Why I've never thought I'd cry about hair, but I'm so upset right now. I spent a lot of money to get my hair colored, for the first time, and came in for a trim. Dazzle looked inexpensive so I came in for a TRIM to get the ends of my hair off. I pointed and showed Mishaela where I wanted my hair cut and the stylist pointed in the same spot and verbally repeated it back to me. (My chest was a reference point as well) SHE CUT IT 6 INCHES SHORTER. (This isn't an exaggeration, I measured it) I feel like a boy now. She literally cut almost ALL THE COLOR OFF and WASTED my money. I know hair grows back, but I'm so sad because I paid a lot to get it colored and was so happy with it. I'd never gotten it colored before, so I was nervous and excited. I also have to go to a wedding like this now. I feel like she partially didn't realize how short she was cutting it, but a part of me feels like it's because I wouldn't pay for other services she offered. Also the waiting area bench fabric is extremely ripped on the seat. It looks cheap and dirty. This is the first thing a customer sees when they walk in. If that's how you maintain the front area of your business then how do you treat the rest of it? Take care of your business. Never going back here again. Never recommending this to a friend. I am reposting. I had been a Dazzle client for about five years. My hair looked a mess after not being treated for four months. So I was happy to hear the salon was reopening on June 22. David was not able to give me an appointment till June 24 because the salon was all "booked up". David gave me a cut, deep conditioning, base color and highlights. The cut was fine but the color was drab. This has happened in the past with David - sometimes, my hair needed more highlights. Since I live close to the salon, it was not a problem to go back. However, this time, David was badgering me about an appointment. I called on the following Monday and the salon was "so booked up" that he could only grudgingly fit me in on a Thursday night. I went to another salon and they took me on the same day. David was also in a rotten mood when the salon re-opened. He ridiculed my attempts to apply my own base color and said my "dark Italian hair" was showing through. Excuse me but Italians aren't the only people in the world with dark hair. Another major problem at this salon is the never-ending discussion of politics. David and his brother Michael are Trump supporters. I have also heard several racial and ethnic remarks but I will not go any farther. The constant talking in Russian is also irritating. You would think that after doing my hair for so many years, David would leave the highlights on a bit longer or put me under the dryer to expedite processing. Good Riddance. read more

Moved to NYC about a month ago and needed a haircut ASAP. I was shocked by all the local prices ~$50 -$120 for shampoo and cut. I saw Dazzles on yelp and read the price of $25 and was excited but also nervous. It was significantly cheaper than many of the places around it in the midtown area. Figure I'd try it out anyways and was surprisingly pleased! Made an appointment with David a day in advance. Had 4 inches cut off, with some layers put in. He was very attentive to the haircut and took his time. I appreciated that. Plus he gave good advice about the cut and length. Definitely giving this place 5 stars. Don't be nervous. I cannot believe I paid someone to do THIS to my hair. It is a total hack job - uneven, chunky cut lines all over. He didn't take any time to blend it. During the cut, he was violently ripping through any snarls, breaking my hair off with every brush stroke. This is hands down the worst hair cut I have ever had. I seriously regret walking through their door. Before I left, he blow dried and styled my hair, which camouflaged the jagged lines all over. It wasn't until I washed it and tried to wear it straight that I could see just what he had done to me. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

I was desperately in need to get my ends trimmed. There were a few vacations worth of damage. I found this place through lifebooker and their regular rates were just as good as the others discounted rates, so I decided to try. Plus, if you go to their site, you get a 10% off coupon for being a first time customer. I got a deep conditioning treatment and a trim (no styling). My hair was to the middle of my back, I told him that I wanted my ends trimmed with long layers and said "not too short". Before I knew it, my hair was skimming my shoulders.... no layers.... and he said "Is it short enough for you?". Needless to say, I wasn't too happy, but I paid my money, and used my "first and last time customer" coupon and left. read more

I've read the reviews and came here with a groupon now deal. That includes a cut and a deep conditioning treatment. Stay far away from the deep conditioning treatment, it doesn't work. Hair felt more coarse after the treatment. The people are nice, but the quality isn't there. I asked for basic layers and side bangs, but I received a very choppy haircut, and there's no way out. My hair wasn't fully blow dried, and even though I didn't ask for the styling treatment, they were done with me and I looked like I spent the entire night rolling around in bed. I asked to borrow the straightener so I can straighten the mess, but they said no. So they let me walk out their doors with a bad haircut. Oh and if you're someone who enjoys the hair wash, definitely do not count on getting a good one here. All in all, not a pleasant short or long term experience. read more

Easy, breezy process and reasonable prices to match! I called the day before and explained the urgency of getting in quick. They scheduled me a next day appointment at 2pm. Upon arrival, they were fairly busy. They offered me warm beverages and updates as the time went on (and I was only waiting a few minutes after my appointment). My stylist, David, was seriously so pleasant to spend the afternoon with! We had great conversation the entire appointment! And before the chatting began, he took time to learn about my hair history, review a few of my photos, and discuss color options! I have had the same hair dresser since I was 12, but I don't always have the time or the energy to travel out to NJ for a haircut. So this past Saturday, I gathered up the courage to try someone new. I walked into to Dazzle with no appointment around 2pm. It was no problem and I was in the chair before I could blink. David also gave me a free/complimentary leave-in hair treatment, which was a great surprise. He gave me a wonderful trim, a long fringe (as requested), and was a pleasure to interact with. David is always so accommodating and polite; and very professional! Ask for him! I got a life booker and booked an appointment. Very friendly and attentive staff. Victor washed my hair and gave me an amazing scalp massage ! I got my haircut here last October when I was just passing by. David gave me my haircut and it was absolutely beautiful. I am extremely picky with my hair cut but he understood what I wanted and gave me exactly that. He was very friendly, gave me tips on how to take care of my hair and also gave me a free blow dry. I went back again today and requested for David. He gave me an even better haircut today and I love it! The initial way to test a salon is to go in, ask for a trim and see how much they take off. After three successful cuts at Dazzle, today I finally had the courage to let someone new color my hair. I haven't had my highlights done in probably almost a year due to a very bad experience last time. But alas, this "ombre but not really ombre" look I had going on really had to go. I went in to the salon, had a conversation with Michael about my hair (less blonde, more golden brown ish), and he got it completely. Long story short, I couldn't be happier. He even told me I had three days to come back if I thought the highlights were too light and he'd darken them for free. I've been a few times because $25 is a great deal for a totally solid cut (they'll give you the same price without lifebooker--but I make sure to tip at least 25%.) If you can find a better or equal cut for that price, I'd love to know about it... You do have to be specific/firm with your instructions in my experience. I don't know why no one (at any salon) ever believes I *really* just want a trim unless they show me how much they'll cut and I keep saying "not so much!". Disclaimer: I have really easy hair to cut, as in really, really strait and medium-length, so I don't really know how they do with curly hair, thick hair, or complicated styles. Was looking for a new salon in the city after just moving here from L.I. My roommate recommended this salon to me. I called and made an appointment, though I think they take walk-ins, and had a pretty good experience. They were nice and attentive and gave me a great hair cut. Also gave me a new customer discount, which was nice. I think they charge a fee if you use a credit card, but it wasn't a big deal. I'll definitely be going back. read more

I have lived in the Murray Hill section for 2 years and have tried many salons in this area. Dazzle is by far the best I have been to and will now make it my regular salon. Other salons try to up sell you for services you don't want and products you don't need. That's not the case with Dazzle. I've had a blow out done by David and recently a cut and dry by Michael. I have been in Manhattan for about 9 months and have avoided worrying about my hair, but there comes a time in a girls life where she needs to just sit down and let someone do her hair. I came to Dazzle due to a recommendation by a friend of a family friend and honestly, I was really really nervous. I've had one person do my hair for the past few years so although I read all the great reviews on here, I was still nervous. Once I walked into the salon everything changed. I met Michael (the manager) and he took me under his wing. He looked at my hair after I told him what I wanted and just went to work. What was really cool was the fact that he took me through the process and would tell me what he was doing , when he was doing it and how he was gonna do it. It was nice to be kept in the loop. There have been times with other hair dressers who just kinda do what they want and I don't even know what was happening. The whole process took about 4.5 hours. I know I know What the heck? How could that happen? Honestly, they made the process seem like an hour. They were constantly asking me if I wanted anything to drink, gave me magazines, explained everything so that really helped let the time fly. After all the foils were out of my hair, the hair was dry, the bangs were cut - I fell in love with my new do. Michael really really really knows what he is doing. He takes pride in his work and you can tell. Since it was my first time he also gave me a massive discount which was over the top sweet of him. All in all - I had an amazing experience. The price I paid was totally worth everything I received and my hair is fantastic! Here's a little Tip: Bring extra cash for tipping, they can't do it on credit card. Enjoy! read more
