Had a great patio hang out here on a late summer night. From the start our waitress was super attentive. The fall cocktail menu had already come out and had some unique options. I had the pear mojito and my friend had the apple cider margarita which were both lovely. For food we both ordered the Higby sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. The portion was so huge that it was worth at least 2 meals! The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. I enjoyed the steak along with the greens, and the roll was also good. This place is very large inside. There is pizza take out in the back, lots of indoor seating, a nice bar area, and a large patio. They also have a very nice event space upstairs. Parking is the shared lot behind the building. Will definitely return next time I am in NY. read more

Stopped in for a Bloody Mary on Sunday during the brunch time at One Genny. Bar was empty as they had just opened and a few people were filtering in and grabbing tables. All the barstools were arranged at an angle and the floor was clean and polished. Bartender asked if we needed menus to which the answer was absolutely. Ordered a One Genny Bloody Mary and an order of their Utica Greens. Bloody Mary was good - not spicy but loaded with Horseradish. Adornments were good, and there was a good balance with the amount of vodka used. Greens didn't appear spicy at first but a decent afterburn. A bit soggier than I like but the flavor and portion size was very respectable. Bartender checked in a couple times and there is a discount for using cash. read more

We love coming here for a quick drink before some last minute Christmas shopping. This year we tried the pizza, it was surprisingly really good! It is a little thicker than some of the other pizzas in the area, but the sauce tastes excellent and had a perfect amount of crisp. Great crust, you cannot go wrong! read more

Establishment is okay. Food was good from what i can tell by the other people i was with, the service on the other hand was something else. Our server had us waiting forever just to get boxes, another girl brought my food to a different table, and when i did get my food it wasn't correct. The lemonade tasted how piss smells and the water tasted like chemicals. Good place if you like lots of noise and if you like watching people hate doing their job as well, almost everyone who walked by had a stank look on their face, except some of the men and a few of the girls that looked to be younger. Fun place to watch a game I would say or to come with a big group. Food is okay, nothing out of this world but again, I think the main attraction here would be the ambiance. I look forward to visiting One Genny every year that I come to Utica to stay with friends nearby. Their everything wings are incredible and unique; I can't get them anywhere else. The pizza is very good, and they always have unusual appetizers on offer like stuffed zucchini blossoms. The menu is enormous so there is something for everyone, and their drink menu is equally large. The wait staff is attentive and friendly and we never feel rushed out. read more

This PLACE We come here a lot and have never had a bad experience. Their drinks, their food Anything you get is great and super yummy. Service has always been great, even when it's busy! The longest we ever had to wait on a super busy night (Saturday evening) was 20 minutes. And it's worth the wait. Their special cocktails are AMAZING! And their seasonal drinks are to diiie for. The only thing I will say is that I wish the apple cider mojito had more flavor in it, but the drinks ARE strong. They often have a live band on Saturday nights and although it's busy at the bar, when you're at a table it's not too bad. It's loud, but you're still able to have a conversation at your table. Parking might be confusing if it's your first time, but you just take the little road on the side of the building and there's spots in the back. Plenty of room. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for some lunch/dinner/drinks - pretty much if you're going out, go to One Genny! read more

Did you ever see that cheap processed cold cut type meat at the store that they sell as turkey? It a little jellified. That is the type of "meat" they used in my turkey Rueben. I just can't eat that - it doesn't taste like turkey at all and the jelly-like mouth feel is nothing I want to feel. Also the skin was still on it. I removed the turkey from my small sandwich and ate what was left. Very surprised to see this popular restaurant using this low quality processed meat. Especially when others close by use actual oven roasted actual delicious turkey. The waitress asked me how my sandwich was. I said it was ok - except for the turkey and told her this is a cheap cold-cut style of processed meat that was not eatable. She took nothing off the bill, and did not offer any alternative food. No way was this worth $14. My wife's prime rib was tough and a big disappointment. We don't mind paying $24 for prime rib that is good, but no way was this quality. The spinach that came with it has way too much garlic and no other seasonings - pretty poor taste. The mashed potatoes were real potatoes and they were ok. The $8 glass was wine was ok - that's a typical price for out area. We ate outside and we thought the music is much too loud. This is the 3rd and the last time we will go there. We really wanted to like this place - with the exception of the loud music and poor food, it's a really nice place. This lesson cost me $50 plus tip. My sandwich came with a bag of potato chips. Good try, but we have many places with excellent food in the same area. read more

I went to lunch on 10/28 with my girlfriend and sat at a pub table close to the bar. My girlfriend ordered a drink and it wasn't exactly the way she ask for. (No big deal) So my gf walked herself over to the bar since our waitress was busy with other customers. (Again no big deal) The problem was with the bartender.... Brunette female acted as she couldn't be bothered and annoyed that she had to remake the drink. Slamming items and angrily cleaning the bar. Mind you maybe 4-5 people at the bar itself and she wasn't busy with anyone when my girlfriend approached the bar. Everyone has a bad day.... I totally get it but maybe take a break behind a closed door and let that angry shit out and come back out with a smile and fake it till you make it! Very nice restaurant. Came in for my first time and was happy with lunch. We'd heard about One Genny but hadn't been able to try until now. My wife and I both enjoyed it. The find was good, the service was good (we did wait a while for our server to come over, but a manager came over and apologized for that), and it's a cool place. We like the fact that they have nice draft selection. I had their Turkey panini and it was really good. My wife had their fish tacos and liked those, too. One oddity is the address is on Genesee St but you can't park on the front side of the restaurant. You have to go out back, which can be a little confusing. There is a one way alley to take you around to the parking, but it's easy to miss. Overall - good food, good variety of beers, good service. read more

This place is okay to go to for a meal if you are eating at a table. There is a good variety of food on the menu and it's beautiful inside. It is NOT the place to go if you like to sit and eat at the bar. I've given the bar 10-12 tries (sometimes for food, other times just for drinks) before making the decision to never go back. The bartenders do not make eye contact, it's almost as if they are trained to ignore customers. I've tried going at different times of the day and different days of the week just to make sure that it wasn't just a couple bartenders. One Saturday afternoon, there were only 6 of us at the bar and the bartender still managed to ignore us most of the time. We were served 1 drink within 2 hours. At that point, we popped over to the bar at Cafe Canole and had amazing service. I really wanted to love it here since it's close to my home but the service is awful. We came here for a date night over the holidays and absolutely loved the atmosphere. Perfect for a night out! The Spin Dip was the best I've ever had - and HUGE! It's definitely a must try with some left overs or enough for a large group of people. The Philly Higby was pretty good. I think I was unlucky ordering the chicken sandwich. Just went to One Genny. Went to the hostess for a table to watch the game. There was 1 four top in the bar that was open, but she wouldn't give it to us because we didn't have enough people, even though there were 3 other couples at four tops. I told the hostess she made a bad decision. We've tried this place several times, and half of those times we've had rotten service. Was so excited to try One Genny's pizza, greens and chicken Riggies. We did takeout.. What a disappointment!!!!! I have NEVER before had a restaurant box up and provide a pizza where the crust on bottom was literally BLACK charcoal, cheese was overcooked on top as well. So it would have been very apparent that this pizza should not have been provided to a customer...yet it was. We did not realize the issue until we arrived home (40 minutes away). If you enjoy being physically assaulted and nearly knocked to the ground by a restaurant employee, One Genny may be your kind of place. After leaving the establishment with my take-out tomato pie, I was followed to my vehicle by a One Genny employee and belligerently "chest-bumped" hard from behind, with bad intent. Why? may you ask? The trouble started when said employee got in my wife's face and screamed at her. She had walked to the ladies room and back WITH HER MASK ON. Obviously he was watching her, because the moment she took her mask off after she got back to her seat, he was all over her. She was so annoyed that she left immediately. I told said restaurant employee that he was out of line for harassing my wife, who did nothing wrong. Said employee then abruptly "kicked me out". (I'm not gonna lie, I uttered a few choice words as I was escorted out.) When I left the building, he followed me. The One Genny employee assaulted me right on Genesee Street. The incident was witnessed. Some additional details may put this situation in perspective: This occurred at 7:30 pm. We did not even finish the one beer that we were having while waiting for the take-out. By the time the belligerent employee harassed my wife, the restaurant was jammed full, with no social distancing and no masks. We are upstanding mature individuals. You can call us Ken & Karen, but yes we did report the assault to the New Hartford Police Department. read more

The bar service was terrible! The bartender threw menus at us and then proceeded to slam around everything she picked up. This is after we waited 10 minutes to even receive her service. She was acting like we were inconveniencing her by sitting there. As someone's who works for tips as well, that is not the way to earn them that is for sure. The food was good though. Had dinner for the first time in a while, it was a busy Saturday night but we got a table after a 10 minute wait. We tried the peach Moscow mules served in copper cups, very tasty. Ordered GF sirloin riggies and lobster bisque within 5 minutes from Nick, food arrived in 15 minutes, excellent for a busy evening. The bisque was excellent and the sirloin was tender and delicious with just the right amount of heat. Considering the time and night we dined this is definitely a good place to eat for a reasonable price. I've been going to and ordering takeout from One Genny for a couple years now. At first the quality was fantastic, but over the last year it has taken a nose dive. Fish and chips is now over cooked, the French dip lacks the flavor it once had. The previously crispy and delicious fries have begun to show up soggy. This went from one of my favorite lunch places to a restaurant I will actively avoid. The good: -Large portions -Reasonable prices -Plenty of space in the dining area, always has seating -Lots of TVs if you are looking for a sports bar The bad: -The food has been consistently poor for almost a year now -The by-the-slice pizza at the front is some of the worst pizza in the area.
