My caregiver had to rearrange the room so that i could fit my wheelchair next to the bed just so that i could sleep. The room only had 1 bed so my caregiver had to stay on the floor above me so anytime i needed help they had to run down flights of stairs or wait for the very slow elevator. There was a huge bug in the room and when brought up to the front desk they said it's fine they eat the smaller bugs in the room, my question is why is there bugs in my room, big or small? There was a family above my room that had younger kids who screamed and ran around the room until 10 and when i called front desk to ask if they could tell them to be a little more quiet, i was told he'd try and it was over an hour until they finally did be quiet. The breakfast was horrible, the waffles tasted like lucky charms and for the 4 days i was there they closed breakfast early. I stayed for 4 days and never had room service come once, they say they come every 3 days but yet when you get the room they only gave us 2 towels, I ended up having to ask for my own towels Bottom line don't stay here unless you like being ignored and inconvenienced

I really wanted to like this place as the grounds are beautiful…read more On the positive side, the staff was great and did what they could. The person working the front desk was friendly and looked like she was doing 3 jobs at once. The bartender was fast efficient and made great cocktails. Some of our concerns go to more managerial issues. As an example, the heat in our room did not work and our room was as cold as the outside. Being middle of January we were literally sitting in our rooms in hats, gloves and coats. The staff did bring up some space heaters to help raise the temperature, which eventually worked. The wine pairing dinner we attended was just ok, but at 70 dollars a person I would expect more than using small plastic cups for the pairings. The food itself was really good, so my compliments to the chef. If the room price was more reasonable and not 450 per night I would be less critical. The cost just didn't match the expectation

So I saw this on Hotel Hell many years ago and always wanted to come here. I booked a surprise…read moretrip for the guy I like and picked my castle room based on reviews. When we arrived we saw a beautiful property, had exceptional customer service and check in, the room was unique and huge, and also very clean. The on site amenities were great, the landscaping and theming was emasculate, and the on site restaurant had delicious food for each meal. Several weddings happened on site while we were there and all of that looked very intimate and special for them. The pool complex was very nice and clean. I loved my experience and highly recommend this property to anyone who wants a unique experience in Ohio! Thank you for the memories!

Weary travelers listen up : this Mount Gilead. Best western…read morewas amazing for two weary travelers.. we came in late approximately 10:30 PM and was met with a happy smiling face a quick check in with a reasonable price, the room was, very comfortable it smelt clean the water pressure was amazing in the shower. They had blow dryers tissues, coffee all in the room with the refrigerator that was clean. Every single thing was clean., the bed was very comfortable... the other hotels we stopped along the way on our road trip were at best OK but when we woke up and had eggs sausage potatoes, waffles, cereal, yogurt, fruit toppings, a clean area to eat our breakfast gluten-free options. making one less stop on our road trip from Ohio that would cost us a fortune for breakfast was a happy surprise. it was easy check out as well. the next time we come this way the best Western in at this location in Ohio will be where we are staying...

Avoid Best Western Mt. Gilead - Family Turned Away at 2am, Forced to Sleep in Parking Lot…read moreBooked a room with 2 beds last-minute (11:50pm) through Hotels.com for a late arrival while driving as the only adult/parent with my four young kids (ages 7-12) from Nashville. Arrived exhausted at 2am. Front desk refused us the room, citing occupancy limits. Solo parent with small children -- splitting rooms wasn't safe or realistic. We had no choice but to sleep in their parking lot which the front desk manager knew and let happen. I understand policies exist and even understand why we were ultimately turned away. What I don't understand is the complete lack of flexibility, compassion, or basic problem-solving for a family in a tough spot at 2 in the morning. No alternatives offered (despite what they might say happened as no additional room or discount was available or offered as an alternative option). No goodwill. Just "policy." Worse, the hotel and corporate continue to refuse any refund even though we received nothing for the booking. Paid for a room we were denied and no alternative options were available or offered. We booked at 11:50pm same night so we know we didn't displace or keep anyone else from booking this room. Best Western claims to cater to travelers and families -- this experience proves otherwise. Cold, rigid, and indifferent when it mattered most. This seems to be the common review when it comes to people's interactions with this staff and management. Hospitality is not just about enforcing policies. It is also about how guests are treated when something goes wrong. In this situation, the management showed no compassion, judgment, or willingness to help a family in a difficult position. I would not recommend this property to families or anyone arriving late at night. I hope people read these reviews and warnings and don't make the same mistake I made.

Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Negative: If you have animal allergies AVOID this place, the smell of dog dander is very overwhelming. Rooms especially the carpet needs completely remodeled, the carpet was musty and felt sticky under shoes with socks it was filthy. One of our queen beds had a used lottery ticket in between the sheets. The shower head is very low, Im 5'4" and it was barely above my head. The bathroom sink was very slow draining . You can hear TV/neighbors conversations in the rooms (kids yelling etc.) Its not the worst place to stay but at 139.00 a night, Ive stayed at much cleaner for far less. Update your property.

I was a little nervous to visit after seeing some of the pictures and reviews- even brought my own…read moresheets and towels- but we had a great time. We were able to pay $35 and check in at 1pm, the room was clean. The pool was clean and a comfortable temperature it is a little bit old but everything worked fine and the kids had a blast. The free breakfast was great - warning it was a lot of food with dyes and sugar but I think that's the norm everywhere. They do charge $75 for any late check out - even 15 min which seems absurd considering the room was $67. If you get a room facing the harbor (indoor pool) it is very loud until 10pm if you have young kids with bedtimes I'd request a room that faces the parking lot. The train resturaunt on the top of the hill was very cute and my son Loves trains - closes at 4! The taco restaurant has a good happy hour and strong margarita.
