Dearborn music really is a great store. I like the new location, it looks very clean and organized. Plus parking is free at the new site. Good selection of used vinyl and CDs, lots of new vinyl (recent releases and reissues of older records), staff is friendly and informative. Chances are that you'll always find something worth buying. Their prices are good, about what you would expect, and sometimes they'll have a sale and good discounts. Nice, roomy location that's much easier to navigate compared to the old store. The store stock is still about 3/4 CDs and 1/4 vinyl, though the vinyl selection is still good. However, the pricing on both new and used vinyl is way out of line. $25 for each of the Johnny Cash American Recordings? Come on! Most of the used jazz (my forte) is $4-8 higher than you would see at Street Corner in Southfield, and a few buck higher than Stormy just a few miles away. Today was the first time I have been to this store, and I am so glad I did! Great selection of new and old music, movies, t-shirts and other awesome knick knacks. The prices are very reasonable (especially considering some of the items there are hard to get) and the staff are great. I will be coming back for sure! read more

This is a decent store if you are looking for NEW records or t-shirts. If you are looking for something cool used then a big giant NO. It's misleading when you first walk in and see 10000 used records but it doesn't take long to realize it's all c list bands. And multiple copies of boring bands that weren't successfull. If they don't have it, or can't get it, they don't make it. My go to place for all things musical. Their vinyl selection is much better than all the stores in downtown AA. The new store is more spacious and are able to display more products. About the size of the old Peaches record store on Schaffer, if you can remember that far back. I can still remember the huge album covers on the exterior of the building, I wonder if anyone out there ever bought one of those, they must have been 6x6 feet. I liked the old location and I like the new. They expanded even bigger since the last time I came. Variety of everything. They have tons of tshirts, stickers, and mugs. They're slowly but surely getting more vinyls but I'm still waiting for them to get Matchbox 20!!! Hint hint!! Usually I never leave empty handed but my mom couldn't find what she was looking for today. She said they need a bigger selection of oldies on vinyls haha. I went a little crazy and brought way too many albums but I figured I only live once and good music makes life worth living. I have been coming to Dearborn Music since the sixties for my music needs. Place just keeps getting better. Sure you can buy stuff online but it just doesn't beat walking into the record store and digging for gems. Dearborn Music is the best. If you primarily buy CDs and listen to a lot of classic rock and jazz, this place will probably be your favorite record store in Metro Detroit. If you have more wide-ranging tastes, you'll probably be disappointed. Nowhere else in the area has the depth and breadth of selection that Dearborn Music has in terms of CDs, and I like that the store is clean, fairly organized, and well-lit. Prices are mostly fair, sometimes dead-on with online prices, other times only a couple bucks more. Where the store falters on CDs is anything non-U.S. CD reissues out of the U.K. for example, are going to be double that of what you'd pay online. I'm not sure if this is due to Dearborn Music's ownership/management or due to the distributor they are using. I know some distributors jack up prices on certain titles, so I'm hoping that's the case. The used vinyl section is okay. If you dig, you may find a few titles worth buying depending on your tastes. I've found some good things here, and most of the records I've been interested in look to be in good shape and are generally priced in the $5-9 range. The selection is mostly pretty common stuff though, I don't think you're going to find any surprises here. Worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Forget this place. Been looking for a record needle for some time now. Apparently they're hard to come by. Got directed to this place. The first store associate was somewhat helpful led me to this other chick. Told her what I was looking for. Asked me if I had a year, make, model, serial number for my record player. Like I was looking for a car part. Ok whatever I guess I can understand that. Maybe it makes things easier. I didn't. I asked if I could just take a look at some. Maybe I could figure it out. I'm sure what I need has to be pretty standard. She responded with "no". Like it's some sort of coveted item. Looked like it could be a decent music store. But I'll never know. Goo selection of vinyl new and used. I have found about 75% of my hard to find albums here in the used section.

I haven't been there in many years, but I know I was there before 1982. Yelp says it has been open since 1987, which I know for a fact is not true...but whatever, it was a place me and friends discovered a lot of great hard rock and metal. read more

HUGE for a record store. Lots of common stuff to sift thru though which is my only complaint about the place. There is only so much G Geils and Doobie Bros type titles one can flip over trying to find the goodies amidst them. Lots of stock new and old.
