The food was delicious and the ambiance must be so cute on a cool day! I was there on a hotish day for London standards. And, omg I was sweating through the entire meal. I can understand London residents not having AC but businesses should be fully equipped to entertain. This is the Soho house afterall.
I loveeeeee this hotel. I didn't want to leave! The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, they have beautiful candles, plus the hotel robe and toiletries for purchase, and the rooms are pretty and clean. My parents had a huge bathtub in their room and my room just had a shower but it was amazing. Obsessed with all the different products in the bathroom and the cozy bed and soft linens. The cookies in the room were a nice touch. Truly did not want to leave. And the hotel is perfectly located in the SoHo area of London as well.
WHEN: Sat @10am Arrived to London just the night before and having our first meal! I was craving some green smoothie or pressed juice and came here because they have that. It's such a fancy place that looks like it's been in business for decades. Here's what we ordered: STILL WATER - £4.75 Yeah Rookie mistake. When asked if you want Sparking or Still water, this is a trap! Always ask for TAP, cuz they will charge you for a bottle of sparking or still. It's not even on the menu!!! FULL VEGETARIAN BREAKFAST - £13 Eggs any style, avocado, tomato, mushroom, spinach, beans, feta, bubble & squeak. I chose the vegetarian version because the English version didn't sound very good. I'm so glad I did, and I feel I get more bang for my buck ordering this. TWICE-SMOKED BACON SANDWICH - £9 Comes with Brown Sauce. It's literally some bacon sandwiched between really toasted/crunchy hard sliced bread. Guaranteed roof of the mouth scraping. Don't bother unless you absolutely just want hard bread and salty bacon. PRESS JUICE (GREEN) - £6.5 The GREEN is cucumber, apple, celery, spinach, romaine, kale, lemon. Totally hits the spot even though it's not house-made. ITs the bottled stuff you can buy at the grocery called PRESS. Yeah I read wrong, haha. Service was decent, and so was the food. At least I learned a lesson here!
# Overall: I had a nice experience with Dean Street Townhouse for afternoon tea. Unfortuantely, I didn't get the full relaxing experience because I was on a tighter schedule, but it was still a nice experience and even more so for its price point. # Ambiance The vibe inside of Dean Street Townhouse is interesting. There's an overall Victorian feel, but the artwork on the walls are a bit more on the contemporary side. # Food and Drink Afternoon Tea Set The set comes with 3 sandwich slices (salmon, chicken, cucumber), 2 scones (plain, raisin), and 3 "premium cakes" (lemon meringue, fruit tart, chocolate truffle). We had a pot of English breakfast and a pot of Earl Grey. The overall tea experience was lovely, but the best part was the scone. The scones were nice and warm even though we had the sandwiches first. The scones were still moist inside and paired nicely with the soft and creamy clotted cream. Chocolate and raspberries are a good combo, but the lemon meringue takes the cake here.
Had a very fun afternoon tea at Dean Street Townhouse (even though our waiter was a real drip). Everyone else was very nice. We had way too much food and ended up taking a box back to our place. No problem there -- we will enjoy it later. The tea sandwiches were very tasty. The scones were delicious and the clotted cream that came with them was incredibly good. The little sweet pastries were yummy. We should have order the tea service for one and shared but I don't know if you can do that. The atmosphere was lovely. Nice tables and a long bar filled with a lot of people chatting and having cocktails. I could get used to it!
Came here solo for an afternoon tea experience. The ambiance was cozy; there was dim warm lighting and plenty of options for seating. I didn't have enough room for afternoon tea so I went with the Cream Tea with added sandwiches instead. Everything was delicious! I think the scones could've been a bit softer all around but other than that, no complaints here. I got the Earl Grey tea. I wasn't aware that you could have refills until the end of my meal lol. The staff was so friendly. I didn't remember my server's name but he had short black hair and glasses. I think there was a mix-up because he sang happy birthday and brought me some celebratory truffles. It was not my birthday LOL. I think this was a great choice for tea in London and I liked the neighborhood it was in too. Highly recommended, especially for a solo traveler like me!
Enjoyed the food here and find it quite surprising that even if we are not soho house member, we are still able to get a table. The price is actually not bad as we are expecting it to cost a bit more since it's a private members club sorta situation. Beef tartare is yummy and the portion is big enough to actually be a main. I had the salmon and it's cooked to just right. They give a pretty big piece so it's nice We also had burger and it's huge too. Overall great time and good food.
In London for vacation and of course had to have Afternoon Tea. After much research looking for just the right spot we settled on DST and I'm so glad we did! Charming and cozy. It felt like we were in the library of a distinctive English home, complete with plush velvet chairs. I want to thank the restaurant as I had requested a table by the fire and it was graciously honored. The tea and food were delicious, each item properly prepared and the right amount. Every aspect of the experience felt very authentic. The server was not as attentive as I would have expected but everything worked out in the end. Would absolutely recommend.
This place is cozy, classy, sophisticated, and warm all the same time. I popped in here for a last minute dinner with friends and champagne was flowing over dimly lit candlelight all evening. The food was delicious and really let British classics get a well deserved moment to sing. Overall, very good experience and must visit to really feel like you're soaking up the best of London.
One of the best Sunday roasts I've had at a beautiful location. Everything was great quality and the drinks were delicious too
We were taken here by my old friend from college who was also a Londner. Located in the heart of Soho. Exterior looked pretty posh and elegant. Inside was dimmed and candles were placed on each tables. It looks to be good dating spot or fancy dinner. Although I'm not familiar with what was quintessential or authentic. Well dressed staffs definitely lived up to my stereotypes of "Gentlemanly Britain". Our waiter was quite informative and patient with our all questions. After assessing the menu, we settled with "Haddock and Chips", "Fish Pie" and steak. Haddock and chips had quite a volume. Almost size of 20oz T-bone steak. Breading was a bit too oily for my preference but the fish meat's texture was just right. This sort of food can get too watery but it wasn't. I guess that it was the sign of that the fish was fresh. My gf couldn't finish her fish pie, so I got to taste the left over. Man, I wish I had this instead of Haddock and Chips. It had very delicious cream stew with assorted fish from white fish to salmon. They were good chunk and visible. You can definitely taste real fish there. My Londoner friend had steak tartar. Now, that's the dish I want to have next time. It was supposed to be a starter but that thing look solid. I think I'd be full from eating just that. Overall, there were no miss. Everything we got was pretty good. I'd definitely recommend it.
I was impressed dish after dish with the Dean Street Townhouse. They also had some fancy cocktails. The fish and chips are a must try. I could even see someone/couple coming in for the (smaller option) fish and chips + drinks. I was excited to try the lamb dish as I haven't been exposed to much UK lamb and it was stellar.

Dean Street Townhouse was so good that I dined here twice during my four days in London, once for breakfast and again for their Sunday roast. For breakfast, we sat outside with coffee and enjoyed people watching in the heart of Soho. It was such a relaxing way to start the day. The food was delicious, making it one of my favorite breakfasts in London. The Sunday roast absolutely lived up to the hype. Everything was cooked perfectly, from the tender meat to the classic sides. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Dean Street Townhouse is well worth a visit. read more
Dean Street Townhouse is one of my go to spots. Its central location and ease of making a reservation online makes it an ideal place for a great meal. It has one of my favorite cheeseburgers in London. As a Californian my standards for cheeseburgers is high and they do a really great job with their burgers. Don't skip the Mac and cheese either! They have a beautiful bar with a full selection of alcohol. They have some really nice tequila options as well. Service here is always good. The townhouse itself is beautiful and it is a great date spot or to take out of town visitors. read more
I really enjoyed my experience here and this was definitely another highlight of my London birthday trip. One thing that I definitely wanted to do was a high tea day and I was looking for the right venue to go to for this. I initially didn't want to come here because of it being literally right next to my hotel. I figured I should be intentional finding somewhere that will have everything that I want rather than just going with what is the most convenient but I actually ended up going here and I had an amazing time. It had everything I was looking for in a high tea experience. The biggest thing was the aesthetic: it has that cozy, authentic British tea room ambience. Our waiters were also really nice and helpful. The only issue that I did have is I just felt like they could've better explained to us how everything worked. Other than that though, it was a good time. I figured that the little sandwiches and pastries they served us would just taste OK but they were actually really good. I was very pleasantly surprised. The sandwiches were so good and I already really like scones so of course I enjoyed those as well. The best part about this place is the pricing. I personally feel that the standard pricing for afternoon tea in London is too high. It just doesn't add up to me when I'm thinking about what I'm getting. It doesn't make sense how much they charge but here the pricing to me makes sense. Itis significantly cheaper than anywhere else and to me it's the exact same experience compared to what I've seen atother places so if you were looking to get an afternoon tea experience without breaking the bank, I would definitely recommend this place. I really wanted to get some pictures here and was able to do that. It was a little difficult at times trying to get pictures without being in the way, but I was able to get them so overall I really enjoyed myself and I would recommend this place for an afternoon tea. read more

I have been staying here for the past 6 nights and I have one more night to go but, I didn't want to leave without commending how wonderful my stay has been here. This includes the room accommodations, front-office staff and housekeeping. Although my window view from my room is of a lift shaft, it was the perfect room for me since it is very quiet especially when this hotel situates on a very busy street with a loud nightlife. This is a quaint boutique hotel (part of the Soho House chain) that includes every amenity you will possibly need so pack lightly (e.g. flat iron, hair dryer, face wash, face toner, dental kit, etc.) I mean, they have multiple bottles of different body wash, body scrubs and shampoo/conditioner for you to choose from located in their spacious rain shower. The only issue I have is their shower door has a gap on the bottom so water seeps out and soaks the bath mat no matter how careful I've tried to be. Also, their sink has the separate hot and cold spigots which, looks great but does not work well in theory. I have to brush my teeth and wash my hands in cold water unless I want go through the trouble of mixing warm water by plugging the sink - no thanks. Although small, they've done a good job at maximizing space but, still keeping the bathroom spacious which is most important to me. This is quite a beautiful hotel that is centrally located to many nearby attractions and shopping. I will definitely return back here when I visit London again! One more thing, I've dined at their restaurant on several occasions (usually breakfast) and it was decent. Their theater menu for dinner is actually quite reasonable (2 courses for 19 pounds or 3 courses for 22 pounds). It was the only place and only time I had a traditional British meal - fish and chips of course - and thought it was made well. Tried their version of a spicy margarita which, was very good. read more

We landed here after a full day of walking. Here is my thing, I love a good bar with good bartenders who want to make your experience memorable. Casual yet refined. Piano jazz on in the background as we nibbled on a cheese plate and olives. I'll remember this place for sure. read more
Went here for a business dinner. Really nice decor, comfortable and upscale. Got a couple of beers at the bar to start, Camden Pale Ales which were quite nice. However they were out of our first choice selection. Then off to our table which they held for us for 15 extra minutes while we lingered with the beers. Menu is very English. I ordered a salad to begin of a special local tomato. Most of them were delicious but the odd one was a little mushy. Maybe too early in the summer. My main was Dover sole meunière which was superb. They deboned and filleted it for me. Real rich and nice portion was just right. Also a side of asparagus with Sauce on the side. It was a hit. Client got the haddock pie which he raved about. Sourdough bread was really good and the wine list was very good as well. Some great Spanish Riojas to be had. Very crowded by the time we left. Soho was jumping! read more

The best ever service at Dean Street Townhouse! Staff were so warm, accommodating and efficient. I asked for a glass of ice for my tap water but the ice slowly melted in the glass as I was moving on with my meal and the staff changed that for me without I even enquiring about it. Every small thing was thought of for you already to make your dining experience smooth. I dined late afternoon with the set menu (2-course for £18), the restaurant had air-con inside and wasn't busy. Staff were wearing face masks and the menu was digital - to limit contact. I ordered the pork and duck terrine as starter and salmon as the main, and asked for recommendation of a glass of white. The starter was fantastic, flavours were so well balanced and a cold dish is well suited to a hot sunny summer day. The Salmon main was just average tho, the skin side was a little bit burnt that I can taste the bitterness of it so I had to remove the skin. The flavour of the dish is also a bit boring - pretty much just the original flavour of the ingredients without much else, tho also quite suited to a hot day. Overall, I've had a lovely experience, love how this restaurant is hidden so not as busy, fantastic service good food and reasonable pricing, I'll definitely be back. read more
Throughout dinner, I couldn't help but continually comment on how similar Dean Street Townhouse felt to New York's Minetta Tavern. At no point during our meal did that sentiment go away. A comfortable atmosphere I can only describe as cosy-contemporary mixed with quality cocktails, flawlessly professional service, and excellently executed dishes made for a superb experience. It's no wonder that bookings for a Saturday evening are challenging to come by. Protip: The slots available via OpenTable are extremely limited relative to what's available by phone - you're best off calling if you're trying to score a table during prime dining times. A friend talked me into the haddock soufflé, with sauce served table-side (so's not to end up all mushy by the time it's delivered). It's not something I would have sprung for, but I was wholly impressed. It was a bit like a crab cake in consistency and flavour, but wrapped in a pastry shell. The butter lettuce salad with blue cheese was generous and refreshing, and my sea bream fillet main was perfectly cooked with tender, flaky flesh and a crisp skin. Whether you're popping in for some flair-filled drinks at the bar or a proper meal, Dean Street Townhouse is virtually guaranteed to please. read more
I love that they served a complimentary loaf (yes, an entire loaf!) of sourdough bread. The treacle tart was also really darn good. Unfortunately, all of this was overshadowed by entrees which I thought were ordinary and overpriced. We ordered the sea bass and crab salad. Judging from others' reviews, it looks like Dean Street Townhouse might be more geared towards afternoon tea than dinner. read more
We went with friends there for a classic afternoon tea. The atmosphere was nice, comfy and very relaxing. The service itself was great, all the staff was nice and smiling. The food was ok but not exceptionnal. It was my third afternoon tea in London but not the best. The finger sandwiches were plain, a bunch of small scones was a great ideas and finally the small sweets were good but no special. The tea was delicious and I liked the cups used. It's a nice place to go but far from the best afternoon tea I have ever had... read more

So when in London as a visitor you have to have Afternoon Tea, right? I will admit I researched this one and read up quite a bit before making my reservations for this place. *Reservations are STRONGLY RECOMMENDED* Edward was our server and was just a pleasure to talk to. My kids were way underdressed for this but the seating staff overlooked this (thankfully!) We were not rushed and given a full 2 hours for tea which I didn't think we would need but surprisingly did! I've attached photos which explain it all. They don't begin, however, to do it justice to the AMAZING TASTE! read more

We stayed at the Dean Street Townhouse while in London. We were traveling with our 25 year old daughter, so we had two rooms. From their category of rooms, we had a "bigger" and a "smaller" room. Gaby from Dean Street kindly arranged for two rooms that were right next to each other, which was ideal. The rooms were both lovely with character and charm that exceeded our expectations. A complimentary tea set with a wide selection of teas that went well beyond anything I've seen at any other hotel. Both rooms had king sized beds with wonderfully soft bedding. We also ate breakfast and a dinner in the Dean Street restaurant next door, which was more of the same -- lot's of character and charm with excellent food and service. The fish & chips was the largest piece of fish I have ever had and it was cooked to perfection. A lovely hotel and restaurant that we will frequent again! read more
There was a mix-up about our Sunday reservation for Afternoon Tea at Dean Street Townhouse, and we had to wait 40 minutes before we could secure a table. But I understand these things happen, and after that the experience was lovely. The dining room was warm and elegant with hardwood floors and plush vintage armchairs. The restaurant was filled with diners enjoying their Sunday roast or Afternoon Tea, and we were allowed to sip and nibble on ours for several hours without being rushed. Candles were even brought to the table when the sun went down! We each had a pot of a tea with the tiered stand. The bottom tier was made up of 3 different kinds of sandwiches (egg & cucumber, ham, smoked salmon). They were all good, but nothing very special. The middle tier held a plate of large raisin scones (2 per person), which were still warm and about as perfect as raisin scones can get. Clotted cream and strawberry/raspberry jams made them phenomenal. The top tier held an assortment of sweets: Battenberg cake, red velvet cupcakes, coffee cake, macarons, custard tarts, and cream puffs. On the side, we also ordered a Scotch Egg that was crispy on the outside and oozing with a brilliantly runny orange yolk inside. The Mac & Cheese was decadent! This was more than enough food, and at a good value. We ended up taking many of the scones and sweets to go... and they were the perfect snack the next morning on the Eurostar to Paris! read more
I came here a mere three hours after an absurdly big lunch at Barrafina so unfortunately I was too full to fully enjoy Sunday night roast here. But I thoroughly enjoyed what I did manage to stuff down... First off, I LOVED the bread here. I judge a lot of places by the bread they serve, and the loaf here is baked fresh, comes out warm, and is accompanied by this whipped butter spread. I was full but had half the loaf...moving on. My friend and I shared two apps and a Sunday roast (which is basically two slices of beef). I think they have some kind of special earlier in the night but sadly we came too late for that so had to order a la carte. For appls we got the chicken avocado salad and the beef tartare...the beef tartare was delicious and I thoroughly recommend it. The roast came with some kind of bread, potatoes, and sides of roasted vegetables. These were some real American sized portions! Anyway, solid spot for dinner, but definitely try to come earlier on Sunday to take advantage of the Sunday roast deal! read more
During a 6-week long business trip in London, I only ate at 2 restaurants I'd deem worthy of 5 stars and Dean Street Townhouse is one of them (the other being The Red Fort down the street). Came here with the lady and we enjoyed a phenomenal meal. The interior is gorgeous and quintessentially British. A large bar bustles with patrons sipping on custom cocktails served in a variety of crystal glassware and the dining room looks like one big stately living room you'd find at a massive rowhouse in Mayfair, or at least, what I'd envision it to look like. Tall candles adorn each table and the warm yellow hue emanating from them makes for a truly cozy and romantic decor. On to the best part: the food. As everyone else highlights, the Twice Baked Smoked Haddock Souffle is phenomenal. It's one of the most unique and delicious dishes I've EVER eaten. The idea of a souffle made of fish kind of grossed me out at first, but curiosity won the day and I ordered it. It was so rich and delicious, with a fantastic smoked flavor garnished with a creamy beurre blanc sauce w/ chives. Absolutely divine. Made better by the fact that you can use their fresh bread rolls to mop up the sauce. As an entree I had braised veal cheeks and they were also delicious. The lady had a salad to start and I can't remember her meal, but she was very pleased as well. Bottom line: if you're in Soho, or even if you're not, Dean Street Townhouse is a great restaurant that's worth visiting, especially with a date you're trying to impress, or just a really great meal with a good friend. A Dream. The best restaurants/bars/lounges are those that 'transport' you, and very rarely do such establishments achieve such a feat. Dean Street Townhouse is one of the Chosen Few, and has now become one of my favorite places in London. It's romantic, buzzy, and does "low-key glam" better than any place I've been in London. Gorgeous 20th Century artwork, plush lounge seating, deep red leather banquettes, seductive lighting- it's contemporary luxury at its best, an understated elegance with neither the pompous flash or stiff pretense that others possess. I go for the cocktails- all excellent. At £9.50 for high-end cocktails in a gorgeous venue, they're a true steal. --On My Last Visit: Maitre de Maison: Courvoisier Exclusif, Calvados, Dubonner, Maraschino, Ruby port, black walnut bitters Deep Purple: Bombay Sapphire, Chambord, beet shrub, raspberries, lemon, Jerry Thomas bitters, egg white I've yet to try the food but I've heard wonderful things- it's also a great afternoon tea spot as well. I really can't recommend this place enough; The Soho House team have truly made something special. read more
