I've taken all three of my cars here for their smogs, my 4Runner failed due to an exhaust leak and a catalytic converter that "didn't match the numbers of the DMVs website" I had the exhaust leak fixed by D&D, no issue there. Retested after the new exhaust, still failed. Took it to a shop that specializes in catalytic converters only for them to tell me and show me, that the catalytic converter on my 4Runner did match the DMVs website, took it to their smog guy and passed. I will not be coming back here again. I'm glad I got a second opinion and didn't spend an additional 2/300 dollars for a new catalytic converter (that I would not have needed)on top of the 150 I had spent for the exhaust and initial smog check. Get a second opinion or avoid coming here all together. read more

I recommend this smog check station due to their reasonable prices and prompt services. I recommended this place to my neighbor who called a place in La Habra where she had to make an appointment. I told her to drive down the street to D &D and she didn't need an appointment. She was hesitant at first but checked it out and was extremely happy with the service and price. No waiting and no hassle. No one likes smog testing except the State of California but D & D Automotive makes it as pleasant as possible. read more

They didn't help me and tried to bamboozle me out of $90 for just looking at my 74 VW bug because I brought it in after it wasn't starting when the battery wasn't an issue. When I asked if he had a safe lot, Jack, a mechanic said they had cameras but gave me attitude about taking my hubcaps home with me. He proceeded to angrily take them off while the chrome sides of them bounced and scratched on the floor. What gives? I ended up giving AAA a call to tow me out of here after I had to pretty much take my key back from Jack who seemed upset I didn't want him touching my car anymore. I wouldn't come here ever again or tell anybody to. Jack in particular is rude and not a hospitable guy whatsoever. read more

Horrible, horrible parking! I went for a smog check. There were too many parked cars and it was hard to get around. The guy was kinda rude. He didn't give me a wait time or anything. He also told me to keep a window open "in case we get locked out" Seriously? After he told me where to park, I did for like 30 seconds and left. I didn't feel comfortable there. Went out of my way to a better location. Definitely not coming back for smog or car repair. read more

My mechanic tried an tried but couldn't figure out how to fix my 1995 GMC Van that had an engine service light on. The GMC dealership misdiagnosed the problem entirely. I was at witts end. Then I found D & D. I felt that​ Sahed, the owner was very honest with me and save me money too. AND they were able to fix the problem, and in fact fixed another problem with the idle control that no mechanic for years was able to fix and I just learned to live with the problem. TL:DR Have another mechanic check their work. The basics might be overlooked. I've been going here for a few years now for both of my vehicles. You'll actually find a good review from me too. My last visit left a bad taste in my mouth. Had brakes done, along with several other maintenance fixes. Front brakes were squeaking and they told me the brakes on the back needed done too, along with the rear rotors (only the rear). So they did the work for a reasonable price amd sent me off. Not even 5,000 miles later, my front brakes start squeaking again. Took it to another shop to be safe and the front rotors were well beyond their minimum. The mechanic either didn't check them or didn't care enough to mention it. The brake pads were still not worn at all. Endangering my life and my son's life. I came in to bring this up and talked to the owner. With how dangerous this was, I felt the mechanic's labor is ALL in question, and asked for the labor to be refunded, not the parts. All he gave me was for the front axle brake job. I probably wasn't coming back anyways after this, but now it's official. Customer lost. read more

Went to D & D Automotive to replace Transmission. Sal the Manager wanted to keep the car for a couple of days to make sure that it actually was the Transmission that was giving me the issue; he test drove it the first day didn't see an issue so he kept it one more day, and that is when he could tell that the issue was the Transmission he gave me an estimate and in a few days got my car back and have not had an issue now for a week. I love how Sal wanted to make sure that it was truly the Transmission that needed to be replaced and he stuck pretty close to the estimate as well I will definitely go back and recommend. the employee tells me i passed the smog test but failed the visual inspection (after market parts). so i still get stuck with the bill, no pass, and he tells me i have a month to change the part or i forfeit my re-test All of this could have been avoided if he did the visual inspection first before testing it, and told me it wouldn't pass even if it clears smog thanks for nothing read more

Sal and Alonso were nice in the beginning and helped with a few issues with a car purchase and repair, but it is the customer service after you drive the car off the lot that means more to me. The average guy cant always find issues before buying a car and rely on their automotive expertise to check a car. I discovered various issues small and big after purchase. They did change a few bulbs with visor and gear shift for free(thanks). But, the gear shift wood plastic trim is cracked and the visors stay on. Also, unknown to me before buying the Volvo, the heater core was bypassed (easy to verify) which could have caused my son to crash as he could not see because the defroster not working (no heat). Alonso best excuse was that it was middle of summer when they got it and there was no need to check it for that point. Sal said he was going to get a Volvo expert to check the car but it was taking too long meanwhile the car is just sitting in the driveway. I found my own Volvo expert and had the heater repaired and the visors diconnected until its fixed. D & D repair and auto sales left me with a bad impression and I would not buy another vehicle from here or have a car repaired here as they appear not check the cars thoroughly before putting a car up for sale. I am very picky and I do have plenty of 5 stars reviews. I am generous to give this place a 3 star rating just for some help they provided and for trying. Moving forward, I am going elsewhere where we the customer are made to feel welcome and always right and not be engaged with a raised voice when we have an unresolved car issue after buying a car. It truly was a bad car buying experience from here but nevertheless, I wish them well. read more

NEVER taking my car here again!! Back in January my husband took our suburban for a SMOG only, when the mechanic took it to do the smog check, the mechanic was under the car, my husband asked him why he was under the car, he said there was a "leak" (no leak spills where found on our driveway before and after he came back home still to this day) my husband told him he would take it to his mechanic. Once smog was done and paid, my husband found a car piece inside his car so he took it back so they can put that piece back. Since taking the car there we've had SO many problems with the car, it turned off on my husband while driving, a few times. We had the battery checked by AAA and Autozone and battery was good. We had so many expenses like getting a two new batteries, alternator and having the car towed a couple of times. Finally we had an electrician take a look at it, he told us that the wires under the steering wheel were cut. This D & D smog was the last place my car got "serviced" after taking it there that is when all these problems started. I don't know if anyone elsde has experienced this or something similar after having their car service there but there is something truly shady about this place. Be careful, I would not recommend taking your car here NOT EVEN FOR A SIMPLE SMOG TEST. read more

I need to get my 1998 Toyota Camry a smog certificate and the last time I had to do it the car didn't pass. I was referred to D & D Automotive by a Toyota deanship mechanic and I was over the moon happy that my car passed the smog. I did notice a window sign advertising smog check for $39.00, I was charge $50.00 and like the other customer probably because I didn't bring in the DMV renewal notice, I didn't ask I was to excited the car passed. BEWARE! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I made the worst decision possible when I decided to take my 2015 Audi A3 to D and D for a leaking oil sensor. Nothing could of gone worse(keep reading). The repair itself seems to be okay for now, however, it was everything else they did to my car that really showed how unprofessional and uneducated Sal's mechanics are. First off, I go to pick up my car and it's parked on the main rode. My car is unlocked. Why would you ever leave any car unlocked that you are deemed responsible for because your the one fixing it??!? So my charger got stolen out of my car and that's all his mechanics or someone walking by can take because, I took everything else out of my car and thank god I did. My tags I just put on a few weeks ago look as if someone definitely tried taking it off! My car was at this guys lot for 3 days! Cmon! The greasy grimy mechanic who worked on my car also put a popsicle plastic wrapping in my cup holder UPSIDE DOWN AND ALL THE GRAPE JUICE DRIPPED INTO MY CUP HOLDER. My driver seat floor mat was also upside down when I picked my car up. Why? Who knows the reason for their stupidity, but now there's grease/oil on my actual carpet of my car on the driver side. If they left my rubber mat in place then this would've never happened. I also saw grease/oil on multiple spots on my car paint! Worst of all was a scratch right next to two big grease stains that was not on my car prior to mistakingly taking it here, so I know they made the scratch. I attached photos for proof. I was recommended to come here to have them check my brakes since I had never had that done since having my car. I received nothing but great customer service! I had D&D give my Nissan Versa an oil change, rotate the tires, and do a check on my brakes. Ultimately Sal diagnosed that my car needed new front brakes, transmission service, back brakes cleaned, and a new belt! I had them do the full work up since I will be driving my car on a road trip this weekend! It only took them 3 hours to get this work done! I see a lot of positive comments here but I'm not buying it. I've heard too many negative things from people who I guess don't want to post they're experience here. I was there one time and my car was left in worse shape than when I brought it in. The owner charge me for work he did not perform and four parts that he did not replace I brought my car back Furious and threatened to call the California automotive Bureau of repairs, and that's when the owner gave me my money back. If those reviews are legit, that I'm glad he's improved the quality of his service and above all his honesty. Personally I will never take any of my cars there again.
