in anacortes for the weekend and there was not much open past 10 pm for dinner on sunday. lo and behold, de asian was open until midnight on fridays and saturdays! menu is quite extensive. it is a fusion restaurant for thai and japanese but there were also some korean and chinese options too. for two people, we got the orca roll, eggplant katsu, pork katsu donburi and tonkatsu ramen. it was phenomenal. the orca roll blew me out of the park and i thought the ramen was done very well for a non specialty ramen shop. katsu donburi was the only thing i wouldn't get again because i found it rice heavy. the onion sauce was flavorful and something unique service was super fast and food was out a little after 10 minutes from when we ordered. interior is beautiful and next time, i would sit at the bar. read more

We had a delicious sushi meal tonight. The service was outstanding, and the food was fresh and so well prepared. My family loves sushi, and we drove from Bellingham to celebrate a special occasion. My mom joined us, and though she is not a sushi fan, she had no problem finding a dish to her liking and was equally impressed. We arrived early before they got busy, which may be key. The atmosphere is a nice balance that is clean and classy, but still warm and welcoming to families. Everything was perfect; we will return. read more

If you're vegan you can piece together a solid meal here. Basic, filling, but nothing to wow you. The fresh roll was plain, but the peanut sauce helped, as it was loaded with fresh peanuts to add some extra crunch. I should have asked for more of the sauce because that little cup emptied quickly. The veggie roll was on the small side but it got the job done. I doubt I would eat here again, but the cocktails are tasty so next time I would just order a drink here and beg to be taken to nearby Cosmic Veggies for real sustenance. read more

This is our default restaurant when people are visiting from out of town. Something for everybody. The vegan options are OK; they don't really stand out, but they make up for it with awesome staff and service. Also it's pretty inside and within walking distance to all sorts of cool businesses. read more

Ambiance is lovely, servers were great. Food came out really fast. But... I've had better sushi at grocery store. The sushi was warm, and the rice was sticky. Pad thai was sweet, fishy and spicy. Our server didn't ask for a 1-5 spice preference. We had to send it back... our server wasn't happy. It feels terrible to waste food. But the thai iced tea and gyozas were great. The side salad was delicious. My strawberry mocktail was somehow overly sweet AND sour. I added a bunch of water and it was still too strong. The strawberry and orange garnish were appreciated for freshness. Overall, the cardinal rule is to be wary of a restaurant with a huge menu, because it's better to have a few items that are fantastic than a ton of items that are average. We appreciate you De Asian! It's so lovely to have sushi in Anacortes. Just hoping for a little more freshness. read more

First thing to note is that a reservation isn't required, but not a bad idea. We arrived and three parties were waiting, they sat one party then came back and asked how many were in our group - we told them we had a reservation and they took right away. The restaurant is family friendly, the service was good and worth going out of your way for the food. We went for sushi and were constantly eyeing every plate that went by - each was ornate and tempting. We started with tempura appetizer of veggies and shrimp, it was very good and plentiful. We next ordered a couple of their rolls and they were fantastic. I wish I could give 4 1/2 stars. The only issue was ordering a beer and they brought my wife's wine, but not my beer. After a couple of minutes another service person came up and I asked about my beer. A few minutes went by and our waiter brought a roll and I asked him about my beer. A couple of minutes later he came back with my drink, then a third person brought one over... I understand the place was busy, but... Ending on a good note - we would go back. My daughter and I were spending a fun day in Anacortes recently, and were craving some sushi. De Asian popped up on Yelp so we hurried on over for some yumminess. And they did not disappoint! I really liked that their menu included all sorts of Asian delights - not just sushi, and not just Japanese food, but Thai and Chinese food too. We ended up with sushi and pad see ew, because...why not?! I really liked the 80s-style vibe of this place, too. It was really cute and fresh. The service was incredibly friendly and fast, and the food was phenomenal. I especially loved the hamachi sashimi appetizer with jalapenos. So spicy and delicious. My daughter enjoyed her nigiri, too, and we both liked the pad see ew. I'll definitely be adding this to my Anacortes rotation! read more

We both ordered Bibimbap with brown rice instead of white, and a well done egg instead of sunny side up. I asked for veggies in place of beef, but my husband sub'd for steamed tofu in his. That's probably the most customization I've done for Bibimbap, and they cheerfully accepted every change. (In fact, they were the ones that asked my husband if he wanted the tofu fried or steamed, which he appreciated since most just give fried without a choice, and he does usually prefer steamed.) While some of the ingredients (partly due to our changes) differed from traditional Korean Bibimbap, we both enjoyed our food, and would happily get them again. My husband was so thrilled to get brown rice with his, he said it was the best Bibimbap he'd ever had outside of Korea. I was very impressed by the extremely friendly and helpful service here. When we ordered, they'd just opened (noon), so it took a bit of time to get our food (about 15 minutes). In a later takeout meal, my husband got Golden Noodles with steamed tofu (no egg). It had a somewhat sweet curry sauce, with extra wide (2"?) noodles. Veggies included broccoli, green beans, and carrots, two pieces of bell pepper, and a few, small onion pieces. He had no complaints - tasty, good veg selection, with well-cooked noodles covered with just enough sauce. It also included a small side salad. Food was ready at the time predicted when ordering. They have a very, very extensive menu, so if we'd have had time, there were probably many more meals we could have enjoyed. All in all, excellent experiences. read more

Once again had a fabulous meal. Our favorite is the sashimi sampler and the small feeds us both. It had amazing salmon and yellowtail, if you like very large pieces of sashimi this is the place. They were both excellent! They always have escolar which is often referred to as white tuna, not sure what guys here, I like it, not a favorite though. We always get the spicy tuna roll as our choice of roll and it is always full of tuna and just the right amount of spice. The radish and shiso leaves are always fresh. We eat it all and love the leaves! We also had the hit lady roll, it is the best with the sliced jalapeño on top and a dollop of spice! The star is friendly and fast paced. It is not quiet and with the bar butting up to the end of the shushi bard it can be tight, I don't like sitting on that end at all. Go and enjoy you won't be disappointed. read more

Holy Discoveries, Batman! I popped in here after missing a ferry. I had a hankering for sushi, so I sat at the sushi bar and ordered precisely that. The fish I had was so fresh that it was practically still swimming, and the cuts were generous. Friendly sushi chef Art made it clear that freshness is paramount here, and he also kept my orders coming at a perfect pace. As I completed each small plate, he followed it immediately with the next, while insisting that there was no rush whatsoever. (I was unusually hungry, and had told him that as I sat down). The salmon carpaccio appetizer with truffle oil and lemon was a delight, as was the incredible big-eye tuna sashimi from Hawaii. Presentation was lovely on every dish, and each tasted even better than it looked. All of the servers were cheery and attentive. I had dropped in early, and as the dinner hour arrived, De Asian became quite busy. This on a Monday evening, so clearly, the local folk in Anacortes know they have a gem here. For Asian Fusion fans who live in bigger cities, I think you'll find the quality and pricing worthy of a day trip. Special recognition: when I'm eating alone, I've experienced some restaurants where servers are inattentive to single diners. De Asian is not one of them. Foods are good had the yakisoba with chicken 3 spicy level. First time I had any spicy yakisoba generally it's a sweet flavor sauce. Nothing thrilling about it. The sushi rolls are good the ingredients are fresh and assembled to order. The table service was excellent. I've been invited three times by friends to this restaurant for dinner and had lunch there one by myself. The service last night was very slow as they were under staffed and our party was large. My food has always been underwhelming albeit not "bad". I've just never left feeling like I got value for the money. Portions are small and to me very average in quality and flavor. The sushi that friends ordered looked really good so if that's your thing I think you'll be happier. And our server was very nice, he was just swamped and couldn't keep up. I would rate this restaurant 2 stars for the decor and the kindness of the staff. Otherwise, I ,unfortunately, would have rated this as 1 star. My husband and I went in for dinner and were seated right away. We ordered a ramen bowl each and a volcano roll to split. Upon asking for a drink menu we were given a very dirty, sticky menu and it seemed as if it were the only drink menu they had for the entire restaurant because it was being passed from table to table. It seems relevant to mention that the menu also included the dessert selection, so you weren't able to look at it for very long before it was needed for another table. When it was collected from us, we weren't even asked if we would like to order anything from it. All of our dishes came out at separate times to the extent that my husband's food ended up being cold by the time mine came out of the kitchen. On top of that, his ramen bowl had little to no broth in it. That said, the flavor of both our ramen was very good. Our sushi roll came out after we had both finished eating, and there was a hair sticking out of it. We asked our server if we could please take it off the bill, and he very willingly did. While waiting for our check to arrive we noticed that the water glasses we had been drinking from were dirty on the inside. The server who came to take the glasses from the table said that the cups weren't actually dirty, but that it was "scuffing" from the fact that the dishwasher "doesn't work very well because it isn't properly calibrated." New Location is nice! Way too long for service, they need more wait staff and the food doesn't come to the table fir everyone at the same time! My wife waited 10 minutes for her dish, we had to ask twice for the rice that was supposed to accompany the dish. Jalapeño Yellow Tail was great! Eggplant (dish) was undercooked and tough to chew, onions were basically raw, meat was so overcooked and DRY, it was inedible! Very busy, ask questions to make sure you get what you want! read more

Was looking so hard for ramen that wasn't far away. Glad to have this restaurant in the area! Will come again.

Late evening supper; so nice that a handful of restaurants are open past 7:00. This one is very nice and the food is delicious. The cold foods were cold and the hot were hot. That is not always the case it seems. Started with cocktails; I had a Mojito and my friend a Cosmopolitan. After our meal we shared a nice Scotch which was actually very good. For starters we chose Miso Soup and we chose a Deep Fried Prawn Sushi and a California Roll. The Soup and Sushi were both nicely presented and flavorful. We waited to order our entrees until our appetizers were served; it seems that anymore meals are delivered with each course rushing the one before. That had been my experience at DeAsian the only other time I had dined with them. This time we were able to enjoy each course before the next arrived. I ordered the Basil Fried Rice with Prawns , 2 star and my friend enjoyed the Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken 2 1/2 star. He felt the dish was a bit skimpy on Chicken but my dish had an ample serving of prawns, cooked to perfection. The basil and onions were fresh and aromatic and the combination was a 4 star dish. The acoustics in this rather new local restaurant are better than they were previously with the addition of some carpets but it still could use more bamboo dividers between the bar and the dining room and perhaps more subdued lighting. Our servers were prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. Our orders however were served in two stages; my Sushi, the second Sushi came 3 or 4 minutes later and the same with our entrees. All in all my opinion is that the restaurant could use some fine tuning but all in all it is nice to have another choice for 8:00 dining in Anacortes. read more
