We used DC Moving recently for a move within Alexandria. For context, we were moving from a 2 BR two story townhouse condo to a 3 BR split level house. I requested quotes from about 8 different moving companies I found on Yelp. DC Moving was one of the first to respond, and their price was the best of the four companies who responded. Dasha was the person I communicated with, and she was very clear when providing the quote and working on the scheduling. The three movers (Oleg, Ross, and Dani) worked well together as a team and had clearly worked together before. They were fast and efficient. Great moving experience this summer. I really appreciated the movers being exactly on time when they said they will come. They were confident in and capable in finding their way around the streets, side alleys and loading docks without needing constant input. I especially appreciated the movers spoke English, so it was easy to communicate during the move. I had a large queen bed they disassembled and reassembled at a new location at record time. Not only did the receptionist show empathy for my situation, she scheduled me a same day appointment, which other movers either refused to do or didn't have the capacity to. The movers we were assigned were great (5 stars), however I would not use this company again nor recommend to business associates. Business owners use with caution. If your company has procurement policies in place, this moving company is a bit underdeveloped to be in compliance with them pressuring you to pay via cash or Venmo immediately. This was not communicated to us until the move was completed and everyone was ready to go home. We have worked with 2 other local moving companies that specialize in commercial moves with no issues , but due to time constraints decided to try a new company. I wish I had vetted a bit better. When it became clear that the company contact (Dasha)was unclear of what an invoice was, I should have moved forward with another company with more experience with corporate clients. Ultimately, I am thankful the move is over and the movers (T and team) were great. Hopefully others have a better experience than we did. For the longest time I debated getting movers and I am so glad I did and went with DC Moving. John and his team were extremely thorough, communicative, and efficient. It was so great getting to unpack while they continued to move things in. Nothing was broken at the end which is incredible as we live in a row home with three very narrow flights of stairs. Worked but did procrastinate. Had a 2 bedroom apt going to a ramble and they took 8 hrs. Still left their cloth wrapped around my entertainment center wick is upside down in my living room. It was hot that day but they had elevators and a/c my boyfriend was not happy with how they performed. He had to leave so he would say something inappropriate. When they finally got to the house they put almost all the boxes in my livingroom. I had things labeled and was telling them where it should go. Because they worked so poorly they wanted to hurry and finish and leave. They worked 8 hours at $159/hrs. I paid because the sun did work them, but the guys are just not effective in being productive. read more

The second was to move the remaining items from our home once it sold (along with the items in storage) to our new place. For both moves they arrived on time, treated our items with great care, and worked very hard to finish quickly. We contacted DC Moving a week before we needed to move as we were in need of last minute help. They responded quickly and we were happy with their rates. On moving day, I was out of town but my husband handled the move. He was so impressed with their professionalism, how quickly they worked and how they were able to maneuver our furniture. We had one couch in particular that we thought they would have to pop out our sliding doors to get out the house (that's how it got in our house... when delivered by the furniture store). They indulged my husband as he explained how to get it out. But then with a few simple clicks, they disassembled the furniture and got it out the front door lol. He couldn't stop talking about how easy they made it all look! An additional bonus... we paid in cash to save 5%. If we hire them again, we can save 10%! Safe to say, they won us over today. The Uber ride was not complimentary, the charge was added to the bill, which is right. The crew did not check "the condition of the electronics in the mode on" at any time. I also contacted you clowns hours after the move was finished bringing the damage to your attention, and I continued contacting you all for "several weeks after the move's completion" as you clowns did nothing. You all offered a technician to come out, then you all told me that resource was not available. Given they are clearly willing to lie, AVOID THESE CLOWNS. read more

I've never hired movers in the past, so this was my first experience with movers! I was very pleased with their service. They were very efficient and professional. Before the move, I was in contact with their team and they gave me an estimate of how much everything would cost and answered all of my many questions. They followed up with me multiple times to make sure I had all the information I needed. They are quick to respond to emails and calls, which I really appreciate! During the move, the movers easily found the loading dock and didn't start the clock until they got into my unit. When they got there, they assessed all of the items that needed to be moved and moved everything strategically. I was impressed at how quick they were to move everything. I required a local move with about a 1BR apartment's worth of furniture. I quoted a bunch of moving companies, and most of them had a 3 hour minimum charge, so I chose DC Moving Inc because of they had 2 hour minimum charge instead. DC Moving Inc sent 2 guys who were careful and professional with my furniture, even though there were unfortunately rain during the move. They finished the move in 1 hr 40 minutes, and charged me the agreed upon 2 hour minimum rate. Would definitely recommend and use again. read more

All our furniture was protected with padding and secured down for transit, there was no damage, and everything was put where we needed it. DC Moving did a terrific job from customer service to the actual move. Julia was very easy to communicate with via email and very responsive. We had to reschedule a couple of times and she was very flexible and understandable. There were three guys (Dan, David, and Pedro) that showed up for the move and they brought the right size truck based on the items we had to move. The wrapped up the mattress and the TV as requested for a slight extra charge. Nothing was damaged and they completed the job before the 3 hour minimum. They did not waste any time moving or travelling nor did they break at all. They didn't wear masks but they were all vaccinated and were respectful of distance.
