Got to give a big shoutout to Deano and his new place in La Mesa. A friend and I dropped in the other evening to check out the new place. I had driven by it recently and noticed the significant facelift to the bar on the outside and wanted to see what had been done to the inside. Well, it looks great today and is going to get even better. We had planned to drop in and unwind after work with a drink, some pool, and possibly a Padre's win on TV, but we got even more. We got to meet "The Deano", the human dynamo/owner that worked all of the lighting, and sound and is driving all of the updates - from wall color to signage, to music. He is a nice, friendly guy who gave us the full story of his "new" place and what it will become - a fun local bar, with music, dancing, and activities for everyone. It's meant to be a friendly watering hole for everyone from soccer Moms and Dads, to neighbors, and anyone who wants to enjoy a drink, some fun banter, and unwind in a friendly, fun spot. So, if you are looking for a breather from our rat race, or want to play some pool, catch a game on TV, or even line dance, come check out Deanos and if you are lucky, you may run into the man himself! Came in early on a Thursday and had a few beers, owner and bartenders were super coo and of course beer was cold, I loved the set up and can't wait to come later on a Friday night to see the live band and the place packed, I am definitely returning again and highly recommend people to stop by. read more

The good:This place used to be Alibi... which was a nice place. Deano's is nice as well, and they did some good renovations to give it a new look. The bad: drinks are expensive. A Coke costs $4.00!!! A COKE. Pool tables are $1.00... music is about the same as everywhere else. The service is below par unless you're a regular there. I do like that they have a change machine near the pool tables. read more

Great new addition to La Mesa. I met the owner and he's a very down to earth guy. They've got pool, shuffleboard and a good selection of Beer. He's got a great setup for watching the games too. It's a sports bar as well so he has all the games going on. Deano really cleaned up the place and I'll be here often. I also love the fact it's diverse and open to everyone. Originally invited by a friend, but I'm so excited to come back for karaoke night Wednesday! The bartender was a sweetheart and knew when I needed a refill, I never had to call him over. The owner seems to know a lot of OGs and is the sound engineer from prior experience! Overall it feels like a family business in terms of everyone being close? I sat at the bar all night comfortable with the padding on the edges and front row seats to the two bands. There are 6 total tvs based on sports, 2 pool tables, and clean male and female bathrooms. Lots of parking and restaurants nearby. I noticed the last owner was "Alibi" with a ton of bad reviews. This is my first review ever because the place just blew my mind after seeing the old reviews. I can't say enough good things about Deano's pub!! Tim the bartender is awesome, Ashley (DJ Smash) is the best karaoke host ever, the patrons give nothing but good vibe, and the overall ambiance is warm and inviting!! I have been for karaoke several times, and I truly love this pub!!! Deano is super cool!! The drinks are yummy! There's a dance floor and the lighting is on point! Came here a couple times for football Sunday. Plenty of tv's showing all the games. Great Sunday drink specials. Free pool. Last Sunday we came in and there was complimentary nachos. Very cool ambiance and love the welcoming neighborhood vibe the staff gives you. Just found my go-to sports bar! read more

Deano and his wife served up a wonderful Thanksgiving meal for peeps who are alone for the holiday. It was wonderful. I found them to be kind, inclusive, fun and generous people. The pub is in great shape and they keep it very clean. I really enjoyed shooting pool on their well stocked and perfectly maintained tables.. and listening to music on the digital juke box. Owner came to me and singled me out while he was actively drinking in his own place. He asked me if I had been carded. If you want to have policies for people who look "young" have a bouncer or question your bar staff. Unprofessional to come up to someone who had already been there for hours, ordered drinks, and WAS CARDED at the bar. read more

If you ever run into the bartender with short blond hair. Just pass. My friends moved this guy's drink who we had just met, as a joke. She accused this guy my friends played a joke on of being drunk and and forgetting where he moved his drink while jacking the money he left on the bar while he went to the restroom after letting her know he had left to go to the restroom and would be back with his money below his glass. I did hear him say he would be right back to someone. It was not myself so I assume it was the bartender. I can't quote the amount he left because I didn't look. When he returned he asked where his drink had gone along with his money. She proceeded to tell him he was drunk and forgot where he put his drink and poured him another drink. When my friends finally revealed his drink the bartender got worked up and threw the new beer out indicating this poor guy had been drunk and forgot where he moved his drink and as a result she had taken his money as payment. Great service I will never be back for, being accused of lying when he wasn't lying. I pulled the owner aside and tried to explain he should roll footage to review with his employee to which he responded we only roll footage for serious things. She even accused me of not having seen what happened when I witnessed the event. I would frequent this location a couple times a week often until after tonight. If I could give a double 0 I would. A server shouldn't act the way she did at all. And the owner simply gave her a slap on the wrist and she was surely back to serving after that. No thanks. Count my money out. read more
