All the RV spots are pull through so no fighting with your spouse on backing up your camper. - haha. It was nice to have a pool (although they should really extend their hours and stay open later-8pm pool close is too early when the sun is still cooking. Now for the not so good- where to start :( The staff was never around when folks seemed to need them- I always saw people looking for someone who worked there. The women's bathroom was just unreal how gross it was. I truly think the only thing the staff did daily was empty the trash and refill toilet paper and one of the two paper towel dispensers. Never once cleaned or attempted to clean any of the three showers, sinks or toilet's. The little store they have closed nightly at 7, sometimes sooner. Which really wasn't convenient if you wanted a treat after dinner like an ice cream or adult beverage. You really have to plan ahead. We just went to town, but would have rather supported the camp ground and stayed there. Overall - this could be an AMAZING place. Just needs more staff, and a little more TLC- We would go back if we heard of improvements.

This is not a remote campsite . Bottom line you want to be close to Main Street and downtown this is the place for you . If you are a full timer who pays to stay in town for the WiFi this is not for you

Our tent faced Arches National Park, and waking up to those views each morning was unforgettable. We stayed in an accessible tent, which was spacious, comfortable, and had convenient parking right next to it. The tent was a little warm at bedtime, but it cooled down nicely as the night went on. The amenities were wonderful. We loved grilling dinner, making complimentary s'mores every evening, and enjoying fresh coffee each morning. The staff was incredibly kind and always happy to provide us with ice or a cooler whenever we needed one. The nightly activities made our stay even more special. We enjoyed the bookmark-making activity, and the "Star-bathing Meditation" with Monika the most peaceful experience. We spent an hour lying on a rock, meditating under an incredible sky full of stars. It was so relaxing, and Monika made the experience unforgettable. We also spent hours stargazing from the hammocks. The night sky at Under Canvas Moab is absolutely breathtaking. The views are unlike anything we've ever experienced, and we would absolutely stay here again. I highly recommend Under Canvas Moab to anyone visiting the area!

The noise from the 191 is loud, incessant and unbearable. From the winding road, the tents are less…read morethan 1/5 mile from the highway, so in fact they are even closer. For Under Canvas to choose this location and then not to to disclose how loud - and constant- the traffic noise is... is disingenuous at best. The industrial level earplugs they leave at your bedside indicate their awareness of the problem, but you can even hear the traffic through those - though it is muted - and the noise ruins just sitting outside in nature and looking at the stars. Imagine being on a motel off the freeway with the windows open the entire time, and you get the picture. For them to charge the prices they do for this location is literally highway robbery... and you are practically right over the highway. So much for peace and quiet around the campfire at night -- the free s'mores cannot undo the damage to the ambiance of having cars and semi trucks constantly screaming by. Such a disappointment.

The woman at the desk was very polite but informed me since I paid for both nights in advance, she couldn't refund me the one night. It's honestly not about the money, it's that i was already an emotional wreck and it was just the cherry on top. The only facility I used was the washers. $2 was the advertised price so I put in the quarters and it kept asking me for more. I was pleasantly surprised the dryer ran longer than advertised. My site was not level and although my dog enjoyed touching grass his last day on earth, I kept waiting for someone to complain. The price was high for a highway view but it is what it is. And no, I will never come back.

They're also the perfect amount of comfort for those who plan to spend most of their time doing adventures in the spectacular surroundings of Arches and Canyonland. Horseshoe Bend is park's most iconic scene, a drone would be wonderful here, which is allowed from Nov to Feb, when there is less animals and humans. The name: the legend had it that cowboys in the 19th century, used this area as their natural corral, where horses often died of exposure. We head to the Dead Horse Point Overlook directly, which is 3.4 miles away. We allotted an hour here, includes picnic. Many chipmunks are dancing around us, perhaps hoping for some? The bright & sharp blues are solar evaporation ponds for a mine owned by Intrepid Potash, Inc., which is founded in 2000, traded as ipi on NYSE ($34.29 on July 21, 2025). Potash is potassim chloride. Before leaving, we drop by the Info Center. The fully shaded verrandar has a great view.

One camper nearby claimed that she saw a mountain lion earlier that day (8/31/17). Reservations are available online, but note that 4 sites are non-reservable. I reckon that's how Frank M. scored a site even when the sign said "campground full." AMENITIES - back-in and pull-through RV sites each with tent pads - RV electrical hookups - shaded concrete pad with built-in metal picnic table - fire rings & charcoal grills - flush toilets (no showers, though - NOTE: they truck all the water in) - pets allowed - open year round When we were there, another campground was being built. It's slated to open this fall (2017). TIPS - research places to refill your RV's water tanks if you're traveling on - there are no refill stations, only dump station - yurts are also nearby to rent - visitor's center & "Pony Expresso Coffee Shop" are close by LNT - Leave No Trace. Now, it was a partially due to a storm that caused a power outage, and I know this isn't the KOA's fault whatsoever, but the way things were handled were terrible and communication was very poor. They simply didn't care or try to do anything to make the stay a better experience. We spent two days in the heat with no pool access, no power to our campsite, and they only texted about an activity on Saturday that would have cost us $45 for our 3 kids to color on some t shirts. They let us know Saturday that the pool was probably going to remain closed for the rest of our visit, which was the main reason we stayed here. And somehow they could accept payment for the t shirt activity but they couldn't sell us some propane from the office. Definitely looking at other options for RV parks in Moab for the future.

Due to a water main break at Arches National Park we had to search for a new place to camp while…read morenear Moab, UT hiking and vactioning. Horsethief Campground is run by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Their mission is "To sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations." I did copy their mission from their website, FYI. Horsethief caught our eye online immediately. Though it did not have any running water offered, it was open during the winter. It also had toilets on site, which was a win for us. We decided to drive to Horsetheif and check it out. They offer both campsites and RV sites, but with no hook ups. All sites are first come, first serve. Which was also fine with us, because again, we were planning on camping during the winter, during a time when they had just had a good amount of snowfall. I was told that it was an unseasonable amount for that area at this time. As we drove we made note of how close the campground was to both Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park. We were planning on visiting both parks, so this seemed ideal. When we pulled in, (and do not blink, you can easily miss the entrance), we knew we found our campground. It was breath taking. The area was spectacular. It was covered with pristine snow and had Pinyon trees all around. It was like we were the only people there, we felt so secluded and protected. We picked tent site 25 and it could not have been more perfect. When we stay at Horsethief again we will aim to get the same site. It was close enough to the bathroom and yet hidden. I fell in love with our site and that campground in the short time we were there. The cost is $20 per night for tent sites and you need to bring exact cash. You simply put your cash in the provided envelopes and drop it in the drop box. When we visited there were no pens/pencils, and we did not travel with any, but I hope they know that we were the ones that paid. Please if you stay a night at Horsethief, please pay your fee, the money goes directly to the BLM and that is how they support taking care of their land. It was magnificent and I can not wait to return.
