Dean's Village Laundromat - Laundromat Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

Needed to launder a king-sized comforter (about 2" thick and poly-filled). Saw that this laundromat had decent reviews and it was nearby one of my favorite lunch spots. Arrived around 11:30a Sunday. Establishment is clean and well lit with a handful of chairs/benches (not enough for a busy day). Approx 8-10 loads were running, equivalent to 1/3 of the machines with just 4-5 people milling about. All machines take only quarters but there are two bill-changers on the back wall that will convert $5; $10; and even $20 bills to quarters. Our front loading washer/dryer at home are "large" capacity but could never handle a king comforter. So, every fall this task looms. Various detergents can be purchased in single serving sizes from a wall mounted vending machine for $1/each but we brought our own. "Standard" washing machines at laundromats are small - a typical at-home front loader would be the equivalent of a 3x laundromat machine. At Dean's those run $5/load. To accommodate our comforter we used the 6x machine ($8). They go up one more size (to 8x?) and those cost $11/load. Note: these are cold water prices, warm water is +50c (I forgot to ck the hot water up-charge). All machines have soap and softener dispensers that you pre-fill. If you want to add bleach you need to wait until the machine prompts you to add bleach to the (now empty) soap dispenser midway through the cycle. The 6x that we used finished the wash in about 30 minutes-ish (we left to grab a bite at Buendia Cafe 5 blocks south during the wash). We were pleased that the spin cycle got ALL the heavy wetness out. There's also a Goodwill store directly across the street as another option to kill time. There's ample parking in their private lot. I don't know dryer costs because we took comforter home to our large dryer and to save time. The only negatives: There is no on-site attendant; no one answers their phone (I just wanted to know cost and wash times); and there is no small sink so if you got dirt or soap on your fingers... you're SOL so make sure you have a small water bottle. Naturally, with no attendant there are no bathrooms either (understandably for safety reasons). read more

No one ever answers, no way to leave a message. Also sent an email and was told would get a response in 48 hours. Never happened. This is ridiculous. I want my money back. read more

I have had better experiences at a grungier laundromat in Tucson. This place is very clean and appears to be well maintained; however I had problems with several machines. The first washer I tried took half the cost of a load and would not take any more or give back what I put in. During the course of my visit an employee came in and did refund my lost money. Next, a front load washer I used did not properly spin the load and when I emptied the machine a while lot of water came out of the clothes and created a small flood on the floor. I had to re-run the clothes in another washer to spin the water out...spending $1.75 The dryers took forever to dry the clothes so I had to keep feeding them quarters. read more

Dean's Village Laundromat is one of the nicest laundromats we have been to. Dean's Village Laundromat was clean and well ventilated. The machines appeared clean and in good repair. There were plenty of laundry supplies and snacks for customers to buy in addition to a multitude of machines. There as a nice seating area, small side yard, and it was nice to see a recycling container, in addition to trash receptacles). The nicest aspect of Dean's Village Laundromat was seeing an employee there wiping the machines. So many laundromats do not appear to regularly wiped down by either the customers or employees. (ew) Not only did every machine I used here appear free of grime, but I saw an employee with a rag wiping things off. If you are in the area and in need of a nice place to do your laundry, look no further than here. read more

Visiting Tucson and needed to do laundry. Used the commercial size washer and dryer hoping to save time and money. $8 for the wash (24 minutes). Clothes clean but left wet enough that the dryer ($0.25 for 7 minutes) didn't dry when tumbled for 28 minutes so I ran for another 14 minutes at which point about 3/4s off the load was dry; removed those items and ran for another 7 minutes for a total of $1.75. By comparison, when I used a laundromat in different town last weekend, the washer ran slightly longer at 35 minutes but cost around $6 and the dryer got everything dry in 15 minutes for a price of $1.25. Ok, it's a laundromat and when I think of laundromats I get the hebbie jebbies. I needed to wash and dry my giant winter blanket and they dry cleaner was going to take a month (seriously?). So I ventured out and checked out a few laundromats and some freaked me out but this place was nice. There's a playground and patio, a waiting area, they wash-n-fold, and it's not creepy! The triple load washers are brand new and are only $3.25. The dryers are $0.50 for 13 minutes so it's about a buck to dry a load maybe $2.00 for the comforters. The staff is nice and they are happy to Make change but they don't accept credit cards. It's cash only. If you're in need of a clean laundromat this is your place. read more

I came to Dean's to launder a couple large comforters that were to big for my washing machine. They have a 6X washing machine there for $8 was able to accommodate both of the comforters in the same load (24 min). Another 30 min in their industrial dryers and I was done and out of there. The thing is, in my haste I forgot my laptop bag with my $2000 laptop sitting on the ground next to the dryers when I left. When I finally figured it out, 2 hours had passed and I thought for sure the bag and all my important school work was gone forever. To my pleasant surprise, I came back and it was sitting right where I left it. I credit deans and its 24 hr camera surveillance. I have been coming here now for almost a year to do my laundry and I am now a big fan of this salon. A couple of updates: the WiFi now works without any problems. But they removed the vending machines from the waiting room. They now have free use of downy balls that you can use for fabric softener dispensing. Also, what I didn't mention in my last review is that they have a bathroom for customers here and a big sink with soap and paper towels in the main area where you can wash your hands if you, say, spilled bleach on your hands or something. read more

Actually came here off Danielle R's review... Clean. Friendly. Pleasantly surprised (esp on account of the location). Wash and fold service and a good number of machines as well. Change machine with little cups to hold your coins in - maybe this is common - I'm not hip on the laundromat scene. But, not a one of the laundry facilities I frequented when I lived in Long Beach, Ca (the city from all my laundromat experience derives) had such a thoughtful, smart offering for their patrons. "Waiting room" with chairs, basic vending, a take-a-book, bring-a-book rack (which is all currently magazines but no matter), and some plastic children's toys. Granted, I can't imagine being here with a number of children loudly playing with toys, but I went on a weekday morning and there was only one other client present the whole time I was there (about an hour and a half). There are laundry facilities in my apartment complex but it is mildly inconvenient. I'm excited to find such a great back up. I would recommend this place to my mother, the laundry goddess herself, so I would absolutely recommend it to you, too. read more

I went to this laundry mat because it looked cute and quaint. It looked pretty clean on the inside, and that's important to me. What keeps me going back to a good laundry is when my clothes really come clean. Nothing worse then having them come out dirtier then they were. I'm very careful not to over load the machines either. My issues here, 2 machines stopped when they were full of water, and I had to remove the soaked my wet items and start over in other machines. Owners came in to close up and told me I had obviously overloaded the machines, but they would refund my money before I left, and then I never saw them again. I wasn't happy with the customer service, the machines, the cost. The only thing I did like was the outside patio, but I won't be going back. read more

Awesome laundromat: Clean, organized, super friendly staff, and not busy for a Sunday night. I thought I'd have to wait or there would be sketchy people but NO! The place was superclean and the staff there even gave it an extra rub down when it probably was not needed. I am new to the neighborhood and had managed to ignore my laundry for a surprising length of time. I came into Dean's a couple of saturdays ago and had a great experience. I loved the welcoming building details and bright purple color. It was also one of the cleanest laundromats I have been to in a while. I wasn't able to get the wifi to work, but I believe that was user error on my part. Didn't matter anyway, because I didn't have to wait for a machine (plenty of choices) I was in and out before I "needed" it. I like that they have toys and a play area (inside and out) for kids and a bring a book, take a book library. It was an easy and and pleasant experience. read more

They no longer have attendants here. They have changed the snacks and drinks in to a vending machine. They had a punch card for frequent users but I would imagine no longer do as there is no one there to punch the card for you. Otherwise, everything is pretty much the same here as far as cleanliness, playground, indoor waiting area, etc. read more

Not a fair review but Tucson sucks as Laundromat convince. Great location to make lots of money. Relocating, as a travel rn, I could invest 3g to make this place much more inviting. The place is homely and drab. Machines are not clean nor designated by what my needs are. Low lighting, no wash basin, not a spritz to rinse soap cup. I used this laundromat a couple times. The first time things went well. The next time, I spent TONS of money doing "spring cleaning". I used the majority of a $20.00 bill on wash cycles alone. One of the washers that I had deposited $2.25 into failed to empty out the water. It just so happened that the couple who owned the laundromat had wandered in to do routine maintenance and collect money from the bill changer. I approached the male owner and explained my problem. He looked in to the machine and said that that was "the normal amount of water left in the machine". Trust me, all the other washers in which I had clothing and blankets did not have an inch or two of water in the bottom. So I took a shirt out and wrung the water on to the floor. The male then said he would refund extra quarters for the dry cycle. His wife, however, got angry that I was "making an extra mess". The two of them then slunk out the side door in order to avoid giving me a few quarters. They did not even bother to put an "out of order" sign on the machine. So, not only did I not get my quarters back, but I was the one who had to label the machine as out of order so that other patrons didn't get ripped off. In a time crunch I took my laundry here for the wash-and-fold service. Being extremely particular about my laundry, I was nervous about doing this, but I needed clean clothes and had no time. I could not be happier. The staff are friendly and courteous, and the facility is clean and well maintained. Additionally, they do not charge extra to separate whites and colors/darks (which other places do), are cheaper than other places I thought about going, charge less per pound for larger loads, and give a discount to University of Arizona students. On top of all of that, I can tell my clothes were washed just how I asked, nothing was lost or shrunk, and was folded nicely waiting for me within 1.5 hr from when I dropped it off. I definitely plan on returning to this laundromat. read more

Still, I am always impressed with how friendly they are and that everything is very clean and well maintained. The price is great! My comforter is fluffy, clean, and smells nice for $10. I tried Dean's laundry for the first time today. I had been doing my laundry elsewhere and was quite dissatisfied. The attendant (sorry I didn't get her name) was so helpful, explaining all the washing machines and dryers to me. She was so nice and polite and so knowledgable. Dean's is very clean. The have a nice patio areas with tables to wait while your clothes are washing. They also have a frequent flyer program. I will definitely be doing my laundry there all the time. I urge you to give it a try. You will not be disappointed! read more

sadly this place has really gone downhill. there's no TV in the waiting room anymore there is no attendant you can't get into the bathroom ....and all of the washers that I set to warm or hot water when I check them the water was cold. you actually have to pay more money to get hot water so.... there's no phone number listed anymore for the location I had to email regarding trying to get a refund. Today I went to Deans Laundromat like I have been doing for the past 2 months. I have always had a pleasant time and well not today. I had been washing my 6 loads of clothes and had them all in the dryer. I have witnessed prior to this time numerous others leave their clothes in the dryer when they have more than one and I try to fold each load when they come out and move to the next. Well a group of women came in who want to dry only so the owner took it upon himself to dump out my clothes so that they could use them, had he simply inquired about who the clothes belong to I would have done it myself. He was rude and said he didnt care I had been there washing and drying my clothes because he was the owner and could do so. Least to say I was upset and will never return! So beware if you wash and dry your clothes here because if the owner is working he will take them out without asking because he can! This is the best laundromat I have been to in Tucson. It's very clean and pleasant. There's a good magazine collection in the waiting room (New Yorker, Smithsonian, Science, Archaeology, etc). There's a nice outdoor seating area with picnic tables. The sign leading outside indicates that it is a "playground," but there's no playground equipment. Some nice kids played soccer for a while though. If I lived closer this would definitely be my regular laundromat. read more

By far, one of the best laundromats I have been in. Very very clean, all machines are in working order, nice little lounge and outside patio to sit while you wait. Plenty of folding table space and they even provide tennis balls (for drying large blankets) and fabric softener pods for your use. Will definitely recommend and will come back. read more

Since there are no longer any assistants in the store at all opening hours, the toilets are not available either to the handicapped or to other folks except when two assistants waltz in at whatever time they please. I believe that the law says that such businesses are required to provided toilet facilities to the handicapped, and it may be the case that the new policy of not having a toilet available except whenever the assistants swan in may be a violation of this law. It also says something about a business that doesn't trust its customers enough to leave the toilet unlocked when the assistants are not there watching how the customers use these facilities. It obviously says that the owner(s) or manager(s) think that their customers are complete pigs. The assistants come round a few times a day, and stay 10 mins max each time. They will not tell you when they expect to come in next, and they leave for several hours in between. A customer has to run to the Goodwill opposite the laundromat or to the restaurant next door to use their facilities. Frankly, this is unacceptable. When I complained about this, the assistants' attitude was definitely a "who cares?" one. It's not as if this place is cheaper than other places, or offers anything that its competitors do not, and so there's no actual reason to use this business rather than another.
