We camped here from Thursday to Sunday last week. Check-in was easy, and the campsite we had was great. The bathhouses were clean. Giving 4 stars because the spa pool was only open from 3-8 when it was supposed to be open from 10-8 every day we camped. Once it opened, it was packed and not always enjoyable. Also, this lake could really use a good skimmer; the bottom was full of leaves and muck, unlike the Jellystone Campground at Mammoth Cave. We loved the shows and all the camp decorations for the Hulu event. We will be back, I just hope the pool will be open more hours. read more

We stayed here last July. My spouse (who is 6'3") and I slept terrible. His feet were completely off the bed and we felt we had no room to move. We measure the mattress the last day- it's a FULL, not a QUEEN as advertised. I email them after to tell them I'm upset- never hear a word back. Now we were asked to meet family there again this summer and hoping they updated their beds to the size they claim so I email to ask- they email me back to say the beds are same and they are "industry size". They are FULLS and we have video and pics to prove it. I have been manipulated and should have demanded atleast a partial refund after our visit (having read up on the law and what it means them lying about size of beds). The beds in the cabins aren't queens like advertised. Beware! And contact me if you noticed this too. read more

this place is amazing for families. We rented a cabin and it was absolutely perfectly appointed. Very clean. The facility itself was gorgeous and the kids had a ton of fun. Lots of activities to do if you didn't want to spend your time in the lake but the lake was awesome! Only recommendation I would have would have to the park is maybe a few fun things for the teens as well. Maybe a night swim or ?? They are 14 and still had fun anyway! read more

I discovered this place on my trip up to Cedar Point a few weeks ago. I decided to book a vacation for three nights with my family. My three year old had the best time!!! The owners were very friendly and kind. The staff was incredible as well. The place is well maintained and very clean in all areas. There were so many activities we barely had enough time to do everything! My daughter loved all of the art activities and was so excited to see yogi bear everyday. We also brought our two dogs and the place was nicely set up for dogs as well. There's a cute dog park and a few trails to walk. I can't wait to visit again!! read more

1 star is even too much! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called prior to driving 1 hour to get there with my baby to ask if they are opened and they said yes. I asked if they are opened for day pass and they said yes. when I get there, staff was super rude ignoring me asking for help and they said there was nothing they can do about them giving me the wrong information. We spent over $1100 for a cabin for 3 days just to be put in a cabin with no Internet which also meant no TV. I took an hour of my time to call spectrum because that's what the paper said to do and no help. I waited until the front opened the next day to get told by the so called manager that it sounds like spectrums problem and not theirs. My best friend was here too and had perfect internet at her cabin. That same lady said so are u not having fun on the water slides or pool? Like yeah but that closes at 8 pm. So we basically get to sit and stare at walls until the next day. I could have went anywhere and spent that money and made sure my kids had a good time. All I asked was to get swapped to a cabin that has Wi-Fi but that was obviously too much to ask for! It really made me mad when it's like nobody here cares about what's going on and it's basically saying to get over it! I will never come here again. A great weekend got started off on a bad foot. Our first time camping here, we picked this place for the kid appeal and we planned on bringing our grandkids. On arrival, the place looks great and very scenic. A staff member escorted us about 1/2 mile to our spot. He was the only staff member I ended up not liking! He drove up to "our spot" and pointed to it and drove off. (We took a day off and got there right at check in time. )It takes us 2 hours to get the site and our pop up totally setup. We do this without the kids and have their parents bring them so they don't have to wait while we setup. Just after finishing setup, another camper arrived and told us we were in their spot and they wanted to be next to their friends. Sure enough the sign for the spot we were in was hidden by a tree, but we were were the staff told us to me! Just then the kids arrived as we had to tear everything down and move it 30ft. For those of you in bigger rigs, the drive around the lake to get to your site is pretty scary. Think of a road that isn't as wide as your camper and elevated along a lake with drop offs! Some spots are narrow with trees in inopportune places that may prevent you from using our awning, or low hanging wires you may not get your 5th wheel under. In this Covid year camping is regaining popularity and sites are going fast. We booked a month ahead and got the last available spot. With just a popup we like to get a spot near a shower house/bathroom. For us way up on the hillside it was a 200 yard walk, which may not seem bad, till its 3am and you have a 60 year old bladder. We were also .4 miles away from all the activities and a lot of up and down hills! Next time I'll try to get a spot in the 400 loop for our pop up if we take the kids. They ended up having a great time and the weather was perfect. Saw the Milky way, so its nice to be 50 miles from downtown Columbus, though not a great place for star gazing as this is a very wooded site with lots of shade. I'm glad we didn't let that first night disaster spoil our long weekend. read more

This place was awesome! Everything was so clean & the staff were incredibly kind. We had an unforeseen circumstance outside of everyone's control and management jumped in and saved the day in the most accommodating way! There was tons of stuff for the kids (constant activities, 2 pool locations, a pond with Wibits, and so much more). I would definitely recommend a golf cart rental unless you like walking up hills. But even without a cart, everything was a reasonable walking distance. We can't say enough good things. We will be back and recommending this to all of our friends! read more

This Location was everything we expected and more! We came for a holiday weekend with friends. Our campsites got seperated from each other no fault of Jellystone, but the staff was beyond accommodating and made it worth our stay and they were able to move our cabin closer to our friends! This was a smooth and easy process! The staff all over the park was beyond friendly and seemed to care. The park, bathrooms, showers, food truck, ice cream truck were all very clean! Our kids enjoyed all the fun activities Jellystone had to offer! Our cabin experience was amazing, it was beautiful, clean and NEW! We'll be back Jellystone- Columbus North! read more

We camped in tents with our children. We were extremely disappointed when arriving at our campsite. We did not have one tree on our campsite; the day was hot with no clouds and we had no shade at all. The camping area was a bed of mulch, right next to the road. The picnic table was on a hill (our food and drinks kept spilling). The fire ring was also on a hill and felt very unsafe for my young children. Our campground was extremely rocky and my two-year-old kept falling and hurting himself. When I expressed my concern to the staff at Jellystone, instead of offering ways to make it feel more safe (such as an umbrella for shade or trying to level the area around the campfire), they owners yelled at me and asked me to leave. I said my children were in their swimsuits and ready to swim and they tried to kick me out again, saying that they spent their life savings on this place. Still very hard to believe that is how they treat their guests. .. At this point, knowing that the owners at Jellystone were not going to do anything to make our stay better (although they eventually brought an umbrella) and that our kids were excited to be there, we tried to make the most of it. It was hard to sleep with the proximity of the campsites, lots of noise until midnight. I did actually fall sideways in my chair around the campground and was just glad it wasn't one of the kids! Also had fungus growing out of the mulch getting all over our tents. Really really gross and made clean up a mess. Gratefully the lake was fun and we just had to spend very little time at our campsite since it was so awful. But won't be back especially after the treatment of the owners and will encourage everyone else to take their business elsewhere also. read more

We just spent the weekend at Jellystone in Mt Gilead. We had stayed here a few years ago and loved it. The place was still enjoyable, but we were nickel and dimed to death. The campsite was already pretty pricey, and then we had to pay $9 per person per day in addition to that, and then $5 to rent a lifejacket per day! The last time we were there the lifejackets were hanging on a rack and you just grabbed one (they are required on the lake, and for good reason). It was tedious getting the life jackets because they had to write the serial number for each one down, but when we returned them they didnt even ask for our site number. When I asked the clerk to make sure it was documented that we returned them, she just said dont worry about it and wouldnt even document a thing. They are building a new pool. I thought it would be ready when we reserved our trip, because it was on the park map. But it was still not opened. The new foam pit was dirty, not like the ones in other Jellystone parks. The finale was that I scheduled a golf cart for one day, but wanted to switch the times and they would not allow me. I was just frustrated at all the extra costs and the lack of cooperation. read more

Campground is nice and private. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The kids loved swimming at their pond which has 3 slides , a kiddie area, dock for fishing, canoes and paddle boats you can take out. Our site was nice and private in the 800 section. The campground is nice to be able to shoot down to Columbus in half hour to outlets or to grab something to eat. On the downside the bathroom were so so. They were semi up to date and semi clean. Maybe I'm to picky but I like a newer very clean shower facility. Some areas by pond could use some tending to but for most part was very nice stay. read more

I think this is a great family fun centered campground. What makes it so great? My vote is the activity directors and their commitment to family fun! Love bingo nights, hay rides, snowball fights with rolls of toilet paper and the list goes on and on! They are great fun! The other thing that makes this such a great campground is the camp store. Filled with everything you could imagine from treats for the kids to highend affordable Winan's Chocolate's (get the buckeyes, they're great!), if you forgot it, they probably have it. Lastly, the twin pools and the awesome beach and waterslides leaves kids out of energy ready for a good night's sleep. Bad thing about this campground? Get's booked pretty quick and often times is close to being sold out so you better make plans ahead of time! read more

If you have kids this the place to go. Clean restrooms and showers. Pools great for relaxing.Nice people. But a bit pricy. If you think your going to relax on vacation bewhere of screaming kids playing riding there bikes in front of you and there parents warning them after the 5th time don't do that three two...one. and you be lucky to catch any fish with all the blue die in the lake to keep the Alger down. Haveing an rv would be best but tent camping is fun only if they don't put you in a spot with no shade really ....T7 don't book it! read more

Great family campground. We came with a total of 3 families on 2 large tent sites and had kids ranging from 8, 4, and 1. There were activities for kids almost on the hour the entire weekend to participate in (we joined in on a scavenger hunt and wagon ride). We had a slight issue the first night with seasonal campers being loud past quiet hours, but staff were quick to remediate the situation including a personal visit and assurance from the owners Rich & Nancy that it wouldn't happen again (and it didn't - we saw extra patrol through the campground the next evening). Overall, the staff and other campers/seasonals were very friendly and made for a great experience both for the adults and kids. Will be back! read more

Quite possibly the best camping resort and campground in Central, Ohio. But why 4 stars? Greed. Greed justified through falsehoods and misinformation. Basically you can't bring your own wood because they want you to buy small bundles for $6ea. They says it's because of EAB (Emerald Ash Borer) and the Longhorn Beetle. The government has lifted the EAB quarantine because everywhere is infected, and the funniest thing was that the wood they sold at the office showed signs of EAB infections (looks like wormwood under the bark). The beetle problem isn't anywhere close to this part of Ohio and only affects a very tiny area. And you can't tell me that all of the seasonal campers here with huge stacks of wood paid for it to the tune of $900/cord. You're already paying a premium price to camp here and for some additional activities so why nickel and dime us and act like you are protecting the environment? Before I went here I read reviews where people said they inspect your truck for wood and send you home if you have any, they didn't flat out ask but at check in someone did peak in the bed of my truck. Didn't stop other people from hiding it in their giant toolboxes or inside their toy hauler area, even saw one guy hide it in a cooler. So what are you accomplishing by being so greedy if people sneak it in anyway? I liken this wood fee to campgrounds that charge you extra to run your AC. Besides the wood complaint, this place would be 5 stars. Everything else about it was excellent and way above average. For starters, they have kids activities starting at 9am and they go almost all day, most free. The ones for a fee were surprisingly for a small fee for things like t-shirts for tie dying, ice cream socials, etc. Even the crafts were free. I've never been to another campground that did more for kids. They did so many things we were worn out trying to take them to everything. My kids loved the rubber duck race and the glow parade the most. The lake and water park are much smaller than Longs, but even on a crowded holiday weekend it isn't overran with people. I think with all the activities going on kids get tired and you just can't do it all...so the water park is lightly used. There was never a long wait for either slide, beach wasn't crowded, and the kids had a blast swimming out to some of the water toys. They have two pools down by the office which are very small and crowded but still enjoyable. Unlike Longs Retreat, this place is very very quiet, thanks in part to electric golf carts among the seasonal campers. Quiet hours are enforced. Speeding isn't enforced that much, but the roads are kinda in bad shape so people just can't speed anyway, for the most part most people drove slow. The spots are flat out amazing. We had a full service site, water, electric, cable, sewer...no wifi but we had decent cell signals on Sprint and Verizon. We had a nice level gravel pad and then below our pad was another area with gravel, grass, fire ring, and some shade. The sites are big enough to where you don't feel like you're camping with your neighbor. We arrived to a clean site as well, no trash in the fire ring or broken glass on the ground. Another pleasant surprise was that the paddle boats were free. You can fish from them on their catch and release lake, the swimming beach is marked off and on the other side of the lake so boats and people don't mix. We opted for a late checkout, 7pm, and I can't remember exactly but it was about $30. Quite a bit but we were having so much fun I didn't care to spend the extra money. All of the staff including the owner Nancy were very polite, very accommodating, and very professional. They made their presence known around the campground vs. letting people in and then never seeing a staff member ever again. The front store is very clean and you can get free wifi there while you shop or sit outside and watch people on the lake. The store prices are very reasonable as well and they sell ice cream and assorted chocolate candies and all of the typical camp store items (camping gear, shirts, toys, etc). Two thumbs up for this great campground. While it does cost a premium price ($62/night/holiday weekend) it was well worth it and I've paid similar prices elsewhere like Lazy River that weren't nearly as good as Jellystone. We would definitely come back and would definitely recommend this to anyone whether you have kids or not. Nice campgrounds like this are few and far between. read more

Use to be a great place to stay, but has really gone down hill. Prices are phenomenal, especially for memorial day weekend. 1 tent site $370.00. That includes 1 person. Have to add $9.00 more per person after that per day. Then one of my children lost the wrist ban. So I went to get another one and had to pay for it. Beware do not lose the pass to check in and out. They charge $10.00 if you do. Check out is at 12noon and you have to be off property by then. My son got stopped walking to the bathroom 4x by different staff to look at his bracelet. He got to where he wouldn't walk with his sister without me bc he felt Intimidated. I was told that I could have up to 8 people at the site upon making reservations and my older children could come visit for $9.00. We only had 4 people, so we had planned on my adult children visiting a few hours Saturday and Sunday and paying for their bracelets. However, when they came in I was told they needed to pay $25 for a day pass each and that they were not allowing visitors this weekend. So in Short, stay somewhere else if your looking to actually relax and be stress free. read more

Nice place to stay. Staff was friendly. Quiet location with a nice lake and river. Bathroom and shower, though we didn't try them, were spotless. Internet only on the porch near the store which was kinda lame. Count on running the dryers twice if you do laundry there! Our site was a nice big pull-through but it was at a HUGE angle... almost maxed out our bubble level. My fault for not having jacks or blocks I guess? Hookups were great and easily accessible. Avoid this place if you know what's good. $44 for a tent site and it's all year round campers with no guests unless they pay to visit for $4. They want all your personal info including address and phone number. Then they want to look at the vehicle you drive in. I've camped here since 1972 and I will never go back. We are seasonal campers and I cannot say enough great things about Jellystone!!! The owners and staff are as nice as they come and make you feel like family. They are very responsive to any need/issue that may arise. It is extremely clean, safe, kid friendly and fun! Activities keep my daughter happy and busy all day long. In fact, she never wants to leave. We feel lucky to have such a great place to create summertime memories! read more

This campground looks nice from 30000ft elevation but in reality its a super cramped vacation. The beach is horrible and tiny. Playgrounds have signs saying play at your own risk. the road is so tiny my truck almost fell in the lake cant imagine pulling a camper. read more

I would give this 1/2 star of I could * I stayed at jellystone at Dogwood Valley from July 31 - August 2, 2015 and was BEYOND disappointed. I booked a group camp site many months before and was told this site held 18 people and it would be 125.00 per night (which I thought was high since a regular site at many other places charge 27-32 a night) and I also reserved a golf cart and was told that it would be 40.00 for the weekend, so I paid my deposit and was told to call a few days before check in to give a list of names for the wrist bands. I called Wednesday before check in and was told that I would still need to pay an extra 180 when I got there as the group sites only cover 10 people and anyone extra would need to pay 10.00 per person per day and the golf carts would be 40.00 per day (6 hours) so when I learned of this extra charge I asked to cancel and was told that I could not get a refund only a credit for future use. I was also told that their policy changed since I reserved and would need to pay the entire balance over the phone that same day, which was an inconvenience since two family's were splitting this. Now, I'm not cheap by any means but 430.00 just to stay for 2 nights is expensive for a campsite. Against better judgement, we decided to go anyway. The group site was nice except for the ridiculous amount of mosquitoes that they claim they spray every Friday (we got the at 11 am and didn't see anyone spray the entire weekend) we had torches, table repellant and bug spray and still got ate up. They advertise the pool is heated but was way coolder than the lake and my kids refused to swim in it because it was freezing, they also advertise a "blob" in the lake that you can jump on and send someone flying but they didn't have it due to it getting broken the previous year and "won't pay the 3k to get a new one" according to the front staff. The weekend activities are a joke as the sandcastle competition was at the beach and there was minimal sand and a volleyball game was going on with the staff and my daughter's sandcastle kept getting hit and wrecked. The firewood is 7.50 a bundle but more like kindling but they do deliver it for you. Sunday morning Yogi wad in a golf cart going around to visit the campers but slowed down to wave to our kids but kept driving but got out for pictures at some of the other campsites. There are about 5 pale boats and 3 kayaks so you'll have to wait until one comes available. Overall, this place was an absolute joke and will not return and have told my friends and family not to waste their time. read more
