We called couple Radon mitigation companies, RTE went out and checked out our basement in person and gave a detailed estimate, which is inline with the other company which quoted by phone. I have worked with two other contractors recently, and I can honestly say that they don't come even remotely close to the quality of work that Carlos and his crew provided. Carlos and Victor remodeled my entire bathroom, removing and reinstalling new tile, a vanity, mirror, light fixture, toilet and other bathroom accessories in addition to spackling and painting. From start to finish, Carlos demonstrated an extreme attention to detail and a genuine commitment to making sure everything was done properly. He does not cut corners, and he takes the time to do things the right way even when it requires extra effort. For example, he noticed that my bathroom floor was not properly leveled, something that could have easily been overlooked or simply worked around. Instead, he took the time to correct the problem and make sure everything was properly leveled before continuing with the project. He even painted door trim outside of my bathroom to make sure it transitioned well with the bathroom, something that was not his responsibility. That level of care and thoroughness is exactly what you hope for in a contractor. The spackling and painting were absolutely immaculate. I have hired professional painters in the past who did not come close to the quality of the paint job Carlos delivered. Painting is 90% prep work: sanding and spackling. You can tell when a contractor understands the difference prep work makes, and Carlos and his group certainly does. Carlos and his crew were also kind, respectful, professional, and a pleasure to have working in my home. They were extremely conscientious about keeping everything clean throughout the project. So, I called to follow up on it. I was informed the screen was delivered to her (but is nowhere to be found). I asked for pricing on a new screen. Steve came over after a month or so and brought a screen door for a fitting. I explained that I live in a condo community that REQUIRES board approval for any exterior changes by homeowners - yes, that includes a new screen door. He tried to talk me into letting them install it anyway and I refused (politely and because I don't intend to get on my condo board's and/or neighbor's bad side). Deep in grief, I paid for the screen in full and kept the screen. Steve promised to come back and install it once I had approval. I made a mistake on the check and Steve came out the NEXT day (a Saturday) to get a replacement check. That is the last I heard from or saw Steve. I called and left messages after the board approved the new screen door. I was only able to get an answer when I blocked my number prior to calling. At this point in my life, I don't chase low character people. And I also don't start big, expensive projects with companies I haven't worked with before. I have lots of work to have done around here (I purposely bought an outdated home in need of superficial repairs/replacements so I could update it to my liking). I know who I WON'T be calling in the future to provide services. If someone will dodge your calls over a couple hundred bucks, you KNOW you can't trust them with larger, more expensive projects.
