As locals one of our favorite restaurants is the Deadwood Grille located inside The Lodge at Deadwood hotel and casino complex. The atmosphere is elegant and comfortable. Right now it is open on Friday and Saturday evenings. If you plan to dine later in the evening be sure to call for a reservation. It gets busy during the summer tourist season. Last night I ordered the carbonara with the wedge salad. Nice presentation to both. Big portion which could be shared. Carbonara sauce is rich and loaded with bacon pancetta peppers peas etc. Just one note to ask your server about the egg served on top. I didn't want that option. My husband had the 6 oz filet. Always excellent with mashed garlic potatoes and veggies. New wine menu too! We usually save room for dessert but not last night. Their cheesecake or bread pudding are our favorites. Next time! We are staying at the Deadwood Lodge for a convention so we wanted someplace nice to eat for Valentine's Day. The Deadwood Grille is usually only open for the weekend, but because of the Valentine's holiday they were open. We were expecting the place to be packed, but because of the blowing snowstorm all day, most of the reservations had been cancelled. Our waitress was very attentive as we made some changes to our entrees. The cold food came out cold and the hot food hot! Everything tasted delicious and I had leftovers for lunch the next day. Considering the available options in Sturgis,Deadwood, and Spearfish this place is pretty good. My husband and I ate here several times during our visit, due to them having offerings, such as, fresh wild salmon that is high grade enough to select temperature cooking preference. Their halibut and shrimp are also fresh not frozen. This place offers aged ribeye steaks, which my husband was happy about. He also ordered a sirloin that was decent. The aged ribeye was the better of the two. I ordered the salmon dinner and halibut dinner on different occasions, both were excellent dishes and the fish was great, perfectly cooked. The have a pretty Solid Caesar salad, as well. Shrimp Caesar was a great lunch option. The wedge salad is a good option, as well. We ordered a few desserts, bread pudding, mousse, and creme brûlée. The bread pudding was pretty good. The mousse was a basic mousse, but good. The creme brûlée left a bit to be desired. The few apps we order were crab dip, it was just okay. We also ordered the marrow board, the marrow was good. The prosciutto on the board was not the best quality, but we've had it in Italy and Spain in comparison. All in all, it's a good spot, especially considering the other options. The ambience is nice dim lit, but casual. The wait staff was nice. Went here for my birthday, they offer a free meal and dessert for birthdays too. The food was so delicious. I got the salmon with pea risotto and my friend got the seafood risotto. She had scallops, crab, and shrimp. The shrimp was so flavorful!! I couldve eaten a bowl of it. We also got the brie appetizer, which was also mouth watering. After getting the shrimp in my meal, I wouldve got the bacon shrimp appetizer, just because of the flavor of the shrimp. It was like melt in your mouth. We also got the Carmel brownie dessert. From the moment we walked in for our reservation, we were treated with the utmost care, as those on here have noted. Katie, our waitress, was an absolute doll- she gave drink suggestions and my drink was amazing. She joked that the special touch was the cherry she put in it, and constantly made us laugh. The ribeye was unreal, as well as the crab dip. A group of 12 came in and Katie moved to push their table together along with other employees, only for the group to leave five minutes later. She and the staff handled it with grace, showing just how much of rockstars they are! I wish we had more time here so we could go eat with Katie again! Deadwood grille is the more formal half of Oggie's a Sports bar & grill. Only open for dinner, they have a completely different menu. Mostly steaks and seafood are part of a compact menu that has a little bit of everything. The restaurant is elegant and is 1/2 booths, 1/2 tables. Food was excellent, service was slow and our server kept forgetting refills and other requests. The wine list was short as were the availability of wines by the glass. We ate there tonight. The fettuccine appeared to have been sitting under the warmer for some length of time. It was pasty. The prosciutto was thick, lumps of chewy something. It was unrecognizable as a food product. This was recommended by our server. The expectation of course is a creamy pasta dish not a congealed lump of starch. My husband had the filet which was rubbery with a lot of fat. Neither of us were able to eat more than a few bites. What a find! It had been a long day of relatively frustrating commercial air travel followed by the same amount of business I had scheduled packed into two hours less - thanks for nothing, UAL! - when I finally rolled into an 8pm dinner. This is one nicely appointed and comfortable restaurant. I was hoping for a quiet dining room and that was exactly what I got even though they were more than half full. Very friendly staff also. I started with the buffalo tamales. They flavor was excellent and I especially liked the variety of accompaniments in the bowl. There were more possible flavor combinations to try than I expected and that lead to a great dish overall. The only drawback is that I am used to a tamale which is a little bit more moist but I would not call the masa dry by any stretch. Next up was the tomato and mozzarella salad. A delicious combination of a couple of different kinds of tomatoes topped with fresh (not like grocery store fresh - really soft and fresh) mozzarella, a thickened balsamic, and basil. In addition, there were some mixed greens underneath which turned it into a real salad. The bread arrived at the same time and it was a fantastic herb-dusted loaf which was also delicious. I asked the waitress for her assessment of the most popular dishes and was told they were the ribeye and the macadamia crusted halibut. I opted for the halibut after reading the description because I was more in the mood for fish. I'm sure the ribeye would have been great as well but the fish was unique and delicious...so much so that I took a picture of it and posted it on facebook! Tender and moist with a great flavor, sitting atop a citrus-wine sauce with roasted sesame seed - yum! Sadly, I was too full for dessert so I left $50 lighter in the wallet but exceptionally happy. Forgot to mention - the "personality" from a TV show I had to google (Full Throttle Saloon) was sitting two tables away from me. I am from Ohio and was in town visiting family. On Saturday April 6, 2019 @ 4:30 pm while we were patronizing the casino, I stopped in to the Hostess stand in between Oggie's and Deadwood Grille to try and make dinner reservations for that evening. I was the only one from Ohio the rest of my family live in the Black Hills. I was greeted by two ladies (one was 40-50 the other was younger). I asked for a table for 12-14 people to celebrate my parents anniversary. At that time the older hostess looked at me with complete astonishment and asked "Are you serious"? I said yes, she continued to look at me in dis-belief (like it was a joke) then said "Well it's prom night". The entire conversation continued to focus on that "it was prom night" and I should know that. I explained that I was from out of town and was un-aware that "it was prom night". She then said she would have to ask the manager if it would be ok. When she returned she said manager said no, can't do it. I then asked to speak to manager, and was again reminded that "it was prom night, and he is busy". Well, I requested to speak to him anyways. When he came out, he also reminded me "its prom night" and I said "I am well aware of that". He stated that the time I was requesting for a reservation was "unmanageable and not an option". The manager said that "food wait times would be to long". He referred us to two other restaurants in town, The Legends Steakhouse (because that would be his first choice) and The Social Club above Saloon #10 (his #2 choice). He said he would love to have our business, but made no attempt to work any kind of arrangement to win our business. He did not even look in the reservations book and offer to see if we would consider two smaller tables or any other options. That is a poor reflection of leadership and managerial skills. What would have this staff done if I just walked up at 6pm and requested a table for 12? Are they that unprepared, under staffed or unwilling? I just had a salad but my husband said the bison brisket sandwich was delicious. Onion rings were top notch and the ranch dressing was delicious. Love the food here, it's as good as it gets for Deadwood. We actually dined in Oggie's the sports bar but were provided with menus from both the grill and the sports bar and could order off either one. How cool is that? My best foodie experience would have to be the caprese salad (they just call it tomato mozzarella salad) Yellow and red tomato slices stacked with rounds of fresh mozzarella cheese in between with a yummy drizzle of balsamic and a nice house dressing. I could have made a meal of it...I'll be remembering that little salad for a long time to come. We also had escargot (which was good but not great) and some nice entrees. We were given a brunch menu with 4 items ONLY on it and were told that's all we could order unless we wanted to wait ANOTHER 30 mins for lunch . We did as the " brunch menu " didn't work for us . This is a hard review to write. The food was top of the line. That much, I can say without reservation. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and of the highest quality. The chicken tortilla soup was soup-er (sorry) yummy. The selection to chose from was great. That being said, a high-end restaurant cannot be judged on it's food alone and service must be taken into consideration. While this place is relatively casual in attire, that is for the convenience of the vacationer. So with that in mind, I have to say our service was less than acceptable. I hate leaving negative service remarks, so I will just note the highlights of the problems. The soup was delivered with a teaspoon, not a soup spoon, I was not offered a tasting of the wine, nor was I given any recommendations. She didn't even pour it when it was brought to the table, as is standard protocol. When delivering our dinners, she overloaded her tray and spilled steak sauces over our steak knives so she had to go get new ones. She really wasn't very personable until the last third of our meal. That being said, if she was a new waitress (I suggest this because of her difficulty with the food tray) I could understand some of these errors. Unfortunately, when a party of four has over a $125 meal (4 steak entrees, 2 alcoholic drinks, 2 sodas), you expect competent service. For the management, our server's number on our receipt was 1056. Ordered: Honey Chipotle Ribeye Whisky Sirloin 9 oz Ribeye Filet mignon Everyone loved their food, and our service experience might not be the norm. read more

Wow I was so excited to eat at this place after reading the reviews but the service and food was very disappointing. Our waitress was nice but obviously busy with only a few tables in the restaurant. We sat for 15 minutes waiting for our drinks and to put in the order. We were meeting family so we didn't mind the wait visiting together but it got a lot worst over the meal. She was nonexistent. She never refilled our empty water or cleared our plates. The butchers block was nice, the cheese wasn't great but the cuts of meat and bone marrow was good. The entrees were horrible. The seafood was bad. All of the seafood we had was seriously off. The crab in the seafood dish had turned and I immediately felt sick to my stomach after eating. The salmon was not edible. When we asked the waitress about the food she said the seafood was shipped in fresh and brushed it off. We had not eaten any of our food and sat there for over an hour. We paid our for our "meal" and left. Definitely would never spend money here again. Just have bar food next door and avoid the stomach ache. read more

Went there for their "Sunday brunch"..... It was advertised on their website with good reviews. There was no brunch, their "brunch" was just a menu with six breakfast items on it. We ordered coffees and the waitress came back to take our order and told us it would be a 45 minute wait for food even though the place wasn't even half full. Their self described "home cut" potatoes, we're just out of a frozen bag. We were very disappointed in the brunch advertisement and the quality of the food. We won't be back there. read more
