I was in portland over the weekend and we had already done some of the wineries that are located on…read morethe main strip so we decided to venture off the beaten path to visit some actually wineries instead of just the tasting rooms. And I am so glad we did. First let me talk about the drive. It was a beautiful sunny day and getting to Styring involves taking the road less traveled. Beautiful fields of green, rolling hills, and these wonderful little paths that make you feel like you are going on a mini adventure instead of just wine tasting. No fears about getting lost becsuse that is what GPS is for. There are some other wineries that you will drive past on your way here so you can very easily make an afternoon of it. Once we final did arrive we drove up the long driveway and we're greater by the owners. I looked back and could see this beautiful view with the sun in the background. So quiet and peaceful out there. The owners are a married couple who are just as charming as can be. They took us inside so we could start tasting some of the wines. I can take you blow by blow through each of the wines but I prefer to give you the highlights. First I really like all of the wines. Secondly they treated us to kind of a tour of "this is how wine is made" showing off the equipment and all. While we tasted wine their daughter showed up and started playing music which help set thr tone as we sampled a combination o whites and reds. We ended the visit on the deck, talking about their plans for expansion and drinking a few glasses of wine while staring off into the green fields. Overall it was a great stop on our trip and I certainly encourage people to get off the main strip and explore this winery and the ones located in the hills around it.

We arrived for our 12 pm appointment only to find out that not only did she forget to hit finalize on the reservation but our charcuterie board wasn't ordered. Luckily, Matt, our gracious wine pourer or his official title, Lead Hospitality Ambassador, was able to accommodate our misssteps. We had a fantastic wine time sipping on all of varietals and I brought home a syrah. I Highly recommend if you want more than just Pinots in your next tasting adventure, stop by here.

But this time they were closing early for a wedding and doing all the prep for that while trying to serve customers. The poor staff serving the wine tastings were frazzled from being pulled in multiple directions. We had to wait a long time before being served and longer in between pours. I would suggest that next time you host an event like that you close earlier or shut down for the day. It was not a pleasant experience for customers and it appeared the wedding party arrived early too and they would have had more space to relax and enjoy their special day if there were no customers around. But again... I usually have an excellent experience! Wine selection is amazing!! The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. And the setting and ambience amazing! They have fun events throughout the year. You must go Halloween weekend and get a Taro reading! We had so much fun last year. And they have great deals on wines. I suggest going just not on a day they are closing early for an event.

As the producer says, we can all use a little more Perspective. Indeed, we can! Brad, the producer, met us outside and pointed out the rest of the Ribbon Ridge area, then turned us over to the Dundee Hill and explained the types of grape over there. Then all it took was a ring of the bell and boom: we were inside the fragrant tasting room filled with wine barrels where, as Brad says, wine has been spilled all over the floor. Brad sat us at the bar and walked us through all he had to offer. The wines we tried were fabulous. A blanc and rosé, which he only makes a couple hundred cases a year of. We left with case filled with 3/5 wines we tried, including 3 bottles of vintage Perspective. As if the amazing quality of his wines wasn't an easy enough sell, the man himself is so friendly and down to earth. Don't pass this one up, but be sure to call first as it's by appointment only!

My friends and I had a fantastic time in the Willamette Valley, and it was very much thanks to Ken!…read moreKen had everything planned out for our two-day wine-tasting tour. We wanted to see a lot, so we had a very ambitious weekend of four wineries Saturday and four more on Sunday. It was perfect for our group who wanted to spend the majority of our time tasting (when we weren't tasting, we were eating at the local restaurants). Ken also had some excellent recommendations for our dinners! Ken was so helpful in organizing everything ahead of time. All we had to do was show up! The wineries he picked for us were a great mix of different types of facilities so we were able to get a wide range of experiences. It was also helpful that Ken knew so many of our hosts at each place. Tamara also spent the first half of our day on Sunday with us, and she is absolutely lovely! These two make a wonderful team, and we even got to meet one of their daughters who was working at one of the wineries we visited. They are such a warm, welcoming family with a great love for history and the valley, and it all shines through their business. I can't speak highly enough of our weekend in Oregon with Wine History Tours. I will absolutely reach out to Ken next time I'm out in that area. Which, now that I've been once, I imagine will be sooner rather than later.
