They charged $12,000 for a single truck (normal, average price) filled halfway. They added $686.78 for bubble wrap and torn-up cardboard boxes used for padding that did not need to be used. I knew they charged for boxes and bubble wrap. I didn't know when they were tearing up garment boxes that they planned to charge me for those. And I didn't know they were burning through industrial rolls of bubble wrap for each individual item. If you see them doing that, stop them. You can't argue you're way out of it later. You either agree to pay or you don't move. The actual moving guys who went in the truck were good. Very efficient. Got the job done without wasting time, including very difficult items going up stairs. It was a lot of hard work. They got tipped well. I don't blame them. The site manager at the pickup was just burning my money and had the gall to ask for a tip for himself after handing me that bill. That isn't even the main issue. Aside from the bubble wrap/cardboard fiasco, the main issue was that they wouldn't take all my stuff even though they had agreed to take whatever would fit in their truck. They filled it halfway and decided it's too heavy to add any more. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They knew what I was taking with me. They saw pictures of it all in advance. I had the best moving experience 2 weeks ago with this company. I've moved houses about 12 times so I know how stressful moving is. I have plenty of nightmare moving stories. So I did a ton of research and called almost a dozen moving companies. Honestly so many are just straight up lying, it's scary. One company claiming to be local had someone who was clearly out of the US taking customer service calls, ummm no thanks. Another company wouldn't stop texting me to book with them! Then there were the scams about no deposit required so they can skip out on your move if they get a higher paying job the day of your move. When I called J&G moving the owner John answered and had a lengthy conversation about my move, my expectations, and what they could offer. He even drove out to my house to assess my stuff and give me an accurate quote. I got a solid flat rate for my move from SGV to San Diego (93 miles). The day of the move three guys showed up and there were all really friendly and polite. I knew it was going to be a good day when we started chatting and joking around. They guys were down to earth and easy to talk to. Even with jovial attitude everyone was professional. They answered all my questions, were great about asking details of my stuff, and loaded up surprisingly fast. They even cleaned thoroughly after themselves without being asked!
