Sad to see the bad reviews on this hotel. I have never had an issue here and its a great value stay. I have stayed here time and time again for years now. Most recently I stayed a week ago and my experience has always been great. This hotel has always been no frills, low cost hotel for people like myself that travel places to go out and explore. If you are more of the type that enjoys the extra amenities this may not be you top choice but for me its perfect. Super close to the Encinitas train station (a couple blocks away; walkable) along across the street is a variety of stores, a supermarket, places to eat, and a gas station. It is only a few blocks away from downtown Encinitas where there is a huge abundance of restaurants, bars, coffee, and mom and pop shops. Also very close to the ocean. My customer service has always been great. I always call in ahead to verify my reservation and at times have arrive before check in and they are happy to set me up in a room early if there is one available. Most recently they have upgraded the rooms and done a whole face lift on all of them. A very nice touch. New beds, new paint, new TVs, new showers, new barn bathroom doors and hard wood floors Even before the face lift the room have always been clean, no bugs, and a very basic place to stay with no issues. They have a community pool that I have never checked out personally but it is there is you are interested. This location deserves more credit than it get here on yelp. The entire property was under renovation, with a makeshift lobby in a former guestroom, a closed swimming pool, and a shuttered cafe next door. We were given no warning, and were very disappointed that the pool--a widely advertised amenity--was unavailable. We had no notice until we arrived on the creepy, half-done property, despite booking directly through the Wyndham website. The staff was friendly but often appeared unprofessional, with some unshaven men and everyone in casual clothes. Our room itself was clean except for a marijuana cigarette in its purchase container that we discovered between a mattress and the headboard. The makeshift lobby was difficult to find. We had no housekeeping service for the three days we stayed. Breakfast was a store-bought muffin and coffee (but we knew that in advance so it's o.k., but we planned to have a real breakfast in the cafe on the property that was listed as an amenity on the Wyndham website but it was permanently closed without warning). I will not trust the Days Inn brand or the Wyndham brand again. read more

Horrible. TV didn't work, no outlet to accept phone charger like it's still 1980. The worst was the filthy carpet. I walked on it in my bare feet, it felt damp and sticky. We stayed for one night while on a visit to San Diego. The hotel and the rooms are basic, bare-bones... but clean and functional. The AC worked good, the shower supplied shampoo and body wash, and the room holds a coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator. There used to be a Dennys in the parking lot, but now it's empty. The rooms and hotel overall could use some TLC and upkeep, but overall doing the best with what they have. The staff was courteous and friendly, and the location is convenient to both the beach and the freeway. read more

Rooms are nice and clean. Basic essentials like soap and shampoo are provided in rooms. The grab and go breakfast gives you a danish, small orange juice, and granola bar; no coffee or tea for grab and go breakfast. There is a coffee pot and mini fridge in the rooms. The parking lot seems shady. We were here after it rained and there was a mudslide closing part of the parking lot down. Check in and out was quick and easy. The lady checking me in did not give me any info or really talk much but I knew all info from reading my booking confirmation email. It's an average motel kinda stay. read more

Having read all of the bad reviews for this place, I was very wary with booking a reservation at this hotel back in late January. However, I just needed a place for one night. This location was very convenient and the rate was the most affordable in the area. It's located on Encinitas Blvd just off of the 5 freeway. There's a vacant restaurant building just right in front of it. At the time, the lobby was closed due to COVID safety protocols. The check-in process was done via the after-hours window. After taking care of the paperwork, I was given a room on the 3rd floor. The room was pretty clean and everything appeared to be in working order. However, in the bathroom, there were some crack floor tiles and the water for the tub/shower couldn't be shutoff all the way. Maybe I lucked out with an okay room. So here's the tl:dr; NOBODY should have to live, even temporarily, in such terrible conditions. And most definitely not when paying for the privilege to stay there. I understand that sometimes, financially, we all do what we need to. Hence my own reason for staying at the Days Inn in Encinitas. Except the conditions there are so deplorable, so squalid, instead of the two weeks I had reserved, I ended up staying just one night. And stayed that night because I had to find a different place to reserve a room and set that up for the next day. Wow. Everything about this Days Inn was questionable, at best. Concrete floors leading to rooms on 2nd floor were all wet from the air conditioner runoff from every room. Dresser held together by duct tape. See photo of that one. Room walls do nothing to insulate from noise in other rooms. Security latch on door in room I was in - room 215, was free-floating and looked like it could have easily been forced open. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. Bathtub had a continual leak from the faucet. Bathtub stained. The lobby was closed - no entry. To register, or check out, or anything to communicate with front desk staff, I had to stand outside, and communicate with the person on duty through a glass window with a small opening at the bottom for passing paperwork back and forth. Imagine if it's a torrential downpour of rain and you've got to do that? Sure, there's a small overhang. Wouldn't stop rain in wind though. No elevator to 2nd or 3rd floor. Do I go on? Nah. Didn't even want to give this place a 1 star. My job got me a room here on 12/03/22 and I had only 6 hours to sleep before I had to be back on the road at 1:30 am. I woke up in a lot of pain within a few hours of being here. Got out of bed turned the light on and all I see is blood on my bed and welts all over my arms, ankles, breast. I saw bedbugs crawling on my pillows and my sheets. Called the office and was placed in another room. Had to throw my clothes away jump I'm the shower right away. read more

This hotel was horrible. I went there with my sister for my Bachelorette trip. We checked in and as soon as we opened the front door, a cockroach came in the door so I killed it. No big deal. But then the toilet stopped working so we called the front desk and he got to the room super quick. However, he didn't speak any English. Luckily my sister in law who's fluent in Spanish was able to translate for us. The toilet was fixed until later that night when we were going to bed. It kept making this noise like the water was running every 5 minutes so finally my sister turned off the water to the tank. Next day we're getting ready to go out and I notice another cockroach but this time it's dead. We go around the room and find 3 cockroaches all dead in the room and 1 pincher-bug. We let the front desk know because it was disgusting. They said they would send someone up to clean it, although it never happened. Finally later that night, at 5 am when we're sleeping the smoke alarm goes off really loud waking us up and scaring us. It kept repeating every 30 seconds that the smoke alarm was low on batteries. I call the front desk 3 times. No answer. Finally my sister gets on the desk (I'm 5'1 so I'm useless there) and she gets the batteries out of the smoke alarm. No luck. It keeps on going off. I call the front desk again, and finally someone answers. They inform us they can't do anything to help us as they are the only one at the front desk and if there was someone in the room who could help try to detach it. Finally after 5 minutes, my sister was able to detach it from the ceiling. We're both exhausted and annoyed about this problem and the cockroach problem. After an hour has passed we finally are able to go back to bed. A couple hours later, we check out of the hotel and we talk to the manager Gabrielle and he informs us he's unable to do anything discount wise as we booked through Priceline. We're both frustrated because of these issues we had during the whole trip so we call Priceline. The Priceline agent apologizes to us and asks us to please hold while she talks to the manager. She comes back on the line and explains that the manager Gabrielle offered us $50 back which just pisses us off because he never once offered us anything as we booked through a "third party" and he was unable to do anything. Priceline couldn't do much other than give us $50 back. Very disappointing & frustrating. Never again. read more

I stayed here a few days and what came to mind as a description of the place: Cheap and Depressing. It's no longer maintained. Just the bare minimum. It's falling apart. Paint pealing. Air conditioners are super loud and make weird noises. The room with a single bed, I think it was a double, not a queen, was really small and claustrophobic. It's really noisy since it's right by HWY 5. Everything's old. The bare necessities cleaned, but things like the door, etc., are sticky from dirt. The stairs are filthy. No dresser or anything else where you can put your clothes. Coffee is available any time and it's decent. Breakfast is a Jimmy Dean croissant with egg and sausage you reheat in the microwave. It comes with a chocolate oat bar and apple juice. It's really an outdated dirty place that's falling apart where only the bare essentials are maintained. I don't know what one does with a place like this that used to cost a fortune to stay, but now falling apart. But the location can't be beat! It's 10 minute walk to the beach. Less than that to Emerald Day Spa, where I had a wonderful massage with wonderful people. Same, about 10 minute walk to the library where you can get a computer as a guest and do research if you need to. Then you drop down to the main drag and there is everything, restaurants, a huge New Age store, a used bookstore that I absolutely adore and that's been there forever, movie theater, bar, etc. Best of all is Gelato 101. This is THE BEST ice cream/gelato I've had in my life. All this is a 10 minute walk from Day's Inn! Also, just across the street from Day's inn is Lazy Acres, this giant grocery store where they have ready-made food, as they do at Whole Foods, huge selection you buy by weight. And everything else, including delicious coffee. They open at 6 AM. Just east of HWY 5 is Valero gas station; they tend to have the cheapest gas all the time. They also have air and water for the car and friendly people working there. I feel really sad the place if falling apart. It's at such a great location. If it wasn't falling apart, though, instead of costing $74 a night, it would probably cost $300. Bittersweet, I guess. read more

Completely eaten alive by fleas. I stayed just one night and I had so many bites on my body in the morning that I had to go to urgent care. My wife Called the hotel and they didnt really seem to care. We tried saying that they need to fumigate that room but the manager said no one is complaining. well we were and I have photos of the bites. on my hand it was so bad that my finger got a massive blood blister. I had a nice experience here, the manager helped us with a Priceline nightmare. Firsr and last time i use priceline. The rooms are priced right for the area, a block from moonlight beach. There are basic amenities, but if you prefer gourmet coffee there is a Lazy Market across the street. Lazy market has coffee, juice bar and hot cold buffet. They even have soups you can take back to room and reheat. It's like a mini Whole Foods. Mr. Peabodys is a little sports bar also across the street. We used the laundry mat to wash our beach towels and blankets. Mr Peabodys has great chili and prices are perfect. There is also an EV charger in front of lazy market. Days inn does package a little brown bag breakfast in lobby. Beds clean and comfortable, Bonus is the standard 12pm check out! read more

Liked · Location is great. Staff accommodated a move to a different room after identifying a damp spot on floor by refridgerator and the overwhelming smell of mold. They moved me to a different room without hassel. Disliked · There's a mold issue in this building. The first room I was assigned had a large damp spot on the floor by the refridgerator and upon opening the dresser next to the refridgerator, the smell got stronger. I believe the dresser/refridgerator in the unit need to be replaced. I slept in the room the first night as I arrived late and was tired. I asked for a new room in t he morning and that request was honored graciously; however the musty/mold smell was still apparent to me in the new room. Also, all the buttons on the microwave did not work. My belongings still smell damp/musty/moldy days after leaving. Having been previously exposed to toxic mold in the past, I am very sensitive to it and spent very little time in the room. I think this property needs to be evaluated for black mold and would not recommend this property to anyone. read more

Very disappointed by their managers' poor response to my complain on the day I stayed there. The shower did not drain and I had to take a shower in 5" of filthy water. I brought this to the front desk's attention and asked for some compensation. The woman at the front desk told me to email the manager and gave me the email address. I emailed him immediately. Since then, it was completely ignored. A week later when I called, and talked to the front desk manager, Gabriel, he told me 1) I did not email to the manager's email address so the manager knew nothing about the incident, 2) I would need to contact 3rd party I made my reservation from for complain, 3) they would respond only if the 3rd party contacted them on the incident. Would NOT cancel due to Covid hospitalization!! Booked this hotel for a family member who had to move out of his rental since the owners sold it. It was for 5 days before he could get another place. He came down with Covid and has a positive test from ER visit. He continued to pack and clean in order to move out. All that wore him out and the day he was to check in to THIS hotel he was hospitalized due to pneumonia (brought on from Covid). I called the hotel and they claimed they could do nothing since it was booked through Priceline. They asked if I wanted to cancel with them even though I'd still have to cancel with Priceline and I said no. By the time I spent chatting online with Priceline before they finally let me call them, the hotel had already canceled the reservation even though I had said not to. They then told Priceline it was already canceled and they had to charge a day. I explained to Priceline that I thought they were trying to encourage people to travel and allow cancellations due to covid. Priceline called the hotel back and they were adamant that they had to charge and even said I called and just said he couldn't make it. They totally lied. He has a positive Covid test from about 5 days ago and is definitely admitted to the hospital!! I don't know what more proof I could offer. I would NOT recommend booking a hotel that has such little compassion and care for human life! read more

The worst hotel experience I have ever had. I would give 0 stars. Our room was not clean, holes in the walls, bed was so uncomfortable, toilet did not flush well. We spent 1 out of 3 days paid for. Checked in Friday and on Saturday after we came back our room wasn't cleaned. We went to the front desk to nicely asked if we could get a room cleaned and clean towels. Lynch said we must be staying there for three nights In order to get the room cleaned. We did pay for 3 nights. She then stated, "then we need to put in a request to have it cleaned and we need to go grab our dirty towels bring them down and place them in the laundry bin". We were fine to do that but I had explained that I have never been to a hotel that makes you put in a request and also doesn't bring the towels up to the room for us. She wouldn't let me speak and slammed the door in my face. So I dropped the dirty towels outside as I had no where to put them bc she closed the door on us. She then immediately said our reservation were canceled and turned our room keys off before we could even make it up the stairs to grab our things. She left the front desk to a friend who did not work there and we had to find Lynch to demand for our own personal belongings. We demanded a full refund and a receipt of proof. She refused the receipt and hid in the back office while there was a line of people waiting a check in window. Absolutely insane experience. Never will stay at Days Inn again. read more

Where do I even star? From broke AC to dirty towels, to dirty stained carpet this place is a total mess and should be avoided. Wyndham should be embarrassed to be associated with this place. They are sold out most night yet are to greedy to close 5 rooms at a time and do some remodeling. Thats when you know the owner does not care about guests and just cares about money. Why is this place so expensive for the low quality of the room? First of all, right when we walked into our room, we can smell moisture from the drippy shower faucet. The room is super small to have two queen bed. The second bed was so close to the bathroom door, you can hear and smell if someone is using it. The carpet is super dirty, I can't even begin to explain but I will. If you wear just socks around, especially white socks, expect it to be super dirty due to the carpet lack of cleaning. Everything looks super out dated. If you are in the bottom floors, expect to hear all the rumbling upstairs throughout your stay. Bad experience and will not come back. The staff was friendly, but the hotel was dirty and gross. There were no less than 12 roaches in our room. Everytime we turned the light on we found several more. It smelled like pee near the staircase and they don't clean the rooms unless you put in a request. I do not recommend it! read more

I booked a stay in room 207, May 11-12 2022 and I woke up to find an adult bug crawling on my face, I turned on the light and I see about 3 small ones on my pillow my head was resting on. The bed sheet itself had another 3 but smaller ones. I peaked at the seams of the bed and I find about 2 adults and 6 total juvenile ones that are quite small toward the head board. I was covered in bites from my face to my arms, back and one on my thigh. It was a little after midnight on the 12th. I reported it to the front desk attendant and she refunded my two night stay and was very polite and accommodating. However, this is an unacceptable experience. I checked out of the Days Inn roughly 40 minutes after reporting it to the front desk attendant, just too creeped out. read more

Booked a three night stay. Day One - towel rack above toilet falls on head in middle of night... no injury, just annoying, so I call to let them know it happened, that they might want to fix it tomorrow etc. They suggest I move rooms in the morning whenever it's convenient for me. Perfect solution, thanks Days Inn. Go to bed. Bed was comfortable... but sleep was bad because of an annoying neighbor smoker opening and closing his door all night and the whiffs of smoke coming thru the crack of the door. Ugh. Disgusting. Day Two - Super sweet front desk girl with a pretty braid in her hair helps me get into a new room. I switch over rooms, turn on the AC, take a shower, come back into the room and it's like 500 degrees... something is wrong with the AC. I ask if I can just switch back to my original room later in the day and they're like yeah, go for it, we want you to be comfortable. Another perfect solution. Day Three - Wake up from a good night's rest, back in my original room with a fixed shelf and working AC, life is effing great. I do my thing all day, dinner with friends, enjoy Encinitas and all that blah blah. Anyways midnight rolls around, right? Time to go back to the hotel. Friend drops me off, I wave goodbye, I try my key. No. Doesn't work. Try like 15 more times, yeah, not happening. So I realize I gotta go down to the lobby. Before I leave I see my annoying smoker neighbor coming back to his room, this time with a very young lady at his side. Go down to the lobby for some help to get into my room. Lobby door is shut, lights are off. Go over to the night window and ring the bell. No answer. Ring it like 20 more times... nothing. Call the front desk a few times. Hear it ringing thru the window, feeling super annoyed, defeated, tired and then a bit vulnerable when a group of dudes came up and were lingering down the walkway. I called Days Inn reservation line and asked for help, the first woman I spoke to said "I'm in another country how am I supposed to help you?" Ummmm call a phone other than the one that WONT get picked up on the other side of this stupid window? Ughhhh! I hung up and called back and hoped to get someone with more compassion. And I got just that. Lacey picked up and when I told her what was up she immediately tried multiple resources to get in contact with someone. She stayed on the line with me when she realized none of those resources were going to be able to help us. She puts me on hold to try something else.... A couple hops out of an Uber and I ask them if they're checking in, and warn them that I've been waiting here to get help for at least 20m. We chat for a min and then Lacey gets back on the line with me. She doesn't have any update and I let her know there's now more people waiting. Then I see the young girl walking towards me, the one I saw a half an hour ago with annoying-neighbor-dude. She says "Checking in?" She's wearing a tie dye sweatshirt, no name tag. I had no clue she worked there... and why is she hanging out in neighbor-dude's room? I keep Lacey on the phone and let her know what's happening, I ask for tie dye's name and she said either "Taia" or "Kaya" and said "you should make a complaint" and literally threw my ID and new room card threw the window at me. Thanks Kaya or whateva, I will. Lacey was rad, stayed on the phone with me til I got back to my room and told me that I was handling things much better than she would have. She told me to lock the doors and stay safe. What a sweetie. Anyways. This place sucks. It's the cheapest place in town for a reason. Everything barely works in this joint, the breakfast sucks, the pool sucks, the coffee sucks, the decor sucks, the annoying neighbors that I think live here suck, pretty much the worst hotel I've ever been to and definitely the longest review I've ever written. Gonna passout and get the F out of here in the morning. PEACE! read more

I invited friends and we stayed here. I was so embarrassed! The room they got had water leaking from the shower and toilet and the dirty carpet was wet. Our room had cockroaches! When looking at other reviews in Yelp the hotel seems not to be concerned as there are many complaints about the roaches and nothing is done to rid the rooms of them. I used to stay here a lot a few years back but I will never return. This hotel puts the Wyndham name to shame. read more

Tear it down and rebuild. It feels so dirty. Smell of horrible disinfectant. Feels dirty. Water coming out of the faucets smells like sulphur. this place is disgusting. read more
