Great drinks, great vibe, great views, and good seating! We made a reservation a week before and was able to get a good view of the city. Ordered the Purple Tuxedo, The Flapper, and Out of Love. Majority favorite was the Out of Love. Majority least favorite was The Flapper as it tasted like medicine, but a good sweet drink for those that prefer. We didnt spend much time since we used this place as a picturesque spot and a pregame before the club. There is a DJ playing music in the background, but does not take requests. Although we didnt get outside seating, there were others including my group that took some quick pics outside without bothering anyone. New York has a lot of great spots for a fun night out and New York also has a lot of overated and over priced spots that are not worth what you pay. Unfortunately Ophelia falls into the latter category. We came to Ophelia's for a friend's birthday party and was told that the prefix menu that the birthday girl had previously been in touch with the host about was no longer available. The bill ended up being way more expensive than intended. While the place itself has a great view of the city and the skyline, the food that we ordered was pretentious and mediocre and overpriced. We ordered the truffle fries, lamb chops, steak and duck spring rolls. The steak was the best of the bunch. The lamb chops were a bit bland and tasteless. I've had much better lamb at cheaper places. The service was lacking. We were initially told that our party would be charged $500 if we exceeded the 2 hour limit of the reservation but then our drink orders were slow to being processed and then we were told it was okay to exceed the 2 hour limit in the space. Overall, it was an overpriced experience that was not worth the hassle. read more

My review is solely for the rooftop experience but I do need to come back for the food because it looked delicious! This place is so cute with stunning views of the city and east river. I recommend making a reservation to sit inside the rooftop part because the outdoor terrace is really small. However we were able to go to the outdoor part without any reservation since it had just rained and nobody was out there. We did the Omacocktail experience here and found it enjoyable. They block off seats at the bar based on the number of reservations they have, so you are sequestered with your group and bartender. There are seven mini-cocktails covering a variety of spirits and drink styles. Of the seven, I really enjoyed five, was meh on one, and didn't like the really spicy one. (I don't enjoy spicy cocktails, but there's no way every guest is going to like all seven, but their success rate was pretty good with me.) There are a variety of glassware types used and there is an emphasis on presentation, plus mists are used to top off several, like a rosewater mist over one of the martini variants. One thunderdouche in our cohort said it "smelled like grandma" but I thought it was nice. The bartender will give you some backstory on the ingredients, but not to the point of being pedantic about it. There are a few small bites served with the drinks, but they do not constitute anything like a meal, so most will order additional food to round out the experience. I thought the duck spring rolls were wonderful, and the lamb lollipops were very good. The space is nice, if a bit crowded. You step off the elevator and the main bar is just across from you, then there are wraparound seating areas (mostly covered, but some open terrace) to take advantage of the views. Of course those to the east, across the East River and Roosevelt Island, are the best but it's all quite nice. (You don't get the views from the main bar where the omacocktail serving is located, but you can walk around before or after and soak it in.) The decor is heavy on faux cherry blossoms that look like something from a prom, but the architecture gives it some atmosphere as well. All in all, I'm glad I went and if it sounds like something that would interest you, in all likelihood you'll find it worthwhile. read more

My wife and I tried the Omacocktail Tasting experience at the Ophelia Lounge. It was seven "mini" cocktails paired with three small bites. Although, they advertise smaller than normal cocktails, you are absolutely getting your money's worth. The menu and pictures are below. Our host David was outstanding and explained each cocktail along the way. I would say the cocktails got better and better as they went on. The highlight for most of us was the Opus 13. The bites that accompanied the drinks were nice additions but definitely not the focus of this tasting in my opinion. Let the pictures of the view speak for themselves. Quaint. Inside The Beekman on the 26th floor. The bldg is used as residential living and a hotel. The indoor rooftop bar is good for date night or small group of 4. Staff is friendly. It's dark. Not great lighting to read the menu. Dinner area is very small, hence the need to make reservations for dinner. Dining area only has a view of the East River. No reservation needed for bar area, however, the bar seats ~12 (no views). L shape (facing the wall) Skewers were good. Mini lobster tacos were just okay. Not great for its price of $28. Each taco is literally a mouthful size (yes, mini). Not enough to be full if really hungry. A bottle of sparkling water is $14. Parking garage ($57) is on the next block over and 1 other is blocks over. Most are over 40 & dressed in khakis. It's okay if you're staying at the Beekman. Go just before sunset, it would be very nice!! read more

Hotel bar with city views. We went for a Halloween party which was a paid ticketed event. They specified standing room only ( no problem with that) and a specialty Halloween cocktail included. Any other drinks after that woyld have to be purchased. Costumes encouraged. I was very excited to go to a costume party and thought it would be nice to be in a not too crowded space. It was only after arriving that we realized the bar was inside the hotel . Not a biggie. The front desk staff told us to take the elevators up. The elevator would not budge. Another couple (dressed in costume) joined us in tje samw elevator and we tried to get going again . After a few minutes all 4 of us started looking a lil panicked so we decided to step out. All along there was another elevator going up but there was a small crowd also waiting to use that one. When I told the front desk about the elevator problems the guy said that tje elevator we were in doesn't stop at the floor with the bar. Umm buddy you couldn't have said that before? You saw us in costumes and I said we were going to thw Halloween party. A lady who seemed to be in charger (wasn't there when we first arrived) rushed over to help. She said there's a way to get up to the bar even if we used the same elevator we were in and would take us. Okay- perfect because by now there was a considerable crowd waiting for the other lift and hotel guests heading to their rooms with luggage etc. The dear lady took us to mostly a higher floor ,then let us out and instructed us take the staff stairway. Girl, we were in stilettos and the stairway was single file entry with hotel servers coming down with trays. . This must have been the Trick of the night. Anyway we made it up to the bar , ankles still intact thankfully. She was probably just trying to get the crowd out but a warning about the stairs would have been appreciated. Decided not to let this damper our night ( by now our fellow elevator riders are almost our besties) Let's head to the bar and get our Halloween cocktails. The tickets were $35 or around that price I can't exactly remember, it was my hubby's doing so .. The bar tender then informed my husband that it was a glass of house wine not a cocktail but he's welcome to purchase cocktails. I saw him coming back with the wine and 1 cocktail in hand. He said he bought the cocktail and wanted to know which one I'd love to order as he was going to return to the bar. I said I wanted the cocktail that was included with the ticket. I was already peeved that he had purchased the bait and swith cocktail. I wantwd to eat but there was no bar food . I asked to sit at a table on the dining room so we could order something but that was by reservation so it was not possible either. His cocktail was actually good but this night was a doozer and I just wanted to take some pics of the view and leave. The music was very loud for the tiny space but some older ladies were having their Golden Girls minute and shaking it down on the dance floor. So I came here for an anniversary date for my partner & I, positive things to say about this restaurant. Starting with the ambiance, they had music playing & the energy was fabulous. The view was absolutely wonderful, I love the city but I mean who doesn't right? Service was at 10/10, they were so helpful & informative of the menu, which is a great thing because you can ask what you aren't familiar with if it's your first time! Food was absolutely delicious. For appetizer I had ordered spinach & artichoke dip, it was actually very hot so you can tell it's freshly made. I also ordered hummus & you could never go wrong with some hummus! Full dish I had ordered ribeye steak, medium well. I don't like my steak too dry, it has a peppercorn sauce which gave the steak even more flavor than it already had. I would order it again for sure! My soulmate and I celebrated my birthday during restaurant week at this place. The decor is nice with a bar like atmosphere. I've come here once or twice before for drinks. We were lucky to be one of the first ones to arrive. We had the only seat with back support and a makeshift table with a great view of the water. The restaurant week menu is nice with the happy hour options right underneath it. The food was good. The only thing is my napkin, the cutlery, and the edge of my water glass had lint on them. I've been here a few times, a close friend is a food blogger and we have been lucky enough to have been invited a few times to come try new menu items. The lounge itself is always busy with extremely good and high quality cocktails. Very classy, ambiance is great for a first date if you can get a table. My favorite thing they have EVER had was this baked brie & fig dip. It was absolutely delicious and I am waiting for the day they bring it back. The crispy prawn "tacos" are also such a good pick. I love that they come as a lettuce wrap, perfectly fried with a really good sauce. Truffle fries are always a good choice for a snack. Thick cut fries with some much cheese!!!! read more

TL;DR - I usually don't write reviews...but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. My partner and I were seated 30 min late for omacocktail. The manager promised us some free drinks and appetizers, but tried to slip in those charges at the very end. Drinks were incredibly sweet and syrup-y in the beginning, food quality was poor, and the portions were tiny. Horrible experience - go somewhere else for date night! Longer version: My partner and I arrived on time for our scheduled 730p Omacocktail experience. We were seated more than 30 minutes late because staff was running behind. The experience was advertised to be 90 minutes total, running from 730-9p. I asked staff to cancel omacocktail because we wanted to make the other reservation and because they were already running 30 min behind, but they said that they are unable to do it and we would have to contact Bucket Listers instead. Because of the lateness, we had to cancel a reservation after this experience. And this was truly one of the worst experiences I've had. A manager said that he would give us free drinks and appetizers due to the delay, but tried to slip in those charges at the very end. The drinks were not good -- most of them were incredibly sweet and syrup-y -- and the food/drink portions were tiny. My partner and I, along with the other omacocktail guests, complained because we were barely able to hear the bartender's explanations of the drinks due to the loud lounge and music speakers pointed directly at us. Perhaps if there were only 4 guests as advertised (not 6, as we would later find out), we would have also been able to hear the bartender. I feel bad for the bartenders as they were very kind and personable. They were just working in a badly set up environment. Finally, the decor and ceiling projections made the entire place look cheap. I'm very disappointed how overpriced and poorly executed this entire experience was. While Ophelia's management was kind enough to offer me and my +1 to return to have dinner there, I declined. I would like a full refund as the experience was not delivered as promised -- but Bucket Listers has not responded to me at all. read more

My GF and I did their Omacocktail experience before going to a show (Two Strangers Carry A Cake Across NY...highly recommended) and it was fantastic. Our server, David, was incredible. Highly knowledgeable, he explained each cocktail and introduced me to a bunch of new liquors. The small bites we were given were delicious and the additional food we ordered (duck confit spring rolls, filet mignon skewers, and charcuterie) were all fantastic.
