    Fish
    Ilona K.

I've bought the Russian-style fish from this store three times now, and every single time it's been rotten. The most recent one said it was packaged on August 6th, but as soon as I opened it, the smell was awful, the skin was peeling, and it was clearly spoiled. Definitely not safe to eat. This isn't the only issue. Last month I bought a bunch of groceries, and several of the items including chocolate bars and canned food were already expired. It seems like no one's checking dates on the shelves. Customer service isn't great either. Staff are usually in a bad mood, and the tall guy at the register has overcharged me more than once. I've even noticed things on my receipt that I didn't buy. I'll be returning the fish for a refund, but overall, this store needs to seriously improve how they handle food and treat customers.

    Strawberries

I stopped by this market because I happen to notice an eye catching deal for blueberries- $0.99 a box. Then I walked in and saw strawberries for $3.99 for a box. The blueberries were sweet. Not a disappointment. I didn't buy the raspberries, so not sure how they tasted.

Dean's Produce has a wide variety of European grocery items such as tea, coffee, pickled vegetables, bread, pastries, sauces, honey, sandwich meats, and cheese. The prices are reasonable for most items. There are some, but not many, organic products. The shelves are well stocked, and the store is clean.

Purchased yesterday on 3/31/25 and this dang thing expired months ago. $3.49 wasted.

Got a few chocolate bars yesterday and was gonna dig into one today and found that it expired almost 6 months ago.

Lovely local market that carries great produce, local bread, and lots of European goodies. I love coming here to pick up bread (all kinds such as focaccia and white bread) and bakery goods. Lots of good produce too. Fresh. They also have lots of Milka chocolate bars which are a favorite. There's a ton of biscuits and cookies from all over Europe, and neat jams and fruit preserves. I stock up on digestives and jaffa cakes here, it's the best. They also carry lots of teas and cool Greek frozen foods.

This was a great find in San Mateo!! I was in need of some vegetables before heading home, and this place just stood out!! Given the location, I was really surprised that the prices were so reasonable!! It's a pretty good sized market, very fresh vegetables along with other items. And the employees were very friendly, I would definitely come back here!!

When presented with options, try them all. :p

The impeccably laid out fruits which taste as good, if not better, when I actually got them home! These are pristine fruits. What beckoned me here are the hard to come by Early Girl tomatoes, which are now in season--my favorite, so much better than the heralded heirlooms, though Sign's have those too. I wandered around here in a daze, a semi mesmerized hypnotic fugue and stupor, staggering around totally delighted with every single thing. Thy do seriously carry it all, e.g. cheeses, prepared foods and burritos, tamales, pizzas plus all the fresh fruits and veggies I could dream up. Did I mention their pies asnd cakes plus other baked goods? They also have tons of dried fruits. I turned there corner and there on ice was sitting smoked salmon and packaged fresh salmon. I. Mean. Did I mention their chocolate covered cherries, which are my favorite confection, not too sweet with a bit of bitterness. As we were checking out, the cashier told us that if we were there before 5:pm, we could actually taste some of the fruits we were buying! Whaaaaat? Sold. The store is beautifully laid out, so. Much more than a typical grocery shop. The prices are fair, and btw., they have organic stuff too! Can't wait to go back for my addiction: their summertime peach balsamic vinegar. I put it on my slides every single night. They house make bottles and bottles of different balsamic vinegars, e.g. I bought their cucumber sumo, honey ginger, and lychee--those for my husband who loves those flavor profiles. They also let you sample them before you buy, which is such a thoughtful touch because the worst feeling is when I buy something from a place and get it home, only to discover I hate it. Their customer service is fire. Love love love--this is what makes living here such a treat.

All items looked good. Not sure if owner is Russian or European, but it's a unique place for visitors. These markets are more popular in streets of Paris, France and other parts of Europe. I loved the fruit prices and wide selections/so clean and organized with passionate employees enjoying their jobs. Cashier was quick and experienced. Box of $6.99 Russian coconut almond candy was very strong in flavor and coconut/nice! The box itself was beautiful too. Tempting. Chocolates were all outstanding from the box covers. Most quality goodies can be found for under $10 per box/pack. Under $15 range is pretty decent for larger items. Not bad for a good find on Valentine's Day. I'll revisit next time. Great impression so far.

Gourmet Corner makes it easy to enjoy real French food at home. They offer an impressive selection of French products, including sausages, charcuterie, salami, cheeses, wines, chocolates, cookies, and many other specialty items. The prices are very reasonable, and the ordering process is simple. After ordering online, I chose to pick up my order at their Campbell location. The process was simple and hassle-free. I recently purchased Raclette cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. In my opinion, it is the best Raclette I have found in the Bay Area. Today I picked up Boudin Noir along with some French sweets, and I am looking forward to trying them. What really stood out to me was the excellent customer service. The staff is incredibly friendly, responsive, and flexible. They went out of their way to help, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. For first-time visitors picking up an order at the Campbell location, the pickup location can be a little tricky to find. Look for the large building with the American Barbell gym at the entrance. Facing the building, there is a small entrance on the far right side with designated pickup parking spaces. Once you arrive, call to let them know you're there, and they will bring your order out to your car. One helpful tip: wine shipments arrive on Tuesdays and Fridays, while many of the other food items are typically kept in stock. After your order is confirmed, pickup is often available without having to wait specifically for those delivery days. I also learned that Gourmet Corner regularly participates in local farmers' markets throughout the Bay Area. It's always nice to support a small business that brings authentic French products directly to the community and helps people discover the flavors of France close to home. If you love French food, French culture, or simply want to recreate an authentic French meal at home, I highly recommend Gourmet Corner. Shopping here feels like stepping into a French gourmet market without leaving California. I'll definitely be ordering again very soon!
