Had an awesome time at Dear Irving. We recently celebrated a friend's birthday here. We were kindly greeted when we entered and directed to the elevator leading to the event space. DI reserved an area between the bar and patio for the event. Enough room for our party to gather and not impede on other patrons. I found all of the staff to be very professional and attentive while very busy. The menu has a variety of small bite options, which was shared amongst the group. Everyone seemed to enjoy them, suggesting one another to try this or that. The bartenders/ mixologists were on their A game. The drink menu is pretty extensive and from what I could see, our party choices ranged from wines to whisky's and several options between. I was here for an event, so didn't order entrees/mains. We did have some appetizers and finger food, which wasn't the tastiest...the best thing there were probably the lobster rolls and sliders. The drinks were very delicious, though! The bartenders were nice and made the drinks very quickly. There was one who was consistently friendly, as opposed to the blonde lady there. On my birthday eve, I went to Dear Irving so I could stay out til midnight in style. It didn't disappoint. Go up the elevator to the 5th floor and you are welcomed into a dark upholstered room with interesting drinks and people watching galore. I had the Dunes of Bani, which, as promised, tasted like a spicy mango candy. From the hostess to our server, everyone was absolutely lovely! Perhaps my only quibble is that my husband was charged for a refill of his coke and when the soda clearly came from a beverage gun and was flat. Regardless, I would return next time I'm in town. I have been trying to come here for a few months but never made it until finally last weekend, we met some friends visiting from out of town here and I'm so glad we went. We had an amazing time! We sat in the lounge area out some doors from the bar, but not "outside" outside. We had a nice view of 54th and Broadway and the giant electronic billboard across the street made me feel like I was in "Blade Runner". Service was top notch from the time we walked in downstairs until we left. Just a super professional and extremely competent staff. Every person was on point. Our food and drinks came out in a timely manner all night. The cocktails and food were also good. I had the Deacon Blues and it's definitely one of my favorite drinks now. I also loved the pastrami, the hummus, the buffalo cauliflower and especially the sliders. Additionally, the place is gorgeous. I love the design and the comfort of the entire place. Definitely recommend coming here. It's a great place to celebrate a special occasion or just hang out with people you like! read more

My friends and I were looking for somewhere semi close to our hotel for a last round of drinks on the night before we left. We looked at Yelp and found Dear Irving was close and looked nice. Lucky for us when we showed up they were able to take us up and seat us right away. The server immediately told us that it was last call and then walked away which freaked us out and made us crackup. He came back fast and got our orders. Drinks were good and so was the pretzel and french fries we ordered. Nice, more upscale vibe. read more

This was my first time at this location but I've been to the other two locations. In terms of ambience and cocktails this was on par with the other locations. The outdoor space is lovely and the elevator situation is much better than the one at the 42nd street spot where you may have to wait 10-15 minutes for the elevator up or down. The service was okay but our server seemed over extended. We were trying to get his attention to get our check for a while but luckily the manager saw us and helped us himself. I still think the Irving Place location is my favorite but I would come back here again. It's great for a post theater cocktail or to take out of town guests for a lovely ambiance. read more

We've been trying to get a reservation at Dear Irving on Broadway for a while, and it was totally worth the wait! The location is great and easy to get to. We sat both inside and outside -- both areas have their own charm. We came with friends visiting from out of town, and everything started off perfectly. I had some non-alcoholic drinks that were actually amazing (which isn't always the case at bars!). After our friends left, we decided to stay longer for some bites, and the food did not disappoint. The pastrami, hummus, buffalo cauliflower, and sliders were all excellent. The service was on another level -- every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and just really professional. Our food and drinks came out smoothly the whole night, and everyone seemed to genuinely enjoy what they were doing. The place itself is beautiful -- stylish but still cozy and comfortable. This cocktail lounge is on the 5th floor of the courtyard Marriott. It's stunning. There's even some outdoor seating. I had a Gibbie Highball and it was refreshing. We shared a cheese plate which was great and had some nice crackers and jam served with it. My friend had the Muse drink which was very good. I would try that next time, Service was decent. The music blasting in the lounge makes it hard to get a servers attention when needed. We sat a while trying to get someone to give us the check. ADA accessible as you take an elevator up to the space. There are bathrooms near the entrance upstairs. Overall, cool cocktail lounge and would come back. read more

Finding a good cocktail bar in NYC is not that difficult for most, but I find that my friend and I have become a bit of cocktail snobs lately, as we always look for something specific during our travels. We are tequila and mezcal drinkers so a lot of places, we've found lately, so not have as big of mezcal selections. This was the exception. We wanted to go to the location that wasn't in such a touristy area, but it was so cold that we didn't wanna walk so we just did this location. The aesthetic is super warm and takes you to somewhere luxurious and almost even tropical with the light shades and all. The bartenders are actual mixologists so if you tell them what you're thinking of, they'll likely be able to execute. Our bartenders were very attentive and enthusiastic in creating the drinks we had in mind. All we had to do was give them a brief idea and we got these wonderful drinks back. I wish I had pictures, but the drinks were flowing and the conversation was so good. We were thoroughly impressed. We were the only party seated inside and it took at least 10-15 min for the waiter to take our order. The other staff were also not very friendly. Dear Irving has multiple locations in NYC with Broadway being their newest; some friends had raved about how classy the place was and that they were throwing a New Year Eve celebration, having had drinks at the downtown location my boyfriend and I were excited to see how the evening would play out. The tickets were $195 dollars each, however, this included an open bar and appetizers (not a bad deal at all) we were concerned that the tickets would be over sold and we would not be able to get a drink at the bar, this was not the case... the evening was spectacular! We were able to get a table on the outer perimeter of the restaurant and the bar was easily accessible! The appetizers were very good (here is a quick list of what they served): - lobster rolls - smoked salmon bites - mushroom balls - vegetarian potstickers - deep fried goat cheese - pigs in a blanket - hamburger sliders There may have been more, but I lost track after all of that. The staff was very sweet and accommodating, no one seemed stressed out or overwhelmed considering how many people they had to attend to. I visited Dear Irving on Broadway recently, and overall the experience was mixed--especially compared to Dear Irving on Hudson, which I've consistently enjoyed more. First visit: The drinks were honestly quite watery, and the overall cocktail balance didn't feel as polished. One detail that really stood out was the ice quality: the cubes were not crystal clear, which usually signals lower density and faster dilution. In a cocktail bar at this level/price point, that matters a lot for both texture and flavor. After I left a review, the owner/management reached out with a thoughtful message and invited me back to give the venue another try (thank you for that). So I returned. Second visit (follow-up): There was an improvement with one drink: the Deacon Blues was served with a clear, dense large cube this time--exactly what I'd expect. It melts slower and doesn't water down the drink as quickly, which definitely helps. However, the Gibbie Highball still came with opaque small cubes instead of the clear long highball ice spear/stick that many good speakeasies use. The difference is huge: small cubes melt much faster and change the drink quickly. You can really see it in the glass--by the end of the drink, the small cubes had almost fully melted while the large cube was still mostly intact. (See my photos.) That faster dilution makes the highball feel thinner and less crisp. Taste / balance notes: * Deacon Blues: I'm someone who loves smoky flavors, but the smoke here came across with a spicy/peppery "heat" that didn't integrate smoothly with the bourbon. Instead of rounding out the whiskey, it slightly fought it, and the balance felt a bit sharp. * Gibbie Highball: The finish had a noticeable sugar-free soda bitterness--a strong artificial sweetener/zero-sugar aftertaste that really lingered and distracted from the overall profile. Overall: Both cocktails were mid-level for me--drinkable, but not memorable--and the ice/dilution choices (especially for the highball) are still holding the experience back. I appreciate the hospitality and the invitation to return, and I can see the potential, but I'm hoping Broadway can reach the same consistently polished standard as the Hudson location. Had a great experience - the space is lovely - modern & nice. The service was good but it wasn't that busy anyway. Something that impressed me, I dropped my knife, didn't think anyone even noticed it. Within minutes they brought me a new set without me having to ask. The food was tasty. We were hungry and didn't realize they don't have full food menu. But the snacks & appetizers were good portions, tasty and satisfying. We got: - Tempura cauliflower: loved it! One of my fav. It had great flavor, definitely had a kick but one of the best cauliflower dishes I've had. - Tempura shrimp: not your typical one but tasty, again with a spicy sauce. Enjoyed it. - Sliders: when they brought it I didn't think it's gonna be so great but it tasted really good. - Crispy rice & tuna: another favorite. The crispiness of the rice & the tube creates the perfect texture & balance. Loved it. - Ahi tuna & salad: enjoyed the greens. So, let's say I've got a friend, and this friend wanted to bring a guy she's been dating to this place because she heard it has a sexy, date night feel. And let's also say that this place serves food and drinks that help set the mood for a very good night. And let's also say that this friend was so relaxed and turned on by the restaurant that she and this new guy start getting a little closer and a lot friskier. Also, I heard they have a very nice bathroom. Update: Ok, I came back on 12/23 hoping to have a very cute pre-holiday grown and sexy. Unfortunately, our server was not very attentive and it took forever for our drinks and food to come out. When the food finally came out, the shrimp were cold and French fries came out almost 15/20 minutes after the first plates. I requested an additional beverage and was told last call had been called (no one ever told us). I really want to continue to come here, but the service tonight was not great. I've lowered my five stars to four, but I know I'll come again because it continues to be a super cute rooftop so close to my job. read more

I've visited Dear Irving on Broadway twice recently for after work events. I unfortunately had to leave early the first time, but I went back tonight and was pleased with the experience. I've visited the Hudson location before and apart from the glaring Times Square sign shining through the window, the Broadway location feels more modern. It offers a varied vibes throughout (there's a dimly lit area, an outdoor patio, the bar, high tops, a large group table). I've personally only been at the large group table, which works great for our group that likes to order lots of bites! We tried several menu items-- the Mediterranean tray, meats & cheeses board, fries, shrimp tempura, the pretzel, and au poivre sliders. Everything we tried was a nice compliment to the cocktails, but I was a big fan of the pretzel in particular (because it's filled with beer cheese), as well as the sliders (because it has bacon). The cocktails are particularly noteworthy. The menu lists the ingredients and vibe of each drink, and they did a great job with the menu. I wanted to try most of it. I went with the Hail Mehri, which is a pineapple & mezcal drink. A special shout out to Jermaine for the excellent service. He made sure our group felt welcomed and taken care of. I've enjoyed the other two branches of Dear Irving, but this location didn't quite hit the mark for me. The welcome was warm, and we were seated right away, so things started off promising. However, for some reason, the waitstaff could only speak to us from one end of the table--like ordering at a drive-through where only the person closest to the speaker gets to chat. It made for an odd dynamic. The drinks arrived quickly and were delicious, but the food was a mixed bag. The beef sliders looked great but lacked flavor, with the cold bacon discs perched on top rather than cooked in. The $19 hot dog was mostly bread, with just enough meat and relish to remind us it was, in fact, a hot dog. Condiments weren't provided, though we also didn't ask--so that's on us. The cauliflower, meanwhile, was a bit too spicy for our tastes, though spice lovers might feel differently. It seems like they're still finding their groove, but they've been open for a while, so I'm not sure. Maybe it was an off night for me and for them, but I don't think I'll be back. read more

In order to get away from the massive crowds all around the city during the holidays we thought we would slip into this beautiful cocktail bar. The drinks are to die for. We originally came for the Jason Veasey drink (a few of the drinks are named after Broadway stars) and left craving the spicy pineapple mezcal for days. Had a thirst for some fancy cocktails, so I chose to try this recently opened rooftop cocktail lounge in my Hell's Kitchen/Midtown West neighborhood yesterday evening and was pleasantly impressed by the cozy & spacious interior of this rooftop lounge. The cocktail drink made by their friendly bartender was tasty with a spicy kick to it which I dig. Overall, I dig the ambiance as I can envision myself chillaxing while sipping on swanky cocktails or whiskeys to relax and unwind either by myself or with friends/colleagues. There are two bars, and I noticed the outdoor bar was quite crowded. The view was great, with a billboard changing screens, giving me a bit of that Broadway vibe, which added to the experience. The bill I took home was $112.80 less than the amount my credit card was charged. This matches exactly 20% of my bill and matches the exact amount of the gratuity that was already included in my bill. They double charged me for the tip so a 40% tip altogether! I have messaged them through their website and after 3 days no one has answered. I cannot find a phone number for the establishment on their website or any place else. Very shady that they do not publish a phone number. I am now obligated to contact my credit card company to stop payment. read more
