We just got a home in Alafaya and had been living here about a month and a half, and we were coming back from Lowes, right down the road, with a Shop Vac we just bought to drain the AC... Well when we got in wouldn't you know it there was a new SHOWER in our downstairs guest bathroom from a flooding AC up above! I was quite impressed with this service! I contacted them and someone picked up right away. The staff member who spoke to me was incredibly knowledgeable on their products and services. The person was kind enough to send me an email document breaking down their preventative maintenance plans and the benefits of them. I scheduled an appointment, and my technician, Stephen Chaplin, arrived right on schedule! Mr. Chaplin was incredibly friendly and personable. He knows his craft quite well, as he explained to me all of the details of what was happening regarding my A/C unit and the maintenance he was performing. i am over the moon right now, my experience with Jason and his company was beyond amazing! originally i had called out another company to diagnose my AC unit and they said i needed a motor replacement, i needed a new capacitor, i needed this and that and the total quote was about $3000. now i don't know much about ACs but i sure knew that i was getting ripped off. now, i got Jason's number from a friend who said that they only ever go with him. i called monday evening, he was at my doorstep tuesday morning. right from the start of the phone call he told me what he thought the problem could possibly be when i gave him my symptoms, it was extremely reassuring to hear someone who didn't just tell me "oh we can't tell you what the problem might be, we would need to send a technician out". when he came by, he was super friendly and he was able to diagnose the problem and fix it within minutes. guess what, the problem was not the motor and capacitor, it was a really simple fix, so simple in fact that Jason didn't even charge me anything. every step of the way, he was letting me know what he was doing, why he was doing it and it was more of an educational experience rather than what i've experienced with other AC companies who tried to keep me in the dark and not tell me what they were doing so they could charge me more for unnecessary work not just that, but i had a bunch of questions about HVAC stuff and Jason took the time to answer them fully and not just brush me off like other companies have done in the past it is extremely easy to be dishonest and charge an insane amount of money for parts and labor in the HVAC business as most customers do not know what they're looking at or even what to expect but Jason did not do that at all. he was honest right from the start and i think that is extremely hard to come by if you're ever looking for any work that needs to be done on your AC i cannot recommend this company enough, they have my business from now on and i don't think i will ever be contacting another company again! read more

I mean, October. When it's still 90 out. I had another company come out to diagnose the problem, and they said I needed a new outside unit. These guys are GREAT! They came out and had our AC fixed after part of it literally exploded in one day. The repairman actually stayed far after hours to ensure that our AC was up and running that same day so we wouldn't have to suffer in the heat. The owner was the one who did our estimate/initial consultation and he was absolutely wonderful - he was very friendly and taught us so much about our AC and what happened to it. He also made sure we got the best prices available on parts for it AND verified that the part which needed replaced was still under warranty - so we got it replaced for free whereas other places tried to quote us a price to replace it instead of checking to see if it's warrantied. (Just a note here, we only bought the house two years ago so we didn't really know for sure what was under warranty and what wasn't.) On top of that, the phone service was friendly and fast, and their prices are GREAT! Better than any other AC company we called in central FL! Jason did not arrive with a face mask or wear a face mask during his servicing. This was extremely disappointing. His attitude was unpleasant and he even created/left a stain on our carpet. He was far from professional to say the least. To make matters worse, he spent 15 minutes tops in our home, quickly clearing a drain line using a hose, and we were left with an unexpectedly expensive bill. After our service call late on Friday night, we are huge fans of DC/AC Air Conditioning and Heat! Friday night, our A/C unit out on the slab stopped working, and being summer in Florida, it started to warm up quickly. So, I did a general online search for air conditioning companies who offer 24/7 and called three different places, and the first two had no one available, and the third company told me they'd give me a call back once their tech was available. Then we contacted someone at DC and were told right away that they'd come out in 30 minutes. Within that timeframe, Stephen was there and he sorted out the problem ASAP. I explained I was on a tight budget and they gave me a good quote to replace plus was able to apply for financing on the website. After inheriting my home from my father, I had to find a new A/C guy since the other one had retired. Brent, the owner, came out to my house for the annual checkup. He was on time and was and very informative - explaining everything he did will I watched! His rate for seasonal tuneup was reasonable and he told me that once a year for that service should be enough. He also noted that the pressure for the Freon was down, suggesting a leak, but after he put in two pounds with no change in pressure, he determined there was another cause. However, he did not charge me for the two pounds of Freon (which would have cost $150)! He found a major leak where the duct was coming out of the unit and recommended an inspection of all of the duct work - which revealed several tears from critters that had gotten under the home. Not only that, one of the main ducts was completely disconnected, which explained why only the vents in half of the home had air coming out of them. I also had noticed that the unit was not cooling the home down rapidly like it use to. Now I knew why! One of Brent's employees, John, did the replacement work and he also was informative, showing me what he was doing at each step. Brent was not going to be able to get to the job as quickly as I hoped, due to other projects, but rather than wait until after the weekend, he asked John to do the job on a Saturday, for which I was very grateful. I didn't want to air-condition the neighborhood any longer than I had to! DC/AC did a fantastic job and a reasonable price and I feel confident that I have my A/C guy for the foreseeable future. read more

Finding a reliable AC company is as difficult as finding a great auto mechanic. If you are lucky enough to stumble on to the right company don't ever let go. We thought we found the right guys several years ago until we had a major issue with our larger unit. We were told we had to replace it but things seemed a little fishy so we wanted a second opinion. Out of the blue we called DC/AC and found Brent. They cam out quickly and helped us determine that the guys we were using were incompetent or dishonest. This is one of those industries where you need to take the word of the expert you call. Most of us are clueless in matters like these. DC/AC has been my go to since 2010. We have never been disappointed and we always feel comfortable with their diagnosis. I know I can reach the owner if there is a problem but members of his team have never made me want to call him. These guys have done several jobs for us at a couple different houses, ranging from an elaborate move of an air handler from an attic to a garage + re-ducting, to a simple installation of a Nest thermostat (made slightly less simple by a broken wire when we removed the original thermostat - WHY are the wires behind thermostats always so freakin' short?) and they are always prompt to return calls, on time for appointments, professional and competent, and reasonably priced. Back in 2014 we called DC/AC because of their excellent online reviews and had them install a new unit. The install went well and the team there, including Josh was very professional and knowledgeable. Through no fault of DC/AC, the unit we had installed had an issue due to what I believe is the fact that (at least) one coil is made of copper vs. aluminum. Apparently, copper blows (and not in the cool way) in the Florida heat and aluminum is better. Over the past two years, we've had to call these guys out and they've always been super responsive, ultra professional and willing to go the extra mile. To echo some other Yelpers, it does seem quite rare these days to work with just plain honest, hard working people who put the customer first. I've only used these guys once, but would definitely use them again! I live in Colorado and rent out my condo near UCF in Oviedo, Florida. My renter notified me that the A/C stopped working and it was 86 degrees in the condo. Very disappointed. While the owner was nice, we have had issues and are very underwhelmed. We had a very small leak on our ceiling that appeared to be coming from our upstairs AC unit. We called DC AC as soon as we noticed it and a few days later a repairman was sent out. He said there were absolutely no issues and it was from something different. He checked both our ac units, we paid him ($100.00), and that was it. Two weeks later a floodgate of water came seeping through the once tiny spot that he claimed was not an issue. We called them again right away and we were told they couldn't get anyone out to us for two days. Fine, we will deal with it until then. Our scheduled day comes up (which I had to take off work for) and he calls and says that there are so many other things going on that he couldn't make it out to us. Annoyed, but giving him the benefit of a doubt we reschedule for two days later. After all, we had already paid them once to come out and felt that they should come and fix what they claimed wasn't broken to begin with. This time a different repairman comes claims he sees the issue and 'fixes' it with another $85.00 charge-with who knows how much water damage. Not even joking a week later the same thing happens; flooding from the unit upstairs. We make shifted a contraption that would catch the water now that we knew where it was coming from and called DC AC again. At this point we're very irritated and feel that they should fix the issue for free. We have scheduled three appointments with them for them to call and cancel the day of with the excuse that "we're too far away" (even though our area is listed above as part of their jurisdiction they cover). Mind you now we have drywall damage because it took them so long to come back out from the previous occasions. We have called another AC company out and the second he saw the unit he knew exactly what was wrong and it was a simple fix that caused a heck of a lot of damage because it wasn't caught in the beginning when we first called. Not only that , but the work that DC AC did preform wasn't even correct according to the new AC repairmen. read more

Called last night to have someone come out bc my AC is not working, he could not come out last night but said he could make it out this morning, I went ahead and agreed bc I figured I could make it through the night with no AC this is June 30th so it's in the hottest point of the year by the way. HE couldn't give me a specific time so we agreed he would call when he was on his way and I would confirm I was home. He called at 8:49 am, I was in the bathroom so I didn't answer but I immediately called him back at 8:52 am and he tells me it took too long for me to call him back so he had moved onto a commercial job.
