I first saw Dr. Jackson on April 16th. My experience with the office staff was pleasant, there was zero issues with any discs that I gave them. I have a narrowed spinal cord that disappears in places. I also have compressed discs slip discs discs that are hardly there. Basically a hot mess. Dr. Jackson is an architect who came up with a plan to save me from a wheelchair and paralysis. I have heard from my doctors that he is the doctor's doctor. My experience with him so far has been excellent. His surgery coordinator Wida is absolutely wonderful and gets the business of getting you surgery done. She is on point. The spinal class that I took were very informative. They were able to get me into surgery pretty quick and my appointment is next week. I'll update the review after the surgery. read more

Great surgeon- the best of the best! After a bad car accident- I was left with multiple damaged discs that were compressing my spinal cord. Other surgeons were telling me spinal fusions were my only option Dr. Jackson said he was able to replace multiple discs and bone spurs that were on nerves. Absolutely perfect experience with Dr. Jackson performing spinal surgery to replace a herniated disc in my neck at C6-C7. I have excruciating pain from a severely pinched nerve for nearly a year and after taking Gabapentin for a few months I really didnt want to be on medication forever. I went to Dr. Jackson and he showed me the "Mobi-C" technology that replaces a disc without fusion. The surgery was about an hour, and I immediately felt relief the same day. The first time I went to his office the staff were very nice. However, the second time I was appalled! I made an appointment to see Dr. Jackson with my additional MRI's. My appointment was scheduled about 6-8 weeks out. I received a call a few weeks later stating that they had a cancellation, so I took it. When I got there, the front desk staff requested my CD's and I explained to her that I wanted to hold onto them and review them with the Dr. She got in my face was very rude and said "GIVE ME YOUR DISCS". I should have walked out right then but gave them to her. I was not scheduled to see the Dr. but PA. The disc's were never reviewed with me as requested. I was told by the PA no tumor, no surgery. Well, that does not help my headaches and dizziness since my injury. Will never return. He may be a good surgeon but being courteous and professional to your patients is equally as important. read more

This was my second back surgery in a year. The first surgery (performed by someone other than Dr. Jackson) provided relief for three months and then the pain came back with a vengeance! I then made an appointment with Dr. Jackson who reviewed my pre and post op MRI's and then sent me for a nerve conduction velocity test. The downside here is that it took four months to get this particular testing completed. Second meeting with Dr. Jackson and now a chief complaint was pain not only on my right side, but my left side as well. Another MRI was scheduled along with my surgical date. Doctor Jackson upon reviewing my most recent MRI advised of a secondary herniated disk but told me not to worry he would address all conditions during the impending surgery. 27 days later (this last Tuesday) I found myself at Mission Hospital ready for surgery. I am now three days post-op, I required NO PAIN MEDICATION during my hospital stay, and required NO PRESCRIPTION for pain medication upon leaving the hospital. The physical therapist sent to evaluate my condition prior to hospital checkout said she would have accompanied me up the flight of stairs, but felt she wouldn't have been able to keep up and she would have been left breathless. I was up walking the surgical floor ten laps the morning after surgery with little discomfort. Oh I was sore for sure, but the soreness was attributed to the incision site. My previous surgeon wanted to address this second surgical approach by going through the abdomen. Dr. Jackson said this approach would require a longer recovery period and he felt it to be unnecessary. Dr. Jackson made his incision directly over the first back surgical scar a 3" incision. So for all of you out there living with excruciating back pain who have read all the horror stories on the internet, or worst yet heard them from your so-called friends - take heart. We have a champion in Robert Jackson, a Doctor who knows exactly what is required to meet his Hippocratic Oath mandate and the technical skill set to relieve the pain and improve the lives of those patients with which he has been entrusted. It deserves reiteration, I am three days post-op, and other than a small degree of "soreness" I am feeling great about my recovery and absolutely wonderful about my choice of Dr. Robert Jackson! read more

In 2020 I had a cervical disc replacement with Dr. Jackson at the C5/6 level. After 30+ years in the Fire Department, my body was showing the wear and tear. Dr. Jackson proceeded slowly rather than rushing to surgery. It was only after all the other more conservative treatments were unsuccessful that he recommended surgery. Several colleagues from the FD indicated that Dr. Jackson was the best after he "put them back together", so I decided to proceed with the surgery to place a "Mobi-C" disc in my neck in November of 2020. Since surgery I have had great PT at Premier Spine and Sport in Laguna Hills, and I am doing REALLY WELL. The surgical scar post-operatively on my neck is almost invisible. I would highly recommend Dr. Jackson for anyone contemplating spine surgery. Darren his PA was great as well with follow up care and medications along the way. Dr. Jackson's surgical coordinator is also VERY good at what she does and worked hard to get me in to see Dr. Jackson as soon as possible. THANK YOU Ms. Razai! Dr. Robert Jackson is an excellent neurosurgeon. He was able to swiftly diagnose my spinal issue and with certainty and utter confidence explained that surgery was the right option. My surgery was scheduled in a very reasonable timeframe (by the way, if your surgeon is immediately available for an elective surgery, it means he/she's probably not in demand. I find many of these poor Yelp reviews just plain ignorant.) and even more importantly, my outcome was excellent. I'm on the path to spinal health, with no leg/foot tingle, numbness, or pain. I was having issues with my back, try to get an appointment with Dr. Jackson, and took a good amount of time since he is booked up about a month or two. Front office staff was Friendly and advised me of a cancellation on the same week. Which was good since the last time I tried to get an appointment there it took three months and I went to a different surgeon I met with the doctor for a consultation and to review my MRI. He was friendly and to the point. Took his time to explain what was going on and what the solution would be. Was very thorough and instilled a great deal of confidence which is important, especially when dealing with a back surgery I have my surgery scheduled, but the two times I have met with him, I am definitely confident that he will do a great job based on recommendations, his knowledge, and the information that he provided. Reading through the other reviews, I noticed that people were basing the review on the staff and not the doctor. Which is sad. So far I have had nothing but a positive experience with this office. We went in to see Dr. Robert Jackson and believe me, he is an amazing, smart, & highly skilled doctor! If you are in need of his services, I would trust him to get the job done well! However, I had to give two stars solely because I had a bad experience with his front office staff. They were rude, cold, and downright unprofessional at times. While waiting in the waiting room, you can hear them talking loudly about their personal lives and gossiping about their coworkers! That I wouldn't have minded so much had they been even a little nice and hospitable. When patients go to the doctors, they're usually already uneasy and probably in some form of pain. Having a staff as inconsiderate as this one only increases the patients' misery and experience. There are so many capable, intelligent, and much more kind people suitable for these jobs. I hope Dr. Jackson or any of his associates stumbles upon this review and the reviews of many others written online and implement some changes! There's such an easy fix I this problem: either retrain your staff and teach them the importance of bedside manner, or let them go all together and find the thousands of other qualified workers that can do their job while maintaining their manners, professionalism, and kindness. read more

I called and it took a while to get into see the doc. Be warned, they are busy! The Appointment was quick, and the doc covered the options for the disc that was having issues. He took his time, which for a doc to do, is very rare. He went over the risks with each option, and we agreed on one that would do the best. Dr. Jackson has done a total of 3 surgeries on my spine. All of them have turned out better than expected. The first was a 4 levels fusion in my neck. I couldn't raise my arm before the surgery. After the surgery and some PT, I have full use of my arm. The second and third where in my l4-l5 and l5-s1 areas to correct some serious degeneration issues. After a couple of weeks, I was totally back to walking and driving. After 13 weeks, I feel as strong as ever without any pain. I would certainly recommend Dr. Jackson. read more

I had cervical disk replacement and fusion on April 17. My pain used to be level 7-9 on my left shoulder running down my left arm. It is now August 21 and the pain level has dropped to very low and intermittent. Undergoing physical therapy. But I still have problems swallowing and I have confirmed damage to the nerve that drives my right vocal chord and swallowing. Not happy about this. This should not be the standard result. I am also looking into whether the anesthesiologist had a role in this. read more

I had an artificial disc replacement surgery L5-S1 one year ago and thanks to Dr. Jackson I am able to once again live an active life style. Prior to surgery I couldn't sit without extreme sciatica pain which wouldn't allow me to drive and I had to work on my laptop either standing or lying on my stomach. After the surgery it took me around six months before I was able to begin playing serious sports. That was partly my own desire to ensure I had strengthened my core sufficiently through walking, swimming, and ultimately back to the gym. I had horrible sciatica pain for 1 1/2 years to the point that I could not walk more than an 1/8 mile without stopping from the excruciating pain. Most people who did not know me intimately weren't aware of my debilitating condition as I tried to suck it up. My physical medicine doctor thought that my pain would resolve with physical therapy and cortisone injections so my wife and I had been talking about going on our first trip overseas at the end of this summer and we made arrangements by booking a two week tour of Italy. After months of physical therapy and two rounds of cortisone injections the pain just continued to worsen. With only two months to our trip of a life time I went under the knife with Dr. Jackson. I can honestly say that the experience has been life changing. I had two cervical discs replaced with the Mobi-C product at C5/6 & C6/7 four months ago and couldn't be happier. Dr. Jackson gave me my life back! I had lost strength in my right arm, had constant pain and numbness down my right arm and upper back, an interior tremor and spinal stenosis. Prior to surgery I was in pain while doing almost everything and lost my ability to participate in sports. Dr. Jackson was the fourth doctor I saw for my problem and he had the best solution, disc replacement instead of fusion. Immediately after surgery I had relief from the tremor and the constant arm pain. I started PT at 8 weeks post op and at four months post op I'm thrilled to say all of the pain is gone, I do feel some tingling where the nerves are growing back but that is minor and expected.
