After finishing my açaí bowl, I took a walk around the marketplace and was impressed by the variety of vendors. There were so many food options, including Chinese, Japanese, American, Mexican, and more. I decided to try the fried empanadas for the first time. I started with the cheese and spinach empanada, which was made fresh to order. The dough was thin, and the cheese and spinach filling was savory and flavorful. It was so good that I went back for more. The staff member was incredibly friendly and even offered me an extra empanada for free. I chose the beef flavor, and it did not disappoint. It was well-seasoned, flavorful, and generously filled. I also loved browsing the flower booths. The flowers were colorful and beautiful, with plenty of selections. Unfortunately, I arrived late and all of the potted plants had already sold out. Another big plus is the open seating area, which provides a comfortable place to sit, relax, and enjoy your food while taking in the lively atmosphere. Great food, friendly vendors, beautiful flowers, and a welcoming environment. I'm looking forward to coming back to explore more of the marketplace. :) read more

Pros: very walkable, right in the middle of town and next to many other shops. Lots of parks and seating surrounding the market. Cons: not too many vendors, parking can be nuts, can get very crowded. The only complaint is that it's a bit tight as everything is wedged into one street. My family was a big fan of the Focaccia Bread vendor - freshly baked focaccia bread in different flavors that is super soft and fluffy and amazing. This market is small and not worth going out of your way for. Overall, it's good if you're in the area, but parking is difficult, and it's mainly a block of stalls that are pricey and specialized. Some stalls: Flowers Hummus Cake Pops Strawberries Knife Sharpening Fresh meat and fish Chocolate Jams Vegetables In general, the specialty stalls will run you about $15 plus to buy their specialty products. There are hardly any food stalls except for dim sum, empanadas, hummus, bread, and Ube desserts. It was hard to find anything I would actually want to buy because it's so specific and pricey. It's disappointing to say this, but I feel like this farmers market has gone downhill in the last few years since Covid. The vendors aren't really that unique. I think they only have one pastry tent now, no more roasted chicken or other classics that used to be here. I feel like a lot of pop up clothing and knickknacks have popped off instead of fresh food or vegetables. People are nice, and whenever I'm in downtown Burlingame on a Sunday I do stop and check it out, but I definitely think san Mateo College and Los Gatos farmers market is a lot nicer. read more

A small Farmer's Market filled with fresh fruits and veggies and prepared foods. The balance of this market tends towards the latter: lots of prepared food vendors and food trucks. While the selection of fresh produce vendors is small, I found some gems. Special shout out to the delicious strawberries from Sunshine Organics. These small strawberries are bursting with sweetness. Multiple food trucks (Mexican, chowder, tamales, etc) One egg vendor and one cheese vendor. A variety of fruit and vegetables. Imported Baklava and other boxed treats. Cons: Dogs if you don't like dogs. The street is very narrow, and stalls are on both sides, so there is not a ton of space. It may feel a bit more claustrophobic that most other open markets. I like perusing different city's farmer's markets to see if there's anything different or exciting that others do not. We know most have produce but i like looking for ready-made food items which this one did not...they did have hummus, a pastry and babinka bites vendor (oh different!) which sounded really interesting but not a fan in general... Of course, sister was bummed i didn't get her any...Oh well, next time as they did look yum. Overall, nice little neighborhood farmer's market but nothing stood out or different from others. Burlingame is a very dog-friendly city and almost a requirement while dining out for breakfast. You see them all along the Avenue and like a doggie parade...soooo cute! Love this farmer's market. Right off Burlingame Ave. Many vendors have been there for over a decade. There's meat, fish, veggies, flowers, honey, eggs,orchids, soap, jewelry and our favorite booth is Peace Love Plant. It's at the far end. Best priced succulents $2.50 - $5, and super healthy. They also have a beautiful selection of indoor plants, air plants, hanging plants, cactus and lots of arrangements. Their booth is big (double the size of other vendors). They get really busy after 11am so come early. There is usually 2-3 people working and they all know a lot about the plants and will tell you everything you need to know. They are super helpful. If you are a plant lover you will fall in love! read more

It gets a little crowded and doesn't have as extensive a selection as you'd expect for the location, so I'd give it 3.5 stars. I round up to 4 because of J & M Ibarra Farms and Bay Bread (which is only available at this market and Palo Alto, which makes Burlingame somewhat special). Great little market to spend your Sunday mornings. They have so many flower stands and yummy desert stands.

Smelling and seeing the fresh, vibrant, red strawberries is what I will remember most about my trip to the Farmer's Market this morning. Really cool stuff here; veggies, fruits, bread, cheese, great selection of pastries and other sweets, and lots of fresh cut flowers. What I liked most was the bread dip stand (olive oil with balsamic vinegar and herbs). Would totally love to come back here again soon :-)! read more

I love Farmers Markets. I'm a little undecided on this place. Not much of a variety, but at the same time I love that there wasn't crowds of people. I'd go here if I was in the neighborhood, but wouldn't make a trip out of it. Maybe about 4 booths of fruits and veggies, of course, yummy kettlecorn, pretty orchids, fresh baked goods. This farmer's market is pretty big and very nice. I like to come on Sundays. They close the streets when the market is on. I know it's better to buy local but I can blow through $30 in like 10 mins at this place so I don't come often. Although with that money, I can get 3 baskets of 100% nature sugary sweet organic strawberries, a couple baskets of really sweet cherry tomatoes, and a couple pounds of nectarines, peaches, in both white and yellow. My favorite vendor is a jewelry designer named Peggy Li. She is here at the market and has a great selection of cool jewelry. Go check her out or online at http://www.peggyli.com. As I've frequented this market more, I always get my free sample of kettle corn cause it's awesome. There are a couple seafood vendors here, fresh and smoked. There's the roli roti rotisserie chicken guy who is super nice and makes a mean roasted chicken with potatoes, pig knuckles, and also sells chicken broth. You can smell this down the street and the line is always long so come early so you aren't left out of the yummy juicy chicken goodness. There is also a bee booth that I enjoy, you see different bee keepers here because they share the booth with their co-op but the honey is always local, fresh, flavorful, and some even have small super cute plastic honey bear sizes, so cute! There's the Lazy H Ranch farm fresh eggs and if you get there early enough, you can ever get the blue eggs. There's a handmade pasta booth called Mattarello which makes the most beautiful fresh pasta. These are just some of the wonderful vendors at the Burlingame Fresh Market on Sundays. I love this farmers market. Small and perfect. Not every vendor can get in. We keep finding something new every weekend we go and yes we go every weekend. A quick run there and we don't have to worry about parking. Parking- can be hard to find if it's prime season but typically within a few blocks at most. Go-tos: 1) Lolita's - empanadas are $4 each but so worth it. Get there early just don't take my stash ;). They run out fast. Their other desserts are also surprisingly delish as well. Get the Oreo looking item... 2) spinach scones!! Oh shoot I forgot the name, but the very nice lady who knows me by now and saves me one every time since we do get there so late. 3) hummus and garlic chips. It took us awhile to go but three items for $15 is a steal and sample as many as you'd like. They are all so good. Those pita garlic chips and the best! He's even just thrown in a few leftovers from tasting at the end. 4) in January it's oranges. In October it's persimmon. It's just so good!!! Where else can you hoard persimmons before the season is done. 5) fruit stand with strawberries blueberries black and raspberries. Blueberries are always the first to go so again get there early. 6) to cover all the bases, the vegetable stand where he's hollering, $2 for 5 (mushrooms), $3 for 6 (spinach kale) "mix and match" he proceeds. A tiny farmer's market that you can walk the entire length in a minute! They did have some really big and yummy peaches this past weekend. I do feel a bit ripped off. The guy was shouting $2/lb, so I walked up and picked up 1 peach to buy. It came out to be like 0.7 lbs. Most places I've gone to, the vendor would just round it down or something, so I expected to be charged like $1.50, but instead, he said $2 for a peach! I was paying more than $2/lb then! boo! Oh, and the empanada place had empanadas that tasted like flattened croissants. They were way too buttery. read more

The Burlingame Farmer's Market is on Sunday's from around 8am to 1pm. This is my favorite farmer's market because of the location. I love getting fresh produce and tasty treats before enjoying brunch on Burlingame Avenue. At the front end of the market you'll find organic fruits and vegetables. All of the produce is locally grown, and oftentimes you will find certain vegetables or fruits that you wouldn't see at the grocery store. During the spring and summer, I highly recommend buying a pint of blueberries or a flat of strawberries, as well as juicy peaches and nectarines. The vendors constantly cut up fresh fruit and put it out for everyone to enjoy. In addition to fresh produce, there are also dried fruits, nuts, juices and ciders. As you continue walking through the market, you'll see all sorts of stands, some selling bouquets of flowers, others selling handmade cards, wood carvings, or dog treats. There are lots of ethnic food stands, such as an empanada stall, a hummus stall, a Mediterranean food service, Indian roti stall, etc. They are always eager to give out free samples. My favorite stands to stop by are the dessert ones. The young man selling pies insisted on giving us samples of 6 different pies (sweet potato, pecan, chocolate cream, etc.) We also tried freshly made caramels, homemade nut butters, Filipino bibingka, and mini cheesecake. My mom likes to get a cup of coffee and a freshly baked pastry to enjoy while strolling through the market. At the very back end is the kettle corn stall, and we always make sure we leave with a $5 bag of kettle corn. Sweet, salty, hot, and perfectly crunchy, the kettle corn is seriously addicting! Prices can be on the higher side for a lot of the products, but keep in mind that everything is grown/made locally and by hand. The vendors are extremely friendly and love giving out samples even if you end up not purchasing anything. The Burlingame Farmer's Market is a great place to spend your Sunday morning. read more

I was absolutely appalled by the amount of plastic bags I saw provided and willingly used at this farmers' market. NO, not the green compostible plastic bags, just your standard plastic bag that will likely end up in the ocean, then in some fish's stomach and therefore probably in your body. I did not even witness anyone attempting to reuse plastic bags or, better yet, using their own washable muslin bags. What is this Texas??? Burlingame can and should demand better of the vendors and the customers. The Portland Farmers' market sells the muslin bags for $1/each. read more

The Burlingame Farmer's Market is a relatively small farmer's market compared to the other ones along the Peninsula. Though small, there's some produce vendors, and lots of prepared food vendors selling breads, pastries, kettle corn, Indian food, Afghan food, Russian food, fish, and other ethnic food vendors. The day I visited, there seems to more prepared food vendors than produce vendors. What I like about this market is its location, and the day of the week its open. Located on Park Road and Burlingame Avenue, and open on Sundays it's the perfect for strolling on a Sunday morning or early afternoon after having breakfast or brunch along Burlingame Ave. Prices are on par with other Farmer's Markets. I still like the larger San Mateo Farmer's Market, with it's larger choices of produce and food vendors, but the Burlingame market is more quaint, complementing well with the downtown businesses. read more

Caramel corn, garlic fries, shaved ice drinks, bratbursts, Widmer beer, corn dogs, and every kind of vendor you can imagine...all on sun-drenched Burlingame Ave. It's a family-friendly (and animal-friendly) event. There is a whole section for kids with face painting and kid-friendly rides (even for toddlers). Lots of folks bring their fashionably-dressed tiny pooches for a stroll along the farmer's market to visit one of the many pet supply vendors. I also saw an area with live performances and tables (with shady umbrellas) where you can take a break or eat your food. And compared to SF, parking is not that difficult - just be prepared to circle around the area for a bit. Bring your appetite, your wallet, and some sunscreen! read more

Perhaps they're trying to step up their game or maybe the 2-3 month hiatus did a number on my memory... Either way, I've been coming back the last few weekends and am happy with the results. This time around, I purchased a small carton of raspberries (what I'm told, the last of the season!), as well as some yummy looking squash of various sizes/shapes/colors. Can't wait to roast those bad boys for dinner! Also on the menu this week was a small bag of crispy, fresh green beans. There's nothing I hate more than waxy beans or strings in my teeth. These were perfect and I'll be seeking out that vendor again on Sunday. Is it the largest market in the Peninsula? Nope! Do they have Manresa bread? Sadly, no. I'm a sucker for farmer's markets. I just love the outdoor environment, the fact that the sellers know a lot about their products (something you can rarely get from supermarket aisle clerks), and the fresh, vibrant and friendly atmosphere that's devoid from your normal supermarket. The Burlingame one has a huge variety of vendors where you can get really good bread (from brioche burger buns to sourdough), farm fresh veggies, flowers and the sweetest fruits. I'm in love with the little boy who gives out samples of white peaches! He's so cute and very polite as he approaches each customer asking if they'd like a sample. Oh and the peaches are MAD good. I love them. Don't forget to get some strawberries as well -- they go well with granola and yogurt and are sooo sweet. The produce is excellent. If you're crazy about eggplants, there's this one stand with about five different kinds of eggplants - from Chinese to Filipino to Italian to American, you'd be amazed at all the different kinds. While picking up produce, they also have really cheap pre-washed and dried organic salad greens (red lettuce, romaine, etc) for only about $2 for a big bag. The "salmon stand" is also good. They owner usually gives samples of his smoked salmon which btw is really delicious. What won me over was his smoked salmon pate. It's out of this world and great on crackers or on crostinis (thin slices of toasted bread). It's $5 for a decent sized container, which I think is a steal considering the awesome taste and different options that you can do with it. I also get my flowers here. I got some stargazer lilies for $3.50 and a bunch of random pretttty floral things (which I forgot the name of) for $3. Put them together in a vase and you have an arrangement that could easily cost upwards of $20 at a flower shop. This farmer's market is really expensive. Came here with my brother and an old high school/middle school friend after running the Bay to Breakers. Burlingame was also hosting a green fair that day, so we felt it would be a nice way to spend the afternoon. What we found was a very small row of produce vendors selling fruit and veggies at exorbitant prices (1 dollar for a single oroblanco, and it wasn't even organic!). The one redeeming quality of this farmer's market is that Boulangerie Bay Bread comes to this one! They easily make the best bread in the bay area. No joke. Visit them on Pine St. in the city and just try and prove me wrong. read more

Smallest farmer's market evar! This farmer's market is tiny. If I really want to get produce, I drive up to College of San Mateo on Saturday - that's a true quality operation. However, there are some niches here that make it good: 1) I can walk here. This is personal. Likely you cannot. And likely I will not be able to soon. But still, for a neighborhood institution, it's nice to have around. 2) Brioche Bakery - their variety is bigger at the San Mateo market, but there are plenty of delicious yummies to eat here. 3) Salmon Stand - smoked salmon, yum! The produce is basically, you take what you are given, or you go some place else. There have been plenty of times where I had to walk over to Mollie Stone's afterwards to get some specific item I wanted. That's the breaks. read more

Macadamia nuts are the new celery. I think it takes more calories to crack those suckers that you get by consuming them. I found unshelled macadamia nuts at this small, (one block) farmers market that runs from May to November, every Sunday from 9 to 1. You can find Bay Breads here for a morning pastry fix and bread for the week as well as maybe a dozen fruit and vegetable stands. I ignore the jewelry and knick knack stands which thankfully spill over out of the way into the adjacent parking lot. It's small, but if you missed the other markets in the area, it could give you your weekly farmers market fix at sort of reasonable prices. read more

I was pretty disappointed in this farmers market so this is borderline 2.5 stars. There isn't anything wrong with it per se, but I just expect FAR better when you compare it to other markets in the area. But maybe that's why it was a pretty small one, because there are already some many great markets close by in the other towns in the area. There were your typical produce vendors and a few unique companies selling honey and breads and pastries. Down at the end of the street there were some pretty cool vendors selling empanadas, seafood, and some great packaged mediterranean food (falafels, couscous, ect). All in all it's a decent market, but if you are willing to travel a little bit I would hit up one of the other markets in the area or make the trek to SF. read more

this is a nice alternative to the BIG saturday one at CSM. i missed my perennial trip to CSM yesterday so i decided to visit burlingame instead of belmont today (sunday). it is definitely a smaller one. the kettle corn guy was there. of course. also there were the other usual suspects: the hummus guy, Ibarra farms, the honey lady, the flower guy, the blueberry guy, rodriguez farms with their amazing strawberries, homemaid raviolis, etc. there was only one stand with asian produce. i went in specific need of bok choy but this farmer's were already rotting, or maybe just refrigerator burned. if you need asian produce on a sunday go to the belmont one instead. my vote is still for CSM on saturdays where you have more vendors and quality to choose from but this will do in a pinch. read more
