A vibe and then some! De La Playa Records is a cool trendy casual lavish den record shop and home goods spot with a cool collection of beverages, music, plants, snacks and all sorts of cool finds. Their broad assortment of records from past to present as well as compact discs (aka CDs) will keep you grooving the entire time as well as what is spinning from their speakers. I've been seeing them pop up as a suggestion for months so made a point to plan a cool stroll through and check everything out in this newer Highland Park hidden gem. When we walked in off 56th from Figueroa Street the vinyl was vinyling throughout "Ride or Die" by Durand Jones & The Indications sparked something truly great as this is a band my boyfriend and I are big fans of. And he's absolutely "my ride or die, baby!" Cooler enough (even though we had plans for the following day) Aaron Frazer of The Indications was here the day after!! De La Playa has been hosting some crazy cool events this past year with vendors and a N/A bar on their patio on weekends. From those block esque parties to film appreciation nights, De La P is clearly the place to be. The craft beverages are quite unique offering alcohol free varieties in the form of mocktails, juices, teas, wines, mixers, you name it. I definitely got some cool things to go. I absolutely wanted to buy some cool plants, but literally didn't plan ahead for them, so making a point to for next time. Aside from green potted friends, music must, smooth sippables, candles, knick-knacks, and keepsakes, D.L.P. has some great shirts, totes and merch as well with their cool designs. Everything is reasonably priced or at a great value. Parking is metered with street and/or a paid lot just behind/next to it. You can get lucky with some residential parking on 56th, but also not always the easiest to grab. Lots of public transportation in the area including the Metro E Goldline, LADot Dash and LA Metro city busses. Easy walkable sidewalks as well in every directions. Loved the service and the people working here. They were discussing future events and such, but ready in a pinch to help us out and ring us up. We'll be spinning back in very soon.

6 out of 5. I just found this review by Nick M - and I could not have said it better myself:…read more Nearly impossible to say enough good things about Jen, Oscar, and Rewind Audio! Not only do they consistently have an amazing inventory of diverse, unique, high-quality vintage hifi components (speakers, amps, turntables, cassette decks, etc), but they are also extremely knowledgable, kind, and earnest people who value their customers deeply, and strive to deliver the best possible gear and customer service. Their energy and passion is infectious! Aside from being great people - they offer very fair and competitive pricing on all of their equipment and you can be certain that everything in stock has been inspected, tested, and held to the highest standard - which makes the value nearly priceless. A rare gem in LA! A 'must visit' for vintage audio nerds.

The party host had a bartender, set up a food and appetizer station near a retro camper. Add some party decorations and it was such a cool place to rent space from! Definitely considering a rental for a future party here and also, to go back and buy some records which were reasonably priced.

The selection is great and the guy working the shop that day was nice. The "venue" itself is so quaint and perfect for an intimate show. The bartender was also friendly and made a great gin and tonic. There are two restrooms in the venue. Both are single restrooms but are very clean. There is plenty of street parking. But it is street parking only.

The place is split up into sections - the first includes the bar (with two bathrooms it should be noted!) There's bar seating but there's also booth seating on the side. And then there's ample room for what looks to be if any musicans want to perform so that was pretty cool. You make your way outside to a outside patio of sorts and then you can go down to see the record store and maybe an occassional food vendor if you're there on the right there. Its pretty sick! The drink menu is cut and dry but I'm not one to complain too much. The service was great and I loved the music they were playing. Huge bonus that because its such a hidden gem the parking is really not an issue (at least when I went). If I'm in the area again I'd come back!
