They also installed footing drain (French drain) on the back retaining wall, backfilled with the usual gravel, crushed stone and covered the outside of the walls with installed paneled stone veneer. They also did the initial former structure demolition, debris hauling and the requested earth moving and other necessary small retaining walls reassembly. It sounds like an easy simple job but, believe me, it got complicated quite soon. Along the construction way, I was able to interact with the crew and bounce ideas and corrections which were followed to my customer satisfaction, resulting in more than a very acceptable final product. When the inevitable, beyond his control, the one odd crew helper misbehavior occurred on the job, this contractor immediately corrected it, got on top of the problem and smoothly and quickly we had no more of an issue here. He also facilitated for me the customer to bring my own tile / stone wall-caps products and installer guys, which ended doing a beautiful job we're very proud of. Pricing fair, not inexpensive. Job done acceptable, with your own (the customer) continuous supervision and being able to stop working crew's irreparable mistakes before they happened, however, the final product came out well built and functional as we imagined and expected, we are grateful for that. It is a flagstone patio in which he poured a concrete slab, let it set, then came back and set large pieces of flagstone on top in mortar while considering and making the drainage perfect. Not an easy task and needed an absolute professional and forward and smart thinker about the end project. Art Tarantino saw it all immediately and delivered in spades. I did get several other bids, he was the high end of the other bids, and had a longer wait time, but we are so glad we waited and went with him. His bid was true and we paid the exact estimate (no massive up charge at the end due to....you know the game). Can't recommend Tarantino Masonry enough, it's worth the wait!

I was given an excellent variety of bricks/blocks to choose for the wall, and the one I chose was competently installed. I was pleased to note the block I chose would be sourced from RCP in Chula Vista, where I have been a regular customer. The two workers agreed to relocate the existing pavers for my reuse as part of the original job. I really appreciated that. Although I was in no hurry, the job was completed quite expeditiously with the exception of the iron gate, the installation of which was subcontracted (and reviewed separately). The final results please me immensely. A&F solved a major problem, and I recommend the company to all.

Green Turf was referred to me by my neighbor.  He and I have worked together on other various yard improvement plans and since he carefully looks into company's he hires, I took advantage of his recommendation.  The workers are their employees, they do not outsource. When we first started planning, I wasn't sure how I wanted to proceed regarding what type of a patio I wanted and how I wanted the turf to be placed.  Jose worked with me and gave me some good ideas.  There was no rush or pressure and we took our time to make sure the plans were to my liking. When they started the job, the workers arrived on time everyday and they clearly knew what they were doing.  Since I am retired, I watched a lot.  They worked hard even though the days were quite warm, and yes, I gave them water and Gatorade. As they did the job, there were a few details I questioned about and I requested adjustments.  They handled these easily and quickly. When they were about finished, they handled the clean-up very well and even took care of a few things that were not planned. The whole job took about 10 days to complete.  During a final inspection, there were a couple more adjustments needed so they handled those as well. I am very satisfied with the patio floor as well as the astroturf. I will use Green Turf for my future needs.

Top notch masonry contractor. We demo'ed a small 2' x 35' retaining wall that had a pitifully…read moresmall footer poured. MM came in after demo and dug a SUBSTANTIALLY larger footer (this footer will outlive the house, it's a least 3 yards of concrete, over 10,000 lbs). MM built up a replacement block wall, with rebar and filled with concrete, as the original wall was supposed to have but was lacking. They performed all of the work in unfortunately some of the worst outdoor conditions we've seen - schedule wise it just so happened to be a heat wave of temps in the +105 in La Mesa, and would cool off over the weekend only to heat back up again during the week. Banged it out in a couple weeks, responsive to phone calls...wont hesitate to call for next round of masonry work needed.

He gave me a fair and reasonable estimate on the repairs and explained in detail how the repairs would take place. He ended up demoing a 6 foot wall for me and a concrete counter top. He repaired and reinforced a retaining wall and replaced and added fencing that needed to be completed. Mario was there each and every day to explain and answer my questions. His guys were careful during the demo and always made sure the work area was cleaned up. In fact, Mario and his crew did such a good job, I hired him for a second job that involved ripping out part of my concrete patio and repouring to fix a separation in the existing concrete. Mario was so courteous and easy to work with I felt like I knew someone on the inside. If I need anything repaired or created, this is the guy I am going to.
