Thanks Volt! I highly recommend this roofing and solar company. Buck and his team are great: very…read moreknowledgable, hard-working, and have amazing attention to detail. On top of that, they're just good down-to-earth people. We hired them last spring to re-roof our home, replace some rotted eaves and fascia and replace our old solar system (it was inefficient and malfunctioned quite a bit). We are very happy with what we got for the price we paid, it was a good value. It looks so much better than it did before and is consistently producing more energy. I feel like they helped us make the right decisions through the whole process, especially for system size to be able to keep our NEM1 status. The new roof looks great and works really well. I waited almost a year to write this review to make sure there wasn't any water intrusion during the winter storms - not a drop anywhere. They were in the mid-high range in pricing on the bids we got, but I'm happy we spent a little more went with them. Can a roof be sexy? Ours sure is. All in all, if you need a new roof or solar system or home battery, or all of the above, call Volt. They are a competent and professional group of local people who are really f**king good at what they do.

After much research, we had the top six companies quote us estimates for solar on our Loomis house…read more I noticed that each company explained the process differently; some explanations were good, while others left me more confused. When Buck arrived, he stayed until we were satisfied with our understanding, and I learned so much more from his explanations than from all other companies. Considering they were also roofers and understood the difficulty with our high-pitched roof, we placed more confidence in them than the others. Hence, we chose them after a month of research and estimates. Kristen, their assistant manager, was very communicative throughout the entire project, keeping us informed about what was happening behind the scenes with permits, PG&E approvals, and the team's schedule. That helped us understand the project's time frames. Bucks crew -- Jared, Sean, and the others -- were friendly and professional. They worked quickly and efficiently to finish the job, paying close attention to detail. They went above and beyond, including sharing additional insights about our gutters and attic. I could tell they understood the bigger picture, and I am grateful for their effort. After researching many companies, we are happy we chose Volt Modern and will definitely recommend them to others looking for solar installation and roofing services.

We have a complete solar system including battery backup sold and installed by Westhaven Power…read more My wife and I had been looking for Solar for over two years. We had various companies come to our home for presentations and quotes. We finally settled on Westhaven Power. We liked the fact that they had been in business for a long time and they oversaw the project from start to finish. Our system is working great. We have experienced four blackouts by PG&E, which didn't affect us since we have the battery backup. A company is only as good as it's staff. We had excellent people from Westhaven working on our project. I want to give kudos to all the people we interacted with: We had John who was our salesperson he was always there day and night to answer our questions and take care of problems. The team leader for installation was Jerry. He and his team did a great job. The final inspector was Jason. All are great representatives for Westhaven. I also want to give special Kudos to Grace who works in administration. She notified us at different points in the installation to let us know when things were going to be done. She was also our contact for warranty work.

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with Westhaven Solar. I paid $600 just for them to come out and diagnose the issue--but that's where their service basically stopped. It has now been over 8 months, and the problem is still unresolved. I have contacted them over 20 times and I just keep getting the run around. They have not effectively communicated with the micro inverter manufacturer to process the warranty for the failed units, nor have they returned to complete the repairs. For such a significant investment, I expected far better customer service and follow-through. Unfortunately, this has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience.

I highly recommend you get competitive quotes, at least on solar batteries and watch for change…read moreorders if you do business with these folks. This is what happened: 1. I had an original contract. 2. The first contract had to be dropped due to items outside of Cal-Solar's control. (Fair enough). 3. Cal-Solar provided an update battery contract to an installation (solar installation) they sourced, they designed, they permitted, they installed, and they completed. 4. Cal-Solar wanted a change order on a system that had no changes and yet Cal-Solar claims the installed system had unknown items. (Keep in mind they did all the work...ALL of it.) 5. Cal-Solar waited till the last moment to notify of the changes which pushed against a tax-credit deadline. (From my chair seemed to be the goal.) 6. Cal-Solar provide large price increases to perform the work or quit...from 3.5k (to lose half the battery charging ability) or charge another 9k to add another battery. (Tesla charge half for a second battery, btw.) I'm not saying this will happen to you. I'm just saying what happened to me. As to the contract you sign: From my chair the company uses it for your compliance not theirs. (If you want to force compliance, then what do you do: take time, sue them, force an organization to do electrical work on your home to hit a contract??) Go

Everyone has always been professional and straightforward. What a difference it has made to our electric bill. Highly recommend!

Recently, my system advised SEG to come check the system and I was contacted immediately on a weekend by Brian Gardener-SEG's new President. Since 2018, Brian has my principal business/installation contact with SEG and has always stayed in touch with me. My system was repaired immediately under warranty and the SEG/Customer feedback and their system service restoration plan was effectively communicated by Brian and his team of professionals that always shine. I am back to generating electricity back to P.G.& E., thus allowing me to use my electrical demand when I need it, without constantly worrying about $$. I still conserve on my energy needs thanks to SEG's monthly newsletter. Call SEG now, if you want to schedule your system design and estimate. They are busy because they offer quality and a no-hassle installation and service guarantee. They back what they sell you and establish a long time relationship from the first contact call and each contact with you.

**UPDATE 5/27/26- Their license is in a SUSPENDED status according to the CA Contractors State…read moreLicensing Board** SEG is, without question, the most unprofessional and incompetent company we have ever worked with. There's far too much to cover in a Yelp review, but here's where we are six months after they claimed the project was "finished": we still have an open trench in our backyard and still don't have PTO from the local utility. Six months. I'll note we're clearly not alone...the pattern of reviews here speaks for itself. Like others, I'm keeping the bulk of the details offline until this is resolved, but I wouldn't hold my breath given how many people seem to be waiting for SEG to make things right. The short version: the owner took on far more work than he was equipped to handle, and customers like us are the ones paying for it.
