I am very disappointed with my experience at this dental office before my appointment . I was never informed that i would be responsible for the cost of the dental exam if my insurance denied the claim, there was no discussion about the potential charge , no estimate provided and no warning that i could end up with bill. patients deserve to know about out- of pocket cost before treatment so they can make an informed decision. finding out only after the insurance calin is denied is unfair. I encourage this practice (especially the office manger) to be more transparent about fees and insurance coverage .clear communication upfront would help avoid unpleasant surprise and build trust with patients. read more

Full disclosure up front, I am not a fan of most dentists! The franchise ones seem to be more concerned about signing patients up to a long-term contract than taking care of their teeth! I have been lucky in that I've been able to find two local dentists whose first priority is their patients. Unfortunately, one retired and the other moved out of state, so again I had to find a dentist who cared more about my health than how much money they could make off me. Well, I struck gold again in that, thanks to the recommendation of a friend who has been a long-time patient of Dr. Keepers, I have a dentist I feel very comfortable with! She and her staff are simply excellent! They are friendly, thorough and you know you are in good hands during your appointments. They were able to get me in on short-notice, and I received any outstanding cleaning and evaluation. I was immediately sold on this aptly-named dentistry, and will be a regular patient thanks to the exceptional care I received! read more

I absolutely love Dr. Keepers, Dr. Tovar and their staff at Helotes General Dentistry. They have always been helpful and accommodating. I have had to change my appointments a time or two and they've been able to get me in fairly quickly, but they are very busy, so plan your appointments in advance. They are always on time and I have never had to wait more than 5 mins or so once I check in. The front desk is always cheerful and seems very efficient. The best part is that I live less than 2 minutes away so even for a cleaning, I'm in and out and back home in about 45 mins. read more

Dr. Keepers and her staff are so supportive. Besides the excellent care and professional exam I receive each time I go, there is always something unique that stands out. At my last check-up, I shared with the dental hygienist that I was having problems with a toothbrush that I had recently purchased. Both Dr. Keepers and the hygienist provided feedback on using the toothbrush. Today I received a call from the hygienist who had called the toothbrush company on her own time to discuss my problem. She shared the suggestions from the company representative with me. It was so helpful. That is going the second mile! read more

Dr. Tovar and the entire staff at this location are beyond exceptional! They are always friendly and helpful. I don't visit often as I do, but I've been here three times in a span of two and half years and every time the entire appt has been seamless! I don't think I've ever been called back more than 5 minutes after my appt time (they are that efficient!) Definitely give them a check out for your dentistry needs! read more

Dr Keepers is a pleasant lady. Unfortunately her front desk staff and appointment schedulers are terrible. They are short over the phone. When you try to schedule an appointment they make it so difficult. Dr Keepers is also becoming so busy that the wait for an appointment is often months out. If you cancel An appointment or are running late they will charge you a Fee. When I couldn't get in for a month after suffering pain and a cracked crown, I decided to change Dentists and see Dolby Family Dentistry where I was seen right away. But Again the Dr Keepers front desk staff sounded upset that I opted to change Drs and made it nearly impossible to obtain my medical records. They set up every delay known and used tactics to make it so inconvenient for me to obtain my records. I had to personally go to the office and AgAin pay a $30 fee to simply get a copy of my recent X-rays on file. read more

They are super busy so it's hard to get in and get an appointment but I've been coming here 8 years and I hate to change from a dr I am familiar with. Make appointments early and they do have a cancellation call list of it's an emergency. My kids have been coming here since they were 4 and have had great experiences - no dental anxiety!!! read more

I absolutely love Dr. Keepers AND Dr. Tovar. Let me start off by saying I'm a dental phobic. I had bad experiences many years ago as a child but my experiences with these amazing dentists have been nothing but PAIN FREE and wonderful. I recently broke my tooth and needed an emergency crown. I was terrified of the possible pain from the proceedure, add to that my insurance was changing to the office had 9 days to get it done before my insurance expired. Dr. Tovar took care of my tooth absolutely pain free from start to finish! And he was so friendly and calming. AND the office staff! They made sure to get everything taken care of in the timely manner that I so desperately needed. Dr. Keepers and Dr. Tovar are simply wonderful. They've been my dentists for 8 years and will continue to be for as long as possible!! read more

After getting my braces removed my orthodontist sent me to a general dentist because I just wanted a simple cleaning. The general dentist who he recommended was not available at the time "keepers" so that general dentist decided to send me to her co worker, the co worker "aka dentist "Tovar"recommended a cleaning and a filling. A simple filling ended up being my worst nightmare. Not other than he was aggressive (I was bruised for weeks). An infection got formed inside my cheek that the pain and the swelling was so so painful. That "dentist" sent me to an oral surgeon because he had no idea what I had or why I got that! " that it was odd" not acceptable! The people who work here were basically trying to hide me away from everyone (customers to see) and were rude, I was so scared and in pain. When I got to the oral surgeon he had to inject a bag of antibiotic into my vein for two hours and also three prescriptions later and a "you might get surgery" the swelling took 3 weeks to go down and my face went back to normal about a month later...oh and not once the people here or the dentist ever called me to check up on me. Horrible experience, never again! read more

Great customer service and they will work on reasonable payment plans with you when your dental insurance coverage sucks. I also love that I don't have to wait longer than 5 mins when I go in for an appointment. The dental hygienists are friendly and do a great job! read more

We have been going to Dr. Keepers since 2002. She is wonderful, her staff is wonderful. We have never had a problem except sometimes with insurance and then they help us with the insurance. She's gentle and as pain free as possible and thorough, that's why we keep going back. read more

My wife and I just love Dr. Keepers and her entire staff. We have been going to her since 2001 and never had a single problem or negative issue. Her staff are all super friendly, highly efficient and very professional. Dr. Keepers really cares about her patients, answers all questions and makes excellent recommendations for the best care of your teeth and gums. I had a visit yesterday. I am new to the area and after reading reviews it seemed like a pretty good place. The person who saw me seemed like he was new. He had difficulty explaining my oral health and seemed nervous and lacked confidence. I was told I had 5 cavities when a month ago, I saw a dentist and she said I only had one small cavity. The charge for a cleaning was twice as much as a quote I had from the other dentist office. The dentist didn't even explain what he was doing before hand and it seemed like he just stuck his hands in mouth and started poking around. The front office staff was nice and the dental assistant seemed nice. Overall though, I would not recommend this office. read more

I had eight fillings done by Dr. Keepers. During the procedures, for which I paid a pretty penny, Dr. Keepers rushed through my apppointments, was by no means gentle or expert, and had a staff that seemed just as incompetent. After having all of this work done, the fillings were sensitive or painful when chewing or eating cold things. After some time, I went to another dentist, had a series of xrays done, and found that the majority of the fillings were improperly done. The fillings had not set properly and were moving around in my teeth (hence the pain while eating). There were also cavities forming beneath the fillings. My new dentist (with whom I have been very happy) was shocked at the terrible quality of the work done. Now I will be having many fillings redone, paying twice for what should have been done right the first time. I would never recommend anyone go to Dr. Keepers. read more
