The food is good but not worth the price. Too expensive for teriyaki and especially the chicken katsu

We found this hidden gem by chance. The exterior is deceiving. We almost turned around until we noticed the nearly full parking lot. The interior ambiance was a pleasant surprise. Soft lighting, calming music, open dining area, and family style tables. It felt very Tuscany. Counter seating included built in hooks for a purse. Additional seating available outdoors. A wide range of teriyaki and sushi options. We ordered a beef bento and teriyaki chicken. Portions are generous and flavorful. Each meal is served with a single sauce. There is a nominal fee for extra sauce. Beverages are canned or bottled. A water dispenser is located next to the beverage cooler. Food is automatically served in take out containers. Hand sanitizer is located at the front counter. A restroom is available for dine in customers. Ample free parking. read more

Ordered a sweet n' sour meal plus crab Rangoon for takeout. We normally eat here when in town but this is our last time. The food quality has gone way down! The crab rangoon were so burned we couldn't even eat them. Waste of $9 and our time. Paid $5.99 extra to have fried rice with the chicken and the rice didn't seem fried at all. Seemed like they just added frozen carrots and peas to their steamed rice. Should have stuck with the regular steamed rice and saved another extra $6. $15 of our money was wasted. One meal plus an order of 5 burnt Rangoon was $39! read more

Staff was nice and the food was quick. The parking lot was not the best and this is clearly an old Taco Bell which made me laugh. Food was pretty good. My only complaint is that they couldn't sell me a side of grilled vegetables. read more

Walked in at 4pm. Ordered a chicken and beef combo. Chicken was super dry, definitely left over from lunch time and reheated. Beef was ok but tasted like they sprayed liquid smoke all over it, made it taste artificial. On top of it, the rice was dry and hard too. They obviously don't have pride in their food. You can't sell old dry chicken from lunch and dry hard rice. Throw away the old stuff, don't reuse it. If you cooked the rice with too little water, recook it. You can't serve it to paying customers. read more

I've done two previous reviews on this Tokyo Stop. The first was total praise, the second noted the food quality wasn't up to par and maybe it helped. Went there last evening and am happy to note that the food quality is back up to normal, very good. But like all eateries these days the prices are really taking a beating, almost too expensive to eat out anymore. The one thing that was obvious aside from the higher prices is the amount of food, especially the proteins served. It can be taken we are paying twice, higher price and getting less. It's okay to charge me more but don't give me less. read more

AMAZING is an understatement! I know every time I order from this place, it'll be delicious compared to every other place in town being hit or miss. I've never had a bad experience and I've been so many times I can't even count. The workers are always nice & courteous. The way they decorated on the inside is so cute. This little place is a nice quaint and quiet little place for dinner. I almost missed it as it is tucked away. The décor is very cool, walked in and it just felt relaxed and calm. With that in mind I decided to have dinner there instead of to-go. The young lady at the counter taking the order was very friendly, she made sure the sushi chef knew not to put any cucumbers in my sushi roll as I am allergic to them. I found a little table, listened to a dad and his son just rave about their meal, and how full they were getting. I didn't even open my soda to take a sip yet and my sushi was ready and looked great. Next, my Teriyaki Beef with fried rice showed up! Thought it looked a little skimpy for the fried rice but didn't realize there was way more under the beef. Everything was great, loved the the flavor of everything I ordered. Price wasn't that bad a swell considering this is a busy area for tourists. Absolute rip off for the price, $20 for a beef and pork and the portions are small. Small amounts of meat and rice, flecks of an iceberg lettuce salad. my meal was given to me immediately like it was sitting there for a while. Go down the street to DH buffet and actually get a proper meal for $20. Will never go back to Tokyo Stop after this. read more

I ordered ramen with beef and kimchi. First the ramen was store bought bag noodles with just cooked beef and the kimchi was horrible. My friend had a katsu chicken and it was horrible tasted fake and had a lot of discoloration, rice was undercooked. read more

Wasn't expecting a pretty good teriyaki spot in Oak Harbor. Came here on a whim and was not disappointed. The prices are a little higher but the bento option was perfect for my wife and I to split. They have an indoor seating option as well as an outdoor seating option in the back that was really cool. All the food tasted well and the only one item I wasn't as much of a fan of was the salad. If you are looking for teriyaki on Whidbey I would say to stop here. read more

Was craving teriyaki chicken and didn't want a server style resturant. This place serves everything in 'to go' boxes but we sat down and ate there since we were staying in a hotel. There was a nice amount of food. The taste was yummy but wish there was a little more teriyaki sauce on them. I was excited thinking the little container provided was teriyaki but it was soy sauce I think. The cost wasn't cheap as I think our meal was $12.99 and $14.99. I use to have a 5 star review of this restaurant because it was excellent and fairly priced. Have to change that now. Went to order delivery via doordash and a single beef teriyaki is 18.49 now. It used to be 12.95 and 10.99 for pork, which now is 16.00. I can understand the slight increase that happened when all the meat processing shut down in the pandemic, but that is overwith, there is no shortage. I can get dinner for two delivered from McDonalds for what dinner for what one single order from here is now and our local mcdonalds is paying over 16 an hour now for new employees. Sorry Tokyo Stop you lost my business after 12 years of loyalty. read more

This place has good reviews so we thought we would try it. The food was good as far as Teriyaki goes. We all tried the lunch specials that were $8.25. We all got our fill and left some food on the plate. The chicken katsu was with chicken teriyaki. When I ordered I didn't realize that. Extra food on my plate for no more money is always a good thing. The soda machine was watering the drinks down. They didn't taste over carbonated just diluted. The .25 cent refill charge bugged me. We didn't refill because it wasn't good. If you are looking for fancy dining this isn't your place. It's the common Teriyaki dive joint that sells fried food for a decent price. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. I called in my order for pick up, Teriyaki Beef w/fried rice. 1st-they used to charge $3 for fried rice, now they charge $5.99. (ridiculous). 2nd-they charge $.50 for a little cup of teriyaki sauce. 3rd-they charge $.08 for a reusable bag. Their bags are the cheapie plastic bags and not reusable. I asked them to put the "lettuce", in a separate container, and they charged $.50 for that. All in all, I'll never go back to Tokyo Stop. Their food quality has gone down and their personal service is non existent and their need to "nickel and dime" their customers is reprehensible. They made my order at a reasonable time. While I was waiting I was enjoying the ambiance of the store. The inside looks different from the outside. There's also a drive thru, where you can pick up your order if you've called in so you wouldn't have to get out of the car. The food was good and my family enjoyed it. The chicken teriyaki was good and not too salty or too sweet. We also got the beef short ribs. It was very tasty and soft, not tough and was easy to chew. I usually get the spicy chicken teriyaki. The portions are big, and the prices are reasonable. For me, I get about 3-meals out of one order. I also get the gyozas which are filling, yummy, and crunchy. Staff there are always kind and polite. Love that you can call-in your order and use their little drive-thru to pick it up. read more

They stopped their "combo" menu, they no longer have the choice for two different entrées w/ rice. It's just one entrée w/ rice. I don't see their reasoning for that, they get enough business I'm sure. I absolutely love their food, although their prices have gone up pretty significantly. For just a plate of Katsu, and a side of Gyoza is already $25. So for two people, be prepared to be spending around $50-60. read more

SOOOO GOOD! This food is great and always consistent. The teriyaki sauce is great, and oddly that's hard to find. Not too sweet, not too salty, not too sticky, but also not too runny... it's just right! The chicken is juicy and tender and always cooked to perfection, plus the portions are large (it's just as great leftover!), so it's a great value for the price.
