I have been getting tattooed by Uriel Leon for years and have remained a loyal client, even following him from his previous studio in Hollywood to his current location. I recently scheduled a follow-up appointment with him for a touch-up. As the appointment date approached, the time was changed without any explanation, which was already inconvenient because I had taken the day off work specifically for this appointment. I then drove 58 miles--over an hour--to the studio to see Uriel specifically. When I arrived, I was informed by the employees that he was not there due to an emergency. I completely understand that emergencies happen, and that was not the issue. What was disappointing was the lack of communication and follow-up afterward. One of the employees was kind enough to perform the touch-up for me, which I appreciated, but it was not the experience I had scheduled or driven there for. I made the trip specifically to have the work done by Uriel. Even after the appointment, I received no follow-up message or apology. As someone who has supported Uriel's work for years and has remained a loyal client through his move from Hollywood to his new studio, I found the lack of communication and consideration extremely disappointing. I've received two tattoos already from Leila and she is amazing! She actually did mine and my sister's very first tattoos which we got together. It was an amazing first experience, especially since this tattoo was very meaningful for us. I knew after my first tattoo with Leila, I wanted another one from her. So, a couple months later I booked another appointment with her. Again, another amazing experience. I don't write many reviews but I felt inclined to write one about Uriel and De La Luz tattoo. Lets start with the tattoo shop - it is unlike any other that I have been to. There is something special about this place. It has a very inviting, calm and serene vibe. You can tell that the owner put a lot of thought/effort into it and took his time when designed the shop. Everything from the layout, to the art, to the guest area, the plants, it all was so well designed. Although I am sure he is proud of what he has done, when you meet the owner you know he did this for his clients. He created an atmosphere that makes sitting for an 8 tattoo enjoyable. The experience. To Uriel he was not just tattooing some random person, he was working on me as an individual. He took his time to get to know me. He is genuinely interested in me as a person, my story, my struggles, whats going on in my life AND he is very open and honest about his life and his story as well. While he connects to you as a person, he incorporates that into his work and your time there. It really adds a level of comfort that I doubt you will find elsewhere. Now for the tattoos...well, I will start by saying I am very glad that I have my sessions scheduled before he is THE NAME in the tattoo industry. In my opinion, his work is the best. My opinion aside, no one can deny that his work is in arguments for the best out. He truly takes pride in his art and making sure you receive the best tattoo possible...if you want a tattoo, something that will (in theory) remain on your body for the remainder of your life, you want it to be the best work possible, you will get that with him. You WILL get the tattoo you deserve. I plan on getting at least a few more tattoos and I know that I will go no where else. read more
