We really enjoyed our 1-night stay in this beautiful historic Inn. Lovely gardens in the front and back. Nice living room with fireplace and dining room with coffee and tea for guests in the 8 rooms to share. We were in the Sommerset Suite, which had a comfy bed, high ceilings, and real wood-burning fireplace. It was a chilly, rainy weekend, so we lit a fire, and enjoyed some wine. As some guests mentioned, there is no front desk or person present. You get a text and code to enter the house and your room, but all went smoothly. Wow!! Loved this cozy inn. Here's the rundown. My boyfriend and I drove to SB for a comedy show and not wanting to spend $700 for some of the other hotels in downtown Santa Barbara we found this adorable inn. We booked and I believe my boyfriend paid a little less than $300 for our room. We arrived early and we enjoyed a drink on the patio since check in was at 3 pm. There is NO lobbyist or reception at this inn all communication is via text so if you are not at all tech savvy this place might not be for you. Our room was perfect for a night. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean with fresh towels and complimentary shampoo and hygiene products. I really appreciated the wine left out for the guest to enjoy. What the owner is saying in response is NOT true, as my review is very accurate, pictures don't lie. And the fact is that she took way too long to respond. Everyone should read other reviews besides the 5 stars reviews always to understand what you're paying for, the owner is hoping you'll disregard the other post, but if you read them they all have the same complaint. Delightful, charming B&B, especially if you like a "do it yourself" experience. No staff. Check in is virtual and, like a scavenger hunt, each step begets the next to get in, get your key and get into your room. Charming, cozy and clean. Fireplace was a hit and the bed was very comfortable. Would have been a 5-star if they'd have a bit more hospitality in the snacks / beverages area. Communal dining area has a Keurig coffee machine, apples, oatmeal packets and microwave popcorn. We had a phenomenal wedding at De La Vina Inn with our close family! We had been here a couple times prior to check out the area and loved it every single time. The house is absolutely perfect. The Victorian style fit in so well we our small wedding. I couldn't have imagined or planned a better spot. The back yard was perfect to set up a few tables for dinner and we had just enough room to do our first dance and for everyone to dance a little. There are so many cute spots throughout the house with vintage mirror and decor that are perfect for your special day! Each room is well decorated and comfortable. We staid two nights for our wedding with our family. We will definitely be returning to celebrate our one year anniversary in the penthouse and many time prior to that as well. Terrible service, no manager/owner onsite, in our bookings (Airbnb) it says not to clean and we are guests, one day into the stay the maid/ housekeeper got mad at all the guests for leaving their dishes when the owner told us to. Everyday after we have had to clean the place ourselves! The walls are thin and you can hear people having sex especially if your in a room beside or below them! Trash pickup comes twice a week and is super loud and jarring at 7am! The manager doesn't listen to feedback and always goes "we have over 500 reviews and they don't see anything wrong", that's not the attitude someone in hospitality should have. One morning I was awaken at 4am by a broken sprinkler that was jet streaming my door( outdoor patio entrance) as soon as I opened the door I was soaked and the owner was like there's nothing we can do try to go back to sleep. Also there's only 5 parking spots and there are 8 rooms, park anywhere else and you run the risk of being towed! The owner also gives people secret rates, so don't go by the quoted price, try to barter bc she gave some people deep discounts and others paid full price, and the room are all the same. A week after my stay the owner text me and was like can you sell me some eggs, and I was like I checked out a week ago! She didn't even know who she was texting! If you want a stress free and relaxing stay, this is not the place! read more

My cousins and I had a great weekend staying at De La Vina Inn. We rented out the main house where we had use of a kitchen, 6 bedrooms, living room, dining room and the backyard. It's such a cute place! The kitchen was decently stocked with pots, pans, utensils and dinnerware. If you need something specific to cook with though you should probably bring it just in case. The place is clean, the beds were comfortable. They provide plenty of paper towels, hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray for our use. At night we hung out in the backyard and the string lights gives the place such a charming feel. It's only a couple blocks away from State Street and a short drive to the beach. This is an Airbnb host, my reservation was made incorrectly. I called within 5 minutes of making an erroneous reservation and wanted to change the dates. She refused to call me back until last minute. She took the $200 reservation fee even though I had no use for the reservation. I was only refunded a $61 cleaning fee. I would consider myself somewhat well traveled. I prefer quaint bed and breakfast inns to hotels. De La Vina is a magical gem . When I rolled up in my uber I let out a little gasp. The tree in front of the property greeted me . Hanging lights adorned the tree and a fountain gurgled in the background. My excitement mounted as I climbed the stairs. I read that this is the perfect place for travelers that are alone and I see why. The Inn is not full of antiques as one would expect . Instead it had the right balance of modern meets vintage . The doors to the rooms are solid wooden doors with little metal signs of the names of the rooms. My room was perfect size and the bed was so comfy . It even had a pillow that said Thankful. I wandered the house and found a perfectly arranged kitchen where I could make a cup of tea, etc. My favorite spot was in the front bay window that had cushions . The backyard and front porch are also inviting. . Even though they do not have a front desk I could easily text and they respond quickly. What do I love about this place? Well the location is perfect as it is a block or two from State street. It is quiet and whoever owns it pays attention to details. I appreciate that. Would I stay there again? Absolutely! It was also reasonably priced . If you are the type of person that likes to be waited on hand and foot then maybe it's not the place for you . We generally enjoyed our stay here. We've done a lot of B&B in Santa Barbara, and this place is up there. The inn is beautiful (cracks, etc. come with old buildings and is part of the charm), quiet and in a great location. There were some issues but the owner was quick to respond. With this price, it'd be complete if they offered breakfast for a full B&B experience. Otherwise, the other patrons were pleasant, the bed was firm and good, and the rooms clean and quiet. Had an amazing stay at the Inn. We "bought out" the entire Inn for a corporate retreat. We were are group of 8. Thus, the Inn was an ideal spot for us with 8 individual rooms. Each room had a its own bathroom. It was also and ideal spot for our retreat during the Covid pandemic. Plenty of outdoor space in the "backyard" of the Inn. Were were able to comfortable spread out both outside and inside for our business portion and social portion of our retreat. Since we had the entire Inn booked, we were able to take full advantage of the kitchen, BBQ, and the fire pit. Everything was impeccably clean at the Inn. Seline went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best it could be. Both before the stay and during the stay. I highly recommend checking out the Inn while in Santa Barbara. We arrived early 3:45pm and our room was not ready...so we waited in the living room (the maid let us in)...and at 4pm entered our small, king size bedroom on the second floor. We turned on the air conditioner and waited for the cold air and waited and waited...............no cold air! There is no one at the Inn to help. you have to call, text, email.....we did and got no response. The hot sun (temp 84 degrees) was beating down on the window, we were very uncomfortable/sweating....we waited over an hour for a response to our constant emails/ texts etc. Finally we texted that we were leaving to find another hotel/Inn.....they then told us if we stayed in this sweltering room they would give us a smaller room the next night with a queen bed and 10% off of the over $270 a night they were charging. Are they kidding? we thought. Finally (one hour and a half later) they called and told us they found another place for us to move to and would refund our money and that they had heard from the former customer that was in this room that the air conditioner was not working properly....So they knew?!!! but thought they could get away with it!...... It was a very nice place we have stayed in a few times before..The Upham. A few blocks away. So we repacked...(So much fun! Not!) and moved ..to a lovely room with great air conditioning and a very nice and ample continental breakfast AND wine in the afternoon...........Fully staffed! Over $100 more then we had paid at De La Vina. We waited for our refund.......one day, two days......my husband was ready to call our credit card company........and then our refund was issued the third day. Needless to say, what if there was an emergency? If someone needed help immediately...would you have to wait over an hour and a half for some to response at De La Vina? Your choice. Caveat Emptor! The Windsor room at De La Vina is so quaint and beautiful, as is the whole Inn. We had such a romantic weekend there for Valentine's Day and Seline made it extra special by giving us champagne and chocolates - such a nice touch! The bed was comfy, linens were nice, and the towels were fluffy. De La Vina is so well located, you can walk to all the restaurants, shops, and bars really easily. This is the best place I have stayed in all of Santa Barbara we loved it so much we stayed another night even called in to work! We were visiting from San luis Obispo area just for a one day get away in the darcy suite became 2 amazing days there best time! We will definitely come back great amenities! Absolutely loved this place. I needed ice and when I texted the host asking where the I've was, they had someone bring some out writing 10 min. It has a cute little backyard to hang out and have a drink at. The Victorian sole home feels very much like a home, as opposed to a conventional hotel. They had complimentary popcorn, tea and coffee. I recently visited Santa Barbara to visit my daughter at UCSB. I decided to find a place near famous State Street and found De La Vina Inn. I don't travel often and I have only stayed in an AirB&B a few times, so I was concerned how this would work. Well, everything worked out perfectly! The owner and management team made it easy with their instructions via email and text reminders. I stayed in two areas; the penthouse and the cottage. The penthouse was off-the-charts! There is a large living room, amazing bedroom opening to a roof-top deck (love it), a small kitchenette and a very spacious bathroom with a shower stall and tub. The Penthouse is super sexy/romantic...a great place for a couples retreat! The cottage (the one facing the backyard) was also very nice, but completely different. It has a view of the garden, small deck outside the room and a walk-in shower for two. Besides the Inn, the location is amazing! It's literally only a few blocks (3-5 minute walk) to the best part of State Street. Everything is there; restaurants, performing art theaters, shops, coffee houses, everything.
