Our front door jammed in the locked position, so I set up a non-emergency appointment. Udi arrived an hour late and maskless even though their listing notes that staff will be masked. He got the door unlocked in about 10 min and offered to replace the unit, but he only had two knob options of silver or brass, neither of which matched our current hardware, so we decided we would forgo that and replace the lock ourselves. He then charged $200 for 10min of work--$50 for the visit and $150 for a door unlock, which seemed downright scammy. (I should have thought to do an estimate first and will certainly do that in the future in any non-emergency situation.) So while this business got the job done, I definitely felt like I could have had better service elsewhere. read more

We just moved into a new townhouse with a fair amount of doors all with different keys that opened the locks on them, various kinds of doors and lock mechanisms, several of the locks barely worked at all, just a big mess. I thought I was handier than I am and managed to get my fiancé and I locked IN to our apartment. DC Locksmith rescued us from a trap of my own making, and from having to go in and out of our condo via a window. I tried to remove an (admittedly broken) door lever and replace it, but somehow got part of the door stuck in the frame and was unable to remove it. Fearing the worst as it was after 9pm and all the hardware stores were closed, I called DC Locksmith and they came within 30 minutes, didn't have he exact handle we needed (our HOA would know!) but put a replacement handle on for the interim, and returned at 9am with the exact lever we required! Avi was great. The deadlatch in my doorknob broke and I got stuck inside my apartment. After freeing myself I called DC locksmith based off of Yelp reviews. They called me back immediately and sent someone out the next day as I requested. When Avi came he assessed the situation and suggested a better and cheaper solution than I realized was possible in fixing the doorknob. He checked for the appropriate parts and came back today to install it. He took maybe two minutes to install it and cured me of any lingering claustrophobia I had. STAY CLEAR AT ALL COSTS! NEVER AGAIN! GO WITH LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE! Save your money and sanity. I never write bad reviews but this was a horrible/traumatic experience...wtf is a company that has employees like this...borderline scam. These other reviews must be cooked because this is an absolutely terrible service. When Avi came he was rude, unfair and completely unprofessional. After I was locked out, Avi looked at the my door and then told me it would cost $290 to drill-in and destroy my stuck lock and then replace it (which btw was much higher than the locksmith I since hired after him). I suggested trying to fix the lock with simply a pliers, Avi said it wouldn't work and proceeded to watch me literally do his job and struggle to fix the lock. (without destroying it) He then went back to his van to smoke and then said he would leave and go to another customer in 5 minutes. I literally fixed it myself using his pliers and after returning to his van, Avi said loudly in an angry voice, you still have to pay me $50. $50 for doing absolutely nothing?!! (other than being a dick) (also other company's usually have a $29 house call fee if that). He tried to convince me that I owed him $50 to use his stupid pliers for 5 minutes. (I had just borrowed a pliers from a neighbor for free) Sad that this happened, but glad I didn't let this guy destroy my lock for $290. Have since found another locksmith who is reasonable and doesn't try to scam people. read more

We had them do some moderately complex welding for the installation of an exit bar on an existing metal gate and they also installed an electronic strike for a new security access system for the building. Their workmanship is top-notch and they're also one of the only (or the only) locksmith in DC that also offers welding services.
