Be careful! They took advantage of my 85 year old father. All oil companies in the New London area are roughly between $3.50-$4.00 per gallon as of 02/05/2026. We have automatic deliveries set up as a lot of people do to fill the heating oil tank for market price per gallon, and leave the bill. DDLC decided to charge $6.00 ($5.999) per gallon without prior warning, about 50% higher than all of the other companies that deliver heating oil, and left the $1200+ bill that should've been roughly $700-800. They then refused to acknowledge the reason for the price hike nor work with us even a little. They offered $25. They said we weren't on any plan, and plans would've lowered it down to $3.89 a gallon. Is automatic delivery for market price not a plan? This is all news to me. Price gouging!!! With the current cold snap they charged $2 more per gallon than every other company. We were already locked in with a budget plan. I called other company's in the area and checked with co-workers. The current prices at other companies are $3.70, $3.64, $3.69, $3.12. HOP (dba DDLC Energy) charged us $5.75. Outrageous! I live in South Windham CT and I bought a brand new furnace between February and March 2024. Before they left they showed me how to use the new programmable thermostat, but didn't say anything about the actual furnace. I had turned off the thermostat for a while this year because we had been having uncharacteristically warm weather. I went to urn it back on as it cooled off and nothing happened. I have no idea of what to do with the actual furnace so I called and explained my situation. The service department refuses to come out (even for instructions) unless I pay them because it's just barely over ONE YEAR OLD! Absolutely horrible customer service. I did hang up by accident because I was trying to open the door of the furnace. ONE YEAR OLD furnace and they will not help unless they get money! Everything went well!! The people on the phone were excellent, professional and well trained. The techs were also professional and competent, friendly, explained what they were doing. Our house oil burner wouldn't shut off and no heat would come out . We finally got it off not with ease. No matter what button or switch we hit it wouldn't stop running. We called the 24 hr emergency service . Note we have a contract with them. When we called we had had to leave a mess because there was no one to speak to. They didn't contact us until the next day. When we aske why no one called she said it wasn't emergency. Possible carbon monoxide fumes getting into our house when it wouldn't shut off is not considered an emergency then what is. They charge more for oil because they say they are a full service oil company'. where's the service? We switched away from them for our propane stove already after they charged a travel fee for a cleaning. Will not renew with them. read more

Alan came and installed our replacement gas fireplace log set. He was polite and professional. Our old log set was removed and the new one put in with all mess contained. He went over everything, checked everything and left us with a cozy fire on a raw day. I have had my issues with DDLC, but this experience was flawless. read more

DDLC Energy - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - New London, Connecticut

Hired this company on a friend's recommendation. Needed an oil tank replaced. WELL they replaced it and after we paid they sent us a letter telling us we needed it inspected by the town. Now the town tells us the installation doesn't meet current codes. Before replacing tank make sure tank placement and pipes meet today's codes. Luckily they say any corrections will be done at no cost to us. Company came and did all the paperwork to get us a state variance and we have now passed our town inspection. read more

Mr. Dixon was competent, courteous, friendly and informal without being unprofessional. It is always so nice to feel one is speaking to a human being, not a machine or someone bored with their job. This company is trash. My son was a customer of Groton Oil which has merged with this company. Since the merge the service sucks and I'm being charged more than double the price that Groton Oil was charging for service. Each time I call they have my son's information wrong, even after stating they'll update it. Each time I call I have to update information that I've already given them 3 times before. Each time I call they say they cant help me and transfer me to a new person and I have to go through the same process of updating information and convincing them that my son was already a customer. I was told they would call before they came. Never got a call but they say the service was conducted after midnight. Customer service sucks. Never using this company again read more

Same as the previous reviews. I'm very upset at this company and regret ever using them. VERY DECEITFUL AND DISHONEST COMPANY. Stay far away from them. I just found them making a third delivery after I had called to complain about the drastic price increase 3 deliveries ago and never got the call back I had requested! All at an outrageous price and totaling over $1200. I will update my review if they fix this issue or I will assure to make my voice heard further if this doesn't get resolved. We renewed our contract and were told for 2 yrs in a row now our oil would be $2.59 a gallon! Again this year they are charging us well over $3 and refuse to fix the issue! We will be ending our service with them and not recommending any one else to use it ever again! read more

I been a propane customer for 5 years. I complained to ddlc that their website dont even mention that they sell propane. I emailed them and said why is propane not on website no more. I got a response say , she will contact marketing dept and tell them issue. What a joke. They sell propane but nothing on website says propane. Says home heating oil only. read more

This review may help some customers learn from it but it will not be about a "Good local business " This Co. is terrible in the customer service dept . We , my mother and I had this Co. DDLC come out and put a whole new heating/cooling system in for nearly $ 9000.00 I was calling today to ask to set up a time for someone to come and service/clean this new unit we bought from them and I got a women on their business phone line that said she was a supervisor , and was nothing but rude and totally unprofessional to me in my opinion . At the time of install a few years back , it is now 8/19 , the account was in my mothers name and I didn't think anything of it at the time we have never needed to have DDLC come out for anything before today . My Mom passed away and I did not realize THE ACC. was in just my Mom's name we were at the same address we both owned the house . So after telling this supervisor person on the phone several times why I was calling she kept saying she couldn't do anything on this acc . with anyone but my Mother even thought I had explained to her my mom had passed away . I just needed to have this unit that we bought from them and paid for in full at the time it was installed, serviced . She then informed me that she would not bill a dead person, my mother , and again said I had to open a new and different account before I could talk to or have anything set up with DDLC . Mind you I never asked or said or tried to get her to bill a dead person , my mother , for this service call and I resent the fact that she even implied I wanted to have her bill a dead person, my mother . I just wanted this unit serviced and I just wanted to pay for it ........ she continued to tell me I could not do this and she was forcing me to open an account that I did not want or I was not going to be allowed to talk to anyone about the problem . She then proceeded to hang the phone up saying she wasn't going to waste her time talking to me ............. Very nice job supervisor person whoever you are I'm sure your a great asset to this Co. and they will be happy to know you single handedly lost another customer for them ! read more

I was completely unaware that my oil delivery/furnace cleaning company was bought out by this group. With the furnace cleaning, I was told my oil tank needed to be replaced, and altho it didn't leak, I knew it was at least 35 years old. Apparently DDLC or HOP Energy, whatever name they go by, subcontracts the oil tank installer. I was contacted by email by someone at "Residential Services", "Service Station Equipment Inc", "Irish Springs Pool Water" or "McKinney Mobile Mix", take your pick, who told me she was my "contact person". After I realized I had problems, suddenly she was just a worker for the installer, not who I had a contract with, so....on my own, I guess. 1-The furnace couldn't be turned on until oil was delivered after the new tank was installed. 2-When oil was delivered, the delivery person refused to turn my furnace on. Fortunately, I figured it out myself (it had been changed, so not the way it was previously turned on) 3-The contract offered an interest-free payment system (it hadn't been mentioned & I hadn't asked for it). Later, after receiving the first month's payment coupon, I got a letter saying there were some dings on my credit rating, so pay up now. 4-The intake pipe leaks. Because I'm disabled, I asked for a text prior to anyone coming to fix the leak. Didn't happen. I was in the shower, the worker(s) maybe came in to the basement & maybe did or didn't fix the leak. I don't know, because even tho I hurried, he/she/they were gone by the time I hurriedly got out of the shower 10 minutes later. Basically, this was a job that became a cluster f*ck of different businesses, the right hand not knowing what the left is doing, but none are doing a very good job. I was a customer of Brodeur Oil Service for decades. Unfortunately they've been bought out by an arrogant bunch of grifters and scammers. Run away from any company listed under any of the names listed: DDLC Energy HOP Energy Service Station Equipment Inc, possibly also Residential Services Irish Spring Pool Water McKinney Mobile Mix and unfortunately, Brodeur Oil Service Inc. They've bought out other oil companies in central-eastern and south eastern CT and western RI. read more

I was previously on an auto fill program with DDLC Energy but the contract had ran out. DDLC sent me a contract to sign to renew the auto fill of my oil barrel, however I was not interested on being on auto fill so i just threw it away. DDLC than called me and said that it would be forty dollars to renew the contract with them and the price of the oil would be higher. When they sent me another contract I again threw it away since I was not going to pay to renew my contract with them. When I arrived home one afternoon in January I noticed that DDLC was at my home and was filling my oil barrel. I asked him why he was filling up my oil barrel. He stated that DDLC had sent him out to fill my barrel by this time he had already finished filling my oil barrel and had put 63 gallons into my barrel. The bill for this is $291.58. I spoke with a lady on the phone from DDLC and told her that her that I wanted them to return to pump out what they had put in and she said that they couldn't do that. I explained to them that I primarily burn wood and had no need to be on an auto fill program, since I don't use that much oil. I also told the lady that it would be better to call before they deliver since I wouldn't be in need of fuel oil very often. Other oil oil companies are charging about $2.84 a gallon, DDLC charged me $4.599 a gallon all because I did not sign a contract with them. I told them I did not want this fuel that they had put into my oil barrel. read more

I use their COD oil service DollarWise, so when my furnace stopped working, I called them for service. Their phone rep was friendly and helpful and was able to get me a technician that afternoon. The technician was experienced and friendly and got my heat running again quickly. However, their pricing is outrageous. They charged $330 for a controller that runs $76-$129 online, in addition to $100 labor, and installed it before informing me of the cost. I expect some markup for the cost of having inventory in the field, etc but $250 markup is insane. read more

I ordered an oil deliver from DDLC on a recommendation from my friend Jim. His father is a deliver driver for the company so I signed up for auto delivery. I have been a customer since January 2014. I believe to be a good customer as I have a good size house 3500 SQ feet to heat with only oil heat. On January 2nd they delivered 160 gallons of oil. I looked at the bill and noticed DDLC charged $3.50 a gallon. I called Norwich Discount, bumblebee, Benvinuti's and they all were $1.00 a gallon less. I called DDLC and spoke to a woman named, lets say, Jan#$t. She told me that i had a contract that ended on January 15th. Keep in mind the day they delivered was the 2nd; only 13 days until my contract expired. Another fact is that my tank holds over 300 gallons; over 1/2 a tank left. They delivered 150 gallons, charged me $3.50 and the woman acted like I was the crazy one. She kept stating that I have a contract price. I didn't know I was on a fixed price. There was no penalty if i wanted to end the contract either. They took advantage of me. Filled when they didn't have to just to make a extra buck before they contract was over. Stay away from DDLC. I've been a DDLC auto fill customer for 5 years with no major issues. Recently they let my oil tank run out which got my attention. On the same day that I received a bill from DDLC I received a similar delivery at another location. DDLC charged $4 per gallon ($3.999) the same day that my other delivery was $2.59. When I called they said "you were paying retail so we'll need to get you on a contract to get a better rate." I had no contract with the other (very reputable) oil company. Shame on me for not looking closer but basically DDLC was over charging me for 5 years. I am typically a very loyal customer and probably too trusting. I will never use DDLC again and I would strongly suggest you don't either. It is as close to a scam as I've seen, but again, shame on me for not paying attention. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! They are liars. You lock into an oil price and they promise you that if the price of oil is lower you will get the lower price. It's simply not true. If your cap is $2.55 that is what you will always pay regardless of the current price of oil. (other companies really do give you the lower price, not DDLC!!) They will also insist on filling your tank every 3-4 week regardless if you ask them to wait. You call and say, " I have 3/4 of a tank please don't come", they tell you your in breach of their contract and they threaten you will another ridiculous fee on top of their prices. Crooks! Don't trust them and don't sign any contracts. read more
