I am a patient of Dr. Dean Le , who I feel, is the best neurologist ever! I was battling with a neurological condition and no one could actually find the correct diagnosis and he did. He thinks outside of the box and all of his treatment has improved my quality of life! He is very empathetic, kind and really listens and spends all the time that I need. I have Primary Lateral Sclerosis which is a degenerative disease that has no cure, and Peripheral Neuropathy. Since my PLS has no cure and it is progressive, I always thought, as it progressed, there would be nothing more that could be done and I would just have to live with it. I was in severe pain in my feet and my legs due to spasticity and the peripheral neuropathy. I reported this to him and he recommended a medication that helps to regrow nerves and I feel that this has helped me and when my spasticity increased , he introduced a new treatment modality, which I just had today, and he implemented this with great care and understanding. So, with every symptom and condition that I have reported to him, he always finds the correct treatment that has improved my quality of life! It's my opinion that Dr. Le is one of those God complex, arrogant doctors that should not be practicing. My stepfather has extreme dementia, now to the point where he needs constant care. As you may know, this doesn't usually happen all at once. My mother brought up the signs of this dementia many years ago just looking for help. Rather than diagnose or even test for these issues, Dr, Le laughed it off saying "It is usually the wife that is having these problems." Super sexist and irresponsible, don't you think? My mother, as sharp as she was 50 years ago, kept pushing to try to get help... something. All he did was avoid her and eventually this escalated to him screaming at her that SHE was the one with problems. My step dad is now completely gone, doesn't know where he is, and there is little doubt that this may have been avoided if Dr. Le had at least just been a human being. So, if you're on Yelp researching, please move on to someone else. We're contemplating a malpractice suit at this point. read more

Dr Le is a brilliant doctor! I took my elderly mom to see Dr. Le for headaches, tinnitus, possible dementia, etc. Things got so bad almost to the breaking point for my mom and our family. Good doctor. Horrible staff, These people never answer the phones. Dr. Dean Le, recommended that I have an EEG an OV which is very important, the assistant gave me a paper with the date no the time. when I realize it was not time on the paper, Prior to the appointment date, I called several times, left messages, no one bother to call back, today 2/2824, I called, a new person answered, the appointment was never scheduled, so Angie, a new assistant, tried to scheduled for March 28, a month from today!!! when I asked why is Janet, Dr. Le's assistant or anyone answering my calls, the answer was, we get too many call, Janet is working for another doctor, that answer to me is unacceptable. Dr. Le also recommended and MRI to the brain, that same day, paper work for that was done, I scheduled my appointment, I got it done, i found out about my health problems through the MRI Report, the Online information sent to the doctor. Prior to that, the Dr. Also recommended a new Lab work, his assistant told me she was going to send the lab request directly to the LAB, before I left the office, that they not longer gave the lab form to the Patient???? she never did, I made my appointment got there, nothing was received, so never got the Lab work done. they do not seem to care!!! In 2019 I had a brain bleed which led to a subdural hematoma and a seizure that lasted more than four hours (status epilepticus). I spent the next 8 days in the ICU, unable to recognize anyone, including myself, for the first 5. My wife arranged to find two doctors to guide my recovery. One is an extraordinary brain surgeon and the other, Dr. Dean A. Le, a neurologist. Since that time Dr. Le has been a constant comfort in managing my anti-seizure medication and listening to my concerns especially those which require changes in my prescriptions. Avoid him like the plague.... I've been a patient of Dr Le's for over four years. I work for a Fortune 100 firm with good Anthem BC insurance. His office called me in December to set up a February yearly 15min appointment via FaceTime. His office even contacted me as a reminder days before. At the scheduled time no call came (strike 1) so I called his office. He had cancelled my appointment without telling me. His scheduler Erica informed me Dr Le would not take my insurance but I was welcome to be a cash customer at $150 for a FaceTime appointment. What sort of Dr of any kind does this let alone a neurologist who has a 10min call to simply ask you if you you've had your first seizure in many years (no) before replenishing your prescription. But it gets better... I called Anthem and they show he accepts their insurance. Now sometimes Drs do drop some policies so I called Dr Le's office manager Janet to only to discover she was using incorrect group number (strike 2). Ok, that must be it, right? So now that they had the correct Anthem group number I call back Dr Le's scheduler Erica to say I'm ready to schedule and that their office must have had a mixup and she tells me that there has been no mixup and Dr Le is not taking my Anthem insurance and no further explanation is offered (STRIKE 3). Really, this is just ridiculous. It was a circus and you should take your business doctor who cares. read more

Every year I see Dr. Le for medication management. I scheduled an appointment for December 14th. I arrived early for my appointment with Dr. Le and waited over 30 minutes to be called into the patient's room. I waited another 30 minutes in the patient's room and Dr. Le did not show up. I wasn't provided any explanation why he wasn't there and just asked if I would like to reschedule. Fast forward to February and I called Dr. Le's office to schedule an appointment for medication management. I left two voicemail messages on his assistant's voicemail. I did not receive a callback. So after being a patient for over 15 years, I have been discarded probably because I left a negative review. I now must find a new neurologist. I called Dr. Le's office twice to get my medical records. Since no one answered the phone, I left voicemail messages. No one has returned my calls. I have always been very satisfied with Dr. Le and his ability as a doctor. I'm not sure if he is experiencing some personal issues that are causing this disconnect or if it's the office staff that is not doing their job. I guess I will never know since the staff will not return my calls. read more

My horrible migraine was diagnosed by Dr. Preston who was another excellent Neurologist. He recommended Dr. Le to me to get special treatment for my migraines and hemifacial spasm. It was amazing! I definitely would like to see Dr. Le if I had stroke or any neurotic problem. Some people mentioned about receptionists of his office. Dr. Le is by far one of the best doctors that I have seen in all my years. Not only is he conscientious of the situations and empathetic of the pain that his patients are going through, but he also does his best work for his patients so that they may receive the care that they so desperately need. From working with the insurance companies, working around my schedule, dealing with the restrictions of COVID, Dr. Le and his staff have always taken the time to ensure that I was receiving proper care. One of the many reasons why I could not be happier with my care, is the fact that in addition to trying to treat the symptoms of the issue/disease, he also works to discover the underlying source. When I visit with him, I do not feel like a numbered patient and instead I feel as if he is a friend and although treating me is one of his primary concerns, he always is sure to ask how my family is doing and is happy when he hears of their accomplishments. For these reasons and many more I could not be happier with Dr. Le, and hope that more doctors strive to the have a bed-side manner that he does. One more review complaining about his ridiculous office staff. Looks like a revolving door of bad assistants. Now there is "X." One neurosurgeon has told me I need major surgery: 5 laminectomies and then fusion. He sent a detailed test requisition over for EMG and nerve conduction studies to see if maybe we can do fewer surgeries or use different techniques. A detail oriented requisition. I called X (Dr. Le's bitchy scheduler) to see if it arrived. First of all, this is her voice message (with a pissed off voice): "Leave me ONE MESSAGE with your name, DOB, etc." so I left her a specific message asking if they received the report. She calls back, "Did you want something?" I said "Did you receive the requisition?" X: "I haven't seen it." Me: "Could you look in the file?" Silence... She said "I am scheduling you for x date at 10:15." I said "How long will it take?" X: "15 minutes." I said "For EMG and nerve conduction studies?" X: "They are the same thing and its always 15 minutes." Is this Jiffy Lube? I read that they can take 45-120 minutes (see below), but sure, let's base the decision to cut off 5 vertebrae and fuse them together on a 15 minute test. They will just get the needle in and then a buzzer will sound and I will be thrown out. From MyHealthAlberta.ca: (notice that the tests are two different things) --An EMG may take 30 to 60 minutes. --Nerve conduction tests may take from 15 minutes to 1 hour or more. Dr Le was the 2nd neurologist, out of 5, that I consulted about suspected MS symptoms back in 2005. He performed my lumbar puncture which showed positive signs for MS or other inflammation in the spinal fluid. I told Dr Le that I had previously had optic neuritis in 1990, and that a year earlier in 2004, a urologist suggested I have a workup for MS. MS is pretty hard to diagnose, but the brilliant infectious disease doctor that I had been referred to, told me to see Dr Le because he was 'Stanford trained'. Dr Le refused to believe that I had MS. He dismissed me as an anxious female, basically told me to go home and shut up, and would not give me steroid treatments for what was later correctly diagnosed as transverse myelitis, associated with MS. He also took it upon himself to send a letter to the 3rd neurologist that I consulted for a second opinion. I did not ask him to do this, and of course the 3rd neurologist decided to agree with his opinion, so it truly was NOT an unbiased second opinion. Since I worked for a hospital associated with Saddleback at the time, and had previously worked at Saddleback Memorial Hospital, I wrote a letter to the CEO of the hospital about this incident, along with their ER also completely missing the correct diagnosis. Dr Le then tried to retaliate by sending me to collections. He has a very poor bedside manner, and cannot think outside the box, which is necessary in cases that are hard to diagnose. Thank GOD for neurologists who are specialized in MS, or I would still be undiagnosed!!!! read more
