I went in for my first smog check ever. My car had the check engine light on, the technician knew that because he checked my vehicle. They proceeded with the smog check knowing that it would not pass. I did not know this, because it was the first time I had ever gone in for a smog check. The smog did not pass and they still charged me. At the time, I was on hard times and I really needed that money. I cried and told them that they should give me my money back but they refused. Currently sitting in the lobby and much more comfortably than most times I've been in a mechanics waiting room. When he put my car on the raised table he brought me over, showed me the issues, showed me what it was supposed to look like and where the problem areas were. I'll be the first to tell you I'm not a car guy and downright bad at cars, him walking me through it, picking up the phone and speaking with me before I came in really makes a world of difference. I used to take my vehicles here for smog checks, now his prices are way higher than all the other places, and it seams like he looks for for piddly ass problems to fail you after it passes hydrocarbon test. The other reason is that corner is a used car lot now, trying to pull in and park is no bargain. You can't even get in the parking lot. There are much better places locally. read more

The best treatment of handicapped!! I needed my smog certificate and when I drove in the owner,Sal, must have noticed my walker in the back of my car. He told me I would not have to get out to wait while the test was preformed. I really appreciated that. I am in my 70s and while I can lift the walker in and out, after a couple of stops it gets cumbersome. He told me for any work needed they would pick up my car or take me home if I took it in. I took my 92' Mazda and it needed an the extra test done on top of the typical smog check visit, this extra testing is done to vehicles from 1995 and under and is require by the DMV. The technician went above and beyond in explaining the process. The owner himself inspected and made sure the process was smooth and swift. It's really hard to find a good automotive shop you can trust because everyone is trying to upsell and make money. I did not get the feeling with D&D. My parents have lived around the corner from here since I was a kid and I needed my AC fixed on my car. I recently took it to an AC Specialist who charged me a diagnosis fee (which is fine), but came back wanting to rewire my entire system and bypass something, which made no sense. My AC worked and it suddenly stopped. There was no need for serious surgery on my car. Since it has been extremely hot, I needed AC and since D&D was local I have them a try and I'm glad I did. Terrible place. Had a big sign in the window advertising smog check for $39'00. When they charged me $60.00 I inquired why so much? The big lazy guy stated "because I had to manually input you vin number. It took me 15 minutes". If it takes 15 minutes to input a string of 15 letters and numbers?? There is a problem. I was curious what others charged for smog in the area for my 2011 ford crown Victoria?? the average price was $40. This place is a ripoff. Don't trust these people with you car!! Got a bogus response from the owner who lied about the vin numbers. The car was owned by the Garden Grove police department prior to me and the actual title was submitted with the paperwork . Not only do they do the requested task, they go further and check other parts of the car and will notify you if they've found something wrong which you didn't notice.
