Ownership changed and while menu had the same items, items were prepared differently. We opted for lunch given our favorite breakfast item was slightly different. Sandwiches were OK but were mainly bread and lettuce with very little bacon. Restaurant was not busy but we waited a long time for our food and had to ask about our food. Wait staff were friendly and attentive and came over several times to refill our drinks and make sure we had what was needed. This is a diner but one thing we liked in the past was the outdoor seating and holiday decor. Deck was closed as it was in need of repairs and no holiday decor. My meal was great- a nice American breakfast with an omelet, hash browns, bacon, and toast. Coffee was refilled regularly, and everyone was nice. I left full and satisfied- maybe a touch over-full. The place is fairly bare bones, and the ambiance is nonexistent, but people go here for the food and not for the scenery. I can't even remember anything about the place, except that there is a back dining room, and the one in front where the cash register is. Its a one man operation as the owner is the chef and waiter so if it fills up, you may have to wait a bit but its worth it. We were fortunate to have the place to ourselves at the time we went and the owner/chef, Jeff, was a great host with many personal stories about the history of Utica and his personal colorful past. We had his stuffed French toast which was awesome and some eggs. The coffee and tea are self serve and there are seats at the counter and a couple tables. The place only seats around 16 people but he assured us that he occasionally gets many more in there at a time. If you're looking for a great breakfast or lunch during the week (its closed on weekends) and don't need any frills, this is the place to go. We'll definitely be back!

Adeline greeted us with her beautiful smile after we sat. She got drinks started while we looked over the menu. The menu is quite broad and they have a little of everything. For breakfast I ordered the rise and shine. Your traditional breakfast of eggs, toast, home fries and toast. My daughter got the crab cakes and eggs. While we waited for breakfast, we enjoyed coffee and orange juice. The coffee wasn't the hottest but it was still good with the vanilla creamer. Breakfast came out on huge plates. Everything looked so good, especially the home fries. I'm a sucker for potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly, nice and runny in the middle, the toast was buttery, the home fries had a nice light char on them and soft in the middle. I did get a side of sausage gravy for my home fries but it didn't tickle my fancy, The potatoes were good without it. I did get to try some of my daughter's crab cake. It was very tasty!
