Alright, as much as I tried to like this place I was disappointed. When we walked in the door on a Saturday afternoon. The minute we entering we heard someone behind the counter yell "Dad, the counter".. we saw an older gentlemen come to the register and he wasn't very pleasant at all, he acted annoyed we were there. After ordering we still received attitude from him as he asked if I needed room for cream in my coffee and I didn't hear him and he says it as he looks at me like I'm an idiot. We paid and went on our way. I must say the coffee was pretty good and they keep your cold Coffee cold by using coffee ice cubes which is rare. I came here with a friend after we got done walking around by the river and visiting some shops. It was the perfect place to relax, and we immediately had a table even though there were a lot of people in the cafe. We both got tea, and it was excellent and had a cute spoon rest/tea bag rest that was leaf shaped. The food options sounded delicious, but we did not get them. I would love to visit again! The only thing I would say is that the hours are hard when you work an 8-5 Monday through Friday yourself. However, you can always go on Saturday! read more

This is the first place I bought a cup of coffee when I moved to the Quad Cities and now I can't imagine getting through a workday without it. Deat Poet's serves really good coffee - that's all there is to it. Every coffee drink they make is tasty and provides that much needed mid-day jolt I've come to rely on. The coffee selection is nothing out of the ordinary, but that's fine. You've got your lattes, mochas, and other frilly things, along with your always hot and fresh brewed coffees. They also have a few non-coffee drinks, but I tend to leave those alone, because honestly, who would go for non-coffee when there is coffee at the ready? But I digress. There is one downside to this place. It's a bit pricey. A big mocha or something equivalent will run you close to $5. Usually it's worth it, but it's something to think about. read more

Heard from a nearby shop keeper at WaterHouse shops that the iced tea and food was amazing here. We both ended up getting iced coffee and it was rich and strong! Best part-ice cubes were frozen coffee so as they melted the drink never got watery! Brilliant! We also got a pound of Highland Grogg. Great experience! read more

Glad I found this comfortable corner cafe. Great self roasted coffee, good wifi, nice comfortable vibe, a grand piano, books of poetry, and Shakespeare on the sign. How can you go wrong? I didn't eat anything but the dishes that I saw looked great, and the employees were awesome. If I'm back in Moline, I'll be back. read more

This was the worst latte I've ever had and made by the unfriendliest barista I've ever encountered. The coffee was so scalding hot that it just tasted burnt. The 'barista' acted as if I was imposing on him for coming into the establishment. I love to support local, independent coffee houses but this one definitely needs some work. read more

Very impressed by this place. Was visiting Moline on business and stopped in for my coffee fix. First impression: Cozy interior, friendly staff, and quick service. Grabbed my latte to go and I knocked it off a ledge outside almost immediately. IMaps needs to get its act together...this charming place is on the next street south from River (not River as they insist) nestled in a cozy and clean alleyway. They have a wonderful Chickering piano which the proud owner plays during lunch hour, and the food is terrific. read more

As someone who's invested in English literature, I decided I had to stop in and try out a dead poet-themed coffee shop. Here's what happened: Our barista was pretty rude, but I chalked that up to The Barista Aesthetic, or the air of dismissiveness that some coffee shop employees seem to express toward their coffee-ignorant customers. Though mildly intimidated by the variety of caffeinated beverages, I settled on an iced coffee. My drink was prepared quickly and chilled with COFFEE ICE CUBES, which, at the time, was the first I'd ever had them. Brilliant! The shop, itself, was a cozy and tranquil spot ideal for studying or soft conversation. I seated myself next to a large group of senior citizens and (accidentally) overheard them ridiculing America's youth for their rampant use of social media. Delicious coffee, a portrait of a stoic Emily Dickinson, AND the promise of dirty looks from a gang of aggressively opinionated elders! My time at Dead Poet Espresso really exceeded expectations. 4/5 stars. read more

Very good coffee (I got a white chocolate mocha) and good food as well. The chicken salad was great, and their potato soup was pretty good. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because it was a little expensive. A large mocha and a half sandwich and soup combo came to over $13. That doesn't include the pastry I got after. read more
