I ordered flowers today from Debbie's Designs Florist & Gifts for a friend, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. I was a bit nervous ordering online as someone not local since I've been burned before, but this was truly FANTASTIC from start to finish. They had a great selection to choose from, and the bouquet I ordered--the Botanical Beauty Bouquet (Premium), looked exactly like the photo when it was delivered. That alone was impressive. What really set them apart, though, was their thoughtfulness. They asked for the recipient's phone number so they could confirm she would be home to receive the flowers, especially with the storms today. This is such a smart and customer‑focused policy. Far too many times, flowers are left on a porch in extreme heat or cold, which completely defeats the purpose. Debbie's Designs clearly cares about ensuring the recipient gets a beautiful, fresh arrangement in perfect condition. Bravo to the team! I don't live in the Crown Point area, but I will absolutely order from them again anytime I need to send flowers there. read more

I wanted a beautiful arrangement for my sister, who is retiring after more than 20 years working in an elementary school. I live out-of-state and didn't go with 1-800-Flowers because you never know what florist they will choose. Debbie's has great Yelp reviews so I picked an arrangement right off their website site. I placed the order on Monday (Memorial Day) and since it was a holiday, so even though they offer next day delivery, I requested Wednesday delivery so I wouldn't get stuck with the leftovers. They made a delivery. That's the only positive thing I have to say. I asked my sister to send me a picture of what she received. Frankly, I'm embarrassed. And livid. Before the $17 delivery fee to go to Lowell or the $5 web fees and taxes, I paid $60 for the flowers and vase. What she got was greenery with a couple carnations, a white rose that had seen better days, and some sad-looking droopy lavender flowers in a dollar store vase. What if I had not done the $10 upgrade? Would she have gotten just some greens? Keep in mind, people take pictures of the "good" side of arrangements. So how bad is the back side? I should have asked one of her neighbor kids to get a $10 bouquet from Stracks and paid him the $17 to deliver it. I tried to call Debbie's directly at 4pm eastern time and got the vacation message that they would be back on the 27th, which was today so they can't even make sure their voicemail messages are accurate. What a joke! Maybe they do a better job when you are picking up an order and they have to see your face. I'd give no star if Yelp allowed it. read more

***CARING & CREATIVE*** This was my 1st time using Debbie's and it definitely will not be my last as they not only provided beautiful arrangements they did so with kindness. I was in need of flowers for my Dad's funeral & the florist I had used for a long time was less than flexible in discussing the vision I had. Rather than purchasing something I was not comfortable with, I chose to go talk to the team at Debbie's and WOW what a difference in customer service!! Debbie & her team listened to what I wanted & even though it was Mother's Day week said they would do whatever they could to get as close to what I wanted as possible. They also showed me some alternatives that they knew they could get that I immediately could see would be equally as beautiful as what I originally had in mind. They also agreed to build the casket spray a bit differently than they normally do it so once again it would be as close as possible to what I wanted. When I walked into the funeral home, the arrangements exceeded my expectations! They were able to secure some beautiful calla lilies and built a beautiful mix around them. I have told everyone who is willing to listen in the last week how fabulous my first experience was with Debbie's and I look forward to using them going forward. We'd received a few floral deliveries from Debbie's designs last year. They were quite special. So when planning my mother in law's celebration of life, they were the first call we made for table centerpieces for 50 guests. We spoke to Kristen and shared our plans, and background on my mother in law and her love of tulips, peonies and daffodils. We planned everything from California so there was a lot of trust and confidence in play. EVERYONE raved about how beautiful the centerpieces were. No surprise by us. And not a single one was discarded. They all went to happy homes. Great job to all -- including the delivery guy. He was punctual and kind. read more

BUYER BEWARE: Normally I do not complain about businesses but I am totally disgusted about a recent experience with Debbie's Designs Floral in Crown Point Indiana. A family that is near and dear to our hearts just experienced a great loss of a loved one and it was very important to us to send flowers. My mother and I researched several options and we decided to go with a local florist because we figured we would probably have better odds of getting fresh flowers delivered with better selections. BOY WERE WE WRONG!!!. As soon as I found out the funeral arrangements I immediately went directly to DebbiesDesign.net and we picked a fall floral arrangment because of the color and amount of roses (12) that were in the bouquet picture online. When we arrived at the funeral home 2 hours alway I was disgusted and utterly embarrassed to see a wilted bouquet with NO ROSES. It looked like the flowers were ready to go into the trash. There was another beautiful arrangement from Debbie's that had ton's of beautiful roses and fall flowers, much of what I expected our arrangement to look like. The next day I called and spoke with the owner Debbie and she had stated, well it never looks like what the picture looks like online. And, we were out of roses. She also stated it met the requirements of being 14 inches tall which is all it has to for the online orders. I explained that the other floral arrangement had tons of roses and she stated the other party had called ahead and were regular customers. So because I was out of town I received wilted flowers and it didn't matter that I was also a paying customer, and I had ordered the flowers online when they were closed as soon as I heard the funeral arrangements. They even called me Monday to find out the name of the deceased and could have told me they did not have the correct flowers to make the arrangement like the picture. No, instead Debbie stated that I needed to indicate in the order that NO SUBSTITUTIONS are allowed. I think Debbie was counting on us being too far away (2 hours) to attend and wouldn't notice. She also stated she substituted Calla Lilies which were much more expensive than roses (I could only see 2 Calla Lillies to the 12 roses. She also stated that the vase was worth $30 (kind of hard to believe considering the flowers look nothing like the picture). To friends in Crown Point, I urge you to not use Debbie's Designs for your floral purchases again. I will say that she did refund us 20.00 on our order but I still think that was not $100 or even $80 (after refund) worth of flowers. I've seen better arrangements for $20 at the check out at Aldi's or Krogers!!! I give only 2 stars an extra one star for at least giving a refund. Beware if you use Debbie's floral shop and are not a regular customer of hers.. you run the risk of getting old wilted flowers that do not look like what you are picking out!!! ****Update 10/29/2019 - The last picture (Pastel Floral Arrangement) is a picture of flowers from Patricia Ann's Florist in South Bend Indiana and we spent $90 including delivery today for my Aunt's Funeral. I didn't expect to see many, if any, negative reviews about this business, as I've always had beautiful products and great service from them. But when I came here to leave my review, I see that other customers have been disappointed as well with them lately.and that's disappointing to see. I wanted to send flowers to my niece who had just gotten home from the hospital from having emergency surgery. She is a huge Miami Dolphins fan and when I saw the "Sunset Splash" arrangement on Debbie's website, I knew it was the perfect one since it had the beautiful peach/nearly orange, flowers and the aqua vase. The Dolphins colors. It was perfect. I requested the arrangement and specified "no substitutions" so that I was guaranteed the colors that I wanted. When my niece received the flowers, she took a picture of them and texted it to me. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Not only did the roses not look anything like the color in the photo, they looked nearly white. There was hardly any color to the arrangement at all except white and a little bit of green. It would've been a great bridal bouquet! By the time they were delivered to her, the shop was about to close, so I sent an email letting the shop know how disappointed I was in what they sent. I received a reply the next day informing me that the "recipe" for that arrangement called for peach roses, and that there are many shades of peach. If these roses are peach, then I don't know what peach looks like. I was also told that with Covid, it's not always possible to get the exact flowers/colors that are requested. I think the tone of that email was even more disappointing to me than the flowers themselves, Because I felt like I was being scolded for not realizing those roses were indeed peach colored, and that I should just ignore the fact that it didn't look anything like what I ordered. I understand all of those points, however, the fact that I specified "no substitutions", I would have hoped that they would have contacted me and told me that the arrangement wasn't going to look anything like the photo I chose and did I still want to send it. I have done buisness with them in the past with no issues. So when my dad passed away they were our choice to go to. However walking into the wake and seeing the casket spray and standing sprays was heartbreaking! for 800 you would expect more, my dad deserved more! They were so bare you could see thru them and looked nothing like the pictures. My mom tried to go in and discuss this with them but they just didn't seem to care. My wife received a beautiful birthday bouquet from Debbie's recently. Our issue was not with the product, but with the delivery. The gentleman delivering the flowers was not wearing any type of face covering. In retrospect I should have addressed it with him. After thinking about it and discussing it my wife, who has comprised health issues, called and expressed her concern. She received nothing but push back and attitude from one of the owners who downplayed facial coverings and stated "well Indiana is in stage 5". What does that have to do with wearing a mask? I recently ordered from Debbie's Design due to their high rating and asked for an assortment of red roses, blue delphiniums, and white hydrangeas for my girlfriend's family for the 4th of July. I told Debbie that I had a budget of $110 and was rather surprised and disappointed with the number of flowers included in the assortment. It only contained 7 roses, 4 delphiniums and 4 hydrangeas. The roses and hydrangeas are starting to wilt after 3 days and the amount paid does not seem reasonable as what I have paid for from other vendors. Terrible! Worst customer service I have ever experineced! I called to order ballons for my daughters 1sty birthday on Monday. The woman who answered the phone cut me off after I said Hello and told me she was busy with another customer in front of her and offered to call me back. She did call me back and I asked her if I could order some balloons for my daughters 1st birthday party. She replied rudely "latex or vinyl." I said I am unsure what that is so she said, "one is shiny and one is clear." I said I wanted a "Vinyl Number One and 9 latex, she said they didnt have the Number 1, but did have the latex and could have them ready on Monday. I agreed and she asked for my name and credit card. Once I gave her my information she said the ballons would be ready on Monday. I said do you want to know what colors I need? She replied" I thought you said an assortment." I said yes, but of specific colors. I explained I wanted pinks and whites or cream and if they did not have those colors, I did not want to place an order. She said again rudely, "Let me check what we have." When she came back they, of course did not have the colors I wanted so I said thanks, but I will order them elsewhere and she said, "Hold on, let me refund you card!" I was so surprised that she would charge me before I even told her what I wanted. SO of course I asked for a refund and she said I was refunded and hung up. I was so disappointed that I decided to call back to let her know what terrible, terrible experience I'd just had. But when I called back this woman was even ruder than before. She said she was not the owner, well of course she wasn't. The owner would not treat customers like crap! This woman was screaming at me over the phone and would not let me talk, cutting me off every time I tried to talk. I let her know that I live in Chicago and was referred to her by my mother who is a photographer in Crown Point and I will make sure no one ever reccommends Debbie Designs again. If you are a florist, you need to LISTEN! You are creating decorations for people's Special occassions: Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries and your job is to listen and make their occassion beautiful.
