An incredible collection of records I'd never seen at other shops, and talking to Kevin was such a delight.

I've barely begun to dip my toe into deep appreciation of physical music mediums, and accompanied my wife here on her birthday search for a few specific vinyls and CDs. My search was narrow, hoping for a Odesza vinyl. I found two vinyls from the A Moment Apart album I was in search for with one being a used copy in a deep sea foam color while the other was a clear vinyl. Because I knew nothing about vinyls, I went to the front desk where Kelly took the time to show me how; 1) properly remove vinyls from their sleeve, 2) the direction to clean vinyls using a microfiber cloth, 3) check downs to go through when inspecting a used vinyl, and 4) in why's behind inspecting vinyls the way she recommended. In taking the time to show me how to check 3 separate clearance vinyls, I felt even more stoked about my Odesza used vinyl find as it was fun colored vinyl not yet in our collection and in beautiful condition. Kelly - thank you for not being a gatekeeper. You rock!

It's located right across the street from the Metro B Line, so take the transit for super convenience! Walking in, there is security staff that's there that will do a bag check. They also do this when you're leaving the store. The store itself is a nice warehouse of everything you're looking for: music, movies, and merchandise like t-shirts, buttons, even some CD players (not top of the line, but they have them!). Everything is organized at this location - with lots of staff on the floor, restocking and organizing the racks. They have a good selection of everything, but also they don't have everything. I didn't find what I was looking for at my last visit, but it was still nice to browse through the store. They also seem to carry a lot of brand new CDs here. Amoeba's a cool shop if you've never been to one before. It's one of the remaining larger physical music shops left that have tons of music CDs, records, and other awesomeness.

Inside you'll find vintage books, used & new vinyl, CDs, cassettes, DVDs, and more! They'll also buy from you too. Buying hours are from 1 - 6 pm daily. Every nook & cranny is packed with memorabilia, yet everything is well organized. You can spend hours here searching for that hidden treasure. Don't worry, the staff are friendly and will happily guide you in the right direction. They also host monthly events such as Mystery Movie Night and special sales like Vinyl Happy Hour. Thankfully, Counterpoint records and books exist as a bastion of all that was right before things took a turn for..whatever they are now. The place is packed full of gems, including many 1st editions and out of print wonders which cannot be found elsewhere. Every time I go, I discover something new. There is a constant flow. The selection is clearly curated and intentional. It's not a traditional used bookstore. The shelves are not packed to the gills haphazardly. The books and records are neatly organized and they seem to avoid duplicate copies of anything. This is a bookstore and record shop for people that love beautiful things. I encourage you to visit.

What a huge selection of new and used vinyl, CDs, and cassettes! I found some titles I had been looking for recently. Yeah, I could have ordered them from somewhere online, but I want to support local shops because it helps keep the community going. There was such a large selection of genres, many that were new to me. I love being able to browse physical music again. I have found that slowing down and listening intentionally makes me appreciate the artists more. I keep hearing new things in songs that I have missed before. The next time I am in the area I will stop in again.

Although the store website advertises premiums on previous offers, nearly any in store visit for me has proved unsuccessful in deals, as the offers I've received on premium collectibles have been nearly 10X less than what their value is. Today I took the Hollywood store a bunch of sealed collectibles, including Funko Pops, Sealed Action Figures, a few pre-owned video games, and hoped maybe this time around, they'd do a bit of research and give genuine sensible offers. In figures both retailing, and reselling above $35 right now, I was offered $3.50 for, and $1 per Funko. It's safe to say I packed up my things and walked away, having wasted time, gas, and meter parking on the street, again. The store needs genuine love and care. Every employee that has previously seen my collections and sent it to the owner for a valuation has seen the value in the items, and felt the same disappointment that I have with each offer made. It's a nice store, nice location, cool items throughout if you feel like digging through categorized disorganized items. Unfortunately, the owner is more concerned about profit than passion.

Steve at Atomic sold me a Fugazi record that was listed as "near mint," but was VG at best. Surface wear on album and ring wear on album cover. The guys at Freakbeat Records (Sherman Oaks) jump through hoops when they incorrectly grade a record, but Steve was reluctant to do anything when I spoke to him on the phone. Not sure if he was just distracted while grading, but a monkey could have done a better grading job than Steve did on this one. Methinks Steve might be suffering from a "holier than thou" attitude. He even mentioned while I was speaking with him that he was dealing with another person trying to return a record? Not a great sign. Again, in person shopping? Go for it. Avoid their eBay listings. My feedback is flawless and I'm not a scammer. Rick, take heed and keep your eye on Steve. I won't be coming back.
