Really torn on this review but I'm going to give you all the no bs assessment. Nash is a stand up…read moreguy. He honored a quote from several months prior, probably when nobody else would. He came out in a timely manner and scheduled us for install within a week. It was well over 100 degrees on the two days when our turf was installed. The install crew worked hard and got everything done (about 1,000 square feet) in two days. I did see cigarette butts and leftover trash in the yard after they left. The install looked decent at first. When I really got to look at it, there were two visible horizontal seams running the width of the turf. Nash sent the workers back out and they attempted to tidy up the seams, but ultimately told us the turf was shorter so we would see seams. We looked again, and there was about a half inch gap in one of the seams near a corner in the yard. They again came out and cut a new piece and fixed it, kind of. The more I walk around and looked at the job, I've noticed there are significant lumps and the surface is kind of rolling instead of flat. We had guests over and they even commented how our turf wasn't flat like other installs. Around the edges, the compaction was poor and the turf nails come up out of the ground with no retention at all. This causes the edge of the turf to lift up. We emailed Nash a third time but never heard back about this issue. It was a safety hazard with guests coming over so we purchased additional nails and fixed a portion of the issue. The more I researched turf install, I realized I don't believe they installed our turf with seam tape, glue, or any form of adhesive or joining. I've seen short turf and putting greens without any visible seams, so I don't understand why that would be an excuse. Overall, Nash was an upstanding guy who was respectful of our time. His pricing was average, and wasn't on the high or low end of the estimates we received. I don't believe any of the above issues were related to him, but the persons he hired to do the job. I was a bit surprised when we didn't hear anything from him when the job was complete, and he didn't stop by to inspect the work. I'm torn on this review because, like I said, I don't think it was his fault but the people he contracts with for the installs. I feel like we paid a lot of money for a lower end install, which is really disappointing and really still doesn't sit right with me.

They broke down concrete and installed pavers. I am beyond happy with the results. Nash is an outstanding guy, he helped us deal with a flooding issue when we were not there. He went out of his way to get a water pump and set it up for us. He didn't have to do it, but he still did as he is a very caring individual. Professionalism at its best. The results speak for itself. I can't wait to have another project or refer Ecograss to a friend. All his team was extremely professional and worked their butts off. Aaron was our sales contact, and he answered all my questions before I signed which made us feel good about using them and had some good suggestions. Their model of doing whatever we need and mixing with what other contractors we use is great; we for example purchased a quartzite slab for the kitchen and Rock N Block did the rest. The prices were very reasonable as well, and looking at the end product I think it was a great deal. The rest of the team, Alexis and Jose, did a great job keeping us updated and keeping our property clean. I'm not sure who the guys were that did the counter build, I think it was someone and his two adult kids, but they did an incredible job and it seemed like they took the time to do quality work. The rest of the project ran into some difficulty with the electrical hookup and gas move, but Jose still got the work done on time and worked well with our countertop fabricator to coordinate what they needed and when to install Overall went really well and would recommend them for any sort of hardscape project.

Here is how it went down: 06-29-2026 09:58 AM Mike from Evo Turf came out to my house. He said he would send an estimate by the end of the day. 07-01-2026 06:57 AM I emailed and texted them, "Hello Mike. You stopped at my house a few days ago. I haven't seen an estimate come through yet. Did you email one? " 07-06-2026 08:52 AM I called the office and left a voice mail. 07-06-2026 9:16 AM I got a text: "Hey there! It's Mike from Evo Turf&Pavers. Sorry I missed your call. I'll get back to you ASAP!" 07-08-2026 10:08 AM I got a text: "Hi good morning. Sorry I'll be back in town tomorrow." 08-10-2026 08:18 PM A month later and I have heard nothing. I don't usually chase people to give them my money. So now I will start over, with someone new. I don't know if my job was too small for them, or they are too busy, or they are just incompetent and lack systems and follow up. None of it is an excuse for how I was treated, and the time that was wasted. Evo Turf needs to rename itself to "Never Turf". That would be much more accurate. Hey, "Ev-OH NO! Turf", save the apology, and the request for a phone call to explain things and make it right. You are fired. Get a CRM with a follow up system, make sure the manager is on top of the salespeople. If you can't use a basic CRM, fire everyone and start over. As a matter of fact, the owners should fire themselves. You should not be operating a business. A lemonade stand maybe, a proper business, no. If you want to write me a check for the time I wasted, at my hourly rate, I estimate $1,000 will cover it. You have my address.

The workers are their employees, they do not outsource. When we first started planning, I wasn't sure how I wanted to proceed regarding what type of a patio I wanted and how I wanted the turf to be placed. Jose worked with me and gave me some good ideas. There was no rush or pressure and we took our time to make sure the plans were to my liking. When they started the job, the workers arrived on time everyday and they clearly knew what they were doing. Since I am retired, I watched a lot. They worked hard even though the days were quite warm, and yes, I gave them water and Gatorade. As they did the job, there were a few details I questioned about and I requested adjustments. They handled these easily and quickly. When they were about finished, they handled the clean-up very well and even took care of a few things that were not planned. The whole job took about 10 days to complete. During a final inspection, there were a couple more adjustments needed so they handled those as well. I am very satisfied with the patio floor as well as the astroturf. I will use Green Turf for my future needs.

Michael's bid was well within my budget, and he was able to schedule the job for a time that was convenient for me. He also offered clear explanations about why the work would best be done a certain way. When it came to the work itself, his crew was outstanding. They arrived on time, kept on schedule, and cleaned up the site at the end of every work day. I have never seen such an organized, well managed job site. They were truly exemplary in all respects, but especially in regards to the quality of their work. When it comes time to replace my fence, my patio cover, or my driveway, I will definitely call Michael.

In fact, his proposal included everything needed to properly prepare and establish a healthy lawn, while other estimates we received were significantly more expensive and included less. Michael recommended St. Augustine grass because we have a large dog, and within a week, his team was ready to start the project. He explained the entire process ahead of time and gave me detailed guidance about the watering schedule, mowing schedule, and recommended equipment for maintaining the new lawn. The crew was amazing--efficient, professional, polite, and extremely hardworking. Carlos, the crew lead, was especially impressive. He is calm, knowledgeable, and very detail-oriented. He listened carefully to every concern I had and made sure everything was addressed properly. The project was completed ahead of schedule, and they even installed a fence that we provided to protect the new lawn from foot traffic and our dog while it gets established. The finished lawn looks absolutely beautiful. The new sprinkler system is quiet, efficient, and works perfectly. They used new, quality materials and clearly did not cut corners anywhere in the project. After comparing several companies and estimates, I am very happy that we chose Pacific Landscaping and Maintenance. We received a better, more complete project at a very competitive price. My front and back yards are about 10 years old, but still look beautiful due to my diligent…read moremaintenance work. Some things I wish I knew then that I know now might help others when planning their yards. Yes, Smart Landscape does a lovely job. Here's what would have made my upkeep a lot easier. 1. Extra protection ground cover to eliminate weeds. Some yards get no weeds because a super heavy cover has been used. I've spent countless hours pulling weeds since yards were done. 2. Go over what plants are going to be used. If I'd done that, I would've saved money and work to remove those that had needles that made it difficult/dangerous to remove. 3. If the designer had visited front yard, he would have seen the slight slope and the DG pathway would not have been a logical design choice. Rain washes it away and I'll have to eventually figure out a way to close up that space. 4. At that time, I didn't meet with the designer. I should have. Although it's a lovely design, I would have pointed out a change or two I'd have preferred. 5. Gray DG is not readily available and it has been difficult to keep the pathway refreshed. Someone said that he was going to provide it, but never did. Overall, I am glad I hired Smart Landscape. UPDATE: I needed to come back to add another star after carefully considering how wonderful Danny and his team are to work with. I had met with no fewer than nine landscape companies before Smart Landscape and they were nightmares for various reasons. Danny is wonderful to work with and makes sure the customer is happy.

We had to fix our front yard, remove all vegetation, install moisture barrier, remove, re-arrange old pipes and water drainage, cover the sides of pathway with concrete and bring it to the level of the pathway. We met with 4 contractors and found Vindel's Construction to be the best. Berlin came to review the project and provided estimates within a day after contacting him. His professionalism, punctuation and technical knowledge are hard to find these days. He is very considerate person and kept us updated every step of the project. After we all agreed on the cost and day of the project, the execution of the project kicked off. His crew showed up at 7am and started working without taking any breaks. They are so hard-working guys and they know their work. After they replaced the pipes and re-arranged the water drainage, they tested the pipes, ensuring there was no water leaking and the water was flowing as designed. In addition, which was another testament of their understanding the client's needs and amazing work, was the fact they designed the concrete with lines that truly matched the lines of the existing slaps we have on the pathway. Absolutely amazing! They finished the entire project within 6 hours. Absolutely great experience and it was a great pleasure working with Berlin and his crew. The entire front yard looks great and unified. We deeply appreciate your work ethics and hard work. We look forward to continuing to another project soon. Thank You! read more

Picture Perfect Preciseness with Polite Punctuality We needed to build several retaining walls on our backyard slope to prevent erosion, and thus, arranged interviews with different contractors for this job. My wife and I appreciated Vindel's straightforward approach and honesty from our first project meeting with him. His project price was good, but our projected start date would be dependent on him first completing other ongoing projects. We were elated when he called to say he was ready to start earlier than expected if we wanted. Upon agreement to start the following Monday, communications were always texted and/or phoned in advance for the following day. This included the time for delivering construction materials and equipment, start time for his crew, and specific goals and tasks for each day. From start to finish, the crew always arrived on time and stayed on track, this despite two San Diego weather oddities in one week: 1) September Rain when we had to postpone a day because of slippery slopes, and 2) September Heat with 100+ degrees when work stopped at lunchtime for the safety of the crew. Vindel's communications with us and his crew were specific, and he was here each day making necessary arrangements to still complete the project on-time. - I had a large area of my yard that was very unsightly, a mixture of dirt, decomposed granite and a large boulder the size of a minivan that was taking up vital space on the side of my garage. I tried the do it yourself routine and rented a 65lbs jack hammer and a 15 cubic-yard roll off dumpster , I worked all weekend, managed to filled the dumpster with minimal progress and not to mention a aching back and very sore muscles. I Called VINDEL'S CONSTRUCTION: he was very prompt and scheduled an appointment the very same day: "wow, talk about prompt service". Berlin showed up personally to estimate my job and he beat several other competitors by large margins; we covered every detail including the ones I was unaware of like where the material should be stored during the duration of work. All of my questions were answered with a genuine integrity and openness. We were able to agree upon every aspect of my project including dirt removal, ground leveling, backfill material, barrier protection down to the supply of electricity. I was very impressed with Berlin and his crew daily progress and have submitted photos to illustrate the toughness of the job he performed with ease. I intend to hire him for expansion work including some pavers, concrete and siding work. Yes, I have found an honest, reliable, and true craftsman that I will call for all of my home beautification projects. read more

We decided to have the hillside behind our San Diego house improved by adding retaining walls and steps that would allow us to go up and down a very steep hill, as well as provide some levels so we could do more with the landscape than we had in the past. We read the reviews about Berlin Vindel and decided to get an estimate from him. Not only was he reasonable, considering all of the work we wanted done, but he and his team were extremely hard working and friendly. Our job was finished in less than three weeks! We were impressed with the outcome and showed our friends and neighbors the before and after pictures. All were amazed. Berlin and his team were true professionals. Honest and concerned about providing exactly what we wanted. He built 6 retaining walls and approximately 41 steps that are not only practical, but also attractive. This effort required removing a couple of walls that we had installed and replacing them with sturdy walls that I believe will last for years to come. A true professional, Berlin is friendly and easy to work with. When we explained we wanted a few more steps to reach the swale, he happily complied. I would recommend him to anyone who needs this type of work done. The finished product is more than I could have hoped. I have hired Berlin for many jobs throughout the years, and I have always been impressed with his work ethic and final product. He really goes the extra mile to make certain that the job is done right, and that I am happy with the results. He oversees all the major portions of the project personally, and his team seems very competent even when he is not around. I have never seen a worker slacking off, even when Berlin is not present. I have found Berlin's prices to be very fair. Once in awhile, he is not my cheapest option, but when I have gone with the cheaper contractor, I have found out that they have compromised quality, and often my vision for the project in order to give me the lowest bid. Berlin always delivers a quality product which reflects exactly what I asked for from the beginning. He is very honest, and I know now that when he gives me a price, it is the best value that I could ask for. I have had Berlin build 2 retaining walls and repair a 3rd. He has done numerous landscaping and paving projects around our property, and I have had him do interior and exterior painting as well. He has even done a custom outdoor fire pit and water feature for us. I have to say that I am still happy with each and every project he has done. read more

AVOID THIS VIDEL'S CONSTRUCTION! Berlin himself stated that he would be stopping by this Tuesday sometime from 11-2pm. This mean we had an appointment (I also had stuff to do). When I called to see if he was coming, all Berlin said is that I did not txt him my address (??). He eventually text me (no call) and said (And I quote): "Hi, You didn't text me your address. And because the holidays I don't have time anymore this week, perhaps next week. Thanks!" That is his excuse? That I did not text him the address? Berlin obviously did not care to follow up nor care that I made the time to be here. He did not want to do business. PERIOD Very umprofessinal. Do not hire this guy Berlin. He obviously cares only about making a buck instead of servicing his customers in a prompt and respectful manner. I'm not surprise he has some good reviews since anyone can write them, including fri nds and family or himself. AVOID THIS VIDEL'S CONSTRUCTION! There a many other CONSTRUCTION companies that will make their appointments and make customers important to them. read more

If I could give Berlin and his crew (whom he calls The Best in San Diego--and I agree) more than 5 stars, I would. From start to finish, Berlin and his crew's amazing attention to detail and commitment to doing high quality works shone throughout the large project we had for them. Berlin initially went over our plans with us, covering every detail, and asked us about aspects of the job we had not even thought about. He also had very good ideas (which we used!) about design and how to fix design problems. They started work every day at 7 and stayed until 4. Berlin went over each day's progress every day at the end of the day, and answered all our questions with patience and professionalism. We ended up with beautiful, perfect retaining walls in our front yard that exceeded our expectations. Lots of neighbors have stopped to inquire about contacting Vindel's Construction. Berlin Vindel's construction company has done such an outstanding job on our old home in La Mesa. It looks like a different lovely place. He and his team removed termite damaged beams, sealed some areas; power washed the house, garage, patio cover, window security guards, front & back fences; then primed & painted all. They dug out lots of bamboo, weeds, pruned massive shrubs hauling a large truck load to the dump. Then removed, replaced & painted 2 doors installing new hardware; trouble shooting a sliding glass door screen that now slides smooth; installed an out door light. Berlin & his team are always on time, careful with details, cheerful, considerate, hardworking, helpful, kind & professional. It has been easy having them around our home. Their prices are fair. After 3 weeks, we are having Berlin back right now doing some more small projects and will continue to hire him and his guys. Berlin and his wonderful, hard-working crew replaced our dilapidated old retaining wall with a beautiful new one in the backyard at the top of the canyon, and topped it off with a nice-looking fence. We are really jazzed! He listened carefully to exactly what we wanted, and delivered everything as promised, including taking care not to disturb the roots of our beautiful Aleppo pine which had wrapped themselves underneath the old wooden retaining wall. Berlin's business skills and practices, as well as his extensive experience, are exactly what you want in a contractor. We could not be more pleased, and all of this for a very reasonable price! Vindel's Construction will be back soon to replace the deck in front of the retaining wall. I had a very good experience with Berlin Vindel. His quote was very competitive, and clearly broke out the different aspects of the project. I had to go out of town for about a week in the middle and he sent me daily updates with pictures. We had a long cedar wood fence built on a graduating steep hill by Vindel's Construction the week of June 21st, 2016. They tore out a lot of brush, a dead bottle brush tree and gnarly cactus plus hauled it all away with total professionalism. The project was completed on time and on budget in approximately 4 days. The crew was very thorough and cleaned up the property upon finishing. Berlin Vindel is one of the best in the business to keep the lines of communication open making sure any needed adjustments were approved before moving forward. I got Berlin's name from someone at RCP while I was looking at stone options. Berlin was professional, courteous, helpful and was on time. Vindel's Construction replaced our old wood retaining wall with a 145 foot block retaining wall. The project took over a week to complete with the employees working diligently every day. Berlin Vindel did a great job estimating the project and because of his experience there were no surprises. In April of 2016, Berlin (Vindel's Construction) disassembled an existing terraced country manor retaining wall, Berlin rebuilt it, extending the width and length. In addition, he went the extra mile in relocating an existing electric outlet near the wall at no extra charge. Berlin has an accommodating, punctual and hardworking crew. The project began without any workable preconstruction plan developed by Leon Design & Build, and the supervisor arrived without the written layout plan I expected for a job of this size. The contract was never formally revised to reflect the changes that occurred during construction. Several parts of the project did not match the written scope, including the following: The fence height did not meet the contracted requirement at any point along the fence line, footing forms were not used as specified, and the gate work did not match the contract in size, materials, and finish. When I raised the issues and later requested a refund or credit, I received a partial settlement offer well below my already itemized fair demand, and it also included non-disclosure language I was not willing to accept. I am posting this so others have a factual account of my experience.

Shafiaq Khouli and his SK Concrete team built on our back yard a 14' x 14' SPA niche including a…read more12' x 12' x 5" reinforced concrete pad, foundation, drainage, three sides surrounding half high retaining walls and embedded SPA electrical wiring conduit. They also installed footing drain (French drain) on the back retaining wall, backfilled with the usual gravel, crushed stone and covered the outside of the walls with installed paneled stone veneer. They also did the initial former structure demolition, debris hauling and the requested earth moving and other necessary small retaining walls reassembly. It sounds like an easy simple job but, believe me, it got complicated quite soon. Along the construction way, I was able to interact with the crew and bounce ideas and corrections which were followed to my customer satisfaction, resulting in more than a very acceptable final product. When the inevitable, beyond his control, the one odd crew helper misbehavior occurred on the job, this contractor immediately corrected it, got on top of the problem and smoothly and quickly we had no more of an issue here. He also facilitated for me the customer to bring my own tile / stone wall-caps products and installer guys, which ended doing a beautiful job we're very proud of. Pricing fair, not inexpensive. Job done acceptable, with your own (the customer) continuous supervision and being able to stop working crew's irreparable mistakes before they happened, however, the final product came out well built and functional as we imagined and expected, we are grateful for that. Thanks again to Shafiaq and SK Concrete for accepting working on our small home project and for including us in their busy commercial and industrial schedule.
