My little rescue Chiweenie got all her teeth removed here, and she did great, despite being 10 years old. Initially they told me she'd have to stay overnight, but when I dropped her off they said I could pick her up that afternoon (they explained that the spay/neuter pets stay overnight). They sent her home with five days' worth of pain meds, which I thought was nice. She was a little groggy when I picked her up, but seemed fine. The Vet was quite knowledgeable and informative, and the front desk folks were very friendly. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I like the place. read more

The main vet is pretty good, but they do not provide comprehensive care and there are some concerning issues with how the practice is run. They will not accommodate anyone at all, ever for any minor urgent situation, nor will they go above and beyond for their patrons and pets like the previous owner. I don't think that things are always accurately communicated to the DR or from her to the caretaker of the animal. read more

We recently began taking both of our dogs to Dearborn Animal Clinic. Unfortunately, they do not provide comprehensive care. After spending hundreds of dollars on their annual exams, one of my dogs became very ill. I called on a Friday morning when they opened to see if they could fit him in. They would not be able to see him for a full week. Thank god I went to another vet who found that he had pneumonia. If I would have waited a full week, my boy would have been extremely sick. I expect a vet to provide comprehensive care, not just referral to an emergency vet. I will never spend another cent at Dearborn. read more

We love this clinic! We started taking our older dog here about 3 years ago and have really appreciated the care and attention our dogs receive. The staff is usually friendly and caring. Both of our dogs go here and we haven't had a bad experience with either. They offer decent pricing and have a shots clinic on Saturday's which works well for our schedule. read more

We love Dearborn animal clinic! They care for our pets as if they were their own. We trust them with our Greyhounds and appreciate that they know our dogs by name. They are affordable and have even offered to let us pay half of our vet bill at one appointment and the other half at a different time since it was a few hundred bucks (blood tests, urinalysis, dental work, anesthesia, etc). They are a pretty busy place -- so expecting appointments same day isn't realistic, but that's okay. There's an emergency vet not far down the road. Additionally, when I have had questions about whether something is an emergency, I can call them, ask about it (shout out to Lacey for basically always being on the other end of my "...So Walter is having this issue ...." calls ha), and they can help guide me to what may be going on, what to watch out for, and kind of when it turns from a 'monitor and wait' to a 'you need to go in' situation. We really value this vet clinic and are grateful for such kind providers. Thank you all so much! read more

I take my cat, Isabel, here to be groomed. My cat is a bit of an old curmudgeon and requires sedation to be groomed. We have been coming to Dearborn, for the past 4 years with our (now 13 year old sheltie) and we are bringing our new collie puppy as well. This is a really great clinic, the staff is knowledgable, and friendly and so willing to listen and guide when you have worries and concerns. (plus many of the girls have been at the clinic longer than we have).. That in itself says something. Dr. Tate, knows her stuff. She is so honest and upfront when your dog has issues. The prices are reasonable and they offer insurance which I highly recommend. It pays for itself instantly. They dont try to sell you things, in fact they try and help you save money. Absolutely do not count on this crew. On the off chance you can get ahold of someone they will be less than helpful anyway. My dog who was a patient for 10 years was attacked and needed to see a vet. So we called this group and we're told they didn't have time to see him. Called the vet down the street and they said absolutely bring him in right now we will squeeze him in. I recommend looking up other vets in the area as this place doesn't care. read more

We won't be going back, which stinks because we're so close to Dearborn! I had a terrible experience today. I needed a corticosteroid for my dog who needs these EVERY summer for allergies and I was denied a rx refill (they made me feel like I was asking for illicit drugs) because Dr Tate hadn't seen our dog within the year BUT her partner in the practice had???? It's so archaic. So we're on the hunt for a vet who will work with us. UPDATE: I apologize but I stand by my review. I have consulted many friends and another vet about this issue and everyone agrees Dr Tate could have consulted her partner (who was on vacation, not my fault) about this situation and provided us relief in that moment considering I offered to provide his up to date vetting from SNKC AND I offered to bring him in the following week. I just couldn't make three specific days work as I have a full time job and we were leaving town for vacation. We were in a bind. What's the point of having 2 docs in a vets office if they're not collaborating while one is out of town? I believe I provided pertinent facts. What people want is a vets office that works with them and you in fact did not. We started going somewhere else and I hope to never be in this situation again. read more

Love these guys. We have had more trauma in our cat life than usual lately, and these folks have been amazing to work with. Our 18 year old cat finally succumbed to her age, a stray we found turned out to be FIV+, and our other 2 cats are simply neurotic little balls of claws. All were treated fantastically, with all of the options presented to us, all of our questions answered, and all of the resources they could find to help us out hunted down. Some of the surprises were not in the budget, but they worked with us in setting up payments and getting caught up, with no problems with service. Even if they don't happen to be the closest to us while we live in the KC area, we'll make the trip out to them for anything the critters need. read more

Great practice. A little pricey but they actually care about your animals so it's worth it. We recently had to have one of our dogs euthanized and the doctor was amazing and empathetic. This is a great place to take your pet. The doctor was great with our dog, knowledgeable and took the time to examine our dog. Our first visit here to Dearborn was because our dog had a blocked anal gland that popped. At first we though he ate a sock or had some sort of stomach issue. We called around to find out where to take him. We thought he might need an x-ray but the first few places didnt have that equipment. We finally called Dearborn and explained the issues again. The lady told us that the x-ray was unnecessary because it sounded like he had a ruptured anal sac. We went in and had him fixed right up. The second visit our dog did better (our dog is a whiney worry wart). This is definitely lifelong vet for our pet. The reason for the 3 stars was the attitude of a lady working there named Lacey. She implied our dog wasn't being fed enough "you're so skinny, tell your mama you need to be fed more". Then she give a very nasty a look and walked off when I informed her that he's was a perfect weight for his breed. Its the lack of professionalism with her that made this visit awful. I have never, EVER, had a vet tell me he was underweight. They all told me he was healthy and everything looked 100%. Except for today's visit, he had an ear infection. We even brush our dogs teeth daily. Every vet we went to has complimented his oral hygiene. We love our dog, just because he's not obese doesn't mean he's being starved. I love this place, everything but that lady's attitude. I could take my business elsewhere, but we found a great place. read more

I am dog trainer. I have worked for many local rescues. I have worked for local kennels. I have worked with many veterinarians, and none in the metro area come close to the quality of care and compassion I have experienced at Dearborn Animal Clinic's veterinarians and other staff. The prices here are great. Everybody has their hearts and heads in the game. They care. When I adopted a senior Shar Pei from a local rescue, it turned out that she had a mysterious disease. When the rescue turned their back on her, even though it was her first check-up which revealed many symptoms of a very serious disease, Dr. G and his staff were there for us. I had many lengthy conversations with the Doctor(s) and was admitted promptly when new symptoms arose or past ones presented in a more extreme manner. I have never felt more taken care of. I wish I could find a human doctor with the compassion I've seen from the Vets here. To further illustrate the heart and soul of Dearborn Animal Clinic, drive by after hours sometime. You'll see the lights still on as Dr. G puts in overtime providing veterinary care for dogs from a handful of local rescues. I can't say enough good things about this place. My husband & I have been married 40 years, & in this time we've had a combined cat/dog family of 17 animals, 9 are still with us. Dr G has been our Vet for almost all of these 40 years & has treated all of our kids. The Doctors in this clinic, past & present, are the most caring, compassionate, smart, innovative & wonderful people on earth. The staff is above reproach, always kind, efficient & friendly. Our animals have always been treated well, & I can not begin to tell you how wonderful Dr G is. He goes above & beyond what you would expect from a Vet. Our last puppy was on deaths door last year, & Dr G took her home with him over the weekend to care for himself!! I trust this clinic with my "kids'" lives. We could not be happier with the treatment our dog receives at Dearborn Animal Clinic. Lacey always remembers our dog and they're very sweet. When we first adopted Betty we were in at least once a week for almost two months with eye and ear infections that just would not clear. We got great care and attention each time. **AWFUL** I took my dog there last week because he was due for shots. When I got there the girl wanted to trim his nails and even though I had just done it she said they could be trimmed a little more. When he started freaking out she said she wouldn't try anymore and would go get the vet so that he could give my dog his shots. In the meantime, this other woman came in and held my dog while another girl tried to trim his nails, again. The woman holding my dog was very rough with him, holding him down and making him cry. The same woman holding him during the nail trimming held him while the vet gave him shots. My dog squealed while he got his shot and the vet ripped the needle out and shoved it back in. My dog was so sore the next day that I couldn't even pick him up. Every time I tried to hold him he started crying. I will never go back to this vet and I don't recommend them to anyone. read more

Last Wednesday June 22 I had to put my baby boy Buddy to sleep. I took him to my vet at Dearborn after he vomited blood all over my living room and just generally wasn't acting right. Dearborn ran test on him to see what was wrong. The numbers all pointed to pancreatitis. But he had gone down hill so fast they felt he would be better off at VCA, a pet hospital a block away. I wrapped him up and rushed him over. They came in and took Buddy to run more test. Then the doctor came in. The look on his face told me everything I had been fearing. He told me that Buddy's pancreas was so inflamed it had most likely perforated his bowl and made him septic. This explained his fast deterioration. He then explained my three options. Buddy would have to be treat with very heavy and extreme doses of antibiotics. He explained given the fact that my dog is more likely 14 or 15 years old, not 12 like we all thought, the chances of him surviving the side effects was slim. Next thing he would need is massive surgery to fix whatever damage the inflammation did, something he didn't see Buddy surviving. So at this point I asked the only thing that mattered: Is he suffering? He answered with a nod and told me my baby was in a great deal of pain. I told the vet I didn't want him to suffer. I chose to have him put to sleep. They brought him back in and I spent 20mins loving on him and telling him what a good boy he was. He got up one last time to lick my cheek then lay back down. I called the doctors in to put him to sleep. He passed quietly. I stayed there for a bit longer. The doctors were all so caring at VCA. I felt like I had made the right decision for what was best for my dog. Yesterday 6/29/16 I received this card from my vet at Dearborn. I didn't open it and I handed it to my roommate to read because I felt it would make me cry. She instantly got angry and said I had to hear what the doctor wrote. It's hard to read but it says: "Dear Amanda, I am so very sorry for your loss of Buddy, I understood how dear he was to you. It hurts more when we face a situation where recommend medical care has to be declined because of economics. I will tell you that your hard decision to not spend funds needed for your home means you will be there to love and for other pets. I share your loss. 'Dr.'" I'm highly upset by this because I did what was best for my dog. Sure I could have spent thousand of dollars to put Buddy though extreme treatment and caused him more suffering and most likely death but I felt that was selfish of me to do to an old dog. I had given him a great last 8 months on this earth. He was always so happy. I think I made the right decision. I am looking for a new vet if anyone has recommendations... read more

I came here today for the first time. I got my cat's vaccinations and she was shaved by the groomer Lacey. I called at least 8 offices near me to get a feel for the place and of course pricing. When I called this office I spoke with the office manager Kelley. Immediately I knew this was the place. She was extremely knowledgeable and interested in speaking with me. The other places seemed put off that I was calling to get pricing. Kelley listened and told me all about the practice. She really seemed to care and like her job. When I entered the practice today the staff were very friendly and I really noticed how clean it was. That's important to me. The doctor walked by and warmly greeted me. The groomer was very helpful and professional. I really can't say enough good things about my experience. I wish life were always this pleasurable. The pricing was very reasonable. I really loved Dr. G. He made me feel so welcome and he spent quite a bit of time with me. He's the nicest vet I've ever dealt with and I've had animals all my life. I highly recommend this office. I especially appreciate the thoroughness of the evaluations performed by Dr. Guglielmino and his associates. Before moving to the Kansas City area, I would take my cat, Meatball to what I called the "Gucci Vet" because it appeared to be the best, most posh vet in the area and nothing is too good for my baby. Upon relocating and discovering the charm of downtown Mission, the tiny Dearborn Animal Clinic drew me in. I've been very pleased with the service based on annual checkup/vaccination visits, but really came to appreciate everyone here on another level a few months back. Meatball was having some stomach issues that seemed harmless, but nonetheless, worried me. Not only was he treated and completely healthy shortly thereafter, but they called me the next day, and the day after that to check up on him. These were not merely courtesy calls, rather genuine concern of the health of my pet. I'd always felt that everyone there had an authentic concern for my Meatball and their extra efforts in making sure he was getting better was a true testament to that. read more
