If I could give zero stars I would! DO NOT USE DEAN AND SONS MOVING!!! I received a quote a few months in advance and the. Called a few weeks before the move to make a reservation. It all seemed to go so smoothly. I was told I would receive a confirmation call the day before to make sure everything was still good. I did not receive any calls. I called them the night before instead since I hadn't heard from them. I was told they would call me back when he could see the schedule. No call back. I called the next morning and continued to call more than 20 times. My roommate attempted to call just as many times as me. I even went as far to go to the address posted on yelp. It was a house and no one answered the door. I attempted to find another number or email but failed. Eventually messaged on yelp to cancel services and had to scramble to find a better more reliable service. They eventually called my roommate back but not me and was very rude to her. Never EVER use this company. The price is low because the service is terrible. read more

These guys were the only company that would allow a very short loading appointment. Everyone else wanted over $80/hr, with a minimum of 4 hours. It is still very expensive to move, and get help, however, they moved approximately 20 boxes of various sizes, from my 2nd floor apartment, into my uhaul trailer. Ensured that it was loaded evenly, and was done in about 10 minutes. They had their own handcarts too. Be forewarned...as I stated...expensive to hire any movers.. this set be back at $140, additionally, they only take cash, and did not offer a receipt. Nobody likes moving. It's stressful. Your entire life is uprooted, you hair falls out, sometimes you even think about abandoning all your worldly possessions and become a hermit, just so you can avoid it. Quoted me the 3 hour minimum when booking on the phone and lowered my extra mileage fee when I asked Carlo to pick up a dresser at another address on the way to my new apartment. They loaded their huge trailer with my 1 bedroom and storage in 45 minutes! They wouldn't let me lift a finger- took care of it all. Family operated and down to earth. A LOT went wrong with other people in this move, but Dean & Son's were the absolute stars who got it done and worked with me to deal with the failings of others. And they do cleaning as well so it was easy to have them do it all. They communicated well when others didn't, they showed up when they said they would, and finished the job so completely, the landlord was able to rent the apartment immediately. I would definitely suggest you have them come see your place for the estimate because I didn't and that was my fault. They know their job and what it takes to get it done so let them do their job. I found Dean & Son's through Instagram and they replied within minutes and were able to schedule our move at a very competitive rate given our circumstances. A few bumps came up in the process of the move that extended how long we needed them, but they were able to come back to finish the job. They hustled throughout the process and helped us evaluate the best way to handle a few things. The guys arrived late (45 min) but I was called prior to my scheduled appointment time to gove me a head's up - which I appreciated. The guys (2) were courteous, careful, and efficient. They finished well within the 3 hour minimum contracted time frame. The only I didn't appreciate was the addition of a $25 'fuel surcharge' which I was not aware of till the day of service. For only having to move things on the same property without the need to drive anywhere, I thought the fuel charge unnecessary. read more

Dean & Sons got back to me very quickly and had the best price all around. Carlo called me and was ready to move me earlier than expected which was fine. I had 2 movers to move 2 bedroom sets, a fridge, a couple side tables and a credenza/hutch cabinet, a few surf boards and a ping pong table. My son and I put all the tables in the front room by front door and took apart my bed frame for a quicker moving experience. I have moved several times in my life but we were nervous about moving our cal-king motorized bed so decided to hire movers ( I had to move it all later by myself and was not very heavy ) I felt like I could have moved the furniture quicker, they may have been tired from their previous move and there were some stairs. They did help us get the fridge in the house and help try and take it apart to get it in the kitchen however at this point we were way over on time ( 5 hours) and this was a 2 mile move so we were left with a room full of furniture to take to the second room and a fridge in pieces. Carlo accidentally took my fridge handles which took 3 days to get back and to top it off our ping pong table was left in the way back of the yard BROKEN. So all in all they were nice but felt like they could have moved a little quicker ( times I didn't see them for a bit) let me know about the ping pong table and not just leave it in the back. Unbelievably great service! This family-owned company got me out of a bind. I had booked another moving company that canceled on me at the last moment. No other company would schedule me in on a 24-hour notice. I was just moving a three-bedroom two-bath house 2 miles down the road here in Oxnard. I called Dean at 5 p.m. the night before and explained my emergency situation why I needed my move and he said he was completely booked for the next day but he would ask some of his employees that had the day off if they would cover it and let me know by 9 p.m. and he called at 9:15 p.m. to tell me he got it booked! On time, courteous, professional and safe, workers moved all the contents of a 5,000 sf 3 story house to the ground floor so we can liquidate an estate. The guys that helped us move were great, but I feel deceived by the owner of the company. When I spoke with Carlo Dean to get a quote, he told me there's no double drive time, however, he did not tell me that the clock starts when the movers leave Ventura. We lived in Santa Monica, I would not have gone with this company had I known that's the way they do business. It just felt unfair because he did not tell me before I made a decision. Other companies charge double drive time and are upfront about it. Carlo stated that they do not charge double drive time but that's not completely true, is it? Let's call a spade, a spade. The day before moving day, I had asked if they could pick up something in Camarillo beforehand, that's when he told me the clock starts in Ventura. I had thought it was because I had added a stop but didn't realize that 1 hour and 40 minutes would be added to the total. Isn't that similar to double drive time? Depending on where you move to, it might even be more than double drive time. At that point, I had no time to find a different company. I did not appreciate the last-minute surprise. They'd do better if they had been honest and up front about how the hours are calculated. I'd like to mention again, though, that the guys did a great job but I'd not recommend this company to my friends because the owner did not disclose full information. read more

So pleased with our experience with these guys! Carlo got back to me right away when I was looking for quotes. He gave me a very competitive quote too. The guys showed up right on time and they were efficient and professional. They got us all packed up for our move within two hours. They were able to accommodate our extra stop and even loaded up the fridge - no easy task since we had to lift it over the kitchen counter. Carlo moved my 1-bedroom apartment apartment, traveled to and from storage and re-organized said 10'x15' storage (with a friend's 1-BR belongings in it) all in less than 3 hours. He and his partner worked quickly but they carefully wrapped my large, wooden furniture and fragile decorations so it would be protected. Even though we had to reschedule a couple times because his other moves went too long, he made it up to me when it was my moving day by offering a discount. I found my favorite movers! Great prices, lower than anyone in the area-and ZERO hidden fees!! Future customers, it helps if you are a little flexible as some moves (planned before yours) can become unexpected with the amount of furniture/belongings/location/etc. of other people. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY. I have never written a review for any company, but felt it necessary in efforts to help someone avoid the inconvenience and stress of being left hanging after using this company. I contacted the owner, Dean, to set up my reservation. I described all the large furniture items and provided full disclosure so there were no surprises of what needed to be moved or the rate I would be charged. We agreed on the rate, 2 movers, and an approx. 4 hr move time needed. The day before my scheduled move, Dean pushed my move back from 12pm to 3pm. On the move day, the movers called and pushed the time back again to 6pm...a total 6 hr delay. They finally arrive with the smallest U-Haul size truck!!!! We were thoroughly confused as to why they would arrive, 6 hrs late, with such a small truck when they were already aware of the amount of furniture we had for a 2 bedroom apartment and garage as previously discussed. The movers mentioned that they would have to make a few trips to complete the move. Of course that meant a time frame of well over 4 hours. We would have been moving well into midnight since they showed up around 6 and would need to do several trips. I called Dean to inquire about the small truck and to determine if given the inconvenience of a 6 hr delay AND the small truck they arrived in, if we could settle on the initial agreement of a 4hr move time as was initially agreed, despite the time it would take with such a small truck. Instead of acknowledging his unprofessionalism in arriving late and poor decision to send a small truck already knowing the furniture previously discussed, Dean said he would not complete the move and hung up on me. I called back thinking this must be a joke after he held up 6 hrs of our day arriving late. He did not answer and instead sent a text stating "sorry"....We could NOT believe that someone claiming to be a "family business" would just leave our family hanging like that so late in the day. UNBELIEVEABLE AND INCREDIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU. DO NOT USE THIS CO. Dean says one thing and does another. If I could give 6 stars I would. Due to some unfortunate circumstances I found out I had to leave my apartment within 24 hours. I reached out to a million moving companies and Carlo responded to me personally and offered the lowest rate and complete flexibility with timing. Because of my situation I used the daytime to pack and Carlo and company came at 7pm to move my stuff. They had zero complaints about it being late or dark and even helped me finish packing the items I hadn't gotten into boxes yet. I was insanely stressed because of the situation I had found myself in and these gentleman not only made the job seem effortless and easy, but they were so kind and friendly that they even managed to put a smile on my face.
