Nothing has changed since the last bad reviews. They never return calls after they have you as a customer.

It looks like nothing has changed at this office. If I could give a lower rating I would. I'm in the middle of buying a house and need to contact them about homeowner's insurance. I've left extensive messages because they never ever pick up the phone, yet not one message has been returned. The only way to deal with them is to take a day off work, go to their office, and stand there in front of them until they acknowledge you. They consistently never answer the phone. They consistently never return calls/messages. This office should be shut down. read more

It's sad to have to write a bad review but this particular State Farm is one of the worst! They will hardly ever answer your calls, they have an "option" to text with them and do you ever get a text back? NOPE I've left many many many voicemails and sent many text messages as well, I shouldn't have to go in every time I need something simple and quick since I do work everyday! And every time I go in the phones are always ringing and they don't pick up or they pick up and put on hold (for no reason) just because one of the staff is having a (long) PERSONAL call. I wish Faviola was still working there she was a GREAT help and always answered if not they she would actually Call back. Soon as I have a day to go in i will be switching. Very dissapointed!! Been a customer for years,and then all of a sudden, my auto draft gets 'suspended'.. I contacted the agency when I received a DMV notice saying I had no insurance. Kim said she would look into it and take care of the DMV fee,and let me know what had happened. Never heard back,so I thought everything is ok. Well I receive another DMV letter. This time when I contacted the agency about this, I was now told th as t rhey had sent several cancellations letters to my home... never received one.. and that they could write a new policy,but I would have to pay the fine..or I could now pay them for 5 months of no insurance!!! When did it suddenly become 5 months!? I will not ever use this particular agency,nor would I tell anyone else too.. I am sooo mad,and angry,and disappointed...pretty sure I will not get the office manager call I was promised today.. much less any kind of satisfaction with all of this!!!!+ read more

Debbie Leonard was my agent from 2005 to 2010, and I was always pleased with the service. I moved out of the area for several years and then moved back here in 2014 and once again used Leonard for homeowner's and car insurance. In April, I sold a car and called to cancel my policy on that vehicle ... of course it wasn't during business hours, so I talked to a national State Farm call center. They said they would leave a message with the agent, and only the agent can cancel the policy. In May, I get a bill still showing that car on my policy. I call again to the national number. They have the record of my call in April and also have a record of sending the message to the agent. They say they will send it again. OK. All taken care of. Nope! In June I get another statement with the same car still on the policy. I call a third time to the national number -- Leonard's office is 9 - 4 or something ridiculous like that. This time I made a complaint, and they helped me start the process of changing agents. But the thing is. Leonard still must be the one to cancel the policy, and she hasn't yet. All I can say is that this office is totally incompetent. It hasn't always been this way, but it is now. Stay away. read more

I was a client of Debbie Leonard State Farm for more 20 years: home, auto and rental! Despite the following: 1. Repeatedly misspelling my name on a variety of documents - to this day, my name is still misspelled on my auto insurance card (even though they have a copy of my drivers license); 2. Mailing the one and only home owners claim I had in over 15 years to an old address in spite of the fact that my new home, address and the home they were insuring were all the same. And they mailed it to the former address TWICE; 3. After a roof damage payout of less than $3,000 (mind you, 20 years of automatic payments and no previous claims, and they had my business for home, auto, and rental). They reviewed my policy and decided to drop my homeowners insurance, causing a great deal of headache and time. Additionally, nobody ever took the initiative to review my policies and make recommendations...like "we noticed you don't have coverage for a rental car...the cost would be minimal to add but the savings could be huge, etc..." The final straw was the two weeks I spent trying to reach a human in their office regarding an auto claim. The phone continued to go to a voicemail service that would not allow you leave a voicemail. Eventually I contacted State Farm national to explain my concern regarding my Debbie Leonard as a provider. They were surprised but equally incompetent. Others I have spoken to have had similar experiences with other State Farm companies. So it may not be limited to this office. I have heard very positive feedback on Erie and that All State has come a long way. Definitely don't expect any loyalty from this Company. While I have never had an issue with State Farm the company, I have had consistent poor service from the staff at this agency. They have repeatedly failed to change addresses on my accounts, and when I finally lost my patience and asked to transfer my policy to another State Farm agent, it took over a week to get any response. In fact, I only found out that they had initiated the transfer after repeatedly emailing and calling. The role of an insurance agent is to make dealing with emergencies and unexpected situations easier. The staff at this agency have made dealing with simple changes much more difficult, and I have little faith that they would come through under more challenging circumstances. Stick with the company, but avoid this agency. read more

I have been a client since 2011. Debbie Leonard State Farm mistakenly underbilled my mortgage escrow acct for insurance which increased my mortgage pmt by $200. I called to discuss, left messages for Everyone on staff, no reply!!!! Finally went to the office and notice on door said they were closed due to COVID 19 and noted their email addresses. I emailed and received a response saying their voice mail was not sophisticated enough to change their VM message and how to contact them. OMG! Really??? Due to the mistake, inadequate capability to communicate with their customers during this time, I'm done. Suppose my house caught fire. Really!!!!!??? I'm Duke and done with them!!!!! I've been a customer of Debbie Leonard's for over 20 years and I have always found her staff to be helpful and concerned. I've gone through a lot in those years, break-in, accidents and I've always been able to get in touch with Kim and if I have to leave a message, she always return my call. Kim is working on something for my son, who has his auto insurance with State Farm. I stopped by the office and spoke with her today and she is handling his concerns. Just a pleasant group of folks and I would recommend Debbie Leonard State Farm to anybody, they have been wonderful to work with. read more

I can say that after reading these negative reviews there is no way that they can be accurately refering to the Debbie Leonard State Farm Agency that I have trusted for over 20 years. I have always referred my children, friends, family and co-workers to this agency and no one has EVER had a problem with her or especially her wonderful staff. Kim is an angel and Martha is heaven sent. I believe we someotimes need to take responsibility for our own mistakes and admit that although its easier to blame others we sometimes need to blame ourselves. I am another person with a one star review. I really hate to write anything bad about anybody, but the service I received was beyond horrible and others should be spared. I had my home owners insurance with Debbie Leonard but sold our house and moved to another area. Her agency did not properly notify State Farm and as result I had an additional $1,050 in escrow funds taken out of my now non-existent account. I found about it accidently. I contacted the Debbie Leonard agency many times and after an initial contact nobody followed up. After leaving a message with Debbie where I said I'd go to the Dep't of Insurance if I wasn't called, she called, was very apologetic and said the case would be immediately followed up with. Never happened. I called in, left many voicemails, never got a call back from her or any of her staff. It was beyond frustrating. An agent with my new State Farm agency, Bill Russell in Asheville (highly recommended) pick up the ball and pushed through to get me my refund. She had nothing to gain other than a very satisfied customer. Debbie Leonard and her office on the other hand, get a review like this. That the ball was initially dropped was not a big deal, we all make mistakes. But to leave me hanging like that is terrible customer service, not to mention that I would have been out $1,050. read more

After being a customer for 25 years, even though State Farm's premiums are higher than most comparative insurance companies, I recently experienced an issue of total incompetence which caused me to pull all of my policies from them and place them with other insurance agencies. I remain thoroughly unimpressed with the level of competence, followup and overall lack of concern with handling or resolving my issue. Never again will I obtain policies with this office, nor would I recommend anyone to use this office due to the reasons noted above as well as the overall inefficiencies which clearly exist. Horrible! After moving back to the area and looking to change Auto and obtain new Home Owners Insurance, I tried this agency (based on the fact that I have several mutual friends). Bad idea, huge! Totally incompetent and office staff could care less if they obtain new business! To my mistake, I tried 6 times to get established with them. Don't want to answer the phone, transfers for VM because no one is there, NEVER a single call back, rude office people. My family and I have been customers here for over a decade. Over the last year the customer service has become non existent. My calls and emails are rarely returned. I've been hung up on by their employees when discussing the mistakes they have made on my account. The employees do not have answers to the simplest of questions and are consistently rude. They even sent my account to collections for no reason and when I called to ask why, they had no idea why. This office is TERRIBLE! I have been a state farm customer for over 10 years and always experienced wonderful service until moving to Durham and transferring my policies to this office. Responses to emails and phone calls were extremely delayed or usually never happened at all. Office staff were impossible to reach during business hours, and I almost always got voice mail. Made several requests to have policy cards sent and went several months without receiving them. Finally decided to transfer policies to another office that is farther away but now have reliable agents. Would not recommend this office, there are many others so please look elsewhere. read more

I found this office to have exceptionally poor customer service. Kim was disorganized, rude and unprofessional over the phone. I tried explaining my situation to her and before I could finish, she cut me off and told me I had to come into the office in person. When I further explained that I work near Greensboro and had all of the necessary paperwork ready to fax, she had no professional answer and insisted I come in person. I was forced into taking 1/2 day off from work and drive over an hour into the office for something that would have taken 30 seconds to fax. I've been with State Farm for 18 years. I am beyond frustrated at the level of disservice I have received from Debbie Leonard's Office. One of the employees at the office removed my vehicle from my policy and replaced it with a car that I do not own 2 1/2 months ago. They have no documentation of who that employee spoke with. She had NO authorization from me, the policyholder to make that change. For weeks I have been working with the Office Manager, who did not seem concerned that her employee would illegally remove a car from my policy. I called the office today after discovering the car I drive is still not on my policy and said that I would hold until the manager picked up the phone because it was important. Instead, I was transferred to her voicemail. I sent her an e-mail and she immediately replied giving the impression that she had simply ignored my phone call. Without addressing my name in the e-mail, she blamed the length of time it takes for the underwriters to correct the problem when Corporate State Farm said she could have spoken to her underwriter and remedied the problem right away because her employee made a huge mistake. For almost 3 months my vehicle hasn't been insured. Now I'm being told I can't drive my car until the issue is resolved. The initial mistake and failure to resolve the mistake has put me in legal jeopardy. I have requested my policies to be transferred to another Agent.
