Dean and Robert didn't just do great work. They earned my trust. My wife designed the layout and my engineer contributed specifications. What impressed me is that Dean and Robert took both and made them better, using their real knowledge of how concrete works. The control joints are placed right, they put in real drainage with actual drains and grading built throughout, and it looks clean and classy without being overdone. Flatwork around the entire house, driveway, front yard, backyard, both sides, fencing, gates. Did they get everything perfect on the first pass? Almost. What separates them is that when something was off, they owned it completely. No excuses, no pushback, just fixed. They paid attention to details that other contractors I quoted either missed entirely or only caught after I nudged them. Dean caught everything without me saying a word. Every day at the end of their shift they cleaned up and secured the site, even when it wasn't convenient. Robert ran a tight field operation and cared about every detail like his reputation depended on it. I have a young kid at home and that told me everything about who these guys are. I had my own engineer come out and review the work on-site. He looked around and said, unprompted, "You've got a great crew here." Engineers don't hand out compliments. That meant something. These guys come from commercial construction and brought that level of expertise to a residential job without going overkill. I actually spotted their truck at another client's property. I'm a senior and a DIY and have been either active or on the sidelines of my own homes many upgrades. And as a Realtor, many other projects helping clients. And Deans staff headed by Robert is amazing. Not only do they do the finest work but they clean up every day like they have never been there. And there were items that I found were not in the quote that they knew needed to be done and just did them. I asked both Dean and Robert about that and they said that "there can be smaller things (big to a homeowner) that just don't take that much time. They did charge me for the extra supplies but they literally installed extra drains with extra trenching and work and a number of other things. They cleanly demoed our existing concrete and brick and installed a tricky driveway, two concrete patios with custom patterned expansion joints, and a curved concrete walkway. All the work turned out beautifully. They were reliable and so considerate of our property, our plans, and all our questions. We will work with them again whenever possible. Highlights: 1. Project was finished well within the originally estimated project duration. 2. Our yard and home were treated with the utmost respect. Nothing was damaged, they worked carefully around our plants and structures. 3. Dean was patient with us through the entire process, explaining how things would work and answering all our questions as they came up. These guys can also work under stress and handle the unexpected. It turned out all the gas lines on our street were getting replaced at the same time DCC were scheduled to do our yard. During demo they navigated parking bans, work crews, backhoes and borers, and general chaos daily. And it was often 90+ degrees. And the project STILL was on time. Then, on concrete pour day, while still navigating all the SDGE construction, they orchestrated time-sensitive pours in four separate areas around the perimeter of the home, all with different elevations and pretty narrow and/or steep access points. Final thing to note on the skill of everyone's work: a lot of the demo and concrete poured is adjacent to our home and existing retaining walls, which definitely required added care and skill to cleanly demo and then integrate the new concrete. Just had a slab poured and retaining wall replaced with Dean and his crew. He pricing was great, was able to fit me into his schedule a little early due to my commitments, and he never tried to cut corners. He didn't specifically spec the retaining wall but boy is that thing built well with some serious structural blocks and geomesh. Also the slab was way overbuilt. Answered questions in a timely manner and kept me updated along the way. I would choose him for all my concrete work but unfortunately don't have any more to do! read more

We recently bought a house, and part of the contingencies was to get a working fireplace. I put out quotes on Yelp to get it fixed, no one was willing to do the work or even come look. First 9 replies said "No we don't do that". My last hope was DCC and Chris responded saying he would happily come take a look to see if they could do the job. Chris came by, looked around, said no problem we can work something out here. Within 2 weeks from Chris responding on Yelp, we now have a beautiful working fire place. I also had a driveway and retaining wall project that needed to be redone since it was cracking and the fence was old and broken. In searching many contractors who specialized in concrete I found that Dean had the best price, so I agreed to a contract to have the work done. In addition, we included my retaining wall around the driveway. My driveway slopes about 30 degree hill and my retaining wall followed the curvature of the driveway from the top to the bottom of the driveway where we park our cars. Because of the slope of my driveway Dean promised me that the water would not run into my garage, so he made the proper adjustments in the pouring of the concrete to direct the rain water to run directly into the easement beside my driveway, which he also reconstructed. Thank goodness that It hasn't rained yet, but Dean has assured me if there was going to be a problem he would come back and take care of it - no charge. Dean is honest, friendly and very professional he promises his work and he makes you comfortable with the project because he said, "if he doesn't do it at his home then he won't with yours". Those are very powerful words and a commitment from a GREAT contractor. Dean and his crew are very dependable and when you work with Dean he's got your back and promises to deliver. Dean was one of the many licensed contractors I met with to discuss my backyard project. In fact, he was the very last one I had spoken to. He had plenty of great reviews and plenty of pictures of prior jobs completed to get an idea of the type of quality you'd expect from him. I was in desperate need for the asphalt driveway at my home to be replaced and after researching different concrete companies, I decided that DCC Construction was the one to use. Since I live on a hill, one of the main concerns that I had was flooding and ensuring that when it rains the water does not pool in the driveway or under the carport. I expressed my concerns to Dean and he listened. Not only did he make sure that the slope of the driveway was going to make the rainwater flow off of the driveway, he also ensured that the grade of the concrete was strong enough that it could sustain multiple cars without issue.
