He proceeded to give me a call to belittle me about my prior career experience solely due to the fact that he did not agree politically with my former employer. This was completely unprofessional. I received a promotion and pay raise after working with Jim to help me move forward in my career! Jim was a great help when it came to reaching my career goals! Together, we revamped my resumé and cover letter and put new interviewing skills to practice. Jim took the time to go through my resumé line by line with me, strengthening each bullet point while also improving design. He provided constructive feedback and was very knowledgeable about which skills and experiences were most beneficial for me to emphasize for the position I was applying for. He provided a simple, yet very effective cover letter outline for me to use. He worked with me to brainstorm a first draft of my own letter with the template. Jim takes no personal or professional responsibility for the results of his work- or lack thereof. He views himself as something of a local celebrity for having secured some media spots- and as such has a haughty style of interacting whether on the phone, in writing- or in person. He will also verbally offer you a money back guarantee to close the sale- and will subsequently reneg. Above all, Jim does not- and WILL not- care about you. Regardless of your circumstances- or the personal sacrifices you make to place your trust and faith in his abilities- Jim will not deliver- and that doesn't bother him in the least. I feel that Jim might be very helpful for some people, but I was disappointed and also did not get the results I reasonably expected. My two main concerns are as follows: 1) It appeared to me that Jim has a cookie-cutter way of approaching career advice. In principle I do not have a problem with that, but after the first meeting I would have expected that he realized that this had already been tried and adjusted accordingly. Which brings me to the second point. 2) For the hourly price I was paying, I believe it would be reasonable to expect that he would at least have reviewed the resume I had emailed. I got the very clear impression that when we met he was seeing my resume for the first time. A minor quibble is the ruthlessness with which he maintains his schedule, which may be a habit from his practice. I just wish he was as ruthless in the interest of his clients as he is towards his clients. read more

I went to Jim for a few sessions back in spring and summer 2013 when I was stuck in a role at a government contractor that I was dissatisfied with but could not escape without risking long-term unemployment. Jim was very empathetic and did a great job with helping to improve my resume. However, Jim's coaching didn't help me with job search strategy and actually was discouraging. I didn't want to pay $200+ an hour to feel hopeless when I could feel hopeless for free, so I didn't make any more appointments with Jim. I did get a new job through a completely different avenue. I'm in the job market again now, but my money and time will be best spent networking with people in my field. read more

I called Mr Weinstein to schedule an appointment. I was going on vacation in less than a week and wanted to get it scheduled before leaving so I could come back recharged and ready for change. He was somewhat pushy...pressuring me into coming in prior to leaving on vacation. I told him my schedule was hectic and I didn't think it would be possible but he continued to push and I relented. I called him back the next day to reschedule, 2 days prior to my appointment, because my schedule was just too packed and I had a time conflict. He was very upset and told me next time he needed more notice. I then sent him an email (because he was pushy and I didn't want to speak with him on phone), requesting a different day 12 days in advance. He NEVER returned email to confirm or deny. The day came and went and I finally received a response from him asking why I failed to make the appointment (the appointment he never confirmed). He just came off as pushy, spacey, disorganized and not the most technologically savvy. Update...he did email a nice apology and made his best attempt to rectify the situation. Misunderstandings happen. read more

When I met Jim, I was recently out of college working a horrible job (daily deal-with-it harassment which led me to a pretty low point), and meeting with Jim gave me hope that I could get out of the situation I was in and do something more meaningful with my life. I had an extremely successful but ultimately unsatisfying 20-year career in marketing and advertising. Successful in that I worked with great companies, did good work, and was well compensated. Unsatisfying in that, at the end of the day, I did not feel I was honestly being myself or leaving the mark I wanted to make. At that point, I decided to go to graduate school to pursue a degree studying the (fraught) interactions between religion and society in the US.
