I met Jada after a few years of a bit of colorist hopping which meant she had A LOT of different shades/growth to blend together - and boy DID SHE! She did such a fantastic job I haven't let anyone else color my hair since! She always does an excellent job nailing a vibrant and long-lasting (ammonia-free) red that ALWAYS gets compliments...even as it fades and all I can see in the mirror are my roots - I'm STILL getting compliments on the color! Jada instantly impressed me from the start with her great care to detail (less dye-stains on your forehead & every little whisp of hair COVERED!) but - even better over 9 years in....I truly feel like I've found a friend! I love coming in and catching up on the myriad of topics we've covered in our lives through the years. It's very pretty, but I have now tried getting my hair colored 5 times (fixed twice - not impressed either time), and cut twice (fixed once, which actually made it worse). Where the salon is very pretty, I actually feel the stylists I saw are more at the level of a budget salon disguised in a pretty salon. When I pointed out the banding at the top of my head, I was told "it will fade". 1) it hasn't. 2) why am I walking out of a salon after a fix still with banding? I will not be returning. read more

First of all , my color was never correct until I went to Jada Z! I've been following her for years now. You think brunettes are easy? Think otherwise. It was either red, black, or whatever other color I did not want. In came Jada to rescue my hair, she was able to find the perfect shade of brown for my skin tone and eye color. I never looked back. I've never received so many compliments which is a true testament to her magic. She also uses top of the line products that keep my hair healthy and looking its best. She is also not only a very talented colorist, but she is very knowledgeable on what your hair needs to maintain it looking its best! Highly recommend!! For cuts I recommend Mika Supputo she has an amazing eye and basically gave me the haircut i didn't know I needed. She will also teach you how to style your own hair which is super helpful and a plus in my book. I also highly recommended Janine Pastore for Great Length extensions whenever I need that extra va va voom for my hair! Shes the it girl for extensions and great blowouts!! Romy did my blowout; she was friendly and did a nice job. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about Rebecca, the colorist. I showed her a picture of me and told her I wanted to go back to the same shade of blonde - a cold blonde on the ashy side. She barely looked at the picture, went to mix the color and started slapping highlights on without any care. The result is a spotty, uneven and brassy color that looks absolutely terrible. She did not even come to check on me during the process. Worst experience and absolutely not worth the money I spent. read more

This is a low quality salon disguised as a fancy upper east side salon. Went in and all I wanted was the same glaze that my hairdresser at home does and I told them the formula. That didn't sit well with eddies ego. He implied that my hairdresser (who is family) doesn't know what she's doing and is beneath him because she just does hair in Ohio. He put his own formula on my hair, made me blow dry it myself?, and I could tell that my roots were lighter than the rest of my hair. So he had to do it again. It still isn't as dark as I wanted - which is why my hairdresser at home uses the formula she uses. Then I got charged the most expensive price because he's the owner - this is a service I could easy have done myself (better) if I had the product. I am not one to write a negative review, however I had a really sneaky and deceiving experience here. On their website, haircuts are advertised as $115+ , going up in price based on experience. When I called to make my appointment, I explained that I was a new customer and did not have a preference. Turns out, I was put with the most expensive stylist at the salon with no warning for a $250 haircut - a TRIM actually - and found out after the service was done. When I called the salon to express my confusion, I was told that I should "just know" to not say no preference or I may get charged for the top stylist and it's something I should learn for next time. The manager offered 20% off the next time I get color at the salon after than proceeding to tell me my COLORIST LEFT THEIR COMPANY - safe to say I will literally never be back here. As a 24 year old woman, it feels incredibly deceiving and sus to be charged such an amount knowing how naive I was while making my haircut. read more

So I just got back into the city and needed a haircut BAD. Its been like 1 year and 6 months due to the pandemic. At this point I can no longer straighten my hair because the ends need to go. And I knew I had breakage and slipt ends on top of that. Now I have natural hair, a big oh afro, which is information they took down for me. Now I style my hair a little like Corinna's the Senior Stylist there that I saw. So that was the easy part (I had my fiancee send me photos of myself when my hair is straighten because I don't have any). I did a soft blowout just to stretch my hair out. Got an email from my colorist saying and I quote "complimentary color brow dry". Very misleading. Came in for the sole fact that she was offering complimentary service to keep her clients seeing as she had moved salons. Only after everything had been done, was I told that only the blow dry aspect was complimentary and that it was a "misunderstanding". Felt like a trap. read more

No words to describe the service I received at Eddie Arthur Salon yesterday. I came in for a color, cut and blow dry through a referral from a friend who lives in the area. I was going from dark brunette to a soft dirty blonde with some low lights for face framing. Eddie Arthur Salon is a SCAM.   Here are the top 3 reasons why:   Overcharging- They gave me a quote before starting on my hair ($185), and then when they "finished," it ended up being DOUBLE the price (for a terrible/ unfinished job). Purposely won't give you the color you ask for right away to keep you coming back - They said they could do what I asked for (balayage highlights) in one shot, but when they "finished," they stuck me with a huge $400 bill and said that to achieve the color I want, I have to come back monthly for a year; and note- NONE of these monthly visits would be  covered by the enormous amount of money I already paid. I would have to pay $400 at every visit. (That would come out to $4,800.00 in the end just for some simple blonde highlights!- That's INSANE) Heavily edit the photos on their website/ Instagram page-  Rebecca Merrick posted a "before and after" photo of my hair on her Instagram page that was edited a ton. It made me look mostly blonde when in reality, I left with the same light brown hair I walked into the salon with. My family and friends couldn't even tell that she did anything to it.   I spoke to Rebecca, the manager, and the owner about how dissatisfied I was with my hair after visiting their salon and they rudely brushed me off. Usually a salon will fix your hair for free if you're not happy with it. Yet, this salon just tried to scam me out of more money for a job NOT done. Don't waste your time or your money here- I promise, you will be disappointed to say the least. read more

*I purchased an $85 Gilt deal for this haircut so this may not be relevant to everyone. I just moved back to NYC and remember having a great haircut a few years ago through Gilt. This was not my experience with this salon. When I called to make my appointment, I didn't tell them that I had a gilt voucher right away. When I disclosed that before hanging up, the receptionist got a bit of an attitude and said they didn't have a "gilt stylist" on the day that I wanted. That was fine, I scheduled for another day. When I got there, again, attitude but the place was completely empty. The stylist was super nice and we chatted the whole time. I was surprised when the haircut seemed to go fast and when she didn't ask me how I wanted my hair styled. Now this is my fault: I was kind of zoned out and when I looked at my hair (still hot from the blow dryer), I didn't notice that it was a terrible cut. When I left I realized that from shampoo to style took 45 minutes. I have a long thick head of hair that requires layers to lighten it up. Essentially the stylist trimmed the length and ignored my layers that were cut 4 months ago. It looks ridiculous. I look like an eight grader whose mom cut her hair. I am going to have to go to another salon to get it fixed but I am very upset that this was likely due to the Gilt. I could have found a much better haircut in the city at any price range. They should not advertise this service at their typical haircut because clearly it was not. Or maybe it was and that's why the place was empty. Either way, I'm upset about the hassle, dishonesty, and the embarrassing haircut and will never use Gilt or this salon again. read more

So happy I found this place! I was desperate for a haircut and have had bad luck at other hair salons in the past. (Nothing worse then spending good money on a bad cut.) I was greeted by a very nice receptionist and offered a beverage when I arrived. The salon is very modern-looking and clean. I was scheduled to meet with a less experienced hair stylist who seemed confident. She assured me she would not cut anymore than I asked and even showed me prior to cutting. As the haircut progressed, more and more was snipped off. I was then told that "it is still long when you put your hair behind you." I currently wear my hair in a bun since I am not happy with the length and waiting for it to grow out before I wear it down again. I am disappointed that my request was not followed through when I was very clear with my desires and repeated throughout the haircut.
