking. I'm totally satisfied with this place!! Will definitely come back here, if I plan a visit in the Del Mar/Encinitas area!
